The River of time is chilled and my favorite way to ease into the activities at the Valley of Waves.

The Cascades, Sun City is near these landmarks: Kingdom Resort, Sun City Casino, Mphebatho Cultural Museum, Sun City Resort, Zip 2000 at Sun City, Kudu's Rus Game Lodge and Predator Park, Mankwe GAMETRACKERS, Breakout Games Sun City, Gary Player Country Club, Gary Player Health Spa, The Maze of the Lost City, Valley of Waves, Lost City Golf Course, Waterworld, The Waterworld Picnic Lawn, Sun City Tours, Latsatsi Conferencing Centre, Sorbet Sun City, King's Tower, Predator World, Pilanesberg National Park, Pilanesberg National Park, Tautona Tours and Safaris and Moruleng Cultural Precinct

Covid regs enforced all the time, except in restrurants, breakfast venue and the buses ( packed to the max)..so they will stop u if you walking in the open grass area,

We weren’t told breakfast times, WiFi codes, which restaurants were open when or what activities there are to do.

Sun City in general was great and a huge variety of activities to choose from.

I attended the Nedbank Golf Tournament in November and we were there on various occasions in December 2019 and again for Valentine's weekend.

Restaurants to suit every taste and activities are plentiful too.

There were Easter activities for the kids that the adults could still partake in.

Access to the valley of the waves was also a laborious process and the Brew Monkey Sports Bar, well was a bar with little draft beer and no sports Tv's working.

On the positive side the hotel has a lovely pool area which includes some slides and the resort itself has lots of entertainment for kids albeit at a rather steep price.

The close proximity to the entertainment centre also makes it convenient, especially if you are travelling with kids.

As a proud South African I am disgusted at this as a venue.

Although we visited the venue during July, a more quite time at Sun City, everything was still of high quality, the service, the food, venue maintenance, beautiful gardens and very friendly, helpful staff!

Hotel is in close proximity to the entertainment centre which has an abundance of facilities.

Positives:
-Morning game drive was amazing with Mankwe Game Trackers - Make sure you get Patrick.

I like the close proximity of the hotel to the conference venue.

There are endless other activities for the whole family like quad biking, the Elephant experience and so much more.

The golfing experience and activities  was memorable and wish we had more time to do all the other remaining activities.

All in all the external activities are wonderful

We had an early start the next morning to go on a game drive, so can’t comment on breakfast.

My family and I had a great weekend in the cascades hotel, the staff was friendly and very helpful, the room was beyond our expectations, I recommend cascades hotel, we are definitely coming back, see you guys soon

Beautiful  hotel, clean and beautiful pool, good resturant options, friendly staff.

The Staff are very friendly and totally professional.

The staff are amazing, friendly and really add to the enjoyment of staying at the hotel.

Check in was a breeze and the porter was really friendly and offered us assistance if we had any questions through out our stay.

While all of the staff were friendly and we enjoyed Sun City; it lacks both the quality of amenities and finish in the hotel as well we basic systems in place you would associate a 5 * rating with.

The breakfast is fantastic, and again the staff friendly, professional and helpful.

However as a family of 4 I found this was the perfect hotel for us pool was very clean , staff always seemed friendly ( got the odd one that wasn’t

The staff is always friendly, rooms cleans and lots to do in the resort.

the reason why we give it 4 stars, is because compared to the palace hotel which we visited on site, we feel this hotel is definately more a 4* than 5. if you are going to expect 4* then u will be very happy :)

Pros:

really helpful friendly staff throughout, including attentive maids.

The staff are friendly and its beautifully structured,  the human caretaking and service aspect is lacking.

Had a nice time, and our teenage kids enjoyed it.

So we really had lots of fun with our son and it was a lovely break.

So it would be best suited to families with younger kids.

Thanks to those named staff for making it a wonderful stay despite my daughter killing me with the moaning.

A place we have always loved to go to and thought even through our tough year, let’s splurge and spoil ourselves and our 9 month old son to a great trip.

It is save and we, as parents can also relax whilst the kids are having fun.

At breakfast their was a chap playing a baby grand piano seemed to always start with a hymn and then nice music all very civilised with reference to a bygone era.

A great waterpark with slides for toddlers as well as teens.

