This is a great hotel especially for location to the Roman Historical sites around the city.The hotel itself was clean and tidy,the staff are great and helpful,we did not choose to have breakfast as there are so many places close by.the rooms are clean and comfortable

but clearly the first one we were offered it was obvious that previous occupants had been smoking however no problem and we were given another room.

Unfortunately there was a terrible smell of air freshener, it was totally overwhelming in our room.

The only negative point I would like to point out is that too much noise gets in to the rooms from the hall.

The sound proofing was very poor and we could clearly hear our fellow guests in neighbouring rooms as well as people in the corridor.

but there is little to prevent noise from the corridors.

but could not get access in our room, but could in the hallway.

Were it not for banging doors up and down the hallway, double pane windows and the carpeted floor would make for a quiet room.

but you can tell it is not recent and needs a bit of renovations.

Disappointed to find the outside area at the back was under refurbishment.

Our fifth floor room was disappointing certainly not 4 star quality quite tired and in need of updating.

Good clean rooms with all the amenities you want.

Stayed for two nights and our room was clean and very comfortable.

It has big spacious and spotlessly clean rooms most with a good view.It has a restaurant and cafeteria and the food is reasonably priced.

I've stayed for 3 nights in this hotel and I was satisfied because, the staff was nice and the rooms were very clean.

One room smelt of smoke and the other had a loose headboard.

Despite being a non smoking room, there was a smell of stale cigarette smoke throughout.

The room is old and crumbling, wiring that gives you shocks when you turn on the improvised lighting, the carpets are old and filthy, the towels had holes in them.

but he wasn't laughing the next day when he had to buy a new bottle of perfume.

Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed both times I entered the hotel were the strong smells, once of food from the bar area - not in a good way, and the next from cleaning chemicals.

What we found offensive in our room was a penetrating odor as if mother were cooking cabbage down below.

There was only a tiny wifi signal that won't let me use most of the apps, the TV was a CRT one, not a LCD - again, this is a four star hotel - and the bathroom was missing the toilet brush.

Evening meal was awful considering this is a 4 star Hotel, and could not use the dining room until 8.45 p.m.  no choice at all, everyone in our party said the same.

but definitely not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

We stayed in Merida as part of a round trip from Madrid around the South of Spain and unfortunately after staying in other 4 start hotels around Andalucia and Madrid I would say I'm hesitant to agree this Hotel has 4 stars.

In absolute terms, this hotel deserves its 4 stars, and its quality/price ratio is high, especially taking into account the cheap rates I found (around 50 Eur a night for a double room) booking early.

but I would say it was more a three star hotel than a four star hotel.

I had to enter in the kitchen to call the lady from the bar.

There is no fridge or other sort of conveniences and the furniture is dated and very uncomfortable!

Parking easy, rooms spotless and staff very pleasant indeed.

Although the hotel is very dated and the rooms tatty, the room was as clean as an old room could be.

We found it to be the case with housekeeping (room was clean), and also the breakfast ladies.

The hotel and the room were clean and in good shape.

After telling my son not to play with a ball (okay that’s fine) - I noticed the rules placard did not mention it - only to be told in a highly toxic and unpleasant manner about this that and the other!

Downside was a smell of paint fumes, that was a little off-putting when you first entered.

although Mrs E did not much like the Ash Tray on the Balcony area full of cigarette ends with the accompanying cigarette package, especially as this was a non smoking room.

There was a smell of damp in the bedroom (3rd floor room 329) and on the second night we came back late to find a huge cockroach in the bathroom.

although you could not control the temperature just the fan for the a/c.

Temperatures were still 30-35ºC so it is surprising to see that the pool is not open for longer.

The bad: If you want walk to downtown, the hotel is 4 blocks away from the Roman bridge which is a bit challenging with the high (100'sF/40sC) temperatures.

We couldn't figure out how to change the room temperature and it was too warm.

Breakfast:
Breakfast was a minimal continental-type breakfast.

Very basic breakfast - no eggs or sausages and no coffee/tea facilities in the room.

The rooms are tiny, you cannot buy a cup of coffee - full breakfast or nothing.

Breakfast was expensive so we ate out at nearby cafe bars for half the price.

As usual we did not eat breakfast at the hotel because it was too expensive and for 2€ we had breakfast in the bar just behind the hotel.

Only downside is the advertised restaurant serves breakfast only.

Breakfast was basic and overpriced, should we have known in advance that there are plenty of places within walking distance to have breakfast, we would have gone somewhere else.

One criticism is that there is a nice restaurant which is only open for breakfast and no bar.

I was given Room 101 and one to avoid as practically over a very busy petrol station. Air Conditioning was not working ( I was offered a free breakfast - 2.50 euros ! )

The buffet breakfast is sub standard and there is no easy neighbor alternative.

The breakfast was 5 euros for a small orange juice, a toasted roll and jam with a small coffee.

We stayed at this hotel in May 2017 as it stated on booking.com that it was pet friendly.We had a very nice stay with our little Jack Russel (the desk clerk even made a fuss of our dog).

The room we were given was on the last floor and the last of the aisle, I suppose my dogs give the impression to be trouble and noisy

but my friends have not, easy to find.free swimming pool,  just what you need after travelling all day in extreme heat.good aircon and spotless rooms.

but the rooms were clean and comfortable with easy, free, parking to the front.

