Since it was the host hotel for a conference I was attending, for reasons of convenience, I booked my lodging thinking that my experience would be just ok.

I found it convenient to the conference I was attending and the staff were helpful.

I stayed here because I was attending a meeting, otherwise, with the abundant new choices in downtown LA, I might not have chosen to stay here.

This hotel is a good place to stay when attending a conference in the nearby convention center.

The suite I was upgraded to was comfortable, clean and had a great view of the city.

PROS: fantastic city views, good downtown location, friendly staff, late check out possible.

Overall, our room was clean and the city view was amazing.

Check in was easy, Lourdes assisted us and was generous enough to upgrade our double standard room to a king with with a fantastic view of the city.

It was then that I re-checked my reservation, and I had reserved a “larger, city view, central tower room”, and that’s exactly what I was given.

We enjoyed the views of the city and didn’t really notice anyone “peeping” at us.

The restaurant at the top of the hotel, which includes a revolving cocktail lounge, has the most beautiful views of the city.

I had a two room suite, with a great view of the city.

Rooms are reasonable size with great city views.

Enjoyed a very comfortable room on an upper floor with great views of the city.

Got upgraded as SPG Gold Member to a superior room with a good city view.

Very nice clean rooms with views of the city.

The rooms were clean, decent size and I had a great view of the city.

Fun revolving bar with amazing view of city.

The Suites have nice views of the city and they are very quiet.

The hotel also is conveniently located downtown so it was possible to visit the beautiful LA Central Library or the very cool Last Bookstore between sessions.

There is parking less than half of the price just 2 blocks away.

My wife and I walked to a few bars and a fine dining restaurant within a few blocks so it was perfect for our evening

I choose to stay here for the reason that it’s most convenient to all the location I have to do.

There are several more within walking distance (outdoor seating-COVID), and the metro station and BLOC shopping center are 3 blocks away.

The hotel is close to many amenities needed and only 3 blocks from the metro station.

Stayed here for convention and it’s a few easy blocks to the convention center and all of the LA Live area.

I would consider staying here again because of the convenient location

but the hotel is definitely worth it has a great location great walking distance to the metro station as well and it’s approximately five blocks from the staple center

but cheaper parking available within blocks.

I was able to recently and I can tell you that about 2 blocks away you can see the towering building lit up like nothing else.

The hotel’s location is convenient and in an area the appeared clean and safe (LA is a big city).

It is about 4 blocks from a Metro subway station, and about 8 blocks from the Staples Center.

This Marriott/SPG large, modernized hotel is located in a convenient area of Los Angeles’ financial and business district.

Most of what you could ever need can be found either in the hotel (the gift shop has everything from ear phones to snacks), or within walking distance (and underground food court is just a block over, Target is a a 10 minute walk).

Better than walking the multiple blocks to find a place.

Pros: nice view; convenient location - walking distance to downtown museums; food court on 4th floor was a nice surprise.

When we left and finally received our final billing statement the room rate had been changed to 249/night and still charged the full parking fee.

What are vouchers for if you're going to be charged for what you get?!

However, the “upgraded” room I received had dirty, frayed carpets, no outlets near the bed for charging phones, and curtains that were nearly impossible to open and close.

My accounting department had to fill out a form and send it over to authorize payment on a company credit card that had our Accountant's name on it.

The in room dining was another issue, doubled charged a delivery fee for one delivery.

I was somewhat annoyed with getting charged over $6 for my morning coffee

The Head Valet or manager in charge Daniel was very rude, he seemed aggravated every time someone did not have a valet ticket as if it was troubling for him.

though business card on file, they asked for a PIN, which it doesn't have, asked for another card just in case and they charged the room on that one when I asked that they didn't.

We were disappointed with the valet ($50 daily charge and long wait times for your vehicle),

Prime is here too: make a reservation and bring your card full of cash!

No, bad room, no toiletries in bathroom, no tissues, not enough towels, shabby old pulled towels, poor service in restaurant, grossly overpriced drinks in bar and the worst:  they gave me off brand Vodka when they charged me for Grey Goose.

My credit card was charged $413.49 for the full stay on 11/25.

