A special shout out to dining staff Chiara, Frederika, Monica and Nino - they let me practice my terrible Italian and were so gracious and friendly. They kept us coming back to the restaurant again and again (as did the risotto and duck!)

The room is very small and dominated by an enormous bed which is actually two singles pushed together so an extremely uncomfortable ridge along the centre.

One small negative was that the room we had was a little small for a group of four.

The only glitch was our first night when our room was very small and literally we're tripping over the luggage to walk.

On the last day we discovered there was a library; a small room with terrace just to the left of the main hotel.

The location and view, the restaurant (location, food and staff), the comfort and beauty of the hotel and the professional and friendly staff made for a relaxing and most enjoyable visit to Bellagio.

It was very clean, the staff were very friendly and very helpful.

From check in to check out everything was perfect, the staff was super friendly, they watched our luggage for us and even let us check out a little later so we could enjoy their wonderful new spa.

The negatives was the quality of furnishing in the room for what is charged was very poor.

The desk staff all spoke English and even offered some informal tutoring for my poor Italian - when asked for.

but that's probably due to the poor ventilation, but overall very clean.

There were some downsides, our shower was a joke and the breakfasts were poor--better to save money and walk a few yards for a super breakfast nearby.

Breakfast is somewhat poor, it was included in our deal.

So it was heavily booked out and we ended up with a room that was very poor accommodation.

Although the hotel was in a great location at the waterfront, the condition of the room given to me (despite the nice Lake view) was poor.

Bad or poor choice of food during breakfast - again very basic and poor standard.

We stayed in a large room without a view (a little bit dated) in preference to 2 other waterfront hotels offering rooms (with views) that were in poor condition.

WiFi reception in our room was very poor and didn't work often.

The staff and service were average - not great not poor

but maid service is poor and the AC does not work like in most of Italy.

Take no notice of any poor  reviews you have already read.

The cons are slightly tired furnishings and a poor shower option (hand held only).

Only downside was very loud from Reception area at night and a slow elevator.

It was extremely slow and at times it was quicker to take the stairs.

My only one small complaint is that the internet was too slow.

We didn't have a balcony, which would have been nice, and the small lift is very slow.

Be warned – the lift is slow and small and only remembers one floor destination at a time.

The free to guests computer came was 20th,not 21st century and was so slow as to be useless-luckily the helpful owner/manager and reception staff used theirs to check in for our flight home.

but is very slow or doesn't work sometimes.

although there is free wifi in the room it was extremely slow and it kept disconnecting from wifi.

but on our level there were several small flights of stairs to negotiate from the elevator (which is tiny and slow) and our room.

As the whole town works on a very slow one way traffic loop, there's no problems with car noise along the front like you find in some of the lake towns.

Service at hotel and its linked restaurant is very friendly (if sometimes a little slow).

The service at the restaurant outside was quite slow

but slow and often rude service at the front desk.

We needed to show our hotel booking details to get a ticket  for access, and after a slow drive down the narrow, crowded main street, were fortunate in being able to find a parking space in front of the hotel which was ours until the morning for 3 Euros; otherwise its pull over, dump you bags and passengers in reception and park the car wherever you can.

Our room had a very small balcony with a 'peekaboo' view of the lake.

Beware that some of the rooms are very small (not unusual for Europe) and we changed our room part way through our stay to get a larger room.

The room was small, basic, clean and had a bit of charm.

We stayed in room 45 which was luxury after 3 weeks of tiny room travels.

Daniele and his team were very prompt in attending to any of our requests, always with a smile.

From the moment you are greeted by the valet, the front desk staff, housekeeping, and restaurant staff, they were all very friendly, helpful, and professional.

As a result  of this poor service  we cancelled  our next booking at their Michelin  resteraunt the reception  staff didn't even ask us why !

Helpful tip: If you decide to send a van instead of a sedan and charge the customer for your poor choice… tell them.

however there is no excuse for poor food and bad service.

The live music in the bar at night was poor, it was a man singing to a backing track on a keyboard.

It has a poor view out to the backyard pool, it’s quite small and feels outdated and old.

It was the  bright spots that saved the rating to average as opposed to poor or worse.

One other quibble - wi fi service was  extremely poor.

Very poor, definitely wont go back unless it is renovated properly.

but the air conditioning in the gym was poor and constantly breaking down.

Breakfast also was poor, whilst it offered a large choice the quality of ingredients used was poor.

The first impression (when we finally found it - poor signage) was really positive.

but for a new spa to have no sauna or steam room is poor!

For such a 5-star high quality and expensive hotel, the air conditioning in the room was poor.

We spent a lot of money at this hotel and feel we had a poor service in return.

We left disappointed at the poor value for money we received.

but run away from the terrazza restaurant, rip off, over priced, probably shaped and sold for americans and japanese (sorry for them), but for this kind of price, overcooked fish, rigatoni from the box sold as maceroni, overcooked fish, salty sauce (I know it helps save poor taste), only service and view saves the lot. .

The gym was very poor, tiny (would be crowded with 3 guests), poorly serviced and I got several nasty insect bites whilst in there.

