though we were being taken care of by dear friends.

Barbara at the Tower Bar made our entire trip amazing by telling us the history of the hotel and making sure we were always taken care of.

We were incredibly appreciative of Katie (front desk), Barbara (restaurant), and the entire wait staff for making us feel comfortable and well taken care of during a period when logistics and staffing must be especially challenging.

From the moment we checked in we were taken care of by Steven, who delighted us with an upgrade for our one night stay.

I didn’t provide this feedback to the Sunset Tower reception staff because they didn’t care to ask about my stay.

After they shared a few words i assume about my situation, he was so delightful and took care of my cocktail as i waited (try the southside).

Angel bends over backward to make sure we are taken care of, and we always are.

Was taken care of by bartender Larry and host Alex.

The service was perfect, Eddie did a great job taking care of us and later on we came back and had some cocktails with Larry who had us laughing the entire time.

My fiancée and I were celebrating with a few friends and he went out of his way to take care of us plus create a personal connection with us.

I ordered food on my own and Angel was helpful in delivering it and making sure everything I needed was taken care of.

Thank you Brett, Zack, Christos and George for taking care of my guests for a birthday dinner recently.

One of our room was very tiny and clearly not the superior room we had booked and paid for.

My room was so small there was no room for storage, the central air  conditioning  wasn’t working, the menu is limited, overall disappointment

The views are spectacular, rooms are small

The only drawback is that the rooms are quite small and the walls are paper thin.

The room was small and stuffy and about 80 degrees.

The room was small and noisy, I could hear the elevator rambling up-and-down through-out the night; there seemed to be a function on every day which prevented us from using the facilities of the hotel, which is why we came in first place; there always seemed to be a lot of confusion in the lobby with a lot of staff

I love the food, I love a long breakfast on the terrace, excellent drinks menu, the staff are always fantastic; equally friendly and professional, comfortable beds….

Beautiful views from the rooms and the terrace,  Lots of attention to detail.

The lunch in the terrace is a good experience too.

Terrace was the perfect spot for dining or relaxing by the pool.

I’m very familiar with the city and it’s hotels, having stayed at a number of them, and after dining at Tower Bar and The Terrace countless times, I decided this trip to try the hotel.

The Terrace is a fabulous spot for breakfast and lunch or for just being fabulous.

Writing this long after midnight with a party on the pool terrace 10 stories below.

Breakfast in the terrace is really sweet, too.

Terrace dining area and bar is comfortable and inviting.

Lunch on the terrace by the pool on a sunny day is always a treat.

There’s such a buzz to the place which we adored, especially the amazing Terrace Bar, which id hugely recommend for drinks / dinner / dessert.

I must of course also mention he who makes my daily time out on the beautiful, calming and serene terrace and pool area with views to kill - some of my most relaxing, enjoyable time spent:  the one and only Angel.

We were escorted by our lovely host Ava to the terrace where we sat in amazement of how the decor, music and energy of the room worked well together.

The terrace with the pool and overlooking the city is such a cool view, service killer!

The decor throughout the property is beautiful and we especially enjoyed the breakfast terrace.

Breakfast on the Terrace helped ease the pain, mostly because I like pancakes and bacon.

The food is delicious and the bar/ restaurant has a great atmosphere.

though a bit cramped.The bar and the restaurant have a wonderful feeling of history, elegance and charm.

I can go alone sit at the bar, sip on a glass of rose and be happy.

The bar and restaurant is a great scene too and there’s nowhere I would rather stay.

but I will say I was not limited to the bar as I had no reservation.

I've been a regular of the Bar for awhile now, and the old adage "home away from home" could not be more true about this joint.

She walked me to the bar and sat me with a bartender Larry.

Stopped in mid afternoon for a quick drink at the bar and all I have to say is Larry is an awesome bartender.

Sunset Tower was a top to bottom wonderful experience, from Larry at the bar to the wonderful people at the front desk to my beautiful and clean room.

My room wasn’t ready on time so Anna treated me to a drink at the bar.

At night, the bar is a big deal local hotspot. But.

