But one never knows what shape one's room is after being made up - I'm often missing towels, there's no water/coffee/tea, and asking for a towel at 9 pm isn't my favorite activity.

A weird hotel in that is part of a sports club with soccer fields and a pool.

There is a small over grown mosquito infested "football pitch" and no other sports or leisure equipment.

But then sitting 600 miles out in the Indian Ocean off the east cost of Africa on a volcano doesn't really lend itself to high traffic, which would heat up the competition.

A part a swimming pool and a so called golf course there are NO, absolutely NO sports facilities.

Other "hotels" are more down-market: if you can put up with the "traffic" the Arcades is ok, for a short stay, as is the Jardin de la Paix (one grade above backpacker

but there is no competition and the owner, who does not live in the Comoros, apparently doesn't care and is not interested in updating anything until he has to.

Speaking of the bathroom, it seems the maintenance requests for the last 15 years May have gone missing.

I asked for a certificate in English - he said no problem, it was in French.

During our stay I asked to talk to the General Manager to inform him of a personal issue and our need to arrange alternative transportation to the airport later that day.

The staff are incompetent lacking the most basic customer service, often ignored or had staff walk away with utter bemusement to the most simple questions asked of them.

I was booked into this hotel by my travel agent.The hotel also sent a taxi to pick me up from the airport.I was given a welcome.drink.I was asked to wait waited for sometime again asked for the keys.Then they told me they do not have a room and  sent me to a another hotel.Not what you expect after a long flight then the long silence by the reception.Never go.this hotel lots of better rooms in Moroni.

They asked 42 eur ( incl 50% discount) while a normal taxi costs 15 eur.

I asked the Egyptian manager where I might find a beer and he politely declined to tell me so you'll need to ask someone other than the management.

The room was clean, AC worked well, the bed was comfortable,

Rooms are ok and clean with a nice breakfast buffet.

Room was clean with working AC , cleaning staff were busy in the other rooms around .

but makes up for it by clean rooms with good shower and decent wi-fi.

Decent staff and rooms are clean and nice, wifi has some connectivity issue some time .over all it was a great experience

Clean rooms, well functioning a/c, tv works ok with a few int'l channels.

That said, the Hotel Le Moroni has some nice qualities:  clean rooms, A/C (very important), nice people.

The towel rack was dangling from the wall.

Towels had stains on them that looked like they've been there forever.

The walls are covered in stains of dubious origin, the bathroom is covered in mould, the towels were dirty and the bedlinen not washed from the previous guest.

For unknown reasons the hotel is providing only one towel per guest.

but it is even worse to let hundreds of bottles every day to float in the water and do nothing about it, as I saw it.

Since there are not many places where you can exchange money in the city, the hotel also has an ATM machine and provide currency exchange as well.

If you have to visit make sure you use your credit card or withdraw local money in advance because the hotel exchange rayes are a ripoff.

Yet I was paying more than €100 per night!

numerous emails back and forth (many going unanswered) and eventually having to make a money transfer to pay a deposit before arrival. .

but i have no idea what they were there for - they were just sitting staring on their phones all day and playing some noisy game.

When he finished his phone call, I asked him if he would be escorting us through the local medina.

but all he seemed to do was sit in a chair and sunbathe or look at his phone.

The rooms were clean and very comfortable.

Our room was clean with a magnificent view of the ocean, and the air conditioner was a life saver in the heat.

Beautiful view on the cost; pretty garden; friendly staff, efficient in provindg transport a car at any moment (no rent a car is available in Comores); precise in shuttling from and to airport (very close, by the way); nice private beach; clean rooms; good resteraunt (one of the most popular in Moroni, not sophisticated food

It had no airconditioning and if I left the window open, everybody could just walk in.

On my first stay, the large, heavy wooden curtain railing above the window fell on top of my head as I tried to open the curtains.

although the rooms do not have phones the security guard knocked on the door at our requested time.

The only issue is all the mosques calling for morning prayer at 4am.

The first night I got a suite on the first floor for the price of a standard.

This guest is OK for a short stay, for longer time, I am sure it is possible to find better quality for the price.

The room is clean and the staff is trying their best to speak English.

The jardin de la paix is quite well located, I had a room facing the street: not too much noise, the room was very clean ,the bed comfortable, with a fan for 40 Euros per day (add 10 Euros and you get the AC, what was not useful at this time of the year).
