The bath towels are old and need to be upgraded and the Wifi does not reach the bungalow

In the room, there is a glassed in shower with an open door.

Unfortunately the bathroom didnt looked very nice and it appeared to be quite filthy.

I’d happily pay €30 per night based on the poor quality of amenities and services.

Problems with bathroom were fixed rapidly.

Only suggestion to make bathroom in room more private as now it was glass one with a shaded wallpaper and you can see persons shade in the bathroom.

They don't offer beach towels, we had to use our bathroom towels, which was not nice.

There is mold in the corners of the shower, which operated at a trickle.

though the bathroom could do with a little refurbishment.

I stayed in a comfy, quiet and nicely decorated chalet overlooking the Indian Ocean crystal blue waters and appreciated, to its fullest, the high sense of hospitality and friendly service from the Golden Tulip teams across the board.

The beach was also really clean with very clear water.

The beach is great and the water is transparent.

The Tanzian-owned hotel can impress with cheerful and super-supportive staff, a really yummy breakfast buffet, excellent rooms with ocean view, a beach that is well maintained (remember proximity to Moroni means a lot of litter) and great for snorkeling at a nearby reef, which will introduce to the diverse underwater world.

The views on the island are fantastic and the hotel has a nice beach area.

They have a very nice view overlooking the resorts private beach.

- the beach is cleaned regularly (without guests having to prompt the staff sitting on the beach)
- toiletries - such as shampoo, conditioner - are NOT leftovers from previous guests.

The water is a stunning shade of blue, the beach is white and soft (hot in the sun!

Above all, the food is yummy and exquisite.. amazing service.. nice beaches ⛱️.. i recommend both couples and single people to try this one..

This is actually a decent property right on a lovely beach btwn the airport and the capital .

The small white sand beach is mind blowing and the sunsets are very beautiful daily.

The credit card machine does work for checkout, and they allow you to bill food/beverage to your room account.

- the hotel accepts all types of credit cards (not just Visa)
- meals are appropriately priced.

If you have to visit make sure you use your credit card or withdraw local money in advance because the hotel exchange rayes are a ripoff.

You can pay your bill with VISA - they do not accept Mastercard.

Another man was around most of the time, seemingly in charge,

Check-in and payment procedures were very slow and the surcharges for card payment are just insane to be honest.

Unless you pay with VISA and accept surcharges you will pay in cash, mostly in Euro.The hotel is close to the airport and to Moroni.

Change of local currency easy and not charged; only VISA is accepted, or cash.

After complaining at the reception I was accommodated into one of their bangolo suites for no extra charge (last two nights).

The price to the airport is $20/car which is outrageous considering how poor Comoros is.

Strangely, during this stay, the restaurant service was poor due to lack of staff and the food was either not hot or empty stations were not replenished.

The Comores are among the most poorley managed countries similar to Belize and Haiti and among the 170 UNO countries definitely at the bottom of the list: poor roads and very dirty.

These glorious islands will be discovered soon so despite the poor accommodation I suggest if you like out of the way locations.

Their exchange rate for USD to KMF is only 420, far below the market rate of 460.

They should use some of the proceeds of their exorbitant rates (relative to other properties) to make physical improvements and staff customer service capacity.

However, due to relatively high prices, the majority of guests are tourists from other parts of the world, mainly from Europe, India, Far East or other relatively rich countries.

Meals are extremely basic, not what would you expect for the price you pay and the hotel name,

numerous emails back and forth (many going unanswered) and eventually having to make a money transfer to pay a deposit before arrival. .

Golden Tulip is suited both for a private stays and for business purposes.

I asked to order food there and they initially said no,

but after 07:30 there ws nothing left to eat and after we asked from the staff to refill the trays they took 45 minutes to grt us a plate of fruits instead of proper breakfast.

The room was dirty upon arrival, and as we asked for twin beds, this was not even arranged for the first night.

2 out of 3 requests went wrong, with no taxi available.

So you may struggle with making requests in English if you do not know any French.

If they would have asked me to do it, I would have even been happy to do it!

The food was delicious and well-prepared, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was very pleasant.

All staff are very friendly and specially the chef and his team who was very caring as my husband do not eat seafood.

First time at Golden Tulip Resort, we got to enjoy at the bar with a perfect sea view.

The view from the rooms are superb and if lucvy you can see the dolphins.

There were exposed wires to the outlet in the bathroom.

There is visible mold in the bathrooms for instance.

Behind the toilet are old ruin stains and all sealing is gone long ago.

although the bathroom would need some renovation, especially in the shower area.

The walls are covered in stains of dubious origin, the bathroom is covered in mould, the towels were dirty and the bedlinen not washed from the previous guest.

Disgusting rooms, I fear for my health staying in this hotel, green moldy walls and furniture, my shower drain flooded the bedroom, it looked like it wasn't the first time it had happened.

however the rooms are well overdue renovation work and especially the bathroom in the room I was in (248).House keeping in my opinion don’t really pay attention to detail as I noticed the tiles around the bathtub area are all water marked and need a good scrubbing.

Prepare for a foot bath as you wash your hands!

