Our room ‘Bamboo’ is really not up to standard, as mentioned by a reviewer back in May I imagine we are talking about the same room, the bathroom window has a sign saying ‘broken do not open, awaiting maintenance’ it’s now August and the dead spider and many cobwebs would suggest this has been the case for months, not ideal in this stifling heat!

even though we turned the radiators off our room remained tropical, so much so neither of us used duvet overnight.

The bathroom as you can see, had dust and mould under the radiator where the towels hang.

but cooled down with windows open and there is a fan in the room.

There's no central heating and the room was freezing when we arrived.

We also had a very ineffective fan in the room which did nothing!

As the hotel is grade 2 listed then air conditioning isn’t allowed.

The only downside was no air conditioning, at least in the Grand Suite.

There are no elevators, no air conditioning and not all rooms are located with a view.

The bathroom was my favourite part of the room though, it had a double sink, huge power shower and under floor heating!

We did have to open the windows for the whole of our stay even after switching the radiators off, it was so hot!

but like all historic buildings,without ac.

We could have used A/C with the heat wave,

Comfortable rooms if a bit warm no air conditioning

but was provided with a fan which solved that issue).

We checked in during the hot streak in England knowing we probably would use a fan.

We were shown our room in detail, how to work the air con/lights, where the safe was etc.

but can be managed by off street parking
2) Direct sunlight into the room may make it feel warm in the afternoon but you can ask for a fan
3) No lifts so you will need to carry your luggage although staff will help

Unfortunately twice we found rubbish from the skip down the side alley blowing against the gate throughout the night.

Very busy road at the front and there is no double glazing and no air conditioning so the room we had was noisey all night.

There was an arch leading to our bedroom.

The location was perfect for exploring Bath and the garden was a lovely place for an evening cocktail.

We would definitely stay at The Ayrlington again if visit Bath or the surrounding area again.

Our room was clean, spacious, well equipped and with a large sofa and spotless bathroom.

Bath is a beautiful city this guest house was so beautiful.

The location was perfect to explore Bath.

That said our stay was fantastic, it’s 7 minutes walk to the centre of Bath.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Ayrlington to anyone, who wants a memorable stay in the wonderful city of Bath.

Travelled down to watch a show, initially we weren’t planning to stay in Bath

Walk to centre was 11mins over the bridge, taxis plentiful, bath itself is lovely.

The bathroom is a step in bath, the shower was fine, you get given the normal shower and moisturiser.

Good sized bathroom and lovely walk in shower, Dining room experience was good, 2 out of 3 breakfasts were good, last one hard dry poached eggs spolit it.

We chose the Ayrlington as our base for our stay in bath and overall it was a good experience.

The breakfast was amazing and a really good choice of options too we highly recommend it your wanting to visit bath it’s literally a 5 min walk to the center.

We often stay in the Bath area and chose the Ayrlington for a weekend stay.

There were comfy chairs and a fantastic bathroom.

This is a lovely hotel, well placed for the sights of Bath.

Well situated close to the centre of Bath.

The rooms are very nice and the bathroom was beautiful, a large shower, marble effect everywhere and extremely clean.

Marble bathroom with a walk in shower was stunning.

The room was beautifully decorated (brass/black/green/marble - reminded me of the Great Gatsby).

The bathroom again was very clean with marble effect tiles.

The room was immaculate , the en suite bathroom was huge with marble counter and twin basins, huge shower cubicle with marble seat at one end.

It was huge, very well presented and clean, marble heated floors and a fully marbled bathroom complete with two sinks and a shower that you could hose down an elephant with.

I had requested the Pulteny room if possible and was very pleased to get that room.

We thoroughly enjoyed the great quality English breakfast each morning which we decided to have served in our room.

The rooms were large the beds were kings and the linens were so comfy.

The rooms are all quaint and well appointed.

The Pulteney room which we requested was beautiful.

The room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable.

The room, called Zen was bright and airy and decorated to the high standard.

