We were there on Labor Day weekend, and the air conditioning wasn't working well, so I sweated through the nights.

All in all, I didn’t sleep well due to the noisy AC, was reprimanded by Hunter, a young housemaid, had to pack up my bag, and instead of relaxing Sunday morning I had to drive to another hotel.

The bathroom did not have any AC or vents, there was a window that opened to the outside

but still rough around the edges (windows from the 1960s, AC turns off while you sleep, light from walkway illuminates room at night) but now 3X the pre-pandemic pricing.

but there is something wrong there, not sure if it's the AC or how old the rooms are but there is some strange smell when you enter the room.

No elevator, room covered with rug, ultra noisy and vibrating AC, bathroom with a mal functioning door, and last

AC units (not central air) that need to be turned on several times during the night.

We even turned our AC off and the noise didn't go away
Air Conditioners point directly over the head end of the beds and for anyone with allergies this is also a nightmare.

All the old "traits" are still there - the thin-walled rooms, non-double ply windows (despite what the hotel says about them installing double-ply windows recently), I hear just about everything the guest next door is saying on the phone (from 7-9am, no less) and what's on the tv next door (past midnight).

I had a few small issue which they fixed as soon as I reported them (missing TV remote and air con control not working).

The air conditioning was hard to operate with no instructions at check-in.

Gym is very small and not well ventilated.

The “Annex” is more like an outdated dorm room with scarred floors, broken sink drain, inoperable “guest service” phone, dismal lighting, miserly in wall heating unit, and a balcony overlooking a parking lot.

The room itself was fine, except the heater did not work until someone came and replaced a filter.

The second night the heater broke and after trying to fix it they gave us a small heater which worked well.

It’s an old school wall unit above the entrance so avoiding drops as you enter and exit became a thing.

but nothing that detracted from our stay, with maybe the exception of the air conditioner rattling a bit one night.

The only thing I noticed was the bathroom got quite steamy when using the shower.

She found the remote and played with it awhile before informing me that the units were new and don't always work and I just needed to play with the remote. What???

Great Location, hip vibe, beds are very comfortable, amenties top quality shampoo and body creme, Better Nespresso than most, included 2 bottles of water every day.

The boutique atmosphere nestled into the hustle bustle of a  Beverly Hills neighborhood  just steps away from the famous Rodeo Drive and the unique character of the Wiltshire Boulevard business district had everything going for it.

Staff was amazing and the environment was unforgettable.

We loved Mid Century Modern design of the Avalon Beverly Hills.

I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at the Avalon Hotel not only for the beautiful atmosphere

The suite was impeccably clean and beautifully designed, making our stay even more enjoyable.

We’re a fan of the Design Hotels brand and appreciate thoughtful and curated details in boutique hotels so it seemed like a solid pick.

The location, architecture, amenities, accommodations, staff, and pricing were by far the best I’ve experienced in Los Angeles.

The bar/restaurant and pool deck were always meticulously clean and quietly elegant day and night.

It was cute and the Kelly Werstler design was fun.

A beautiful intimate hotel where the staff are so polite, kind and smiley.

It was cool and we had a short stay so didn’t get a chance to use the pool, it is very cool and had a great vibe, sat around it for dinner and breakfast.

I really like the beautiful lobby with art-deco kind of vibes and pastel colors.

The furniture was a worn out, closet doors barely functioning and .

The carpet was musky and stained, the curtain was hanging from the rods, the sink fixtures in the bathroom were loose and leaky and the cabinet doors were broken.

Unfortunately at noon housekeeping started banging on the door and calling.

Our room was in a nondescript building that was separated from the pool building by an active alleyway, and was entered through the back exit door of the building next to the stairwell.

This door was slammed 4 times between 11pm and 5am waking me up each time EVEN with ear plugs in.

I didn't love that the shower didn't have a full door or curtain and because it was a rain shower the whole bathroom was wet after one shower.

My door unfortunately did not close and seal properly so a lot of light and noise came in.

unplug coffee (get hit in head with bathroom door if use poorly glued mirror on inside of cabinet) Room just wasn't friendly to put your things.

I had to block of the  gaps in the divider because when we first arrived, our dog ran through and into the open door of the room next door.

The housekeeper will not knocked and just open the door to come in twice.

