Breakfast has a reasonable choice in the Galician style of being more humble that you often find in USA or UK.

This is a great hotel any way you look at it— location, price, modern clean room, exceptional breakfast, rooftop dining/bar.

but when attempting to check in was refused because it was my husband's card and not mine but it was fine to use the card to use it for an imaginary card by all means stay at this hotel of you want your holiday ruined also if you get assaulted by gypsys right outside this hotel expect to be asked to leave the next day because being traumatised is very rude and disruptive to other guests

After reading previous reviews had to double check was same hotel.

When we came down to check out at 6am after the second night, the bill was now less than $90 for the first night, as quoted,

but I didn't check), a full bathroom and a separate shower room with toilet.

Upon check-in by a clerk who didn´t speak English, I was given a room on the 5th floor, underneath the hotel´s snack bar/breakfast room.

As in many European hotels, lights come on automatically as one walks down a hallway.

The halls and the elevator areas are very dark, and we noticed an almost total absence of decorations.

We had asked for a quiet room as we are light sleepers ,BUT,because  reception spoke no english.were given a room which allowed us to hear,tv next door,alarm clock at 6am next door,building site nearby,and cathedral clock chimeing every hour.Light sin the corridor ( as another review said ) seem to go on and off at inappropriate times as you are accessing the room.

As I was give a room at the end of the corridor, the wi-fi didn't work well (although the receptionist assured that it would work perfectly).

The hallways were on motion sensor lights, so you exited the elevator into pitch darkness until you walk several steps out of the elevator.

though ours was a bit weak(our room was at the end of the hall #421).

Only nagging feature was the noise from the corridor, as in the walls may be too thin,

But the delay was very long so that when you step off the elevator into the hall.

The dark halls, paper-thin walls, antiquated shaggy carpet, squeaky doors, hot rooms left a lot to be desired.

negative: bleak (corridors, rooms, breakfast room), no next door hotel parking, slow single pc for internet access, poor lobby/bar.

The location is on pedestrianised street so it does require a short walk with luggage, The hotel is much what you would expect from  a 4 star

The hotel is located right in the centre of the old town literally just a few steps from the main square.

Hotel was nicely located in the center of the city, clean.

It is located inside the wall of Lugo, in an incomparable environment, next to the Plaza Mayor and the City Hall, where you can also visit the wall by taking a walk through it.

As it is located on a pedestrian street, by car it takes a little effort to find.

If you are looking for a very basinshotel with good location, this is the place.

The prime location, big spacious rooms with fresh large bathrooms, big beds, good WiFi, large windows and amazing views from the terrace over the whole Lugo.

However the room and bathroom were really clean and spacious, the bed very comfortable and the location excellent.

The location in the city centre is ideal.

You are just steps away from Lugo’s best attractions like the central plaza, and a five-minute walk to the incredible basilica.

In the heart of charming Lugo, steps away from Plaza Mayor and a short stroll to the Cathederal.

While nicely located near the Plaza Mayor, it was difficult to find because of its location on a mostly pedestrian area.

This hotel is brilliantly located right in the center of the pedestrian area, a stone throw from the main attractions, like the Plaza Mayor and its colorful terraces, the cathedral, the roman wall, the museum etc.

but there are a number of big restaurant around the Plaza Mayor.

Right off the main plaza, it has good access to restaurants, cafes, and shops.

I stayed here two nights, right in the heart of the city near the Plaza Mayor.

Walk a few steps to the gate and hotel from the Bus Terminal.

Only a 5-minute walk from the bus terminal!!

The location is certainly perfect: within the walls of Lugo, and so a short walk to anything within the walls.

however get a discount at a local secure car park about 5 minutes walk.

After having walked from O Cavados Baleira (on the Camino Primitivo), I needed a nice hotel in which to stay and erase the (less than stellar) experience there.

but as we walked to it from the bus station, we had some difficulties finding it.

It is a short walk from the train and bus stations.

The hotel has a very good arrangement with a local car park in the Rua  Anxel  Fole for 6Euros per day and that is a walk of about 200m.

Breakfast the next morning started at 7.00 which was a good thing with a full days walk ahead of us.

From Hotel Mendez Nunez you can walk to everything.