We spent a lovely couple of days here from Thursday, 11th august for my Wife’s 40th birthday in the Grand Suite, or Garden Room.

However, the garden room being on the ground floor meant that we had what was probably the coolest room in the building, giving us comfortable sleeping conditions.

The rooms were comfortable, pillows could be upgraded

The gardens surrounding the room were also great!

The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and tastfully decorated.

Less than 15 minutes' walk from the railway station, this small hotel has just a few rooms, each with its own name.

We can’t recommended this lovely hotel enough ,myself and my husband stayed for two nights and it was fantastic, all the staff were wonderful,the room was so clean and well equipped.

Our room was lovely, a good size, clean, quiet and comfortable.

Bianca at the front desk was exceptional.

She is such a lovely lady and a credit to the business.

All the staff were friendly and efficient.

As my title would suggest our stay was a ‘mixed bag’, 
Positives- very friendly and helpful staff, nicely cooked breakfast with a good hot selection.

The wallpaper on the ceiling is coming off and the window in the bathroom was broken.

We had a ground floor, front facing room, which wasn't ideal for wandering around au naturel! Also, the bathroom window position means that you can be left looking out on the carpark during visits to the smallest room in the house(!)

On the down side, parts of the hotel do look a bit tired, our window pelmet was hanging off on one side, the bathroom looked like it had been painted with a spoon, there was no mirror in the bedroom which made drying my hair a bit tricky.

Paper peeling off walls, and bathroom window could not be used as it was waiting for maintenance, must have been a while as the dead creatures in there have died long ago.

Place I would say isn't a 5 star its quite shabby in places and carpets n windows are dirty and stained in room.

but there was no blind on the window which faced the street however the room  itself definitely needed a refresh and although visibly clean enough could have been cleaner.

The breakfast room overlooked the garden and we managed to get a seat by the window both times.

It was not what we expected , with flaking windows , old furniture and marked walls.

One of the windows by the beds was rattling and unable to close properly and the one in the bathroom was the same.

There's no climate control other than a window.

Single glazed ill fitting windows banging all night resulted in 2x very poor nights sleep.

but the windows would rattle whenever the wind shifted which woke me up many times in the middle of the night, sounded like someone in the room.

Only one point to make is that a blind at the bathroom window wouldn’t go a miss.

The slight negative for us, was that we would have preferred a blind to have been included in the bathroom.

Loved the history of the titanic and to still see parts of the arch to terminal was amazing.

Bathroom was clean and I had no waits to use the facilities.

If there were sinks in room or in the private baths, then the SHARE would be fine, as everything was clean enough etc - just rather awkward, and I am NO PRUDE at all.

50sqft or 5m2 and if you are staying in standard room, bathroom/toilet is shared.

Bathrooms are clean and the beds are super comfy.

Every single trip (pre and post Covid) has been met with a friendly and attentive staff, impeccably clean bathrooms, and a good bed to sleep in before the next day of adventuring.

the positives: for so much sharing of restrooms and showers it’s clean.

The rooms, beds and bathrooms are all very clean.

They were very clean as was the community bathrooms and entire hotel.

"you know, we gave you a free bathroom," he told me as if wanting to sleep in a hotel room was a new concept to him.

The room was beyond charming, I took  a Captain's room with terrace by the Courtyard, which made my sleep perfect; I asked for a room with a tub, I'm glad they could accomodate my ask- a huge soaking tub with amenities by historic nearby Bigelow added to my joy.

Bathrooms and toilets are clean Hotel design is really nice.

There are many amenities which I did not use being rainy February like free bicycles.

The shared bathrooms were adequate, clean, and we had no major conflicts with others using them.

The shared bathrooms were spotless, stocked and adequate for guests.

However, given its fantastic location and almost unbelievable price, this is an excellent option if you are prepared to compromise and forgive these features.

This hotel is well located, being a short walk from the nearest subway station and with multiple places to eat within reach.

Great quiet location on a cobblestone street.

