The brand is more important then the experience or comfort.

My check in was terrible - not informed re the services in the hotel, about the need to insert power card, had to ask for my free drink voucher.

Then 1 hr later one invoice for food, then had to chase for accomodation.

I also had my alarm turn off and not wake me nor charge my phone.

My card was also charged $100 as a guarantee.

but when you are charging a six star price with a CBD view that is advertised but non existent, it all adds up.

They required physical sighting of credit cards despite being offered them on our smartphone and our booking service (Booking.com had all our details including the credit card for the booking).

It appears to me that whoever is in charge, has completely given up, and the hotel, is just existing.

The price on the website was $20.00 less than the actual charge which was $20.00 more.

With the exception of the food and beverage staff, the balance of the staff have the worst attitude of any hotel that i stayed at.

Clients I was with were double charged for dinner, and it was only astuteness that saved the day.

Was not very impressed when I stayed at Olsen firstly the stuffed our booking up and charged us double somehow on 2 different cards then had checked us in before we were even there, the room

Only negative was the swipe card for room deactivated twice.

Instead I was charged a further $50 from the rental company who had to provide my details to the council for the notice to be sent to me, followed by needing to pay the infringement notice.

Be aware that any "extras" on menu had to be paid for outside the package ( a little frustrating on second boring that despite only using one of the two person breakfast packages, an additional charge for extras on one meal still had to be paid!

I was double charged and I’m currently trying to recover my money as it’s theft , I had no towels in my room and the sheets where smelly and I got a rash , I waited 45 for my orange juice at your cafe so I canceled it and went to work !

Took 4 phone calls to get my invoice emailed to me after my stay.

Wonderful staff, hotel, location & breakfast is 100% worth it.

In fact no parking fee was mentioned at all when they gave us our card to access the parking garage.

For the price of the hotel this is really not good enough.

The hotel does not trust the guest to pay for any room charges they may incur from the mini bar or other food and beverage charges. 2,.

You have everything at your fingertips with a variety of restaurants, plenty of shopping.

Close to lots of great eateries and cool bars etc.

Highly recommend if you want to stay somewhere close to good restaurants and all the city entertainment.

There's lots of passages between all the new buildings hiding exciting sounding restaurants.

Being in Chapel street was great as we were spoilt for choice with lots of great restaurants in easy walking distance.

✨️ After that we travelled by tram to Themeat&Wineco in Southbank for dinner followed by a city stroll and returned to our hotel for a spa & pamper evening.

Forth we had room service come and clean the room on the 3 days we stayed and the rubbish remained there until the 3rd clean.

Food sat waiting on counter warmer ( toast) for 15 minutes while they prepared other breakfast meals from our group.

I just love having the little kitchen so you can get your own food together rather than always having to eat out.

Such an awesome location with all the best amenities and restaurants nearby.

but the choice of room offered this time whereby its looking at the wall of building in front was very unpleasant and on top rooms where not thoroughly and minty cleaned next day.

Studio room was delightful with all the necessary kitchenette accessories.

I was ecstatic when I was upgraded to room 608, which had a kitchenette and was located on a high floor.

The easter egg surprise in our room was a lovely touch, Parking very expensive for the stay.

The room was the smallest possible version of the deluxe studio as it was positioned at the join between the two sections.

Really nice accommodation, facility beautiful and well cleaned always, staff were lovely.

Hotel and rooms are really clean and I found the bed and pillows really comfortable.

But I’ll still say there because of great service and a comfy sleep.

Very comfortable accommodation in very quiet, comfortable rooms with excellent attention to detail throughout the property.

Breakfast was delicious and our room was very comfortable.

Arm chairs seats are saggy and hardly comfortable.

Our apartment was spacious and very comfortable with a pleasing view over the park at the back.

Stayed in a 1 bedroom with spa bath and it was so spacious, comfortable and clean.

I had packed my antibacterial wipes, convinced I’d need to wipe down everything before feeling comfortable in the room.

The bed was very big and comfortable, we slept very well as we had no noise from outside despite the busy location.

The bathroom was spacious, the bed super comfy, and the dining area allowed for people gathering.

The junior suite is an incredibly comfortable and spacious room with lovely minimalist decor.

The rooms are more than generous, supremely comfortable bed with many pillow options, impressive vista from each room ( we look onto a Japanese garden) and more than friendly staff.

The room, a one bedroom suite, was comfortable and a nice (but small) outlook onto the green parkland being the building.

The suite was very well presented , comfortable, spotlessly clean, and the bed and pillows were wow for comfort!!

The bed and pillows are very comfy to sleep in where you can watch tv as it was on an extendable mount.

