Great place, good for accommodation, lots of restaurants, entertainment, casino, golf, walks, game reserve.

We booked into stay one night in Cabanas on our way to Tambuti Game Reserve.

The game drives around the Pilanesberg National Park also leave from this central hub of Sun City.

The Valley of the Waves is a huge hit with the kids and since we went during winter it was not crowded at all and the kids enjoyed the various water slides and activities.

The staff is so friendly wherever you go on the resort.There is so many activities to do.

They provide a good base to explore all the activities at Sun City.

In short, it's a nice ressort for family weekends or teenagers parties as they have lots of different activities around.

So just use the room for sleeping and showering and enjoy the activities around you lots to offer at sun city.

We did a self drive in the game park - a short drive from Sun City through the resort.

Close proximity to the entertainment facilities.

It’s the cheapest of all the hotels on the sun city property and works since there are so many activities that the room will only be used for sleeping.

Overall quite pleasant and I am happy to see the hotel is being well maintained as it is one of best conference venues.

I stayed here purely out of curiosity using it a s base for nearby game drives.

there is plenty of activities for young and old.

The shuttle service made it very easy to get around the resort and there are many activities to keep kids busy.

Sun City now has a lot of restaurants and takeaways and many other activities.

The shower drain was blocked the next morning, so we could not shower.

The next morning I woke up at 04:30 and wanted to have a shower before another day in the National Park.

Front desk doesn't always pick up, and service is slow when it's not related to housekeeping (e.g., hot water wasn't working, divider between room and shower/toilet was broken and had to get both fixed after numerous calls).

The rooms are so small specially when you book a family room, the shower is old model, the have a beautiful green golf gardens with lake views and the pool is absolute suitable for all ages, All they need to do is to renew the rooms and the showers

Toilet flushing was broken and had to be pressed again to stop.

You could hear your noisy neighbors showering at 2am and there was music playing at the pool until about 7pm everyday.

It's a pity that the shower and toilet are practically in the same room as the bedroom

There is a shortage of water and guests are asked to not flush the toilets unless really necessary; as a consequence the bathrooms smell slightly of urine.

The sink problem was fixed twice which is good

The fact that the bathroom stands enclosed at the end of the room makes it prone to humidity and after one bath you can really feel it.

The bar at Soho where the WC game SA vs NZ was screened, packed with guests, guess what - one barman!

The bathroom was small and not clean as well with dirty overused towels.

Broken mirror, leaking toilet and generally off putting.

Also the family rooms do not have baths, only showers.

You couldn't close the shower door properly and the aircondition remote was a bit too dirty.

Also I forgot my toothbrush and they charged for a new one, not a big deal

The bathroom had plenty of light with the shower on one end and the toilet on the other with a huge mirror and sink in the middle.

Disappointing, air con that sounded like a tractor all night (we did report it) in a room without any other ventilation.

The nicest part of the breakfast was the chakalaka, grapefruit and the pineapples.

Breakfast time was long for people who are not early birds, from 6h00 to 11AM, and cater all kinds of Breakfast foods.

The breakfast was good and the amenities are superb.

Had lots of fun we had monkeys join us for breakfast .

On Monday, 21st, we went for breakfast, the lady that was serving the breakfast at the end that was not busy, we asked her what sausages this was and repeatedly she told us it was lamb sausages.

Breakfast was good and we had lunch regularly at the pool bar which we had no issues with food quality or service, we enjoyed everything we ordered.

Crazy expensive (lake cruise was affordabe) breakfast made for the masses so eat early or live with the mostly dried out food.

We basically came midweek so it was fairly quiet during the week - breakfast was never a issue for us.

As for the lady in charge of the breakfast in the morning.

Breakfasts in the open plan dining room have a good variety of food with omlette and eggs being cooked to order at the egg stations.

Breakfast was exceptional with a wide range of dietary requirements.

The breakfast (which is included) was good with a wide variety of options.

Overall, a decent cheaper place to stay at in Sun City.

The room cost also includes Wave Pool etc entry and the pool at the Cabana's is good as well.

The price was very reasonable and the staff were very helpful.

It is a very good and decent place to stay for the price in Sun City.

Food, everywhere, and priced according to your pocket and requirements.

but watch the price and if there's not too much in it, upgrade to Cascades or Palace for luxury because this isn't a luxurious stay but is a clean, friendly and convenient stay.

We stayed at Sun City Cabanas, one of the less expensive accommodations at Sun City, it was great.

You also paid only the first visit to the Maze where after it was also free for the whole weekend.

Economically, this is the cheapest hotel in the Sun City.

I had arranged to have a bottle of campaign waiting in the room for us to celebrate, when I asked how much it would cost the receptionist informed me that it's complimentary if you're celebrating a Birthday, which is an awesome touch!

I stayed at Soho (which is more expensive than the Cabanas) the year before and I would go as far as to say that the Cabanas was a far superior stay than Soho.