It was a great location, 5 to 10 minute walk to where we wanted to go.

Pros on the other hand: Location is very good!

Clean, affordable, and in a great location.

Such a great hotel, friendly staff, fab location and has so much character.

This breaks my heart about The Jane, I've stayed many many times over the years, it's a real gem in a marvelous location.

The Jane is located in a very nice area next to the Hudson, surrounded by the Whitney, High Line, Meat Packing District, Pier 51 park and Greenwich Village.

Great location close to the Hudson River park, West village and downtown.

- Great location in Greenwich, relatively close to Penn Station
- Lovely downstairs cafe; good for working/calls

It’s got a nice location on the Hudson River and some nice restaurants nearby.

It seemed funky, fun, very affordable, great location, had a rooftop bar/lounge over looking the river and a restaurant with great reviews which we thought would be convenient for  pre-theater apps and cocktails.

Great location at the end of the High Line and close to everything in the West Village.

but otherwise it's got charm and a great location.

Ultimately, it served its purpose as a decent place to rest for a two-night stay in Manhattan.

If you like hotel accommodations that are quirky, quaint, and cool, for a very reasonable price, I have no doubt that you’ll like The Jane Hotel in Manhattan’s Meat Packing District.

It’s pretty centrally located, so it didn’t take us more than 30 minutes to get anywhere in Manhattan.

Priced at a third to a quarter of the normal Manhattan hotel rooms these cozy rooms are in a very quiet neighborhood and provide an excellent place to return to after your day in The City.

Very good prices for Manhattan .the staff is welcoming and always ready to help you.

This hotel is in a great location in Manhattan.

Nice cool restaurant and bar to hang out and even one of currently the hottest clubs in Manhattan  on the first floor.

but did taint our stay slightly, 
Location-wise, it's in Greenwich Village which is a beautiful part of Manhattan - right by the East River and a lovely neighbourhood.

I love that The Jane offers a stylish budget option in the best neighborhood in Manhattan!

Great value and location was unbeatable for easy access to all parts of Manhattan.

Recommended for solo travellers looking for a room in this incredible area of Manhattan at a reasonable cost.

stayed at the hotel before and because it is in such a good Manhattan location stayed there again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Jane, set in the beautiful West village of Manhattan.

It is by far the best value in Manhattan, especially considering it is clean and safe.

Despite this, I've still given the hotel 4/5 stars and this is because the facilities were excellent, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and the hotel was in a superb location  - so easy to walk or travel into central Manhattan.

If you want to get a feel for what a hotel can be, if you want a quiet West Village location a stone's throw from the High Line and the new Whitney plus easy access to all of Manhattan, you can't go wrong.

If I were returning to New York I would stay in a Comfort Inn or similar further out of Manhattan, as the subway system is so handy and efficient.

I would definitely consider to stay in The Jane again when I come back to Manhattan.

The bathroom was just two doors away, BIG, with marble floors and counter, beautiful fixtures, and private stalls for the toilet and the shower.

Shared bathroom was surprisingly large and art deco - black and white tile and marble, two sinks, two overhead rain shower stalls with locking doors and two toilets.

-The two sinks on the marble counter in the bathroom area are nice and clean.

In my experience, the marble sinks have always been clean and well maintained.

Again, the detail is nice, with black & white tile and marble vanity tops.

Wood paneling & trim, marble shelves, everything in good condition & clean.

I had a really good time, it's a very pleasant hotel situed between The Village and Meatpacking District, short walk from the subway.

During the day I felt fine as the location is quite good in Meatpacking District.

The place's a historic landmark, complete with its own café and its own bar/lounge, offering free bicycle for you to ride and conveniently located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, close to shops, the High Line and the subway.

Great little hotel with an excellent location to Greenwich Village and the meatpacking district.

The location is perfect near to all the best west village and meatpacking district bars and restaurants.

This boutique hotel is conveniently located near the Meatpacking District and the Hudson River, it's a great hotel for solo travellers.