However, Larry at the bar was the treasure buried on this beautiful island.

but you have to single anyone out then it’s Angel - a gem if there ever was one - ably supported by story teller Dylan, the ever polite Eta and the irrepressible Larry (now promoted to the Bar) whose laughter can be probably be heard ringing out in the Ynez Valley.

She was not friendly at all, did not offer us a complimentary drink in the bar, not even a smile.

We had drinks in the bar as nightcaps 3 of the nights we stayed and ate in the hotel on our final night - it was that good and vibey!

Flat child even enjoyed a martini at the bar.

When we made our way back to the lobby, this man gave me his card and said the next time I visit to stop by and find him and he will tell me some more history I don't know.

Last night, they charged me $60 because “I was there more than 5 hours.” 

I pointed out the mistake, and the valet workers said there was nothing they could do and “it’s a computer issue.” All the time, they were looking at each other and laughing, obviously ripping me off.

Tipping and service charges should not fall on the responsibility of the customer.

We had to show our card initially to come in from both entrances,

I had a little trouble getting things to charge in the room and it would have been nice to have a hair dryer in the room as well.

but at checkout the receptionist tried to charge us for 2 nights.

I've since used the website to book a room just to see if the charge is mentioned anywhere during the booking process - it isn't.

The room was nice, a bit dirty I found an old uno card under the rug.

We arrived late to the hotel felt reception was not welcoming and the hotel and the hotel put a $600 on the credit card, we were not told that we would have to pay city tax either until we checked out.

but minus the compensation they had paid therefore not compensating me at all, and there response is just to say we have released all funds.

Very odd that they would allow anyone to charge anything to a room without a signature.

Minor gripes are the expensive valet parking & needless extra charge for using the WiFi & pool.

Upon departing we were never asked how our stay we were just told a invoice would be sent to my e.mail address of our bill.

Disappointed I couldn[t charge my phone and watch on the nightstand.

There weren't too many hiccups in the beginning (besides me being double booked and charged twice,

There were no robes (although there were flip flops which if you used them, you'd be charged for them) and the TV could not maintain a steady signal.

Some billing issues on the way out the door in that they charged me for my room stay twice,

I asked for a reciept or some proof that i wouldn't be charged for vallet since i never used it (i used a parking garage down the street) and he said they dont do that so i am watching my credit card like a hawk to see if they will try to sneek the charges on.

even though my total nights stayed would only be two after this fiasco) those funds do not immediately show up in your account.

As I grabbed the ironing board and look down there is a room key and another card with a bunch of white powder substance.

The Hollywood Roosevelt is a great base location when in Hollywood, or a destination in itself.

We chose the Hollywood Roosevelt because of its location and history and were happy with our choice.

Wow this hotel is totally awesome so much history awesome vibe the best customer service ever the most stunning poolside cabana room 101 with private garden and overlooking a unbelievable pool the hotel and room decor rock amazing shower massive beds

A MUST STAY LOCATION WHEN IN HOLLYWOOD

This is a beautiful property, with an excellent location to everything you would want to see in Hollywood.

Last remarks: In case you want to vibe the old Hollywood and stay at a very cool hotel with a rich history and central location in Hollywood, this is your place.

The hotel is in a fantastic location on Hollywood blvd and is right across from the Chinese theatre.

This immaculately maintained, beautiful hotel is located right on Hollywood Blvd, allowing easy walking access to the Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre, Musso & Frank’s Grill, along with all other attractions along the route.

Really nice old luxury hotel with superb location in Hollywood.

Second, if you are going to Hollywood Blvd this location cannot be beat!

The hotel is well located along the Hollywood Strip.

Many of us are from Madison, WI and the bartender for our happy hour was a Badger!

but they didn't open until 5:30 A.M. Coffee is the one amenity every hotel should have even if we have to pay for it.

I requested different room and I had to pay additional $65 per night in order to get room with out obstruction.

but had a limited selection and it was a bit of a production (and cost $7 for one chamomile teabag).

The price should include everything stop the resort fee nonsense, wifi isn't $35 a night and not everyone uses the pool.

I have never paid more than $28 or $32 for parking based on their clearly marked pricing ($20 for 3 hours and $4 for each additional).

It belongs to the luxury class and is therefore not cheap.

We were treated like an inconvenience not as paying guests.Will never stay here again especially for what it cost us.