He assessed the child and said that she needed a chest x-ray, that the ambulance will take us to the nearest hospital

-only one item on the kids menu - spaghetti.

They also said that their was a children's pool that was heated.

We did the Valley of the Waves on the Saturday and it was loads of fun for the kids.

but you get that everywhere) room was clean and the maids did a great job everyday tidying up after us (well the kids).

Checked in on the 21st of December for 3 nights.This was my 3rd time staying at this hotel and due to the first 2 stays being dreadful my husband called Asanda (Guest relations manager) prior to our stay to ask her if she would ensure that our stay would be a good and clean one, I have a 9 month old baby and 4 year old daughter therefore cleanliness is imperative.

we were a group of 25 people including lots of children.

we were told R20-50 is fine for things like shuttle bus, bell boy, drinks trips (R10 also ok for bar) and then 10% for restaurants and more like R100 for taxis etc.

Calling reception falls on deaf ears, one waits 20 min while requesting a room change that has actually been checked which when the person arrives, nothing has been checked
And no porter arrives to move things over

Our phone in our room didn’t work for 2 days, people arrived to fix it at 10pm?!?

We had a family room and we had to phone reception to ask for the sofa bed to be made up.

It took three calls, then the front desk advised at about 19:30 that the “manager still had to decide”.

Hotel does not provide iron and ironing board in every room and you have to request from housekeeping who keeps on calling you several times to be returned back.

In a,day I would make 3 calls to housekeeping for thi gs that should have been basic housekeeping.

The phone did not work for outgoing calls.

The really outdated non working telephone in the bathroom has come off the wall

The pharmacist insisted that there should be a doctor on call and I need to follow up up with management.

I can't call reception with the hotel phone, as it is broken.

however the furniture was not cleaned properly & we had to call housekeeping to clean the TV cabinet & the table.

She was on her phone playing when I approached, it was too much of an inconvenience for her to service me.

but it eventually was sorted out after a few phone calls.

We ended up needing to call the IT guy as the television was not working.

we kept calling each 15 minutes and the kept saying that it's getting ready we finally gave up at 6:20 and came to the main restaurant ( opens 6:25 ) had an apple (the tea was not ready yet ).

I would barely push to call it a 3 star as I've stayed in many big brand hotels which are 3 star and received better service.

It took nearly an hour for someone to come fix it after calling 4 times.

Total experience was not worth the amount paid

- Rooms are very dated

- Family room is laughably small

- Asked for a paid upgrade to a suite and was  told that they refuse to accommodate a child in a suite .

We were quoted 3 times the amount paid for an additional night and told that the hotel was fully booked, when in reality it was empty.

Its too expensive and not worth the price tag, uncomfortable bed and total disregard if you are a couple or not to ensure the bed is suitable.

The pool bar is expensive and you pay a heavy premium on Food and drinks.

We went to spend a weekend and phased some golf at Sun City - stayed in the Cascades it was such an expensive room booked a superior double room

My family and I have recently returned from a very expensive 3-night stay at the Cascades.

though you have to pay for absolutely everything, including the Gym)

Soho has better restaurants in my opinion.

Most expensive accommodation on my trip for the most disappointing accommodation on my trip.

The amount of money we have paid for 2 nights for this hotel is unbelievable.

It was not worth the money paid..the bed was comfortable.

Our waiter at the Pool area disappeared for well over 30 minutes and when we eventually gave up and went to the bar to pay we were told by the manager to wait there while he went to find our waiter.

She  went on to say that if she had to call a doctor it would be at my expense ( yet this was a free service)  and that she would suggest that I go to the hospital.

Sad to see their high pricing didn't result in maintenance (white stain on couch, chipped cabinetry in bathroom, torn pillows on the bed).

Breakfast was dreadful, it may be included in the price

we expect standards for the amount that we paid

At the price of the hotel you are better off staying elsewhere.

The entertainment centre has a variety of restaurants and take away options  from Spur, The Raj, Steers, Debonairs to name a few.

Robert the pianist really blessed us with his musical talent.

Rather go to restaurant in the entertainment centre.

Service was great,  Views amazing, staff attentive, 
Entertainment first class.

From there we went to Bocado for dinner and also experience the most talented female singer.

Also, there's a break-away room, a rope walking course, a maze, a cinema and other forms of entertainment nearby.