Silly things like my bathroom door didn't shut and the curtains didn't block out the sun are my only complaints.

but were given a room next to the service door, the stairwell, and the garbage.

To get to our room we had to enter the main building and then exit it through the back door then cross the alley with garbage cans and parking spots and then go through the little door of the additional building.

There is no luxury in having to go out the back door over a dirty driveway into your room. only to find your room is dirty and had many maintenance issues.,unhappy and will not return  (confirm your location or be put in the building next to the one they advertise!)

Especially since there was not even a safety lock on my door.

When we arrived we had trouble getting in the door (which continued throughout the stay) and our room was on the second floor—- no elevator.

ii) our room was on the first floor with a small patio; even when fully shut and locked, patio door didn't completely close i.e.

We were to the back door of lobby through the alley to a stairwell into an elevator (not ideal)  Room was very spacious (bed was hard did not have a padded mattress cover)

Close to Hollywood's Walk of Fame, Sunset and Rodeo Drive.

Walking distance (or a short Uber ride if you prefer) to everywhere in Beverly Hills and great local restaurants (the hotel restaurant was temporarily closed due to COVID).

- Good location with walking distance from a variety of restaurants, cafes and shops on Beverly Drive, ending at Rodeo Dr.
- Variety of drinks in the minibar; local beer, wine and other non-alcoholic ones.

The front desk staff was so friendly and offered to help make reservations at local restaurants etc.

Great location, just a short walk to local restaurants & shops, which is a novelty when staying in LA!

Location is perfect and the food at the restaurant is top notch, better than a lot of the local restaurants even!

From his friendly personality, great smile and incredibly helpful tips without even us asking - he told us the hot spots, local cafes and his personal favourite places to shop.

The residential location of the hotel is actually quite pleasant and contrary to what some reviewers said, there are local restaurants and businesses within walking distance.

The location is great for Walking and getting around LA.

While we loved the location and the staff, the floor level access to safe, refrigerator, and drawers made the room less than perfect for us older folks.

I really wanted to love this place by the time I left, because the staff seemed to, the location was excellent for us, (near who we were visiting), and the restaurant was good enough for a hotel restaurant.

The pool area is relaxing and the cabanas are perfect for relaxing during a meal from the Viviane restaurant.

The onsite restaurant is fabulous and is set around the outdoor pool area.

The Pool Area offers an adjacent Restaurant with constantly great Food.

All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was spotless, the pool area is lovely.

Have a nice restaurant around the pool area and staff is terrific.

About the hotel.Situated in a quiet residential area, without hustle and bustle of the busy down town or street,  love this hotel’s vibe, especially the pool area, it totally brings you back to the 50’  and the spirit of Marylin Monroe (who used to live at this hotel and hang out by the pool) is probably still floating in the air.

Nevertheless, this hotel is a gem: the pool area is gorgeous, the rooms stylishly appointed, and the staff among the friendliest of any hotel I've stayed at.

I love that they let guests reserve time in the gym to keep it spaced apart, and that the open air pool area is quiet enough to work from your computer,

Alex behind the front desk was so sweet, on the ball and accommodating by showing us available rooms so we could find our perfect home away from home.

Rooms were very clean and everything worked well, especially the A/C which was critical because it was HOT.

The room was fairly clean when we arrived.

All staff were consistently friendly and helpful, the pool and restaurant area is beautiful and the rooms were large, light and well appointed.

The rooms were furnished whimsically, the beds were very comfortable, and there were plenty of pampering touches, from the Aesop bath products to the smartly curated selection of treats and beverages in the well-stocked mini bar.

Each room has an Apple TV so it was easy for me to stream from my laptop.

While the initial room didn't meet our expectations, Alex, an outstanding staff member, quickly upgraded us to a better room.

Room was nice, recently updated, our room had a nice little outside patio, very comfortable.

Almost forgot that they’ve got the best Valet going, also extremely polite.

From the moment I checked in, the staff was extremely attentive and ensured I was satisfied with all the offerings.

They took care of us and even helped me fix a mini-reservation snafu mistake I made, all while being fun to talk to, deeply knowledgable about the area, and easy to connect with.

The VIVIANE RESTAURANT on the premises was as pleasing and charming as a stand alone boutique establishment with a complemented staff unsurpassed.

Valet was also very attentive and super fast.