This place has character and is a short walk to Greenwich Village and the meatpacking district.

From the Gatsbyesque Ballroom to the quirky Cafe Gitane, this hotel has such a great sense of style - the amazing view on the Hudson River and the location in the middle of the Meatpacking District add to the charm.

Location is in the meatpacking district, close to subway, and around the corner from High Line entrance.

If I ever return to New York I would stay here again - it is a beautiful location in the meatpacking district, near a subway for easy access to the airport and the rest of the island.

Also, it is situated in the Meatpacking district which is one of my favourite neighbourhoods.

Located in the West Village, this hotel is conveniently situated for travelers to walk around Greenwich Village, the Meatpacking District, Chelsea, etc.

We wanted to be in Manhattan and to be fair the hotel is in a brilliant location, on the border of the Meatpacking District and West Village and within walking distance of loads of places to eat and drink.

The Jane is a budget hotel in an excellent location within the meatpacking district of nyc.

The staff were helpful, and the location is excellent, right in the heart of the Meatpacking District, and very close to the Highline and the Whitney.

The Jane is an historic landmark of Manhattan, located at the edge of the West Village, the Meatpacking District and Chelsea.

It's in the Meatpacking district so location is good.

but the doors are heavy, so you could easily hear other people, and since bathrooms are shared, you could hear heavy doors closing all times of the day and night.

However, NEVER DURING CONSTRUCTION, NOISE & OBSTACLES & rude workman everywhere!!

but one morning a loud grinding noise from within the bowels of the building started at 7:12 AM.

It was a cold winter weekend, and hotel was fairly empty so no guest noise to worry about.

Main concern is noise: 
Pick your favorite: Westside hwy; The Ballroom club and your A/C -- they are all there rumbling, thumping and humming when you are trying to sleep.

The noise and vibration from the music make it impossible to sleep - especially if you, like us, are unlucky enough to stay on the second floor.

Inevitably there is noise, because there are so many rooms per hall and the doors slam slightly.

Ridiculous you can't open a club in an old hotel and not realise that the sound would keep quests awake!

Restaurant closed, rooftop private, ballroom private, no bikes, no padding on mattress- bedsprings are felt all night, no control of heat, hear everybody in hall,  SO tiny: if you are the slightest claustrophobic you should think twice.

but now I'm just not sure about the smoke and noise.

at 2am, I was literally bounced out of bed by a persistent booming sound that wasn't just loud, it was vibrating the whole room.

I was ill at the time (winter) and management had me sit with a fever in the lobby, coughing and wheezing up a storm, for an hour before management confirmed the rate I'd claimed earlier in the day.

Hip popular nightclub on the weekend so be prepared for noise and people.

Throughout the night, you will hear nonstop banging of doors and you will have terrible sleep.

The windows are not well sealed and the noise from West street is very loud.

I even told the front desk that if we experienced some noise from our captains cabin, it would be no problem.

though she was doing  us a favour by letting us spend money there.Maybe the management should give the staff a lesson in customer communication skills.We had a couple of drinks despite the noise from the drilling.The hotel was covered in scaffolding so they were obviously having work carried out.

We were told to wait in line which was odd because there was no line and the place did not seem overly busy ( usually you can hear the music and the crowd from the st).

Someone was smoking cigarettes either in their room or hallway.

Just some examples of unpleasant conditions:

• There was only one working bathroom on the 4th floor since the other one was sealed off, meaning 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 sinks were to be shared by guests in the 40+ rooms on the floor.

Yes, there are some issues – the bathroom facilities are too few to serve the number of rooms per floor, the bunk rooms are seriously tiny, and the third floor suffers from the permanent aroma of fags Thanks to a couple of permanent residents who the hotel apparently have no control over.

While my room was small, this didn't bother me as I was out most of the day - nor were there any conflicts with using the shared toilet/shower facilities.

Everything about the room was horrible, and I’m used to small spaces.