It is close to all amenities including the entertainment centre, valley of the waves and a host of restaurants and casino.The breakfast was excellent.

The entertainment centre walking distance with allot of restaurants and entertainment.

I keep on thinking about that disaster hotel reality show.

The pool area of the hotel was definitely not maintained as no staff perform clean up services during the day.

It has dozens of food options and even entertainment.

but we chose to eat in the ‘new’ entertainment area where there was a good selection of restaurants.

Apart from that, going to the entertainment center felt like going to a food court in a shopping mall.

Though, I think they have destroyed the old glamour of the Entertainment Centre, which is now just a big food hall with some kids' games and sundry, poor shops for good measure.

The entertainment center has been renovated

The Entertainment Center has also had a huge revamp looking, fresh, tasteful, brightly lighten and offering a wide range of stores and restaurants to choose from.

Cascades is centrally located across from the entertainment complex.

Although I was impressed with the upgraded convention centre and entertainment area, the Cascades hotel was a huge disappointment.

Keeping in mind Sun City is exactly what it says on the box (an entertainment resort with a giant casino and mall-like entertainment arcade/eating area, surrounded by a gorgeous nature reserve), I took my two (teen and pre-teen) kids for a short stay and we all really enjoyed our time at the hotel/resort.

This time the experience was disappointing due to the damp drainage smell in our room and bathroom.

Bathroom stinks of sewage constantly - probably leaking in services shaft, extractor fan in bathroom doesnt work, carpets is old, brown, faded and dusty- allegies to dust.

but there is not enough tubes  for rides in peak times, the best is to go before 10 and then after 3 pm, the "sea" is also dirty with all kind of debris floating araound, the same as the real sea.

The beautiful forest is unkept and the river water features doesn’t go so it’s smelly and green - it’s sad to say

When we were finally given a room, it was not the one we booked, had a balcony and we specifically requested no balcony (we have a toddler), and it was a disgusting room.

We changed rooms the minute we checked in because of the bad sewer odor coming from the bathrooms.

however I believe it is a smoking room for the cleaners whilst cleaning rooms.

The bathroom had a terrible smell of a blocked drain an having to bathe in that was unacceptable.

Filthy sliding doors, dirty couches and coushins,exposed plugs I'm beyond shocked

Bathroom itself had a weird smell at random times of the day.

In the 2nd room, there was a strong “sewerage” smell that was nauseating, again not a concern for any of the staff. 4.

We booked a room at the cascades.definetely not 5 star as advertised.in fact all of the 4 stars i stayed at in SA is much better.bedding not good.housekeeping is below average with rooms being made up without the extra touch.rooms are dark and smells of damp.bathrooms are untidy.Breakfast a problem .it takes 25 mins to get a cup of coffee.everybody that you ask,asks somebody else.eventually a lady by the name of jenniffer,who saw we looked unhappy,came and enquired.she apologised and organised our coffe,and kept checking with us if we were ok.a guy by the name of Temoso was the only other guy that was caring and helpful.the breakfast staff needs help and advice from these 2 people.they should be recognised.your service at breakfast is very bad to say the least.

Bathroom smelt terrible and had mould on all silicone joins in the shower.

Damp smell throughout, room and corridor.

Then we arrive at our floor, corridors smell extremely stale.

For a five star hotel it was dissapointing, disgusting and a waste.

The sweat was running down our faces and the fancy mousse cakes were turning runny.

After moving to a new room at 9pm with 2 very restless children we arrived at a dusty smelly room with a rusted kettle and, no 2 pin adapter to charge our cellphones and 2 single beds joined together, this for a family of 4.

but some of the staff were really helpful.

The receptionist was very accommodating on check-in.

Nonetheless, gentlemen like Amos from housekeeping made up for all these with his prompt response.

Again, staff just waiting around, watching 2 people struggling with luggage and a baby in hand as well.

..the security intimidates you with guns like the SWAT team to go back to your room. .

The unit has aircon and TV with ample channels (all sport included) as well as braai facilities.

I enquired about the notice board and activities happening.

We did a game drive and was picked up and returned back to Kingdom.

We made both a self drive into the park, a guided game drive and a bush walk with Mankwe Gametrackers and were picked up in the resort.

The location is perfect if you plan on viaiting the Pilanesberg game reserve.

but perfect location if you want to go into the park for game viewing or go to sun city.

