While I was there one night another guest had a very long and loud Skype call with her mother while sitting in the courtyard.

We enjoyed the really friendly staff in the hotel and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Air con rooms are very clean with huge beds and a great wet room.

The room was very clean and the customer service was exemplary.

The only problem is that the Wi-Fi is very slow in the rooms,

Only down-side to note was the water flow on the shower was slow.

but has no ventilation so there was visible damp on the walls and ceilings, and the whole room and bedroom smelled of damp
- The wet room takes a long time  to dry our after a shower
- The water pressure wasn't great (not ideal when so close to the beach) and was either hot or cold

Overall, we wouldn't return to Dream Palace if we re-visit Mirissa (unless they sort out the damp).

The son told me that they want to renovate the rooms for next season and build a wall at the street side.

but all the best restaurants can be found along here, so I would say the Villa is in an excellent location, tucked back from the noisy and busy beach but close enough to be swimming in the sea in no time at all.

The villa is a bit inland which was a good thing as the beachfront properties could be a bit noisy from busy restaurants etc.

The room was very clean and with all amenities required, the breakfast was excellent and a big portion, the beach is only a few mins walk from the villa and plenty of great restaurants nearby as well.

Rooms are clean, light, spacious, everything is right to the place, and same applies to entire villa which results in a super comfort staying.

A lot of attention to small details like filtered water system, first aid kit available, board games on hand, beach towels etc situated on a quiet street with a short cut of 10 mins to the beach.. A beautiful peacock roams the grounds and the Mascot “Simba the dog” is a gorgeous Labrador that greets you upon arrival.. A clean room, great breakfast, large comfortable bed and and service with a smile every day. Perfection

The villa rooms are very clean and can be cleaned as often as you wish.

Lovely big spotless room with an enormous comfy bed,  settee, fridge freezer, safe,  single bed and a nice wet room and balcony overlooking lush trees where I could watch peacocks,  monkeys, kingfishers,  lizards and more.

The room was clean and well maintained and had English plug sockets, something we wish we had known before.

We had a great stay at Mandara Resort.The staff hospitality is beyond 5* hotel.They welcome us warmly and the rooms are clean and tiddy.The food was delicious and had a superb buffet spread.The location is very quiet and  calm.

it was a good trip to hot Sri-Lanka from snowy Saint-Petersburg, The Hotel was good, it was with condition, clean room, a bottle of water for each day, cleaning service was very good.

Our room was very clean and comfortable and faced the Indian Ocean.

I found the room service to be very professional and found my room just as clean every afternoon when i returned.

We had a room with a plunge pool which was really nice, the plunge pool was a decent size and clean as were the rooms.

The hotel is immaculately clean and the rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels provided, beds made etc.

Initially I was unhappy with the room assigned due to poor location and heavy mildew.

Our room was on the first floor and we passed lots of debris,equipment lying by the stairwell.

From then we were moved to a room that smelled as if it were a dirty toilet.

We had to request the sheets to be changed immediately as it was soiled.

Waking to our room there was an awful dirty mop smell in the corridor which was off putting.

The grounds are not well kept, the beach in front is filthy.

however the room it’s self could be better, AC was inadequate, outside shower water drainage bad, insects, ants and flies in room and restaurant.

The first room we had smelt and was so close to the building site that at 6am when they started work we were unable to sleep.

Restaurant service was slow as well, they brought us the wrong order, and there was the unmistakeable smell of fish oil in our vegetarian fried rice.

Then we entered the room and there was a strong cement smell like they had just plastered the room.

We could smell chemicals throughout the day.

We smelled chemicals many times while in the middle of the water.

But specifically the beach upfront of the hotel is brownish and stinks.

The balcony was dirty and the bannister was being eaten by termites so that piles of debris was building on the floor.

It was hot had a smell of not being used for sometime

The men serving us lingered around to the point of making us uncomfortable, despite us looking the other way or walking away and would stare at us for long periods of time which made us feel unsafe.

The bar/restaurant had an odd smell, the food was only average, could have done much better.

But there are countless small irritations:

Vague smell of mould and damp cement everywhere.

Front of the house need to be more attentive on guest.I reached 12.30pm and I got my room 2.30pm.I have to wait outside with my 8months old baby and daughter..I hope next we can get more details on our stay.

total 1.5 hrs waiting for luggage from reception to room.

Negotiate hard and 1500 rupees will get you there in 1 hour  ;  alternatively walk 50 meters to the main road, turn left for about 150 meters and wait at bus stop  for preferably a no.