We were able to walk all over the walled city from our hotel.

Luckily, we arrived on a quiet Sunday afternoon and, after walking to the hotel to get directions, we were able to navigate the narrow streets to the front door without encountering too many pedestrians!

The hotel is located in the center of a pedestrian zone and conveniently accessible to all the sights in town by walking.

Parking is in a public car park, a five minute walk away - guests at the hotel can park there for 24 hrs at a special rate of €5.95,

If you advertise free wi-fi it should work better than this. After our walk around the city on the old Roman walls (is there another reason to visit Lugo?)

If you plan to discover the cultural and historical background of Lugo by experiencing the gastronomy and enjoying a walk on the city wall as well as appreciating the architecture of Lugo, the hotel is a wonderful place to stay.

It is in a pedestrianised area, which meant that our tour party had to walk, pulling luggage, from the city's coach station; and when we got to the hotel there were indeed quite a few steps up to reception.

These apartments are well located about 200-300 metres from the Roman wall, the old town and the bus station.

The apartment is large, with all the facilities.

We then took the people elevator directly up to our 7th floor #710, a beautiful 2 room apartment with a full kitchen, microwave, oven, refrigerator, fully outfitted bathroom, nice bedroom with wardrobe.

very clean, central, very nice staff, instead of a room we got an apartment which makes you feel more like at home.

Our two bed apartment, King and a single, also had a single set up in a nook in the lounge room and was clean and comfortable.

This is basically an apartment with a receptionist.

Our one bedroom apartment was similar to ones already described here.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the apartment very clean and comfy.

The apartment was fine, with a good sized living room/kitchen, shower room and decent sized bedroom.

The apartment style hotel itself is well placed a short walk from the Cathedral and surrounding Roman walled old town with it’s many restaurants.

Our choice was reasonable as we got everything we expected and needed - spacious and clean rooms, breakfast filling, and friendly and helpful staff.

The attached café provides a reasonable cheap breakfast and will do snacks.

You can have breakfast every morning for a fee.

They have a restaurant which makes breakfast and a quick snack easy to obtain.

Good accommodation with a decent breakfast and ideal if staying for one night or if you wish to self cater.

Breakfast is standard, nothing spectacular, and it's fairly close to the center of the city, can walk to the ancient wall.

The 7:30 AM buffet breakfast was complete and included in our room price and along with a perfect night's sleep adds to making this a value hotel.

The people were really nice too and the cafe downstairs seemed to be doing a very steady trade in delicious smelling plates that guests were collecting to take back to their rooms.

There is a handy cafe where the buffet breakfast is available.

In the morning the breakfast was very good.

We also opted for the 6 euro breakfast and this was much better than I expected and I think well,worth the money.

The location has a underground car park at a small fee.

They also have a parking, with limited places so if you chose to bring your car it would be wise to book in advance (although you won't have much trouble finding a parking spot in the street).

Ideally located, outside the city walls so we could park in the underground car park, and only a block from one of the gates into the old town.

I, being slightly claustrophobic, took the internal lift and met him either in the car park or on the road.

To be honest, we found that many of the underground parking garages in Spain were quite small and this wasn't the first hotel that I had booked specifically for the car park

There was cars of all sizes parked down there and no one else seemed to have any problems using the lift or parking there.

We had a reasonably small car and it was tight!

This was not so easy to locate by car at once because of the one way passage.

We arrived about 9.30PM and were able to get two pizzas.

We have just returned from  7 days at this excellent hotel.The staff were friendly and very helpful with one of our party who needed gluten free food.They even phoned for a late evening delivery of gluten free pizza!Very clean accommodation too ,with frequent fresh linen!A return visit is on our future agenda.Well done to all! !

It is situated within a 3-4min walking distance from the Roman Wall (Muralla de Lugo) with is the old town of the city where most of the bars and restaurants are situated.

We did not expect the comfort we experienced with separate bedrooms and a kitchen if one likes to prepare their food.

Only a couple of hundred metres from the old town and from the bus station too.

It is close to the Roman Wall and the old town.

The hotel is very close to the old town and walls.

It was very easy to find the hotel using the sat nav and only 10 minutes walk from the town.

