Centrally located, charming with a spacious room, excellent breakfast and a most accommodating staff.

The excellent breakfast began a day of stepping out into the ideal locale in Lyon.

The breakfast room was charming and the food was simple and delicious.

Great location, traditional French hotel rather than sleek and modern, clean room with good air conditioning, daily housekeeping, wonderful breakfast, staff were welcoming and helpful, answered all our questions.

The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits, croissants , breads granola and yogurt.

We ate breakfast at the hotel several mornings and enjoyed the cheerful room and buffet with yogurt, cheese & sausages, pastries, cold hard boiled eggs, small selection of cereals, option to cook your own soft boiled egg, juice, coffee and tea.

They will not tell you that there is a breakfast shop two doors up the street.

We had breakfast at the hotel for three of our four mornings, and visitors who skip this are really missing out.

Breakfast each day was included, and all guests got fresh coffee.

We arrived early in the day and were immediately offered coffee and breakfast by Marjorie who was manning reception at that point in time.

Its narrow entrance is wedged between two retail shops; nothing presents itself to the newcomer except for an empty hallway, a forbidding set of stairs and a tiny elevator that will hold three people who know each other very well.

the lift goes to the 5th floor and "Bouillette" is then reached up a flight of stairs on the 6th floor.

Like many French hotels, the elevator is extremely small, holding possibly two people in their luggage.

Yes, some of the rooms are fairly small and the lift is not the largest.

but there is an elevator to help carry bags.

The single elevator is quite small and when it malfunctioned during our stay, we Seniors had to walk long flights of old stone steps to/from our room.

This is a very typical European hotel, (reception on the second floor, very small elevator, toilet separate from the sink/shower).

but the nice thing was there was a lift, so after a day of walking and climbing you don’t have to climb stairs on your way back to your room which can sometimes be rare in France.

I suspect we are not the first to somehow have missed the neon sign pointing to the elevator,

Due to space limitations, the  elevator is typically very cramped, sufficient for two people and their suitcases.

The elevator is very small and with the railing on the bottom floor, hard to manage to get luggage in.

Situated near Place Bellecour and steps from Theatre Celestins, it is just perfect.

The location can't be beat as your just a short stroll from Rue Merciere, the Theater and the old city.

It's easy to explore on foot from the hotel, or you can walk a few steps past the theater to the bank of the Saône to catch the CityBus tour bus or a sightseeing boat.

So, if you have a car, you should let the hotel know in advance and they will give you a parking pass for the garage very nearby, which is actually underneath the Theatre des Célestins.

We stayed in one of the junior suites and loved the extra room to spread out plus the view of the theater out the window.

Beautiful view of the theater and the room was decorated so charming.

We were in the front of the building with a view of the Célestins Theatre and the Basilica on the hill from our windows, yet it was very quiet.

This hotel is the perfect location in Lyon, near the theatre in the beautiful centre of Lyon, not far from the train and taxi stations.

The hotel is located by the theater and within walking distance to many shops.

While we looked out on the builidng across the room, we could also see up towards the old town, Fourviere Basiclica and in the foreground, the lit up Theatre des Celestin.

If we looked out our window we could see the beautiful Celestin Theater.

The Theatre des Celestins is one of my favourite buildings in Lyon so it was great to stay so close to it!

We could see the theatre and the church on the hill in Vieux from our window.

Great for a city trip, centrally located in front of the beautiful Celestin theater, just a few steps away from the bridge over the river to the old town.

Hotel reception is on 1st floor access by very small elevator from ground floor.

The only negative was access to the reception area and all rooms is via a small lobby and very small lift so large luggage items (like my bike bag) took a bit of wrangling,

The entryway to the hotel is a little off-putting initially: bare, gray hallway to a tiny elevator.

I paid for the two nights in advance and settled into our small room right on the street two floors up.

The room was so small, more like a cupboard, the outside view was just a blank wall.

My friends who were in the really tiny rooms faced an alleyway.

You need to be a gymnast to access the room with luggage (the premises of the hotel start only on the 1st floor) and our room was so tiny that it remained only 1 foot between the 2 sides of the bed and the walls.

The Marjorie did a fantastic job of checking us in and giving an explanation of the sights to see.

The elements that made our stay so enjoyable included the personal attention of the staff and owners.

Laurent, the owner, made 2 excellent dinner reservations for us nearby.

The staff is courteous and flexible in meeting needs of all sorts.

The staff was absolutely wonderful, so kind and courteous and very personable, gave us great tips on what to do in their beautiful city.

I love this charming hotel in Luon, from its happy and helpful owner and staff, to its clean and comfortable rooms.

It was filled with an ambiance of relaxation and personalized caring by a well-informed staff.

So busy and such a tiny room that they put you in another meeting room, not very nice or romantic.

For American standards,  room is small,  and way too expensive for what you get,  being 4 stars.

Arrived at the hotel around 9am, thinking to just drop the luggage since it is too for the check-in, to my surprise, the F/O staff checked me in, I even got an upgrade.

That staff was very energetic and always trying to please….

The hotel reception area is so welcoming and the staff there, in the breakfasting room and in the bar area were amazing and so helpful.

Pleasant and helpful staff who will book restaurants, room, a classic double, was very quiet.

Can't relate to the previous comments about disorganized staff as we found them to be super solicitous.

A young gentleman parked the car for us (and he surprisingly brought it in the morning in front of the hotel before I thought of asking him to do it) and we were treated very kindly and professionally throughout the very short (unfortunately 😉) sejour.

Sometimes their contacts will be on the greeting cards in my room.

Very much appreciated the bottles of evian every day and housekeeping was good..also appreciated the valet parking whch was a great price at 29 euro per night (traffic and parking in lyon is a nightmare/expensive).

Parking was valet style and very efficient, all in all a very enjoyable stop.

From the valet parking, the bellboy baggage delivery to our room, the welcome drinks and the breakfast everything was at the same high standard.

You will love the valet parking service when you arrive after a long journey.

Greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome and valet parking at this hotel, situated in a great location for both the newer city centre, the river and the old town with it's wonderful Basilica, shops bars and restaurants.We found our room extremely comfortable and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this lovely city.

Perfect compromis… they offer valet parking and afterwards using Uber is also easy.

but once we pulled up outside valet parking came straight out to help unload and move the car after a long drive.

But when you really start to live in the room, so many things made the stay below par, most notably the bathroom.

The bath (in the room) was a real luxury.

Some reviews mention rooms with no shower and multi-step access.

But then the toilet was downstairs without a sink.

There was quite a lot of dust in the room, the bath leaked from the waste pipe making the room smell like a drain.

but it was quite difficult not to spray water all around the bathroom
- Standing metal towel/wardrobe hanger could easily fall and it landed on a foot after pulling a towel from it
- Difficult to find location with need to engage a valet
All in all, value for money not very good.

but only after that happens, only if the room has a shower, and only if the price is comparable to a 4-star hotel, as that's what this hotel actually should be called.

though underwhelmed with the room which had no shower which at almost £400 for the night was somewhat surprising.

The bathroom was poorly constructed with the tiny shower and wash basins on one end of the room and then the WC down a hall on the other side of the room.

The sink was stopped up and could not be fixed because our stay was over a weekend.

On the first night, the cold water faucet in the shower in our lovely little suite was broken, so they immediately moved us to another suite, which was much larger and grander.

Unfortunately we will not be back ( also if you look closely very shabby in areas wooden sticks to stir tea/ coffee in rooms and no actual shower cubicle as well as a bath just a shower hose over bath !!

My wife, with a brand new hip, was not keen on the idea of climbing in the bath to shower.
