I organised a surprise afternoon tea for a friend’s 60th birthday and everything was successful, great food , helpful staff in particular  Mrs Jackson and Svetlana.

We recently had a family meal to celebrate my Sister-in-Laws Birthday at the Clermont's on site restaurant and we cannot praise it highly enough.

Just came back for a one night stay with a friend for her birthday, fab location for all things London.

Went to The Clermont for afternoon tea for my mum’s 80th birthday the hotel is amazing, the staff were very attentive and the afternoon tea was fantastic and to make the experience even more special they brought out a piece of chocolate cake and sung happy birthday to her.

Celebrated my 40th birthday at the restaurant.

I came back for there great service they really were the best, it was my wife’s birthday and they made it so special would 100% recommend to anyone I know, the food was sooo nice as well.

Considering we were getting a great deal anyway they went above and beyond, it's is my other halfs birthday and they really made an effort to treat him to a special evening.

This was a surprise birthday trip that included an overnight stay at the Clermont, and from check-in to check-out it was an exemplar in customer service.

Recently booked a 4 night stay for my wife's birthday.

Renata went above and beyond with her service, even surprising my friend with a cake and candles for her 50th birthday.

The icing on the cake was being served a slice of birthday cake with candle and a happy birthday sang by all the dinners .

They arranged a cake for my daughter for her birthday and it was delicious.

My wife and I love afternoon tea and we booked this for my birthday.

We spoke to her between courses, she was attentive to us at every moment, and at the end she had a very special gesture, she surprised us with a piece of cake and a candle to celebrate my birthday (written in Spanish, as we are from Spain).

The food was excellent as was the service, special mention for Renata who when found out it was my husband’s birthday brought out a slice of chocolate cake on a decorated board with a candle (a lovely touch)   Will definitely return

I came here as a surprise for my birthday - they especially gave us a room at the front with great views and even put some chocolate cake on the table which was a lovely surprise!

We stayed at The Clermont, Charing Cross from 6/19-6/24 for my daughter’s 16th birthday and it was absolutely fantastic!!!

Special highlight was our youngest boys told the foyer staff it was their birthday so they all sang ‘happy birthday’ to them before we left, made our stay a little bit more special!

However, she had checked me into a room above a burger restaurant, next to the hotel lift and a a few yards from a busy traffic junction and my window looked out on a busy pedestrian walkway.

The only extremely minor criticism is the lift is soooo slow!

The only elevator in this wing was out of use during our whole 4 night stay and this was a major inconvenience.

1) elevator was not working, had to carry bags up stairs, no accommodation, 2) air conditioning was not effective for an 80 degree Fahrenheit day.

We returned from dinner one night to get trapped in the lift, after finally getting ourselves back to Ground Floor after many minutes we advised reception who said they knew about the faulty lift.

The centre piece is the eye catching spiral staircase still bearing scars from incendiary bombings also check out   a quirky telephone box by the lifts.

Our only small issue with the room was that we seemed to be a room which was the furthest possible from lifts and stairs etc.

This was a bit worrying in case we would be stuck in the lift in a fire .

but at a new section that you need to take two elevators to reach.

Outside the lift, meant it was noisy with footfall and then at midnight the music from the bars started up.

There were no signs by or in the elevators explaining this complex navigation.

On the downside, the Buckingham Wing is a long way from the hotel entrance (you have to walk down several corridors and take 2 different lifts to get there) and

We were assigned a room in the Buckingham Wing which meant go to elevator on second floor, cross an interior bridge, take another elevator to a different floor then find your room.

but we were never given a better room position and had to take 2 lifts and with the walking involved it took more than 5 minutes to get to and from the room within the hotel.

The hotel is actually spread across 3 buildings connected by a bridge & this can be a little tedious as it means 2 elevator trips and a long walk.

but come on Amba the lift was extremely annoying!!!

The breakfast room was crowded and as with the lifts, insufficient for the size of the hotel.

It is walking distance from the National Gallery, Trafalgar, Picadily, Covent Garden, Soho.