After checking out and reviewing my hotel bill found I had been charged for breakfast of $70, I find it incredible that hotels make this mistake so often, if you haven't signed a restaurant bill how does it end up on your bill?

The only part of the stay which is very  annoying is we were debited twice from our account for the stay which still hasn’t been resolved

I was charged $17.50 on my minibar for no reason.

There was also a bottle of sparkling water, some chocolates and some fruit - with a greeting card addressed to someone else (Sorry Mr Ryan I think I got your room!!)!!

I refused to provide my debit card as it took forever for the money to go back in my account after checking out!

It is not OK to put through charges without authorisation or notification. .

On check-out the next morning, I was charged the cash rate for the room, despite having booked with points.

I find it incredible in this day and age that a hotel charges a significant fee ($AUD 26 per day) for Wi-Fi.

The city is a short taxi ride away and on balance, if I ever visit again, I'd probably stay in a more central location, we likened South Yarra to Chelsea in London, it's too expensive and there's not really much there other than restaurants and boutiques.

however on checking out we were charged for items we did not use from the minibar.

At this price, wifi should be included in the room charge and in 2017 there's no excuse for a poor internet connection in a city like Melbourne.

The bar is a bit small and it's a shame that with an advantage plus card there isn't the option of a cheaper lunch or dinner.

However, I was surprised to find that there were no power points anywhere near the beds so one has to keep getting up to answer one's mobile whilst it was being charged well away from the bed.

Otherwise there will be a surcharge for wifi

To my surprise there were balloons and a birthday card on the bed.

Waiting for 1 hour before anyone was serving in the bar in the middle of the afternoon was frustrating and then getting charged for breakfast when it was in my room rate was not unexpected.

My only complaint was having to pay 1.5% extra because I was paying with a credit card.

My one gripe (and the Como is not alone on this), is the dreadful Australian practice of charging - and charging outrageously - for wifi.

The spacious rooms, with large box full length windows bring in the natural light and are full of quality fittings and fixtures, the beds are heaven and are dressed with beautiful bed linen, pillows & covers and the bath towels are soft and ever so fluffy, most rooms have a big spacious bathroom and a deep spa bath which entices you in every time along with the quintessential must have blue duck.

But I was relieved to discover a safe and friendly environment in The Como, and was truly sad to leave.

It is close to some great restaurants and bars on Chapel St and the ambiance at the hotel is very chilled.

We notified the hotel of my birthday celebrations and where gifted with a bottle of bubbles, cake and decorations.

There is also a blue rubber ducky which is very quirky and Appelles products similar to the Aesop range.

It’s a smallish hotel with a boutique style and exceptional service.

They are oversized (comparable in size to a small 2 bedroom apartment) with a private courtyard (three storeys above the noise of toorak road and chapel street), and decked out with lush bamboo, Japanese plants and an adorable garden pond - this was perfect both for a glass of wine before heading out and before my morning coffee to recover in serenity the next day.

The hotel was well presented and had a lovely old world charm about it.

but lacking in atmosphere as there are so many good wine bars  in the area so was underused.

Easy location for the charms of Hawksburn Village, the Chapel Street and Toorak Rd trams plus quick walk to Sth Yarra train station.

Well located, within easy reach of trains, Botanical gardens and Toorak, The Como is an elegant, yet affordable Hotel.

The decor is a little arty which adds to the hotels interest.

Also, pleasing to see senior management involvement in day to day activities including a visible presence at breakfast as well as later in the day.

Location wise, it’s extremely convenient given its proximity to Tram stops and we had no issue getting around.

If you love a large room and a hotel that is well located and is trying to regain it's market share with excellent service, small treats and upgrades - then you can go past The Como.

Well we have been so impressed with all of the staff over the years that, combined with the quality of the establishment, the impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail as well as the fabulous location The Como is our choice for a 'home away from home' when having a short 'staycation' in our own city.

This is a hotel that is also top notch in terms of cleanliness, room amenities, location, proximity to trams, eateries etc.

The best thing about this hotel is location, so close to lots of cafes etc on Chapel St and nearby to Richmond etc.

It has steadfastly stayed true to its mantra of ‘give from the heart’, therefore everything they do is from the heart, from the warm welcome, room service, housekeeping, the brasserie and reception, every staff member is attentive, helpful and supportive to your every need of your stay.

Hotel service was good, we didn't eat in the hotel as too many other options nearby including the excellent SOS cafe up Toorak Rd.

And the “Signature “ free Limincello cocktail for Accor members could be (I did) think it was a fridge deodoriser..

Due Covid, the on-site cafe could only offer on site breakfast while room service remains available for lunches and dinners.

Plenty of dine in and take away food choices nearby.