Lots to do for the children- even if most activities were at an extra cost.

The pool area superb,the trip was really enjoyable.There are super fun activities like jet skiing and boat cruises.You will have a great time for a cheaper price

Everything else is very pricey, especially the Maze at R150 a person for a very quick wander around.

I booked the family room and it cost me R6k+ for two nights.

My kids were especially delighted with the new zip-line course and insisted on doing it twice - really worth the R195 you pay to see the joy on their faces!

I don’t mind paying $230 for a nice room, I’ve paid two or three times that for very nice lodging.

The family rooms are pretty much normal rooms with a sleeper bed and about 2m2 of extra luggage space and a higher price.

The Cabanas is value for money accommodation that gives you the feel that it is or more expensive than what you are actually paying.

Uncomfortable furniture with bare minimum basic linen both indoors and outdoors and very noisy unapologetic families is exactly what you get.

but very noisy, recommend ear plugs or switching off.

At night there are also noisy and rowdy guests and the only way to try get any sleep is to keep all doors sealed shut with the aircon on (which wouldn't stop swinging left to right non stop and blowing right onto us which we had to switch off).

Day turns to night, and the nightmare of a noisy night began.

but with the hotel unable to control the noise levels (other guests confirmed that we were not being unreasonable as they were also kept up) this will not be a place to consider visiting again.

Activities wise, there was a wide verity on offer such as jet skiing; safari; a maze; beer tasting; alligator park and crazy golf.

The jet skis at the dam need replacement.

Busses run regularly and valley of the waves nice, pity that the noise of closing doors and loud talking in the morning spoils a lie in

The following day we were woken up to housekeeping barging into our room and putting the lights on at 8am without knocking.

I never once saw anyone even attempt to clear it out and there was a constant ‘skin’ on the pool which was revolting to look at.

but the breakfast variety is very average, waiting queues are just ridiculous and the noise levels are very unpleasant.

As a non smoker I don't see why I should be woken up early every morning by smokers talking and smoking in the walkway outside our room, resort management must sort out a smoking policy for this resort, its not even in line with South African laws on smoking.

If you are looking for a quiet holiday to recharge, do not go to Sun City during peak times.

my disappointment was when I wanted to enquire about the activities I could do at night because I checked in late in the afternoon, I was referred to the activities desk which is opposite the reception desk, I found 2 ladies there, who were just not helpful at all, my questions were given one word answers, it was like I was disturbing them, why have a desk for activities when everything you ask you will be referred to the welcome centre?

The rooms were very small, and got pretty cold at night.

but the rooms are very small and no windows that open so you have to use the Air Con.

Its close to water world, where you can go on Jet Ski, water tube, parasailing and water snake.

Sun City also has two very great golf courses, running, cycling tracks and many water sport activities.

Nice big room with lake views, big comfortable bed, all mod cons, very good buffet breakfast, plenty of water activities at the back of the hotel.

This is a great place especially outdoor activities like the valley of waves, water slides, the lost city and not forgetting the game.

Due to the slope of the ground, rain water and mud tend to get washed on to the ground floor standard room passages.

Pool, putt-putt, water sports and go-carting on the property.

The surround grounds and swimming pool facilities are nice, including water based activities.

Although August is winter in South Africa, it was sunny all the time and we even enjoyed the water parks.

The water center is fantastic, the boat cruise was our favorite activity and offered great value for money.

Over here you have access to river where you can do water sports from river rafting to jet skiing.

Theres ample water sports and a bird and animal sanctuary.

This lovely snack bar situated on the man made lake where most water sport activities can be done is wonderful.

Good location and garden , nice place for family with children , close to all water sport, there were a lot of animal in the garden and my children were busy all the time, the breakfast was good , i suggest this hotel to family with children

Covid regs enforced all the time, except in restrurants, breakfast venue and the buses ( packed to the max)..so they will stop u if you walking in the open grass area,

We weren’t told breakfast times, WiFi codes, which restaurants were open when or what activities there are to do.

Sun City in general was great and a huge variety of activities to choose from.

I attended the Nedbank Golf Tournament in November and we were there on various occasions in December 2019 and again for Valentine's weekend.

Restaurants to suit every taste and activities are plentiful too.

There were Easter activities for the kids that the adults could still partake in.

Access to the valley of the waves was also a laborious process and the Brew Monkey Sports Bar, well was a bar with little draft beer and no sports Tv's working.

On the positive side the hotel has a lovely pool area which includes some slides and the resort itself has lots of entertainment for kids albeit at a rather steep price.

The close proximity to the entertainment centre also makes it convenient, especially if you are travelling with kids.

As a proud South African I am disgusted at this as a venue.

Although we visited the venue during July, a more quite time at Sun City, everything was still of high quality, the service, the food, venue maintenance, beautiful gardens and very friendly, helpful staff!

