A wide selection of food and the scramble eggs were delicious.

The breakfast was wonderful and I appreciated how I could have two double espressos at no extra charge!

We left early in the morning, before their breakfast, so they packed us a nice breakfast to take on the train without us even asking.

Berna has one of the best buffet breakfasts we've had in Europe, and we could never eat lunch - only dinner because we were so stuffed.

Other/tips: we had a cancelled flight and got in a day late, they held the room and able to check right in and get breakfast still.

The staff from housekeeping, front desk and breakfast servers were friendly and extremely welcoming.

I had to fold my rollator/walker in half to fit it in the elevator.

However, the elevator is small and can only carry 1 person at a time.

Our room was changed without question as the first room we were given was next to the lifts and stairs nothing wrong with the room just my preference not to be close to lifts due to passed experience in other hotels, you tend to get a disturbed sleep.

2 extremely small elevators (1 person and 2 suitcases) took us quickly to our deluxe room.

We were not disturbed by the lifts at all.

The second room had a very small shower -you had to get out to wash both sides -but that was our only complaint.

The shower screen leaked and the bathroom was small and the toilet was in an awkward corner otherwise functional.

but the shower was a very small corner unit (approx 4 sq ft) and unfortunately the shower door did not seal/close properly.

Like others have said the bathroom and shower are small

but the room and bathroom were tiny and that seems to be a common thread among other reviews.

In that particular room the shower is for me a little small

Upon entry into the room, I realised the luggage rack was too small for my suitcase

The hotel is well run, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is absolutely fantastic.

Breakfast was fabulous, so many choices in a beautiful and comfortable setting.The location is very convenient, a five minute walk to the Duomo.

The breakfast was just wonderful- there was a wide variety of choices for every palate from the traditional freshly baked pastries, cheeses, and charcuterie to pancakes, cooked to order eggs, fruit, yogurt, and great coffee.

Spadari readied our soon exceedingly early and offered breakfast, coffee and a Coke Zero.

In addition, the hotel itself was great --- from the rooms, the staff, the breakfast every morning and especially the late afternoon prosecco in the lobby.

A gorgeous yet cozy space with yummy snacks & prosecco.

Breakfast service was impeccable, and the breakfast buffet included simply everything we could possibly want (plus, eggs to order were also offered).

Train runs on the hour all night long, and one elevator, which both kept us awake all night.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a great view and we were next to the stairs and elevator which meant that we did hear noise from other guests.

but a bit noisy when people walk the stairs or use the elevator.

Because there is a front desk in front of the elevator and they are always warmly watching over me.

There is only one elevator in the hotel which only accommodates 3 persons only.

My only suggestion is to ask for a room away from the elevator as noise does travel.

The only ''flaw'' was that the elevator is very small.

The size meant not having to wait for breakfast or the elevator.

If you want a little extra, some luxury, bigger elevator, less hot/cold water fluctuation, then you may want to look elsewhere -

The immediate surrounding of the hotel are a bit stark with forbidding banks and blank walls

however hear the guests showering in the morning through the wall to the next room.

The only negative comment would be that the walls are thin and we were thankful to have older,quiet and early to bed neighbours.

The only drawback were the thin walls, one could hear the conversations and the people walking in the neigbouring rooms, which made sleep dependant how your neigbours were.

but very small (just like most European cities), and the window faces out to the wall and roof tiles of the adjacent building which we didn’t like but didn’t mind too much as we were outside most of the time.

As for the thin walls between rooms, they have only bothered me on one occasion when guests in the neighbouring room came home at one a.m. and (naturally) had things to chat about.

My husband and I stayed at Gran Duca di York for just one night and were charmed by its warm and picturesque ambiance, featuring Old World-inspired artwork and ceramic plates on the walls.

Only one gripe the walls of this room must have been wafer thin can hear people in other rooms quite clearly

Our only complaint would be the walls are a little thin and we had noise from surrounding rooms especially from the bathrooms either side.

Only downside is the walls are paper thin,

The only thing which annoying me a bit is the paper thin wall.

Yellow is the theme, and all the walls will be some sort of yellow.

The art on the walls of the lobby (I was told) were relics from an old church.

There might as well not even be walls between the rooms, at least then one might understand that they provide no (seriously none) noise reduction and not make any noise before 6 am or so.