My only disapproval was a miserable girl bar tender adding service charges for drinks sitting at the pool bar.

but I would say the breakfast offering and pool bar offerings are overpriced but tasty none the less.

The price point is a bit on the high side for a solo traveler, and you are looking for a cheaper place to park your car, there is a public garage across the street that will save you $20 dollars a day.

For example, if you go to the front desk and ask for a room rate - they will ask you to just check on your phone - instead of checking their system.

That said, what you find in the rooms isn't all free, so take care to check the price list (in your room) before enjoying anything; some items come at a cost that you might not realize - this caught us out.

Terrible service, high prices, average food.

There were items for sale in the room which I don’t get and why would you pay those prices for caps and flip flops people must be mad, Marshalls and target are across the road to buy items like that.

but not least my girl friend forgot her pricey sandals at the pool and sad no one could find them, Leila searched found them, and send them to the room !

*They don't include wifi or the use of the pool in your room rate, so prepare to pay more then you betted on.

We had a King room and it was very small.

We had a very small room (no room for 2 big suitcases)

but unfortunately it is high season and there were no other rooms available so we had to make do for 5 nights in this tiny room.

The hotel is old so expect historical ambience,the rooms are small

Our queen room was very small and totally inadequate for two not especially large adults.

The room is very small, cramped with a single chair for one person.

WHAT A JOKE… the room we were given was a tiny double bed in a tiny, smelly room over looking a dodgy car park!

but keep in mind that it's a historic property and the rooms are tiny.

Unfortunately the hotel’s age means that the rooms are quite small, bathrooms are tiny, water pressure is poor, air conditioning is very noisy, there are long waits for an inadequate number of elevators, and the pipes creak and bang.

The rooms are tiny, depressing, and loud as they are on sunset blvd.

but didn't realise the rooms would be this small.

Imagine that the room has a small blacked out window that cannot be opened and curtains that cover a wall!

The King room was much too small with a roll away bed for 3 - it looks larger in the photos on the website than it really is.

Staff were all very polite and helpful, always spoke when they saw you 'good morning', 'have a nice day', 'welcome back' etc
I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a classy hotel (with a certain level of fame) with friendly staff and in a great location.

In fact, the public areas of the hotel are very dark and dimly lit.

The rooms are dark and need a little work.

The hotel is a little dark, especially at the check in.

Rather tacky decor, and the bathrooms are very dark, dated, and grimey (rusty sinks, moldy shower, even saw a water bug in the shower one morning! Gross.)

A bathroom either with a reasonable shower or a freestanding tub with a shower curtain hanging inside it (nothing luxurious about that, and why I moved the first night), too many mirrors, and a way too dark.

but again so dark and with no natural light, that my wife complained constantly she couldn’t see properly to do her make up.

I really do not have anything negative to say about this property with the small exception that all of the mirrors in the room were very dark gray which made the room seem dark and smaller.

The over use of mirrors, heavy velvet fabrics and faux fur and the dark rooms makes me double check behind corners and closet doors.

but I personally found it too dark in the lobby and in my room even with the drapes open.

It sometimes could be dark for getting ready.

All the mirrors in the room are dark and smoky so it impossible to actually get a good look in the mirror.

I had been looking forward to the renovated rooms because the old ones were too dark, had uncomfortable seating, and were long overdue for an overhaul.

No longer dark and moody and slick, it is now bland and boring.

I would strongly recommend it, the only negative comment I may have is that the hotel is starting to get run down so the furniture may need to be changed or refurbished, and the rooms are a little dark, so you cannot work in the room,

Bathrooms don’t have adequate lighting and are very dark, some rooms have the weirdest bath tub shower combos which are hard to navigate and could be very treacherous, water sprays everywhere, so be careful with wet floors.

Only criticism was the rooms were dark and very poorly lit.

but all of the public spaces are just as dark as the rooms. This isn't so practical
- Rooms and some common spaces are starting to look old (bad carpet condition, damaged furniture, etc.)

The rooms are still dark and you can't get a full length mirror anywhere!

The smiling faces of Kyle, Patrice and Madison every time you walk through the lobby are just the best!