Evening game drive was very informative and we saw lots of animals big and small.

Close to Sun City and the Pilanesberg Game park.

Excellent water activities within the complex for children and adults.

 We were surprised when we arrive at The Kingdom Resort to see all the activities that the Kingdom Resort have.

Very satisfied with the resort, amenities and proximity to Pilanesberg game reserve and sun city is fantastic.

Pools, quad bikes, archery, Trampoline’s and the best secret of all - a wonderful beauty spa for parents.

The Resturant was great ,food very good and staff all attentive and friendly.

Our every interaction with the Kingdom staff was excellent - the staff where friendly, professional, courteous and really went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable.

The breakfast and other food/drink were good and the staff friendly and accommodating.

This is a nice resort for families with small children, the staff were friendly and the unit quite modern and clean,

Some were friendly and gentle, and others were not.

The reception was friendly  and explained about all the amenities which sound amazing to be honest for a first timer there.

Accommodation is superb and staff are friendly.

My friends and I visited the kingdom for my 18 birthday, not only was the service and accommodation wonderful the staff were super friendly, helpful and accommodating.

We had breakfast in the resort and also ate dinner in the restaurant both nights and found the staff and food to be great - super friendly and plenty of choice for us all.

Most of the staff is friendly and the menu extensive.

It's quiet and the staff is friendly and ready to assist any time.

The effort, service and assistance provided by the  managers, staff, chefs, waiters and barmen were astonishing and friendly!

We really enjoyed our stay here and the people were very friendly. keep up the good work guys :)

The resort facilities are plentiful and there is lots of interesting things for the kids to do and many interesting walks for the family to enjoy.

Secondly, the kids activities such as rock climbing, quad bikes, bungee etc.

Thembi was great in the morning as she was so kind to our baby girl too.

Excellent accommodations and entertainment for kids.

but overall Great main pool + extra kids pool with super tubes.

Beautiful, tranquil and well run resort with great facilities to keep your children happy and occupied - splash pool water park is a must!

The resort in superbly maintained with loads of entertainment options, especially well suited to families with kids.

We stayed here as a family of 4 with two teenagers on our way to a short safari in Madikwe.

Would really go back especially with the kids.

Our boys loved the quad bike experience and the reptile expo from Predator World.

The whole place was great - clean, well equipped, good facilities for the kids and close to both Pilanesberg and sun city.

On a positive note and besides the above, we had a great weekend and the children enjoyed the pools immensely.

People loitering in the corridors outside our bedroom, kids screaming every 5 minutes.

There is also a second, larger pool with a lot of slides and kid play areas available.

we recently went to the Kingdom Resort and i am certainly going back with the kids next time.

Another thing to note about this unit ( 55A) the area generators are just off the braai area and main room so if you are a light sleeper expect to be woken at night if power cuts happen and not to be able to use the outside area to relax and braai  as it’s too loud .

We were woken very early each day by the neighbours talking and coughing.

but was rather disappointed in the end..

We stayed in Unit 4, its part of a block of units situated about 100m from the main road and entrance to the resort, the noise from the cars was irritating but barrable, but the noise from staff chit-chatting at the gate especially in the early mornings was extremely frustrating.

So, it was quite bright and noisy at tines.

Our room was also luckily far away from the noisy people.

It's been  2MONTH ever since the incident happened and as of now there's still no update from the security and as for management I'm the one who always call for update and last week he said that he would call during the week and  that he spoke to the director and he's waiting to hear from him on whether the insurance company would pay off or not.

BUT there is NO soundproofing between units.

although very noisy as one can hear everything in the other attached units.

We needed a quiet getaway and we get here and the neighbors are hella noisy.

Friday and Saturday night we hardly slept a wink because of this noise!

No apology, we waiting to hear which room we can get, an hour later.

Nothing special about this resort, in fact very noisy thanks to the road, the furniture in the unit was dirty and some days the unit didn't actually get cleaned.

The rooms are basically shared in a house, the website does not explain this, we could hear the neighbors tv. lol the receptionist couldnt believe other people was in our room, I had to tell her if she doesnt believe me come and see for yourself, She was like "How I cant believe?"

This is not a place to go to for a couples to get away as its very busy and noisy