The bathrooms don't seem to have been touched by the renovation that was done.

The room was "tired", the bathroom even more "tired".

Some electrical switches were damaged and dangerous, the bath was stained and corroded, the shower head damaged and falls off, and sometimes the water supply is trickling.

although the shower curtain tend to stick to your legs.

The issue with the smell was the same, and the bathroom was so poorly maintained I thought the wall was crumbling.

If that wasn't enough I complained that the bathroom in our room had a strong smell of urine that even after cleaning soon came back when the air freshener they spray wore off.

There is also no filtration system so every so often they drain and refill it.

But the hotel is bare bones -- the bathrooms are pretty basic and need some work to make them look cleaner (dirty grout, broken tiles),

stayed at retaj for 15 days, excellent service, warm and friendly staff, the manager is very kind and the place is ideal, next to the warm blue sea.

If you look for something honest and friendly the Retaj is what you looking for.

I stayed at Retaj twice and the friendly manager and staff helped to make my stay a lot more comfortable.

One of the (non-resident) delegates to our meeting wandered down by the pool and was chased by the pool attendent which was not at all friendly.

I've stayed at the Moroni many times, and have to say the staff are always friendly and they keep the place clean and tidy.

The location is much better than the Golden Tulip's and the grounds are beautiful.

The hotel has a good location for business meetings.Unfortunately the rooms are run down and would really need renovation.The staff is unequal.

It is located near to port and the main governmental office.

It is centrally located and about 30mins from the airport.

However with its location it adds lots to its value.

The location by the sea is beautiful, with a large and peaceful garden (but no beach), food is good and it has a well-equipped gym.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the city center.

Yet, they fall short in critical ways of being a top notch hotel, even given the challenges of the location (isolation).

Comoros is a poor country and I did not expect much

but the food was poor quality and the cost not for off western prices.

Moroni is a very poor, dirty and underdeveloped place so returning to the Retaj in the evening felt like heaven.

If this hotel was anywhere else, I'd rate it "poor";

While the surroundings are quite nice, as the hotel is right in front of the beach, the rooms are really poor.

It is sad that a place with such potential has to endure a poor hotel like this, where to start.

However, in the context of being in an isolated, somewhat forgotten, highly uneducated and impoverished country, it is adequate and basically the only place to stay aside from the Istandra which is, at this time about 150 Euro a night (However, both places have poor quality food, not sure about the rooms,

Let me list the items:

- 50% increase of room rate for a second person (really, cant think of anything else to make up for your poor occupancy rate)
- Room was smelling of gutter during the full two days.

The staff are miserable and unhelpfull and english is poor.

On the cons side, the poor internet connection, limited choice at breakfast and, the slow pace of conference services.

So overall: this place is poor and worsening.

Despite seeing mnay poor reviews on this hotel, we decided to give it a try after 2 weeks on Moheli island.

We kept 5 rooms and a large boardroom for 5 nights, we never met any manager.

The room was clean, AC worked well, the bed was comfortable,

For that purpose, the hotel was pretty ok - there are multiple meeting rooms, a buffet-style restaurant and airport transfers.

The pool was only out of use one day we were there (out of five), the food was very good, the room was comfortable and had all the amenities advertised.

The pool area was very nice and open, and the room was adequate for our needs.

My room was nice and clean as was the bathroom.

Rooms are ok and clean with a nice breakfast buffet.

Some of the rooms on the ground floor have French doors that open directly on the garden which can be nice -

Contrary to what I read in some reviews all equipment in the two rooms I stayed worked well (airco, fridge, safe, tv, hot water).

but makes up for it by clean rooms with good shower and decent wi-fi.

The rooms were comfortable with hot water and Cable TV and a small fridge and more importantly they were clean.

Welcome the fact that they provide anti mosquito spray in the rooms as well as burning tablets to keep the unwanted visitors away.

The drain pipe from the sink is broken and open to the bathroom floor.

Mold stains on the walls and ceilings, pillows filled with what only feels like torn up pieces of foam matress.

Disturbing is the fact that guests like to hang around at a "lounge" close to the rooms and the restaurant and a lot of them heavy smokers; the smell will get in your room if you are staying on the left side of the hotel.

The repair guy just told us to leave it on for a few days (of our 3 day stay).

The pool works with stagnant sea water only, therefore has to be emptied, cleaned and filled again every week or so.

Everything is good after 100 days at sea.

Delivery to the roof attracted extra charges (exorbitant in my view) Wifi connection was erratic being strongest by the reception area and becoming weaker as one moved further.

Nothing really to complain about as far as my ground floor, pool view room was concerned.

The hotel has a laid back atmosphere and is near the ocean.

The rooms downstairs feel better, as they have glass doors to the terrace and view to the see, feeling less claustrophobic.

There are so many advantages to this hotel - its location gives it the upper hand to the Itsandra, there's the proximity to nearby restaurants, offices and shopping, the ocean out the front steps.

The hotel is a sea facing institution with a mountain in the background which gives a very unique and picturesque landscape.

So I'd stop imposing my Qatari owners' religious views on my guests, and start serving alcohol. 2.