We were happy to find a clean room and bathroom in a pleasant hotel.

The rooms were clean, modern and well appointed.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable and this was perfect given that all we needed was somewhere to sleep and have breakfast in between running around the sites of Mérida.

We get are key cards go to our rooms and it was perfect for us.. We were four so we had two separate rooms, tho there is an option for a one bed room for all four if need be (you just need to speak to them through the phone since it won't allow it on booking).

Our hotel room was a good-sized, spotlessly clean room with a very comfortable bed and sparkling bathroom.

Room is clean, easy parking outside the hotel (street), restaurants and monuments close by.

Room clean, quiet, comfortable; ensuite quite large, clean, everything worked well.

Then when we showered we had to use those towels to make a dam where the shower stopped and only ran the minimum of water

In the morning there wasn’t much hot water, so shower in the afternoon or evening.

The water pressure was terrible and plus the water outlet was blocked and you stood in your own dirty water all the time.

During this bizarre, I called to the hostal and ask for help, unfortunately he said it’s not possible to come down to open the door for us.

Merida is a very congested little town with many narrow one-way streets and very little parking, so the hostel was a little tricky to find.

Well situated, pleasant helpful staff, clean room and easy walking access to the important historical sites.

We stayed 1 night in Mérida, very good location and the room is clean, simple and quiet during the night.

Good clean rooms and a myriad of restaurants and cafes within 5 mins walk.

Hostal Emeritae is a great Hostal, the rooms are clean and quiet, the air conditioning works well, and the staff is very professional and helpful.

The bathroom was quite small, especially the shower.

Walls quite thin, could here people in the next room quite clearly

It was difficult to wash without hitting the walls.

The man at reception gave us a good demo of how to use the key card--the only minor problem was carrying our luggage up the steep stairs, as there are no lifts.

The key card issue mentioned below was explained fully to me on arrival, in a way that even someone with no Spanish could probably grasp.

Upshot:  the card was cancelled by MasterCard and of no use to us for the rest of our trip.

Staff were friendly and the room was spotlessly clean.

In addition, it has been recently renovated, so the rooms are very clean. We asked at the reception for the usual things (shortest path to main attractions, suggested restaurants etc.)

The rooms are clean, bright and airy with modern bathrooms, the beds are comfortable, it is an easy walk form the bus station, close to the town centre and had excellent wifi.

although was busy when we arrived, and the usual plethora of idiot SUV drivers that cannot park striaght and so blocked two spaces.

We used the restaurant service on our arrival, and also in the evening, then we got our second  bad experience, there were arrived 3 coaches with Chinese tourists, in total 101 of them.

On arrival I could hear heavy drilling and building noise, the whole second floor of the left side as you look at the hotel is being refurbished/gutted.

Arrived after boiling hot day to no pool.

After a nightmare day, we arrived at the hotel at 11.15pm, tired and hungry.

It looked almost cheaply spectacular from the outside and we were checked in by an elderly gentleman who looked tired and not very interested and with practically no English.

So I could not check my email or did my on-line check in.

Very busy at lunch time when we checked in,

The building has been extensively refurbished.

So for this time a sad experience into the hotel, lucky for us that the staff is so friendly-
Very important, this is the second time we are going there, so do not follow the “Gps” on the “Avenida Reina Sofia 78, 06800 Merida, Spain” - he wil send you into the other direction, comming from “Badajoz” just follow him until you arrive in “Merida”, look out for the sign of the hotel, and drive always straight in front, passing so several roundabouts, and this will lead you into the industrial area of Merida, just follw ahead and you will see the hotel on your right hand side when the road is going uphill.

Las Lomas is an old hotel with a facelift.

The rooms were very pleasant - a little old fashioned for my personal taste,

but unfortunately the previous reviewers were pretty accurate as to the dated furnishings and rooms.

Good place outside with pool, and the room very clean. .

However we found our room clean and comfortable, overlooking the gardens ..as we had requested.

There were many things broken in the room also smell of something old.

There was an unpleasant smell of sewage around the hotel.

1) mold on the ceiling 
2) smelled like a cigarette 
3) air conditioning not working 
4) had no choice

however the carpet was filthy and later 2 coach loads of visitors attended a function in the dining room (which was closed for the evening) below the first floor rooms.

It was infested with wasps and stunk of sewerage!

The bathroom was adequate and yes the shower needs to run to warm up.

The bathroom had a chipped polystyrene ceiling and we had no hot water  (apparently you have to wait for about 10 minutes to come through).

They also need to think about details: gel dispensers instead of bad quality sachets; replacing frayed threadbare towells; descaling the showerheads so the water has proper force; repairing damaged enamel in the bath. ..

The rooms are small and the shower head would not allow water to be sprayed on the body.

But the bath had a flexible shower head which was passed its use by date and didn't work properly.

The shower was blocked with only a few holes functioning

The room was clean and the bathroom was very large.

The room was clean and you can open the windows which is a bonus not having to rely on air on.

Hotel staff very nice, room very clean, much silence at night, everything perfect :-)

I left my laptop cable behind and on calling the staff called back to say that they had found it and immediately volunteered to send it on to me.

The television has no English channels and reception probably doesn't speak English.