There is a supermarket nearby, just outside the city walls at the Porta de San Pedro, the closet gate to the hotel and your main access to the old town.

Parking around the hotel streets in my opinion is non-existent unless you are extremely lucky and are in the right place at the right time so we opted to use the underground hotel parking accessed via a car lift (this costs an extra 10 euros).

The buffet breakfast was great, lots of choices and freshly brewed coffee.

Breakfast requires signing up for a time slot as Covid precaution.

The breakfast buffet, while not great, is okay and at €6.50 fairly priced.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and all speak some English.

Both front desk managers Moses and Balbina were helpful and very friendly (both spoke very good English).

The breakfast buffet had the best selection of quality cheese at least ten or more and  many different meats definitely the best breakfast in our three weeks in Spain.

You can wake up in the morning and run on the +2000 year old Roman Wall, then take a shower with views of the cathedral, and the enjoy a breakfast with local cheese and cakes.

Although the breakfast was good, we felt the guidance by the hotel owner was extremely poorly handled.

The atmosphere is great the service excellent and breakfast highly recommended - restaurant (tabierna) also excellent

This hotel is in the heart of the tapas district, so food is plentiful, interesting and very tasty.

I cannot speak more highly of the friendly and helpful staff, the comfort of the beds, the ambience and the decoration of the hotel and rooms and the superb breakfast.

Breakfast was astounding: there were at least 15 different kinds of local cheeses and lots of freshly made cakes, tasty orange juice and all you need for a wonderful muesli (fruit, nuts, cereals and yogurt).

Although the breakfast did not include any hot food, it offered the best selection of cheese and cakes we saw anywhere in our travels—quite outstanding!

Breakfast was great with lots of different cakes and cheeses, so many cheeses.

So, whilst the hotel is rather quaint with interesting collectibles, breakfast okay and reception staff helpful, if you are wanting a good night's sleep or feel rattled by some colourful characters in the neighbourhood, stay elsewhere.

but includes anything you could possibly want, including local delicious fare.

however a buffet breakfast is served and room service is available from a nearby restaurant.

Best of all Maria at reception was the friendliest host of all our hotels and the gardener showed how much he loves plants with his tender care of the many trees and plants decorating the entrants and ally.The owners are very lucky to have these two people on staff.

This hotel is a historic building recently restored.

The furnishings right throughout are fabulously eclectic.

This small hotel is inside a 18th c. building restored and decorated with respect to the house's substance.

There are lots of interesting decor features.

The hotel is in a renovated building and is a great mix of both charm and comfort.

It's a very solid converted palace with lots of quirky details & antiques (& some eccentric modern fixtures).

This hotel is inside the walls of Lugo, the hotel has few rooms and they are very nice,comfortable and stylish.

Staff very nice very helpful, the hotel a bit quirky with old photos, musical instuments etc.

but eccentrically decorated, as was the rest of the establishment.

It contains lot of antiques that gives a nice atmosphere.

It’s also near a night club and after midnight it gets so noises that sleep isn’t possible.

Our room was over the main walkway in front of the building and as it was Saturday night there were one or two noisy revellers,

A refurbished old palace (Pazo), it has continued its refurbishing and it is practically done, so we experienced NONE of the noise or construction sights mentioned by previous reports.

But, the noise level was just unacceptable as it was at the juncture of walk ways out of the old town and we had a corner room.

but I think panicked with all the traffic behind.

The hotel has been renovated and the rooms have beautiful antique furniture in them and the whole hotel is full of wonderful treasures.

This is a very nice hotel in updated old style.

The rooms are of a decent size, clean, and bathrooms look like they have been renovated in the past few years.

The building itself is a stunning old building that has been sympathetically renovated to include modern day requirements.

but the keys are huge and heavy so you'll need a rucksack just to carry them.

It is a family run hotel, so they ask that you let them know if you will be late in or early leaving as the front doors are locked overnight-so maybe not ideal if you are party animals- which we were not!

The hotel is locked from midnight to 8am and you will get a key to open the main doors when you arrive back late from the many fabulous tapas bars that are seconds from the hotel.

Be aware, because of the way sound travels through the streets, you’ll hear the music and noise from the bars and clubs a few blocks away if you have your windows open.