After first night changed room on third floor to another at this level as ac was poor and preferred a separate shower cubicle as the over the bath arrangement was a strange set up.

The service was not what we expected at this price point, and was the worst we experienced of the four hotels we visited in Italy.

On a final weird note: we had booked our reservation through Amex fine hotels program—one of the perks was a $100 experience credit—we were pretty surprised to see that they had reduced the credit to 80 euro, because they decided to charge a 1.25 exchange rate (nearly a 15% premium) on a comp, so the hotel can make an extra profit.

But at the usual prices, it is embarrassingly overpriced.

Seemingly to up sell you to a €40 more expensive one.

(2) Pretty expensive for what you are getting.

We also thought the boat shuttles were extremely expensive and opted for the ferry a hundred yards down the road.

The food/drinks were very expensive €15 euros for a coffee so brace yourself.

Taxis are excessively expensive and the ferry schedule is inconvenient.

but very limited drinks menu choices on a falling apart menu, we were sat in the corner out the way on tired looking furniture and almost felt forgotten and worried about our decision to dine here knowing the prices.

A lot of reviews will say it is expensive, yes, yes it is

Will say though, that it was super expensive, we ended up paying over $2600 for 1 night with 2 rooms, which is a bit crazy

The spa was average, costly treatments that were not up to standard, let alone having to pay excessively for!

The food and beverages were eye wateringly expensive.

Given the rates, I will expect a bit more above and beyond regular 5-star hotel.

Only criticisms, rooms a bit small, and the baggage delivery to rooms woefully slow.

Some of the rooms are quite small which is the only negative comment.

We also thought the rooms were tiny and the service definitely not consistent amongst its staff.

The room was small even for Europe so be aware of that and the bathroom was small and was at times hard to operate (hot water for instance was hard to regulate).

Lake Como is stunning, make sure you book in for an hour boat ride around the lake and if you can, pay a bit extra for a corner room or suite as the rooms are on the small side :-) (we stayed in a Lake view room)  Overall we loved it here and could have stayed a little longer!

The check in was professional and efficient which is what you would expect and still grumpy and not happy to be here we are shown to the room which is a little on the small side.

This was not an option on their web site, when selecting a room, so I had no idea that the rooms were different. But that room would have required we pack and move the next day, and those rooms have very small counter space on the sink to put your "stuff."

The room has a very small balcony upon which you can sit and look at the beauty of Lake Como.

So whilst opulent and luxurious, the rooms are small,

Once we got to the room, we found a tiny room with a tiny window on to the lake.

However, the room was small (for a room costing approx $1000/night) and there was no free standing shower.

Our room was a little small with a scary balcony overlooking the lake.

The rooms are small based upon American standards,

The room was quite small (at least in comparison to the prior properties we were at in Rome and Montalcino).

But on the other side of the coin, the rooms are tiny, the service was a bit hit or miss, and why is there no coffee/tea service in the room?

Of note, the GHT bar staff: Roberto, Alessio, Veronica, Chiara and truly all who provided service.

Every restaurant was amazing The spa was beautiful and the staff was flawless.

Some of the people at the concierge desk were excellent, while others were not helpful.

The concierge will give you the timetable for ferries across the lake.

From the front staff, doormen, and concierges our family was treated with utmost respect and attention to make our stay so comfortable.

The dinner and gelato spots surrounding the hotel were welcoming and tasty.

The staff are the high point - knowledgable, polite, smartly-dressed -

but professional staff who go out of their way to make guests feel welcomed and cared for.

but would of preferred our own balcony, as on the third night there was toilet paper all over the patio on the balcony, and it was right next to the outdoor seating area of the restaurant.

The bathroom was definitely in need of an update,

even though the shower was almost hanging off the wall !

although basic are classic Italian style as is the rest of the hotel ,with its gold mirrors,marble and chandeliers.

Extractor fan was “fixed” by handyman by stuffing paper tissue in it.

but when I eventually managed to find my wife and show her it, when she opened the bathroom door (I didn’t when I viewed it) there was an appalling stink of bad drains so again we were back to the receptionist who now miraculously found us another room to try.

Rooms are clean,bathroom very small,shower difficult to get into,I am average size 14.

The shower cubicle in the en-suite bathroom is a bit small,

The room itself was cramped and whoever heard of a hotel room with no kettle or a few complimentary tea bags/coffee sachets or even a shaver socket?

We upgraded for 70 euros to a room for a lake view which was actually french doors leading to a shared patio area with a lake view. The patio and pool furniture and cushions were a bit tired (as was some of hotel's decor) and it was 2 days before toilet paper (clean I think!)

* Some staff were quite abrupt/disinterested (stark contrast to its sister hotel, the Bazzoni
* Room - door handle fell off in hand, leak under bathroom sink, dust under beds, no hand towels, extra bed was back breaking had to use duvets to pad the springs!

The corridors to the rooms were a bit smelly and the bathroom definitely needed some updating.

There was significant rubbish -an old cardboard toilet tube and a used tampon behind the toilet. Yuck!
