The room was superb, the breakfast and the service was first class and the hotel decor was exquisite.

The location is ideal, the staff is super helpful and friendly, the rooms are lovely, the breakfast is excellent.

The best thing about the hotel must be their breakfast buffet.

Rooms were immaculate and luxurious, and breakfast was a much anticipated event for us each morning, as the food, variety, and service were exemplary.

The breakfast is sensational - so many hot and cold choices, plus the loveliest rice pudding I’ve ever had.

The breakfast was incredible, one of the best I have ever seen in my world travels, and served from 7 to 11:30 so you can go early or sleep late.

The hotel, located in a perfect area of Lisbon,  is a historical hotel.

If you enjoy traveling to well kept and maintained historical site, with an amazing team who only wants to make certain your experience is pleasant then you just found your home in Lisbon!

If you want historic, best location in the middle of everything, great views, great staff, this is the place.

The hotel is beautiful and historical, we had room 416 with a statue to the right of our window.

The location was perfect for visiting the sites of historic Lisbon.

This hotel had all the classic charm supplemented with all the modern touches the traveller of today requires including lots of chargers and a fully charged no cost I phone in your room to take out and about with you if required.

The Avenida location within historic Lisbon is the best.

We chose Hotel Avenida Palace because we are very fond of historic hotels.

From the moment you walk through the doors everything is beautiful, the staff is courteous and caring, classic and charming hotel.

but also for its historical connections - you will be staying in a building which in its time has hosted not only the rich and famous but also Spies, secret agents, world celebrities, Royalty, and of course, Alves Reis, arch conman and brilliant criminal mind, who used the Palace bar as his office, ( do go for a look at his house, The Casa do Menhino D’Oro, The house of the golden boy, and then afterwards visit the home of Amalia Rodrigues, which is close by, Amalia’s pet parrot, Chico, will welcome you!)

One last thing, the breakfast buffet is extensive in a beautiful room overlooking a roundabout of the Main Street with a classic monument to view.

The hotel is in the center of the city, it is clean, well designed and the night music is a great addition.

Staff were welcoming and helpful, the building is absolutely stunning, bar with live music (and well made cocktails)  in the evenings is a lovely touch and the location is very good for a wide number of hotels and tours.

Their bar has live piano music most nights.

Great location next to a metro station; free breakfast, upgraded to a suite upon arrival, music in the salon nightly, good drinks from the bar.

Our room was great, housekeeping was outstanding,and the bar downstairs was a perfect place to unwind at the end of the day, while listening to jazz or fado while sipping perfectly made drinks.

The staff were so attentive, from the front door to check in all very special, professional with old style grace, in the bar at the piano lounge, plus the cocktails were delicious 😁 and the breakfast experience was 2nd to none and I have been lucky to travel to and stay in some of the best hotels in the world.

We also enjoyed the live pianist each evening whilst having a drink in the bar.

The classical pianist playing the piano in the lounge everyday at 7:00 pm and the choice of a complimentary bottle of wine in our room.

At 7 pm each evening there is a 1 hour piano concert.

We wanted to spend more time enjoying the evening music in the stunning bar area, it's that nice.

Their cute bar is a good place for a pre- or post-dinner drink and had lovely music every day.

We enjoyed the tea service and the nighlty piano music.

At night we'd stop off at the lounge for drinks and live piano music.

The large, open lounge space is a nice place to relax after a day of sightseeing to enjoy some music and a glass of wine.

The rooms were brilliantly looked after and the little gifts we were left every day were an awesome touch, they made all the difference!

We arrived mid- morning and were put immediately in a upgraded room.

The superior room is gorgeous, very big and tastefully decorated.

The room was average size and the bathroom was clean and a good size.

They have tried to keep the hotel rooms up to modern standards

Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.

But to our pleasant surprise not only were we able to get our room early they upgraded us because we had booked directly with them.

Great comfortable rooms, the stuff is going out of the way to be helpful.

It was such a pleasure to get little surprises each evening left in our room.

Our room was luxurious and had all the amenities we needed.

There were 6 of us traveling and they were able to accommodate our request to be close to each other and got 3 rooms in a row.