The customer service was horrific and my accounts were over charged and promises made to correct it never were.

The Hotel refused to apologise instead insisting upon saying it was a computer error and the system automatically billed us this amount- what a load of rubbish.

I really hated to sleep in this room, the light socket didn’t work for charging the phone and I attempted to turn the television on,

I know I’m not the only one that likes to charge my phone at night and also keep it relatively close so I can hear it.

The bottle never arrived and my Visa was charged.

If you’re a film aficionado, you will probably appreciate the array of movies that were filmed in the Westin Bonaventure.

The hotel has lots of history as location for many film and television productions which they provide information about.

There are fun facts about movies that were shot in the hotel you can look up if you're interested.

but it has been part of many very cool movies, so that's awesome!!

My husband had always wanted to stay here since some of his favorite movies were filmed here so I agreed.

I love finding all the plaques listing the many movies that have been filmed here.

True Lies was the first movie plaque I noticed (hence the Tango reference - I love that song).

Iconic architetcional building which appeared in famous movies like "True Lies" or "Forget Paris", as you can see when using the elevators which are attached on the outside of the building and provide great panoramic views.

The staff were great, helpful, and proud of the movies that had been shot there.

I have wanted to stay here for decades, this place is famous for movies shot here.

A Hotel as Unique at LA Itself: 
The walk from the valet parking to the lobby is like walking through memory lane as you witness the movie posters on display.

One cool thing I found was there was a video on YouTube which had clips of all the movies that featured the Bonaventure, which was cool.

For a restful, lovely LA getaway - complete w the movie scenes and glass elevators we all remember - pop on over.

Impressive that it was a hotel in several movies. Convenient

This is a large hotel used in many movies which was cool.

Love the film making history at this hotel, the views from up top, and awesome breakfast buffet,

Stay here if you need to be within day-time walking distance of The Broad, Broadway or the Disney theatre,

The architecture is amazing; designed by John Portman, it has been in a score of movies including "Interstellar".

Overall, a nice hotel, and certainly fun to see a hotel which I have seen so often in various movies (love "Line of Fire"-:).

Parking
  - Valet was full so I was told to self park.

We valeted and we would call down, and the valet didn't bring the car to us, since I  saw it was parked in one of the closer stalls we said that we would get it, and he said that's why I didn't bring it.. Um when you valet and pay $49 dollars for parking they should bring it to you.

Note: whether you are check in yet or not you drive down to the valet parking, unload, take your luggage up the elevator to the check-in lobby.

Valet parking fee is $50 per night, so you might want to investigate other options nearby.

Also, parking is expensive and there is usually a wait for the valet.

Long, confused lines to get in parking structure' so-called "valet" parking, NO help with luggage, no luggage carts, no help at all.

The only hiccup of the adventure was that their valet parking was full and we had to park across the street, which is not necessarily the hotel's fault

Although self-parking in the hotel’s underground car park is not an option and the valet parking fee is somewhat stiff we gather that both features are not atypical of the better LA hotels.

Arrival at the hotel is not well marked, as one enters the parking garage and then luggage and valet services will take care of your vehicle.

Here is why they did NOT get a good rating, and prospective customers should pay attention: 

* parking is atrociously expensive.

Also, if you have a larger vehicle I just wanted to point out that their parking garage only has a 6’0 clearance.

The parking garage is super expensive and it was actually full part of our stay so we had to look elsewhere to park.

There's no staff, no service, nothing is open, most of the building is empty, nowhere to park (you have to go across the street

Took 30 mins to find parking lot due to street construction.

Worst part of our stat was the parking lot price, my car paid 50% of the cost of my room per night.

CONS:  expensive parking, understaffed, uncomfortable small beds and starched bedding, no microwave, no room service, inability to call the front desk directly.

The parking garage smelled like a hemp farm and the smell was going through the ventilation into my room.

They try to call the Westin Bonaventure’s accounting again who tells them that they can’t add the parking and incidentals to the authorized card.

but honestly needs to hire 100s more staff members to take care of those paying high prices for absolutely NO service.

but since it is not, I cannot rate it higher.

Of course, the prices were spending in this Westin with the food being OK. During my stay in November 2021, there was no room service, which is sorely missing!