Hotel is in close proximity to the entertainment centre which has an abundance of facilities.

Positives:
-Morning game drive was amazing with Mankwe Game Trackers - Make sure you get Patrick.

I like the close proximity of the hotel to the conference venue.

There are endless other activities for the whole family like quad biking, the Elephant experience and so much more.

The golfing experience and activities  was memorable and wish we had more time to do all the other remaining activities.

All in all the external activities are wonderful

We had an early start the next morning to go on a game drive, so can’t comment on breakfast.

Breakfast was good and fast, and the wait for eggs and omelettes was not long.

Breakfast at the Cascades is good, with a full continental selection, teas, coffees and fruit.

We had a great time at the breakfast buffet.

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to him play during breakfast.

There is no control at breakfast and things quickly get frantic for everyone.

The breakfast was tasty and there was lots of choice.

The hotel is amazing from the room, to the breakfast and has a fantastic pool.

The muffins and the fruit scones is the best that I have eaten anywhere.

A place we have always loved to go to and thought even through our tough year, let’s splurge and spoil ourselves and our 9 month old son to a great trip.

It is save and we, as parents can also relax whilst the kids are having fun.

At breakfast their was a chap playing a baby grand piano seemed to always start with a hymn and then nice music all very civilised with reference to a bygone era.

A great waterpark with slides for toddlers as well as teens.

He assessed the child and said that she needed a chest x-ray, that the ambulance will take us to the nearest hospital

-only one item on the kids menu - spaghetti.

They also said that their was a children's pool that was heated.

We did the Valley of the Waves on the Saturday and it was loads of fun for the kids.

but you get that everywhere) room was clean and the maids did a great job everyday tidying up after us (well the kids).

Checked in on the 21st of December for 3 nights.This was my 3rd time staying at this hotel and due to the first 2 stays being dreadful my husband called Asanda (Guest relations manager) prior to our stay to ask her if she would ensure that our stay would be a good and clean one, I have a 9 month old baby and 4 year old daughter therefore cleanliness is imperative.

we were a group of 25 people including lots of children.

we were told R20-50 is fine for things like shuttle bus, bell boy, drinks trips (R10 also ok for bar) and then 10% for restaurants and more like R100 for taxis etc.

Calling reception falls on deaf ears, one waits 20 min while requesting a room change that has actually been checked which when the person arrives, nothing has been checked

Our phone in our room didn’t work for 2 days, people arrived to fix it at 10pm?!?

We had a family room and we had to phone reception to ask for the sofa bed to be made up.

It took three calls, then the front desk advised at about 19:30 that the “manager still had to decide”.

Hotel does not provide iron and ironing board in every room and you have to request from housekeeping who keeps on calling you several times to be returned back.

In a,day I would make 3 calls to housekeeping for thi gs that should have been basic housekeeping.

The phone did not work for outgoing calls.

The really outdated non working telephone in the bathroom has come off the wall

The pharmacist insisted that there should be a doctor on call and I need to follow up up with management.

I can't call reception with the hotel phone, as it is broken.

however the furniture was not cleaned properly & we had to call housekeeping to clean the TV cabinet & the table.

She was on her phone playing when I approached, it was too much of an inconvenience for her to service me.

but it eventually was sorted out after a few phone calls.

We ended up needing to call the IT guy as the television was not working.

we kept calling each 15 minutes and the kept saying that it's getting ready we finally gave up at 6:20 and came to the main restaurant ( opens 6:25 ) had an apple (the tea was not ready yet ).

I would barely push to call it a 3 star as I've stayed in many big brand hotels which are 3 star and received better service.

It took nearly an hour for someone to come fix it after calling 4 times.

Total experience was not worth the amount paid

- Rooms are very dated

- Family room is laughably small

- Asked for a paid upgrade to a suite and was  told that they refuse to accommodate a child in a suite .

We were quoted 3 times the amount paid for an additional night and told that the hotel was fully booked, when in reality it was empty.

Its too expensive and not worth the price tag, uncomfortable bed and total disregard if you are a couple or not to ensure the bed is suitable.

The pool bar is expensive and you pay a heavy premium on Food and drinks.

We went to spend a weekend and phased some golf at Sun City - stayed in the Cascades it was such an expensive room booked a superior double room

My family and I have recently returned from a very expensive 3-night stay at the Cascades.

though you have to pay for absolutely everything, including the Gym)

Soho has better restaurants in my opinion.

Most expensive accommodation on my trip for the most disappointing accommodation on my trip.

The amount of money we have paid for 2 nights for this hotel is unbelievable.

It was not worth the money paid..the bed was comfortable.

Our waiter at the Pool area disappeared for well over 30 minutes and when we eventually gave up and went to the bar to pay we were told by the manager to wait there while he went to find our waiter.

She  went on to say that if she had to call a doctor it would be at my expense ( yet this was a free service)  and that she would suggest that I go to the hospital.