We ate at Viviane’s, and our server Farooq was outstanding, was personable and attentive without being intrusive.

Devarius was extremely helpful, assuring that our stay was as pleasant as it could possibly be.

As for the housekeeping staff , they truly went above and beyond for us.

The reception staff, especially Carlo and the team, were incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring our comfort throughout our stay.

We were greeted by a very helpful Daniel who after a long 10 and half hour flight was very helpful as was Dena the next morning directing us to a breakfast restaurant.

We can’t wait for the breakfast to come back since it it is mentioned many times on how wonderful it is.

Although the breakfast and restaurant area were closed we had a pleasant stay.

Another staff that was extremely helpful was Pil who gave great customer and delicious recommendations at local restaurants.

Nice pool, helpful staff,  safe, onsite parking, frig in room for all those yummy leftovers.

We like this hotel for its excellent staff, they gave us excellent addresses and information on places to visit, they explained our room and the activities to do, good size room, functional bathroom, varied breakfast and more.

The breakfast every morning was great, the head chief who made our eggs every morning was so lovely and friendly!

There is laundry, a bar (Opens in the evening, a nice secluded pool with seating and lounge chairs, small dinning area that serves complimentary breakfast where Hugo can make you a fantastic omelette to start your day.

Every morning we got our eggs and pancakes made by the wonderful Hugo and staff which always started the day off right!

The breakfast at the Hollywood Hotel was the best hotel breakfast my family and I have ever had.

And the breakfast was good, especially the amazing service of Hugo, an employee that served not only a great omelet

Hugo did an amazing job with the breakfast and was extremely efficient getting all the hot food served and doing it all with a smile.

From the customer service by Pil to the rooms that are fully remodeled ( room 312) we got the breakfast that is made for top 10 hotels and it’s included.

Hugo was our personal chef and he made us freshly made omelettes and scrambles to order.

but need to charge you a little of the haste, paper work and so on then that's understandable but this was a joke.

when we reached, the person on the desk asked us our identity and the whole balance amount in cash only,  even he didn't show us iur room.

I was told no because the card had to be present.

Makesure you do not loose your key and ensure checking out is before 11AM otherwise you will incurr an extra charge.

I see one reviewer said $35, they charged me $45.

I do not suggest any EV user charge their car here if they don’t have a Tesla.

The only head's up is that they charge for enclosed parking

We were disappointed to be notified when we checked in that parking is an additional charge, $30 a day!

My sister and I were locked out of our apartment with no spare key no help from our landlord and no hotel willing to check us in without a major credit card.

Upon check in we learned that they had canceled our reservation due to not having a card on file,

however left a lot to be desired - one was hanging off the wall and certainly couldn’t be used safely, another was behind a heavy unit (where the safe and microwave are) with it also slightly hanging off the wall, the only socket safe enough was below the TV so charging items was a bit of a challenge at times.

He used a disinfectant wipe for the credit card the terminal and all effortlessly.

We headed upstairs to find that the card keys to our room did not work.

suite” room we had booked wasn’t ready yet.. After 3pm we checked and was told it would be another couple of hours, or they could put us into a newly renovated room “for no additional charge”  Around 3:45 we finally got into room 209.

To charge more than one thing at the same time was a problem.

After we made the reservation we got a email from the hotel showing all of the "extra charges" like parking in their parking lot $27 + tax a night.

I said just credit my card with a nights stay refused point blank, absolutely no customer service/ consideration whatsoever.

At other hotels, you just present your ID and credit card and that’s it, unless you're applying for a job there.

but there is a tax or charge for everything California.

The only place I stay when I visit LA the manager Pil is amazing and has great customer service!

We chose this hotel as it offered free buffet breakfast.

The breakfast was fabulous (not always the case with an included breakfast) and the sauna was an amazing feature.

Breakfast being included in the room rate was excellent and Hugo cheerfully prepares fresh omelettes and eggs the way you like throughout the breakfast service.

but I do admit this hotel provides a pretty good breakfast for it being included for the price of the room.

I like the free breakfast and the courtyard is pretty.

We enjoyed the free breakfast every morning which included, made to order eggs, waffles and other options.

I was surprised that the hotel served really great complimentary breakfast.

Every time I stay at the hollywood hotel, it is always a wonderful experience, clean rooms, beautiful court yard, and complimentary breakfast.
