A warm welcome at the reception, very well furnished guest rooms, comfortable mattress, brand new furniture, fine quality toiletries, a well laid out breakfast with lots of options to choose from.

Cocktails on the rooftop terrace as the sun set was memorable whilst breakfast overlooking the Lake was always a pleasure.

Lovely rooms, Fantastic breakfast daily, and uch a friendly and helpful staff.

It had all the usual items for breakfast, and really does have everything to choose from.

The breakfast was decent with a good spread of bread, eggs, yogurt and fruits.

The breakfast croissants were excellent, warm, fresh and not greasy,  fruit cake was good, also provided hot milk for cereals.

View from the breakfast room was also stunning.

Get up in the morning, have their delicious breakfast and then be on your way to tour by hopping on a ferry.

The breakfasts were excellent buffet style and we could sit on the first floor terrace watching as people went about their day.

There was a complementary breakfast buffet each morning with ala carte items available.

The upstairs dining room is so charming, and the salmon was delicious!

The breakfast selection is great and the spa on site is very nice too!

I agree with the other reviews that the drinks on the rooftop  terrace and breakfast overlooking the lake are highlights.

Breakfast was a decent continental offering  and was good that it was included in the room rate.

The negatives was the quality of furnishing in the room for what is charged was very poor.

The desk staff all spoke English and even offered some informal tutoring for my poor Italian - when asked for.

but that's probably due to the poor ventilation, but overall very clean.

There were some downsides, our shower was a joke and the breakfasts were poor--better to save money and walk a few yards for a super breakfast nearby.

Although the hotel was in a great location at the waterfront, the condition of the room given to me (despite the nice Lake view) was poor.

Bad or poor choice of food during breakfast - again very basic and poor standard.

We stayed in a large room without a view (a little bit dated) in preference to 2 other waterfront hotels offering rooms (with views) that were in poor condition.

WiFi reception in our room was very poor and didn't work often.

The staff and service were average - not great not poor

but maid service is poor and the AC does not work like in most of Italy.

Take no notice of any poor  reviews you have already read.

The cons are slightly tired furnishings and a poor shower option (hand held only).

Only downside was very loud from Reception area at night and a slow elevator.

It was extremely slow and at times it was quicker to take the stairs.

My only one small complaint is that the internet was too slow.

We didn't have a balcony, which would have been nice, and the small lift is very slow.

Be warned – the lift is slow and small and only remembers one floor destination at a time.

The free to guests computer came was 20th,not 21st century and was so slow as to be useless-luckily the helpful owner/manager and reception staff used theirs to check in for our flight home.

although there is free wifi in the room it was extremely slow and it kept disconnecting from wifi.

but on our level there were several small flights of stairs to negotiate from the elevator (which is tiny and slow) and our room.

As the whole town works on a very slow one way traffic loop, there's no problems with car noise along the front like you find in some of the lake towns.

Service at hotel and its linked restaurant is very friendly (if sometimes a little slow).

but slow and often rude service at the front desk.

We needed to show our hotel booking details to get a ticket  for access, and after a slow drive down the narrow, crowded main street, were fortunate in being able to find a parking space in front of the hotel which was ours until the morning for 3 Euros; otherwise its pull over, dump you bags and passengers in reception and park the car wherever you can.

Our room had a very small balcony with a 'peekaboo' view of the lake.

Beware that some of the rooms are very small (not unusual for Europe) and we changed our room part way through our stay to get a larger room.

The room was small, basic, clean and had a bit of charm.

We stayed in room 45 which was luxury after 3 weeks of tiny room travels.

They went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I got to Milan the day we were leaving, even packing us breakfast to go for our trip.

I pampered myself in the incredible state-of-the-art spa facility, enjoyed the culinary expertise of the chef at breakfast & dinner each day & was blown away by the warmth of every single staff member.

Eat dinner there, and breakfast for two mornings.

Breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day, as were lunches by the pool.

We have to give a mention to Clara at breakfast, she is excellent at her job, despite being new to the world of hospitality!

So the staff composed four takeout boxes for the two of us with a wonderful selection of breakfast foods.

This is a five star hotel - truly exceptional service, breakfast buffet (high-class Italian style with meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, made-to-order breakfasts that are not like the usual high fat in the US), location & room (view of lake from public area of hotel & many rooms).

The food was excellent at the two breakfasts and the single lunch and dinner we ate there.

Out of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy on our honeymoon, this one had the best breakfast by far!

The breakfast was phenomenal with sprawling views of the gorgeous property and lake from the restaurant.

The room is very small and dominated by an enormous bed which is actually two singles pushed together so an extremely uncomfortable ridge along the centre.

Our room was a small corner suite, spoiled only by having the shower over a very narrow spa bath.

Room 106 is very small for the price I’m paying.

One small negative was that the room we had was a little small for a group of four.

The only glitch was our first night when our room was very small and literally we're tripping over the luggage to walk.

On the last day we discovered there was a library; a small room with terrace just to the left of the main hotel.

The room is very small and the bathroom is small even for my wife who has a petite figure.

What is good for breakfast is the scenery of the lake.

The breakfast had eggs on request and several in our group got them.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, the breakfast and coffee is excellent, the staff is very nice, and their restaurant is decent, the cocktails are excellent (a special shout out to the Bartender Leonardo from Colombia).

Breakfast on the terrace right on the waters edge was a lovely way to start each day.

On a more positive note breakfast at the Metropole was good, the cleaning of a high standard and we found the service on the terrace to be good with helpful waiters.

