Breakfast has a reasonable choice in the Galician style of being more humble that you often find in USA or UK.

After reading previous reviews had to double check was same hotel.

When we came down to check out at 6am after the second night, the bill was now less than $90 for the first night, as quoted,

Upon check-in by a clerk who didn´t speak English, I was given a room on the 5th floor, underneath the hotel´s snack bar/breakfast room.

As in many European hotels, lights come on automatically as one walks down a hallway.

The halls and the elevator areas are very dark, and we noticed an almost total absence of decorations.

We had asked for a quiet room as we are light sleepers ,BUT,because  reception spoke no english.were given a room which allowed us to hear,tv next door,alarm clock at 6am next door,building site nearby,and cathedral clock chimeing every hour.Light sin the corridor ( as another review said ) seem to go on and off at inappropriate times as you are accessing the room.

As I was give a room at the end of the corridor, the wi-fi didn't work well (although the receptionist assured that it would work perfectly).

The hallways were on motion sensor lights, so you exited the elevator into pitch darkness until you walk several steps out of the elevator.

though ours was a bit weak(our room was at the end of the hall #421).

Only nagging feature was the noise from the corridor, as in the walls may be too thin,

But the delay was very long so that when you step off the elevator into the hall.

The dark halls, paper-thin walls, antiquated shaggy carpet, squeaky doors, hot rooms left a lot to be desired.

The breakfast buffet had the best selection of quality cheese at least ten or more and  many different meats definitely the best breakfast in our three weeks in Spain.

You can wake up in the morning and run on the +2000 year old Roman Wall, then take a shower with views of the cathedral, and the enjoy a breakfast with local cheese and cakes.

Although the breakfast was good, we felt the guidance by the hotel owner was extremely poorly handled.

The atmosphere is great the service excellent and breakfast highly recommended - restaurant (tabierna) also excellent

This hotel is in the heart of the tapas district, so food is plentiful, interesting and very tasty.

I cannot speak more highly of the friendly and helpful staff, the comfort of the beds, the ambience and the decoration of the hotel and rooms and the superb breakfast.

Breakfast was astounding: there were at least 15 different kinds of local cheeses and lots of freshly made cakes, tasty orange juice and all you need for a wonderful muesli (fruit, nuts, cereals and yogurt).

Although the breakfast did not include any hot food, it offered the best selection of cheese and cakes we saw anywhere in our travels—quite outstanding!

Breakfast was great with lots of different cakes and cheeses, so many cheeses.

So, whilst the hotel is rather quaint with interesting collectibles, breakfast okay and reception staff helpful, if you are wanting a good night's sleep or feel rattled by some colourful characters in the neighbourhood, stay elsewhere.

but includes anything you could possibly want, including local delicious fare.

however a buffet breakfast is served and room service is available from a nearby restaurant.

It’s also near a night club and after midnight it gets so noises that sleep isn’t possible.

Our room was over the main walkway in front of the building and as it was Saturday night there were one or two noisy revellers,

A refurbished old palace (Pazo), it has continued its refurbishing and it is practically done, so we experienced NONE of the noise or construction sights mentioned by previous reports.

But, the noise level was just unacceptable as it was at the juncture of walk ways out of the old town and we had a corner room.

but I think panicked with all the traffic behind.

but the keys are huge and heavy so you'll need a rucksack just to carry them.

It is a family run hotel, so they ask that you let them know if you will be late in or early leaving as the front doors are locked overnight-so maybe not ideal if you are party animals- which we were not!

The hotel is locked from midnight to 8am and you will get a key to open the main doors when you arrive back late from the many fabulous tapas bars that are seconds from the hotel.

Be aware, because of the way sound travels through the streets, you’ll hear the music and noise from the bars and clubs a few blocks away if you have your windows open.

Lovely hotel down a narrow street inside the city walls.

However the location of the hotel leaves much to be desired as it’s in the “Red Light” area with lots of prostitutes and customers hanging around in the nearby streets.

The receptionist told us about the tapas street near by (Rua Nova) and that it was a special fortnight in the city were by we  paid for the wine and we received samples of both hot and cold tapas at very little cost.

On Saturday morning between 7 and 8 am we were woken up by a workman strimming just outside our room, it really was noisy, and this was followed by a machine cleaning the street.

The drive through the pedestrian archway in the wall is a bit daunting, and the streets are narrow,

There were 'ladies of the night' strutting their stuff up and down one of the small streets right next to the hotel and the other small streets showed some evidence of hard drinking and drug taking the next morning when we went to walk on the wall.

The first approach to the Pazo de Orban can be a little unnerving as it is necessary to drive through the city gates against a  "Do Not Enter" sign and negotiate narrow pedestrianized streets.

Pazo de Orban is down a quite side street with a private car park which is important inside Lugo.

Getting to hotel by car is "exciting" as you actually drive through a pedestrian arch and around a couple of narrow streets which is a little disconcerting when you haven't been there before.

The buffet breakfast was great, lots of choices and freshly brewed coffee.

Breakfast requires signing up for a time slot as Covid precaution.

The breakfast buffet, while not great, is okay and at €6.50 fairly priced.

Our choice was reasonable as we got everything we expected and needed - spacious and clean rooms, breakfast filling, and friendly and helpful staff.

The attached café provides a reasonable cheap breakfast and will do snacks.