It’s a stone’s throw from the national gallery and great walks along the Thames.

the hotel's loacation is amazing, on top of charing cross station, across the street from the national gallery, trafalgar square, and a quick stroll to the west end, soho and covent garden area.

The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square and other sites are an easy amble.

The view of the National gallery and the famous monument were in sight from the opulent dining room. Bravo.

Thames, Southbank, Trafalgar Square, about 7 nearby tube stations, Leicester Sq, Covent Garden, theatres, 7Dials National Gallery ,Piccadilly Circus and more!

The hotel is situated right in the mix of London, with the National Gallery visible from the restaurant as it’s just across the road!

Ideal for theatreland, National Gallery, Trafalgar Sq, the Thames, Westminster, Buckingham Palace and More.. 
Staff are super friendly and really make your stay memorable.

We first spent a couple of hours in the National Gallery nearby then later, after the free glass of wine they gave us in the bar, walked North

The location was excellent - a stones throw from Trafalger square & national gallery, short walk to London Eye and nice walk from there to the houses of Parliament and big Ben.

The National Gallery is just around the corner.

One minute to Trafalgar square , National Gallery, theaters,museums , shopping, huge selection of restaurants - everything  is walking distance.

The hotel is walking distance to many major sights such as Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Covent Garden, London Eye, Big Ben, and China Town.

The hotel is ideally situation right next to Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery and other attractions.

We could walk to Trafalgar sq, national gallery, regents st, oxford st, somerset house and covent garden.

This hotel couldn’t be better placed for the national gallery Trafalgar Square or the ENO Adelphi or Garrick theatres.

In the area there are loads of restaurants and museums (national Gallery, Churchill War Rooms Museum etc).

Unfortunately we left an iPhone in the room on departure

Had to call every day for the minibar to be restocked.

The phone number goes to reservations, which is a central number for several hotels, so if reservations is closed - you are out of luck.

I booked for my sister’s wedding anniversary using groupon voucher, as soon as the booking went through, I received a call from Mrs Jackson who works for the hotel restaurant, she assisted me with the booking and made sure that our table for 18 people was reserved and followed up to check if I received all the details on my email.

Had to charge the phone across the room, 4) beds were up by housekeeping without sheets 5) headboard and closet were gouged by some person or animal,  I could forgive one or two of these indiscretions,

I rang them,one payment was our room, one was a pre authorisation

After ringing reception nothing was done about it.

I also don’t expect to have to ring the lobby to ask them to stock the complimentary minibar (which was empty upon arrival other than one bottle of gluten free lager and no bottle opener).

A few onions rings finished off the dish.

This went on for several weeks speaking to Ruben, Anca, Barbara , all apologising and promising non existed call backs, even an email to Neil Gallagher of GLH Hotels was ignored .

On Monday morning it took 4 calls from us to room service and reception to have someone phone us back 30 mins later.

We only realised this when we got on the train and went to change a phone.

although on calling housekeeping to ask they said we didn't qualify for snacks?

but we ending up having to personally ring the credit card company ourselves to try and sort this out.

The furnishings aren't what I would call luxury,

They rang me to tell me when the room was ready and looked after our bags.

When making a reservation, make sure to call the hotel directly.

Breakfast - the balcony in the main dining room has a nice view to the street.

Our room was #628--an executive king room that I had requested---with a view of the street (Strand) below.

The other had a street view which was OK.

The lounge is lovely for breakfast or afternoon wine/tea.

Food was terrific in the hotel from the lounge to the restaurant to the bar.

She told me she discovered the mouse as well and they contacted Rentokil and do a deep clean of the lounge.

We had access to the lounge/club area, which was very nice.

We booked the executive twin which included the lounge which was ideal for drinks and nibbles on our way out in the evening.

The room was great, the lounge was good and breakfast was a treat!

Nice touch that the minibar was free😊 and you could get free drinks and snacks in the lounge during the day.

We did get breakfast with our room so we were able to use the lounge which was quite nice.