Husband was served a beautiful pizza,  it my avacado and shrimp was inedible.

Breakfast buffet was fine, nothing extraordinary.

.our waiter emerged with a house-hidden version, in which he happily joined us for a toast.

We enjoyed breakfast in a room with a lovely view of the lake.

As other reviewers have said, this hotel is in the perfect location, steps away from the boats, the lake, breakfast with views on the lake with lots of options, lovely terrace lakeside to have your dinner and or drink at.

Rupa made sure I had gluten free, lactose free breakfast too!

but OK in the lobby, breakfast room & in the right spot outside on the balcony.

But that was it Absolutely awful ongoing noise from the clanking ferry.

The only other issue was since our room overlooked the walking area where there are shops, it could be a little noisy.

Only downside was the noise from the ferry,

although we didn't need this & never had put them on the floor for renewal.There is a music bar to the right of hotel which doesn't finish until midnight which may impact on some guests although sound proofing is pretty good.

Wasn’t overly crowded while there so noise from waterfront didn’t come up to room.

We couldn't really enjoy the view not only because of the noise

The only down side was the relentless noise from late night music events nearby.On the Saturday night this went on till 4am.

Due to the position of the ferry boat stations it can at times be a bit noisy,

We were allowed to park in the limited traffic zone because we were staying there.

The noise was not her fault and there would be no refund.

This does mean it can be a bit noisy if you have the windows open in a lake view hotel room, as the ferries come & go all the time.

But then the rest of Bellagio does not awake before 1100 so not many other options

There may be some outside noise in the evening if you are sensitive to that,

Although it did not affect me, the noise from the ground floor tends to carry on to the first floor room and may be an issue for some.

but if you had the doors open was noisy as next to car ferry.

It's on the lake between the ferries, so, sure, there was boat noise

The room was tiny, the bathroom tiny and I couldn’t fit in the shower.

even though our room was small it had a large terrace.

but the room was very small which was a disappointment as paying extra one would expect a lager room.

I would say that breakfast was what 
you could expect from a three star hotel, the shower in our room quite small, and ferry passing by our terrace often :) which some might not like.

It is only slightly let down by the rather small rooms,

Easy walking to great food and the breakfast feast in the morning is top notch.

not worth the cost  it is 100 $ hotel not 400 one.

The breakfast was distinctly average, only made palatable by the stunning views and some staff members.

They serve breakfast and dinner at the top floor and views all around are absolutely breathtaking.

Evening meal, a salad buffet, yes , that was good , the main course, well you wouldn't want to be  hungry as  very , very, very small portions!

Took a long time for the buffet food to be replenished, both breakfast and evening-had to ask for this to be done.

Guests in garden view rooms complaining that they were dark and cold.

They were never asked to quieten down in respect to other guests.

but is messy with all guest rushing around trying to secure something of poor choice buffet.

We had to politely remind him we were paying guests at the hotel and had as much right to be at reception asking questions as the wedding guests did.

A techno DJ catering for mostly retired guests, then the only other was a pianist!

One guest was told it wasn't a shower just a hair washing attachment.

Many guests had no first course as the food was not suitable for their taste.

I would have liked to give the accommodation four and a half points and unfortunately the half point was lost by the food which we felt was sadly below the standard of the rest of the Hotel, and because of the reliance on two slow small lifts to get guests between the rooms and the bar and restaurant.

However the terrace fills up quickly and indeed on the second night we were there they hosted a function leaving the guests out in the cold.

Again, only 'some' of the restaurant staff were just not very happy, not sure if it's coming to end of season and they're tired or maybe the management are not nice, whatever it is though, it brings the rating of the hotel down and also its guests.

although I personally found the bed's mattress a bit too hard, other guests might not feel the same way.

Not good for guests who have health issues and so selfish too.

but not many sun umbrellas for the number of guests staying.

It was very poor that they pushed their travelling guests to one side hoping that a bottle of wine on each table would compensate them for the disturbance and disruption.

Clientele in the hotel is predominantly British and over 70’s.

So I would recommend the hotel with that reservation as they do have large gatherings especially on Saturday which stretch the staff and facilities which is wrong when the normal guests have paid a good price which should provide better service I think the owners need to consider this if they wish to retain repeat customers.

Trying too hard to be something they are not and the guests don't want them to be.

but became a bit slow as more guests arrived.

We heard tales of other guests experiencing card failures more often though.

The breakfast buffet has poor quality and little choice.

but was let down by the poor service and underwhelming food.

From the tired and small rooms to the surly, and borderline rude, staff this hotel was very poor.

The food was of poor quality and the staff were clearly lacking training.

Generally the service was poor and unhelpful.

You have 5 waiters running around the tables, having constant conferences hosted by this manager in the middle of the restaurant and only 2 poor waiters serving the actual breakfast.

I cannot understand how anyone can say the food is poor.

But experience marred by very poor service.

but felt that the choice of hot meals was poor.

BUT the standard of evening meals is poor.

The big downfall was in the restaurant, particularly the poor quality of the food at dinner, especially the mains, and the slow service both at breakfast and dinner.

We were dispatched to our bedrooms without undue delay, elevators, or lifts to us poor souls, led us to our floor and we were delighted to find that our room overlooked the hotel front, the lake edge was a roadway away, and, from our  balcony we had a splendid view of the lake and all traffic, both on the roadway beneath us, and on the lake itself.

It is a real shame when a potentially great hotel is managed in such a poor way.

but evening meal especially starters and main course poor quality and amount.