You can have breakfast every morning for a fee.

Breakfast was fine- continental style obviously!

They have a restaurant which makes breakfast and a quick snack easy to obtain.

Good accommodation with a decent breakfast and ideal if staying for one night or if you wish to self cater.

Breakfast is standard, nothing spectacular, and it's fairly close to the center of the city, can walk to the ancient wall.

The 7:30 AM buffet breakfast was complete and included in our room price and along with a perfect night's sleep adds to making this a value hotel.

The people were really nice too and the cafe downstairs seemed to be doing a very steady trade in delicious smelling plates that guests were collecting to take back to their rooms.

There is a handy cafe where the buffet breakfast is available.

In the morning the breakfast was very good.

We also opted for the 6 euro breakfast and this was much better than I expected and I think well,worth the money.

The location has a underground car park at a small fee.

They also have a parking, with limited places so if you chose to bring your car it would be wise to book in advance (although you won't have much trouble finding a parking spot in the street).

Ideally located, outside the city walls so we could park in the underground car park, and only a block from one of the gates into the old town.

I, being slightly claustrophobic, took the internal lift and met him either in the car park or on the road.

To be honest, we found that many of the underground parking garages in Spain were quite small and this wasn't the first hotel that I had booked specifically for the car park

There was cars of all sizes parked down there and no one else seemed to have any problems using the lift or parking there.

We had a reasonably small car and it was tight!

This was not so easy to locate by car at once because of the one way passage.

Parking around the hotel streets in my opinion is non-existent unless you are extremely lucky and are in the right place at the right time so we opted to use the underground hotel parking accessed via a car lift (this costs an extra 10 euros).

A very nice breakfast, with multiple options, taste of local cuisine.

Breakfast had the usual huge choice that you always get in Eurostars hotels.

Room was of the usual Eurostars standard - ie, good, and breakfast had plenty of choices.

We had a great 1 night stay with breakfast.

The Eurostars Gran Hotel  Lugo met or exceeded all our expectations of a 4-star hotel with exceptionally efficient and professional staff throughout - from Reception to Breakfast.

It was sad because have a great location and excellent breakfast.

The same applied to the scrambled eggs, so again we had to ask for more.

As a virtuoso travel agent with high expectations on travel service, I’m very disappointed with this hotel due they shut down the air conditioning in this season, we have to open the windows to breath and our room very hot since it was located on a street view and was very noisy.

Also, charged for parking fees (which I noticed only after I flew back home) even as we did not park in garage as we couldn't find it and parked on street.

but when returning to our new table they were cold!

The breakfast is very good, hot bacon and eggs or a good selection of tasty cold meats, fruit etc.

The service is good, nice and clean rooms, delicious food.

Breakfast is very nice with a good selection without gluten.

The city and people were friendly the food was delicious and the historical sites were amazing.

We saw everyone else in the dining room get a bill for breakfast too.

Lucky for us the wonderful barman, Moses, looked at us and said you are tired and hungry let me see what I can do and he found us some vegetarian and seafood tapas from the kitchen to have with our drinks and then went to persuade the chef to cook us some fish early to eat in the cafeteria.

We had a few drinks in the bar late one night and it was very busy.

but more atmosphere in the large & busy cafeteria part where locals come for a drink and a meal so you may want to have your meal here. Recommended!

Taking the least expensive 2 rooms over 7 days is a real test.

Again, like others, we thought the room rate was very cheap, and wondered what the rooms would be like.

However, we were a little concerned as the room charge was so reasonable that we thought perhaps it would not be up to the standard we enjoy.

We were a walk-in from the Lonely Planet suggestion.

Lugo is an atmospheric place to wander around without many stand-out sights except the complete Roman walls which demand an obligatory stroll / jog on top of.

The owners are really friendly and the hostal includes a cafetería for drinks, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

We used the ground floor café bar for breakfast each morning , which was pretty standard ,

you can have breakfast at the cafe downstairs part of the family bussines.

This "hostal" is extra clean, rooms are serviced daily and impeccably, the reception is so so friendly and breakfast at the café downstairs is great value for price.

The bar downstairs is also great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or just enjoying a glass of vino with friends.

Breakfast and the food in general were good.

however you can hear people in the rooms and hallway, so bring earplugs and enjoy your stay.

I stayed here for 3 nights and paid 33 euros per night for a single room.

We managed to park on one of the streets near the hostal on arrival & the following day moved the car to a spot just outside the hostal entrance .

For a supposedly 4-star hotel, we would have expected rather more toiletries than the minimal shampoo and bath gel sachets provided.

The bath/shower is somewhat dated and if you are short, or are recuperating from a knee operation you may find access is a not so easy.

Nice simple breakfast  that offered salt and pepper, which is a rarity in most of Spain.

Breakfasts each morning consisted of great cafes and pastries/toast, which were quite inexpensive.

The restaurant is good - excellent food and wine for dinner and a good breakfast spread.

It is located several mile from lugo city center and near busy road, this does not only mean you need a car to visit citu,

However, there was not much noise in the room.

I Had continual issues with the door key reader, and was woken by a tour group slamming doors and vacating my level

but I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls and woke to find the walls so thin that I was kept awake by the man snoring next door and by their conversation and intimate activities before that.

but covered with transparent tarpaulins which threatened to blow away in the gale and made an incredible noise.