Easy to walk anywhere and the train station is right next door, making an early morning trip to Sintra a breeze.

(try a day trip to Sintra if you have time).

Easy walking distance to many of the main attractions with  metro stops and Rossio train station from where you take the train to Sintra  right next door.

But you are literally next to the train station for Sintra and the bus stop and the Metro.

We loved the location in the old area of Lisbon which is perfect for a stroll through the town or a train to Sintra (a must see).

The Rossio train station is right next door so convenient for day trips to Sintra, etc.

Booked this hotel for summer holiday with family, beautiful looking hotel with great location and very friendly servers, the room is old school classy with comfortability, there is a train station next door provide easy access to nearby town like Sintra

It is in walking distance to the historical center, just few meters away from Rossio train station (trip to Sintra) and has a nearby metro station.

The location is perfect to tour Lisbon and to take the train to Sintra.

The hotel location can not be beat, it is immediately next to Rossio station which is the main gateway to Sintra.

It’s directly next door to the Rossio train station that goes to Sintra and a 1 minute walk from the Hard Rock Café and Restauradores square which is where many of the tour companies begin their tours.

It was so convenient to have a five minute walk to our Sintra/Cascais tour departure area at the Hard Rock Cafe.

The location is fantastic and minutes away from everything, including the metro and the Train station if you are planning on visiting Sintra (highly recommended).

We booked a small group trip to Sintra and had a great time.

The concierge service was really good, and they arranged a very nice trip to Queluz, Sintra, Cabo da Roca and Cascais with a private driver.

The only minor negatives were the shower being on the small side and we had a couple days of missed turndown service.

The bad thing is the bathroom was so small and it's not advisable to open door widely because the toilet seat blocks it, a sliding door will be better option

but can’t recommend because of short-sighed corporate policy that requires that the totally unnecessary door in the tiny bathroom that is just always in the way (it HAS to be closed to sit on the toilet which means your significant other is trapped either in or out while you are sitting) HAS to remain in place and they would not remove it upon request even though there is already a door separating the bathroom from the bedroom in the small hall.

For a suite of that size, the bathroom was tiny, just filling some spare space between the two rooms.

Both times, they set up the kids' area in the cutest way, with tiny bathrobes and slippers for them!

It was joined by a dark corridor and had a tiny bathroom, with a shower that my husband could barely fit in.

The bathroom is small, Two people were hardly can use at same time.

It is a very old hotel so the rooms are small as are the bathrooms.

The bathrooms are small with limited shelf space.

Only real let down was the gym, just a couple of cardio machines in a small room.

Room was bight, however our standard room was a little small

Our room was a little small when you have 2 large suitcases and felt a bit cluttered.

The room was very small and so finding a place to put your luggage etc can be a. Challenge.

The table in the room was too small, so don’t plan on sitting and working while you on vacation 😊.

I was with a colleague and we booked 2 single rooms, the rooms were very small

I don't think rooms are 5 stars, a bit dated and our bathroom has a sewer gas smell for a few days.

My wife suffers from severe mold allergies.

but it is old so the rooms have that wet mildew smell.

but upstairs it’s musty and very dated.

There was a very bad sewage smell coming from the bathroom especially in the morning.

We left them in the room when we went out for the day around 10am and they came back around 4pm the same day, folded immaculately in a nice wicker basket and smelling fresh.

The sheets smelled dusty as if the bed had not been used in a while.

Well after that I must say the place was so dated and musty.

But it’s not cold cereal and stale pastries.

Only issue was a slightly musty smell - hotel staff advised and said would be looked into.

The shower/tub grout was covered with mildew.

but then I check out the night and I stumble across the lobby smelling of tobacco and the officials smoking it inside totally a lack of respect as I remember at check in saying it was forbidden .

The staff were attentive and friendly yet professional.

The staff went above and beyond in making our stay fabulous.

We had five glorious nights here and all the staff are amazing.

This hotel is very special, from the welcoming staff and professional service to the elegant decor and meticulous renovations preserving the antiquity with modern facilities.

Everyone we met was friendly yet professional, and we were touched by the many small kindnesses we experienced during our stay.

The staff is very professional and helpful.

There was enough for everyone to be happy and my kids loved the buffet and the food!