House keep is limited - need to call them to get the rooms cleaned .

but laugh at the comedy of the situation, one of the front desk workers could have easily run a few bottles up the first time I asked rather than keep passing the buck to room service (who never answered the phone ever).

I call the next day before checking out to make sure I have no additional charges and to verify they had handled with issues with valet in regards to the charges I occurred by having to buy AAA because they killed my battery by leaving my lights on a few days prior.

According “Roberto” from in-room dining, ice delivery is contingent on and prioritized by guests that “pay and tip.”  Very rude staff and I was advised by a manager that the hotel records guest calls, which is helpful to track conversations with rude staff.

On the last call to the front desk I said if you think I'm paying for the room after no sleep then think again.

He said if I was interested in learning about the new policies I should call management and ask about every specific new policy in regard to the pandemic.

None of my calls or concerns were appropriately handled to remedy the situation.

I was on the phone in a common area near a pool table on our floor when a housekeeper came by vacuuming and continued to vacuum closer

Public areas have loud music and if you’re looking to have video / audio calls you may be hard pressed to find a quiet spot.

I told management about both of these situations and I never got a call or a verbal apology.

They gave me the runaround, lied about not receiving emails (yet replied to explicit questions in the email), lied about phone numbers, phone calls and gave me the runaround sending me to numerous different people.

What that means to most of us is that it is not warm, spartan, full of Mr. Stark’s uncomfortable furniture, and not what Iwould call luxurious at all.

We had to call for our shoes and they returned unpolished.

We waited by the pool for 2 hours and we decided to call and Madison also answered the phone and she claimed that our room was not ready because we wanted the Tub in the room.

3) No pricelist for the minibar in the room and we had to call for it during several days until we got one.

The cordless phone did not work and I reported to operator

I waited for a bucket of ice for 2 hours, until I had to call to remind them of it.

She said she would and then proceeded to call SLS instead to see if they could change me to a double bed room which of course they could not.

Then housekeeping calls to tell me they do not have feather beds or anything to help make the bed more comfortable.

The first two rooms assigned smelled like ashtray and the hotel representatives indicated this is normal and eventhough there is $700 clean fee for smoking (sign on the TV stand), management are not enforcing the fee and look the other way.

My only minor complaint would be is that parking is a bit on the expensive side

although menu is very small and of course, terribly overpriced for what you get.

The breakfast  - we got a ridiculously high service charge at breakfast  (SPG and mandatory) and I thought almost $100 for breakfast for 2 people which consisted of avocado toast, eggs with side bacon and couple coffees  for $90 was ridiculous.

When I talked with a manager I was told that the lower rates at the hotel reflect the type of guests that were currently staying.

Just remember that anything you touch will cost triple, from a small bottle of water priced 12 dollars to the over 50 a day valet parking.

I get crazy when a $500 per night hotel charges you for coffee in the morning.

Do you not include the staff costs in the basic price shown?

The rooms also do not include a coffee maker, so if you want a morning brew, you’re forced to either head down to the lobby in your robe for coffee in a paper cup, or order a pot to the room, which after their FOUR separate fees (16.5% “staff”, 3.5% “administrative”, $6 “house fee”, and sales tax), without tip, comes to a whopping $24.

Breakfast was limited which meant for good breakfast you had to pay, this cost us an additional $60 a day.

Other things that I did not like: paid wifi, false fire alarms, poor housekeeping.

I refused to pay that so I checked into another hotel .

I took a series of Ubers the five days I was there, almost all of them had trouble finding the SLS and I was charged multiple waiting fees because they were either around the corner, couldn't find the entrance or just straight up canceled on me because they were frustrated with trying to find us.

but expensive as are the cabanas at the pool.

Dinner options - the main restaurant is a bit weird, with all dishes being tapas-like (very small portion) for quite high prices.

but nothing to become crazy about for the price we pay.

but the decor, room set up and location make this experience over priced and in my opinion looks like something out of 50 Shades of Gray.

I paid almost the same for a 60 minute massage (including tip $340 for a 60 minute hot stone and salt scrub massage) as I paid for hotel per night ($349/night).

We enjoyed some fun time on the rooftop pool deck and bar for both stays.

The hotel is gorgeous from the luxurious lobby to the rooftop pool.