It's hard to believe it's part of the Westin hotel chain and it's ridiculously overpriced for what you get.

The internet constantly drops out 1 of the worse connections I've ever experienced,  was told seeing as it was free and lots of people using it it was tough luck..i explained I'd be happy to pay if it meant I could get connection for longer than 1p minutes., was told not an option so tough luck.

BUT the bathrooms are so tiny it is hard to turn around. The prices for Food in the restaurant is VERY high (even for LA)

TRAVELLERS USING A COMPANY CREDIT CARD -- please be aware, they WILL NOT accept the credit card unless it has your name on it when you try to use it to pay for your room.

The kicker was that when we left Monday at 8:30 am we had to pay another $60!

Only negative would be that you HAD to pay for Valet parking.

No one wants to stay in a filthy, roach infested hotel at a premium rate I might add.

It’s a great location in downtown Los Angeles if you’re attending a conference at the convention center or anything within LA Live.

This Marriott hotel is in a great location and was close to the conference I was attending at USC Marshall.

I was there for conference travel and this hotel is definitely the top place to be in L.A. when attending a conference.

Perfect location for events at the nearby Staples - and Convention - centers.

It's a decent property if you're attending a convention here.

Awesome property, right from the Porches to reception lobby to rooms, to convention halls .

The location is superb if you are attending an event at either the convention or staples center.

I stayed here for a convention and it was just okay.

The hotel is impressive with staff, amenities, convention space and walkable to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The JW Marriott is an above average convention hotel.

The hotel is in a a great area for the convention  center and restaurants.

It is perfect for meetings when at a convention, and the lobby bar and cafe give you lots of options.

It was great to stay in hotel to attend a convention, Staple center is just beside and LA convention is also very near.

While my fiancee was away at his convention, I was able to use the Ritz-Carlton spa in the hotel for a stress relief massage and a pedicure.

Within walking distance to many great restaurants, as well as LA convention centre and Staples centre.

Got charged for things while staying there, then had to go trough my bill item by item.

Getting charged for something I shouldn’t have and not getting any feedback for it is unacceptable.

I mentioned to the girl at the check-in that I had my car and asked where the charger was if I wanted to charge my car (I have a Tesla).

Make sure you receive documentation that you truly did pay cash otherwise they will charge your room and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

The plug points in the room not working, no ceramic cups or mugs in the suite rooms, food served in the Club Lounge is poor quality & wines are charges at very high prices.

but expect a large service charge which we were told did NOT cover gratuity.

They charged me afterwards $ 288,35 from my private credit card.

I'm sure if I did not show up, the hotel would've charged my card, right?

No reason for them to be charging for a cabana either and then tell you to go get your own drink and food perhaps from room service.

Note as in all American hotels of this calibre your room card is needed to operate the elevator.

Was charged twice for my room and had to wait 5 days for the credit which charges and exchange rates made myself be out of pocket even more

If you stay here you better use the safe in the room or the maids may take your valuables and also be very careful when laying down your credit card or leaving the receipt on the bar if you order drinks from the bar.

However, they were pressed up against the wall, so if you didn't have a smaller square charger, you couldn't charge your phone and leave it on the nightstand.

However, that was not good enough for her and she told me that she was going to charge me with the regular rate, which was twice the rate I had booked.

Most disappointing was being charged shipping fees (incoming) for the items that
I had ordered from Amazon.

They still use the key cards that must be inserted into the readers on the doors and each time you use the elevator.

They didn't have a car for me, then tried to upsell me to a more expensive car with no gas, then denied my reservation completely to give it to a customer renting it for a longer amount of time.

I saved and paid US$30,- for overnight parking at the 925 S Figueroa St parking lot that is practically across the street.

Avoid at all costs the side overlooking the Staples Center there is a huge five story advertising wall on the side of the adjoining Ritz Carlton which even with the blackout shade drawn was bright and annoying all night long, made for a very short nights sleep.

All the extra charges for the amenities we couldn't use were annoying as is the exorbitant parking

Parking (only Valet is available) is expensive, I learned you can get around with Uber/Lyft much cheaper than Renting a car and paying for the parking

But the food was terrible and horrifically overpriced.