Once we ate a la carte and had to wait for over an hour for our meals,

We waited over an hour and a half for our bags to be taken to our room, In the end I carried our bags myself,

As we were in a coach we had to wait for a mini bus or could walk down to this hotel as it is accessed by a narrow road.

After a ridiculously long wait they came out with a plate of grilled fish and vegetables!

We had to wait at the reception for a long time till the receptionist brings relevant documents for check in.

One day we had to wait about 20 minutes for towels as they said "the towels are being dried now".

Had to wait more than 1.5 hours for my Daughter’s lunch as they “forgot”.

If you are lucky, you dont have to wait long to get one.

After we waited for the food to be cleared, I saw in his face that the waiter realised he'd forgotten the parmesan.

There was no wifi in the room and we had to wait until past 10pm to get the babies cots.

but if you plan a trip in the morning and wait for breakfast 40 min than it's really frustrating.

The management was poor and we had to wait quite a bit when we got locked out of our rooms because even with your keys you cannot get into your rooms if you happen to lock it from the inside (this did not make any sense at all).

When we arrived, we had to wait for our room and in doing so, we realise the property was really small and resemble more of a motel.

Waited more than 45 minutes to receive our room after the arrival.

Switched on the A/c and it seemed to blow out hot air , waited for 30 mins no difference , until that time switched on the TV ,  it was not working.

The staff were clearing up around you by 9pm, and this was usually in an annoying way which involved clearing one glass/ fork at a time rather than waiting until every one was finished.

I booked the room for 3 nights, qnd everyday it just became worse.be it service, food, room or water everything is just 0 star.

Rooms were perfect,food and buffet would have been much better (not worth for the price at all) we had to purchase water bottles even during the meal time which was triple the price, better to purchase water from outside (even a 5L can for your whole stay).

Both days we struggled to get hot water for tea and even cups were a precious commodity!

As the water for the hot-tea tasted like metal, we asked for clean, hot water.

We were left for 2 hours in the hot foyer with not so much as  the offer of a glass of water.

The gym advertised is also faulty, the running machines were not working and water was on the floor making it extremely slippery.

Then it might also be possible to do some snorkeling - when we were there, the water was too disturbed, so one only saw sand clouds.

To top it all when checking out I was told I will be charged for a small bottle of water.

but the water was cold and it was in the shade all day so didn't even get any warmth from the sun, so unfortunately we paid extra for something we couldn't even use.

The 2nd day, 30 min without water in the room even in the toilet!!!

Unfortunately the air-conditioning leaked water all over the floor when it was first turned on (fixed within an hour of reporting it).

We were not offered water and had to wait on waiter possibly because we are Sri Lankan’s and not white.

It was supposed to be Vegetable gratin, what actaully showed up were chunks of vegetables in cheese flavoured water.

It was not well lit and we had to call the reception a couple of times as there was no water.

As it is located right on the point where the river exits to the sea the waters in front of the hotel are not suitable for swimming.

There was no hot water for shower, and one would say that it was not a necessity for the hot weather,

The beach is a little dirty and there are definitely nicer beaches in the area (Mirissa, Dikwalla).

This area of the Beach is also not to crowded and the surf instructors are really good.

The owner, Lahiru, is ready to help and solve any problem, like broken phone screen, hehe.

To make it worse, some boards are clearly broken or dinged to a point of being risky to take it out to the water.

My board got broken during my flight and he managed to repaired in one day.

there is some construction noise during the day.

100 meters from the beach, 10 min walking from the surf spot, clean rooms, friendly staff, delicious food, chilling pool, yoga & surf classes every day and entertainment evenings! I spent two weeks in that camp ( only surfed) , and would like to spend there at least two more:)

The double room at TS2 was clean, big enough and got a fan.

The food is great and the rooms are clean.

Comfortable clean rooms, great location, cool international crowd from all around the world, competent instructors all with different approaches and tricks.

My room was very clean, and had a nice balcony to hang out over the pool and dry my suits on.

Boards were in good shape, great instructors, super nice spacious clean rooms, amazing views, and the best food I ever had during my whole trip in Asia, I am obsessed with their menu!

The rooms were clean and spacious – more than enough for a surf hostel.

We loved the fact that this place is a bit outside the city away from the tourist crowds - It is only about 10-15 min walk along the beach into Weligama or one can take a tuk tuk (LKR 200) or  ride the local bus (one stop) (LKR15)

The is no security lock on the door and the ground floor single glazed slid using doors facing the beach are not very secure either.