Breakfast buffet was actually best meal of the day.

The food is delicious, especially at the oriental restaurant.

We also ate at the beach buffet several times at lunch which was great, We also ate at the steak restaurant which was OK and the main buffet which was OK. 

Staff were helpful when there was an issue with our transfer and the ladies at Royal reception can’t do enough for you.

The staff at buffet is very polite and efficient,especialy William and Evelyne at the breakfast

but for the level of the hotel the food is not very good, especially the buffet.

The resort has 3 buffets open for differing meals and 6 sit down restaurants.

We had a few unwelcome episodes (for example, the restaurants needing reservation are subpar to the one general buffet).

front desk encounters lacked friendliness, while buffet staff members were a positive exception.

When arriving at the resort, it can be overwhelming to navigate around to the different buildings, plan excursions, and set reservations for meals outside of the buffet.

Food was pretty average in the main buffet

Oh, we stayed over Thanksgiving, and were beyond impressed with the Thanksgiving Diner at the Buffet.

Most restaurants are open-air, so the birds swoop in to steal pastries & items off the buffet.

Roman Diaz, server at the swim up bar buffet, and Jamie, white water rafting instructor at xsavage, were especially pleasant with helping and serving us!

Food was great at buffets, which I can honestly say is a first.

The tacos were delicious and the best thing we ate here - miles above anything else.

One of the pools has a bridge with rusted rods coming out under it.

Private check in consisted of me walking my bag across the lobby, down a flight of stairs and over a bridge!

Entertainment during the day tended to be around the two pools either side of the bridge the one with the swim up bar and the one with the entertainment hut.

the long view down a beautiful mahogany colored bridge that leads to a lighthouse greeted us when we arrived.

I would suggest a sign at the enterance to the long wooden bridge indicating that the beach buffet is closed before walking 15 minutes to see a sign just outside the restaurant showing closed.

The main lodge is impressive and beautiful, and the shop and bridge lined canal that flows through it is pretty, inviting, and warm.

Most memorable moment was waddling back to the resort from the beach on the wooden bridge or walkway.

The walk to the beach from our room was probably 400 meters on a wooden bridge and path through a mangrove marsh/forest.

We were playing volleyball in the pool, and my fiancé jumped up for the ball and banged his head on a cement bridge in the pool.

Grounds are beautiful - wildlife around resort was fun to encounter.Pool area was great!MONKEYs in the trees and on bridge was awsome - Remember that they are wild - BEWARE.

The bridge planned many components of the wedding/ceremony with Romance Department.

but with a large gap underneath the room door I’m not surprised so many bugs are making home in guest rooms, I’m sure something could bridge the gap to make guests more comfortable.

.beautiful stone pillars along the little river with the boat ride, the little shops that have anything you need, right on the first floor of the lobby, nice and helpful staff, great food and drinks at the buffet - shout out to our super friendly servers at the pool buffet (Monica), and of course the wildlife such as monkeys and deer on the grounds.

The grounds, staff and accommodations are absolutely excellent.

We had an amazing holiday at the occidental,  the grounds are lovely and the wildlife is amazing!

Also great to see the Mayan ruins in the grounds.

On the plus side the location and grounds of the hotel were lovely with wildlife in abundance.

It is set in lush grounds and is truly beautiful and teeming with wildlife.

We stayed in buildings 14 which is the resorts vacation club/timeshare area.

What a great way to ruin someone’s vacation.

Easily one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken because of the energy and staff Xcaret encompasses!

Overall we got exactly what we wanted from this holiday.

Also, at other resorts we’ve received vacation packages worth hundreds of dollars in discounts  for attending a time share presentation.

Booked with BA holidays in Jan sale, and got a really reasonable deal.

First family vacation in 4 years and Occidental at Xcaret was a hit.

They will try to get you to buy in to their vacation club (timeshare type of thing), which could be a deal breaker for some.

but it turns out the free gift is given to you from a sales agent who wants to sign you up for their vacation club timeshares.

This Resort is the best opportunity for an ACTIVE vacation.

This was the best holiday we have been on.

This took away so much from us in enjoying our vacation.

but the Fuego food is excellent and it was a lot of fun for our teen.