We paid $517 ($189/night + $30 daily destination fee & taxes) for our two night stay.

The hotel charges a $32 daily resort fee with $20 that can be used towards food and beverage.

We finally ordered 
two burgers…as it turned out for $30 each… without any customization options and way subpar compared to the price.

but I’m in shock that they treat someone who stays 75+ nights per year this way… they offered nothing other than an apology… at any Hyatt, if something like that happened to me, they would either refund the points (that’s how he booked today) or refund $ if I paid in cash without any hesitation.

although we do not own a ridiculously expensive car just as much as they need THREE people to park one, we deserve the same RESPECT.

I didn't read anywhere that the hotel was doing this and parking was expensive at around $50/night.

Breakfast buffet was very limited and not worth the fee in my opinion.

Unfortunately, because of the price, the terrible Executive Lounge, I do not think I would stay here again.

but this fee is just a cash grab that doesn't provide value, and is somewhat hidden as it's not included until the very end.

He gave us nice beautiful upgrade 1364 and was the weekend after Kobes passing so Staples area was busy..  .

Easy access to Staples and the Convention Center.

The location is also excellent if you're going to an event at the convention center, Staples or LA Live.

Traffic around can get bad if there are events at Staples or LA Live

Check in was fast and efficient, room was spacious, everything was quite new.

Close to the Staples Convention Center and sharing some of its amenities with the Ritz Carlton, this is a pretty good pick if you have to be in Downtown.

but the location is outstanding if you are seeing a concert at the Microsoft Theater or taking an event at Staples.

The location was perfect as Staples was right around.

but doesnt feel like it and is close to Staples center (walking distance).

It's in easy walking distance to the Staples Center and some good restaurants, making it a fun area to stay for a few days.

This hotel was very comfortable in a great location near the Staples center, and provided a great food and beverage selection.

Located in LA Live it is close to the Staples Center, the Grammy Museum and there are plenty of places to dine nearby.

It is a very nice hotel at a great location near Staples center and close to convention center.

Overall, a great place to stay walking distance from the Staples Center and the restaurants at LA LIVE.

This LA Live location is fantastic with its proximity to Staples Center, Grammy’s and convention center.

The area is great because of the close proximity to the Staple Center and I’ll be staying here again.

It is  trendy, well appointed with excellent customer service and close to everything from the Staples Center to the Nokia Theatre.

It is close to Staples Center so you can watch a game live if you love baseball or other games.

JW Marriott is a nice hotel situated in the LA Live area of downtown LA in very close proximity to the Staples Center.

If you’re younger or in to being as close as it gets to the Staples Center then this is for you.

The location was great right near staples centre and only 10-15 min drive to universal studios 

I would defiantly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay close to the Staples Center.

Right next to Staples Center and within walking distance to multiple restaurants, shopping and metro.

I recently stayed here while attending a conference at the Staples Center and it was absolutely fantastic.

So we ended up being charged for 2 rooms when we only received keys for 1 room.

They stated that my credit card on file had declined so they released my room 3 hours before I arrived.

And last of all, I asked for a glass of water and the lounge staff directly gave me a bottle of water and charged an extra $4 for it. >:(

I have a charge on my card from my stay at the hotel that I want to discuss/potentially dispute (see below regarding sensor tray).

They warn you not to touch the expensive packed mini-bar because it is rigged to charge you immediately.

Like others, my key card took several swipes before it worked in the elevator or my door.

My key card didn't work properly in the elevator, the room and then again at the room after grabbing a bite to eat at the bar on the first night.

Frankly very disappointed that the deposit from my last stay which is meant to be held, was debited from my account for no reason.

Also, the destination fee was charged twice per day to which she could not give any satisfactory response.

plus they charge to my credit card me around 80 dollars without inform me.

I was told that the ONLY person who could reverse these charges was the Manager, who did not respond to repeated voice messages.

The only issue I've had so far is an extra charge for $52.98.

I  wish that they would not stock the fridge with items and allow  guests to put what they want in the fridge,  If you move anything in the fridge it automatically gets charged to your room weather you used it or not.

but I thought the room service charges were ridiculous.