It lacked any degree of planning - the seating area was away from the lights; the door onto the balcony stuck on the runners; the bedding was working towards the thousand wash grey; the bathroom was vast and dark, and because the jacuzzi bath leaked (there was no separate shower) it was damp and attracted mossies.

The air con in the room was very noisy and the doors to the balcony had big gaps in (probably how the lizard got into the bathroom!).

We were originally given a ground floor room looking straight into the middle of the pool with no privacy and tiny bolt the only way to secure the sliding door.

though large, was run down with poorly fitting balcony doors, that did not even meet when closed, hence a big gap, allowing Mosquitos in the room.

Did not think that we would get a room that stunk of urine or that you could not lock the patio doors (more of that later).

Worst thing is an extremly noisy night club next door.

Also if you want to get a good night sleep you wouldn’t stay here and there is a night club next door and kept us up till 5am blasting music.

The lock on the balcony door is gone and it seemed like something was wrong with the entrance door lock too.

but included a mosquito preventer (plug-in) but those off the ground floor would be less likely to be pilfered if you forgot to bolt the patio doors - the only invaders we had were mosquitoes but largely zapped by the electric preventers!

Despite vigilance in keeping the doors shut they still managed to get in somehow.

The shower room is not very convenient, hardly lit, has 180cm door (watch your head),

So tired and yet so hard to sleep because of the bar stools and of a massive party next door with firecrackers every hour.

Which me and my brother were staying in 209 there were several problems firstly by the second day there was a leak in the ceiling near the patio door and when we reported it to housekeeping they said it just happens from time to time and just cleaned the puddle (right. .)

As soon as we open the door the smell of damp/mould was very strong, then we noticed black mould in the bedroom and bathroom.

I paid 1,000 rupees for a piece of chicken with no meat and cold chips right next door that's the comparison.

but not well thought trough – the door could not be closed unless you used your shoulder to press it in and the bathtub has not curtains so it gets wet all over when you shower (there is no separate shower).

The worst thing was that the door was stuck to get on the balcony!

The balcony door was so stiff that it took a huge effort just to get it open.

We arrived at this hotel after driving around the area looking for somewhere decent to stay and that had direct beach access.

On our last day the hotel also could not arrange a driver for us

Our tour guide and driver Ashan recommended this hotel and booked it for us and he got exactly what we wanted and saved us money too!

We landed here after our crooked taxi driver delivered us to misnomer that is the "Paradise Beach Resort" . .

Our driver Malith (I strongly recommend him - mammothmalith@gmail.com) took us to that place.

They were nice and friendly and the hotel also provides accommodation for drivers.

However on their site and by phone (our driver called) they also have family bungalows for 120$

The bungalow is 2 floors with 2 king beds and 1 single bed.

All started with checking in, we checked on booking.com if they've available rooms and decided to drive directly there.

however we did go for a drive to see a snake farm if that's your pleasure ! !

The hotel arranged a cab for us when we left for negombo, a very nice driver and not too expensive either.

we surfed at Weligama so we took the took took every day for 15 minues driving to Weligama bay, dont miss the whales watching and the fish market at the harbour every morning.

My wife and I are in our mid forties and were on a 10 day trip of Sri Lanka which included a 7 day tour with a car and driver.

Also had a brilliant tour thanks to Diethelm Travel, Sri Lanka and our very knowledgeable and polite driver Sujith!

As we continued on our trip down the coast, we were recommended this hotel by our driver.

We were dreading the drive down of about 5-6 hours and we go there inside 3 which was a relief.

but to get to it, you have to drive away from the main road.

We booked a room based on the recommendation of our driver as we were leaving Hikkaduwa to find a better location.

but Razim (not sure how his name was spelt), the tuk tuk driver for the hotel was so friendly and would go out of his way to do anything for you.

Spacious rooms,very helpful reception,competent booking procedure,well stocked buffet meals,cleanliness and competent waiters make the Holiday pleasure perfect.The Chef of the kitchen does a great Job.Also very helpful in car hire and organising trips.I have to thank the Management for the hospitality,all in all a great value for the money spent here!

We spent a wonderful 10 day break in Sri Lanka with our guide, Mr Ranjith Alwis ( www.srilankanexperience,net ) and had the pleasure of staying in this hotel as part of the great value package offered.