The only negative is that the walls are very thin and noises, voices and other sounds come through pretty clearly.

Fantastic breakfast and exceptional service from the waitstaff in the dining room.

The front desk, the Concierge, the bartenders, and the breakfast staff in the restaurant or incredibly responsive and lovely.

"Carmen" at breakfast was managing everything so well to make sure all was smooth for all guests.

Lorenzo in the breakfast  area was so kind!

The specially breakfast team and the top of this team Carmen who is so wonderful and the girls is very nice and pleasant, very beautiful and work very hard to accommodate the customers!

Staff service was consistently of the highest standard and two staff were outstanding, Grace on the front desk and Asiana at breakfast service.

In addition; the restaurant and bar staff were OUTSTANDING all of them were super attentive and friendly (the bar opens until late); the breakfast super recommended (loved it) the manager was EXTREMELY attentive to all guests and the guest relation ( Viara) was super knowledgeable and willing to guide and help us around (super plus for her).

Our room was facing a noisy street and with thick glass was still a problem.The breakfast was value for money.

All staff were friendly especially Gilda who is a server at breakfast She made are breakfast more enjoyable.

The breakfast buffet each morning is so fresh and tasty, the staff was so gracious and always helpful especially since we were with our toddler.

Also the rooms were clean and the breakfast was amazing with different kinds of food.

At the time I visited (January 2024) there was a lot of construction around the hotel.

although there was some construction going on right in front of the entrance, we did not hear anything from our room and it was completely fine.

Will be better once the construction in front is completed.

however the construction in front of the hotel a real problem.

My suggestion for future stays is to check on the status of the construction across the street.

It was a bit deceiving at first because of construction

right now there's construction in front of the building- was told another subway line.

The hotel has a good location (though there is a large, loud construction site directly in front of the building.)

We went back downstairs and were sent to a room with an unpleasant odor, probably sewage, maybe related to the construction,

There is currently a large construction opposite the hotel, which i suspect will soon be a source of disturbance to guests.. so be warned.

White noise from the Aircon helps with sleep and choose rooms on the upper floors, the hotel is in a block which is surrounded by major roads and metro construction to the front of the property (although street noise in the bedroom was at a low level).

The construction in the front didn’t bother us at all, since the windows were soundproof.

Due to the construction works right next to, I would suggest to book a room overlooking the inner courtyard.

Construction in front of hotel is obviously not the hotels fault so walk around it, and enjoy.

A lot of construction right infront of it which make it a nightmare to get to it at times by car .

There is major construction going on in front of the hotel (and most the city it seemed),

however the views of downtown were not great from our room because of construction.

(B) Construction right next to the hotel, there's literally a large flat empty site in front of the hotel surrounded by gates.

Every thing was perfact until we did check out and forgot my stritner in the room and they said thet they didnt fund it!

even though we gave them 48 hour notice and they took well over 24 hours to communicate this was not possible and I would be charged.

But then we found a key card placed in the room (most likely from the previous stay), the bathroom's tissue paper box was completely empt, there were no hand towels, and some of the towels had blood stains on them.

To my opinion the big trump card was the breakfast, which was plentiful and extremely tasty.

I then found out at check out that my card would be charged for the city taxes and received a receipt.

it is necessary to transfer to the company that in the XXI century offering a premium internet service charging a fee is a robbery in a hotel of this category.

Although billed as a 5 star hotel, the amenities and high level of customer service are certainly lacking.

One of the lift was faulty and my key card never worked properly.

The issue is with the room logistics - key cards need reprogramming every day, lights in the room are seriously shocking with no marking and the aircon kept turning off and door handle fell off.

Finally, he overcharged me by 10 euros which I only noticed once the card was charged.

Also we were charged for several items from the minibar that we didn’t have, they were taken off e bill

but the parking was at the back of the hotel and they charged us 35€ per night i think it was too much and you dont need a car in milan so its up to your needs.

but then I was charged an additional amount for checking in earlier insisting that on the confirmation it was indicated that the check in was at 14.00.

I asked to have lce cube , they inform me back its charge 20 euro or you can go to the upper floor to get your.

The only downside that I noticed was the room service charge of Euros 8.00 for a glass of milk costing Euros 5 :(
Even the Reception personnel Mr. Matteo & Ms. Anne were exceptionally courteous and helpful.