Breakfast either in the lounge or the dining room was also quite nice with a mix of hot/cold dishes to choose from along with fresh fruit, coffee and tea.

The lounge was beautiful and the service was impeccable.

Diana in the lounge was wonderful and very helpful, always with a smile on her face.

We also had access to the lounge for breakfast

There was a free mini-bar and we had access to the lounge which, from 12.00 to 19.00 offered free drinks and nibbles in a lovely setting.

The lounge was staffed by wonderful employees who not only welcomed us for breakfast and afternoon drinks,

Diane, who was in charge of the lounge went out of her way to get us what we needed, something we didn't expect based on our experience with other hotels in London.

Diana or Roxana made our frequent visits to the lounge so enjoyable.

Very hospitable people, especially Diana in the Lounge.

Front desk and concierge service was excellent helping with storing luggage, loaning umbrellas and even giving us access to the lounge while waiting to go to the train station.

The room is well appointed and breakfast in the lounge is included and well done.

We were exposed in our daily schedule to the breakfast team, the lounge team and to the CONCIERGE team.

All the staff were friendly and polite, the choices for the buffet breakfast were extensive, I enjoyed some of my late afternoons in the bar, the bed was comfortable and the delicious piece of cake waiting in my room upon arrival was a nice touch.

We appreciated the personal touches like the welcome card and the daily restocking of free drinks in the mini fridge.

Check in was easy, we were given a couple of free drinks tokens, great touch.

Room clean and the free minibar is a nice touch.

The selection of complimentary drinks in the mini bar was a very nice touch.

Extra little touches including snacks, coffee machine and mini bar.

It was our anniversary and they made our stay very welcoming we had a beautiful greeting in our room with a celebration cake which was a very warm welcome personal touch

Made it a special time as it was my husband’s birthday which was that extra touch.

Everything about this hotel is great - location, food, cleanliness and the complimentary mini-bar was an added unexpected touch.

Tokens given for a free drink each is a nice touch.

Our room 508   was large; full of natural light with a  very modern feel there was also a cake and card wishing us the best for our anniversary .These little personal touches   show how much the hotel appreciates their guests.

A lovely stay at the Claremont, from Reception, (David) to room service, to the bar staff and conceirge - friendly helpful and polite

Great locatioon too for NPG Trafalgar sq, Covent garden and of course the Main line and underground station

Staff were very friendly, service superb, free drinks token also given for the first drink in the bar on the hotel, a really nice touch, thoughtful and the hotel really is well presented .

Little touches that make a huge difference.

Memorable Moment was they remembered it was my husbands birthday and the cake and wine was a lovely touch so a massive thanks.

There is a mini bar in the room all of which is complementary, which was a lovely touch.

We got to the room and they had put a beautiful piece of cake and a birthday message the little touches mean the most beautiful room stunning hotel would definitely recommend to others

Location was perfect within easy walking distance of major London sites including Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Millennium Bridge, and Covent Garden.

Central location easily walkable to Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and theatres.

We explored the area on foot and found it was an easy stroll to Trafalgar Square, The Strand, Covent Garden, Westminster, and a short hop over the bridge to the Southbank.

Fantastic 5 star hotel in the heart of London close to all the main attractions such as the mall, Covent Garden, Westminster etc.

Close to Trafalgar, Leicester Square and Covent garden.

The hotel is in an amazing location, so close to all the London landmarks, Covent Garden etc.

The hotel is very central for Covent Garden on an evening and we also walked up to the Tower of London along the river bank.

This hotel is ideally place in heart of central London within walking distance of Covent Garden and minutes from Embankment.

Fabulous location for tube, Covent Garden etc.

Fantastic location with easy access to London's attractions such as Westminster abbey, houses of parliament, Trafalgar Square, Covent garden and theatre land.

It is centrally based and only a 12 minute walk to Covent Garden.

The hotel is very conveniently placed within easy walking distance of The Strand, Covent Garden etc.. and exudes old world charm with a modern touch.

It is a lovely building in a great location, near to Embankment Tube Station and only minutes on foot to Trafalgar Square, Pall Mall & Covent Garden.

The location is exceptional: Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Covent Garden, London Eye are all within a 5 minute walk radius and the Embankment Underground Station is literally around the corner.

Walking through the Embarkment Gardens to Covent Garden Area was a real treat.

So near to Embankment station and within walking distance to theatres and Covent garden.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to the theatres, Covent Garden and the Christmas Market by theThames.

Not far from covent garden and also a tube ride away if you have booked a show this is an ideal location.

The hotel is in a great location for visiting the well known landmarks like the Houses of Parliament and is a easy stroll from the Strand, Trafalgar square and Covent Garden.

The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful as well - especially the concierges / bellhops.

When we arrived we was greated by some friendly staff on front of house.

The locaton is very good and the personell was very good  friendly and always very helpful in every moment when  asking for help.

As stated earlier our room attendants were fantastic, turn down service was great and they were all friendly.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and our room had the most amazing views in our upgraded room, so central to things in London for us ideal.

Firstly our reception was perfect - very friendly and helpful lady on reception who couldn’t have been more accommodating.

Hotel is cozy, friendly and highly recommended.

It is an easy walk to the National Gallery & Picadilly.

I booked one night here as a present for my wife as we were visiting the National Gallery.

It was also easy to get to the National Gallery/Trafalgar Square and the Embankment tube station.

Walking distance to the British National Gallery, British Museum etc.

It’s about a five minute walk to Trafalgar Square and the national Gallery.

National Gallery, St. James Park, Trafalgar Square, ecc.

We had a lovely time visiting the London sights, enjoyed a walking tour, river cruise, shopping and also visited the National Gallery.

I asked the way to Natural History Museum, she pointed out directions to National Gallery!

A very nice hotel with attentive staff located within minutes walk of Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, and steps from the Embankment Tube Stop.

The hotel is perfect for visiting the National Gallery, Westminster Abbey, London Eye and various theatres.

but not great as did not tell us basics like when & where was breakfast, i rang up & asked if the breakfast was on earlier due to marathon told no but came down to find people had eaten earlier so it was.

There was no phone service from your room to the front desk or room service.The front door staff get kudos for extra effort in getting taxis. .

However, the rooms offered were absolutely substandard: old fashioned, blackened windows without natural sunlight & outdated equipment (charging station for iPhone 4 or older instead of one or two USB charging slots for non UK travelers).

At this point we call British Air - they get the hotel to confirm we HAD booked a king deluxe…and that the hotel could not actually guarantee that at any point in the week would get the room we’d reserved and confirmed.

The room was fairly old in decor and wiring - no USB sockets and an original iPhone 1-3 charging dock.

Breakfast arrived to my room eventually after 2 phone calls to reception.

but surely not a big deal?- we'll just phone reception and ask them to bring one up asap, explaining our time constraint.

In addition service times to telephone calls both internal and external need review.

The only failing was our coffee machine did not work and despite it being reported an hour and a half passed and still no one came to replace it, upon a second call it was sorted.

It took a while to get through to reception via the phone the day before our arrival so that could be improved upon.

No responce from mail/web form or phone. Terrible.

No shampoo we had to go and ask someone as Front Desk did not pick up the telephone.

We waited 30 more minutes for a call back before they agreed to send tea and coffee up.

Due to the dreadful views at the back it blocked the wifi signal so our phones could not connect to a Wi-Fi system.

What good is room service if no one picks up the phone, and the lateness of our room certainly did not get our holiday off to a good start.

It was just very dated, not what you'd expect for a hotel calling itself 5*, if you've ever stayed in a "Best Western" hotel, it's like that.

The tech in room didn’t have phone charging ports or the bathroom tv didn’t work

Twice for different things I tried to call reception and house keeping both just came back with no disturb on .

Our room was spacious, overlooking the street

We upgraded to Deluxe King room, the view was onto the street, which we  didn’t mind at all, the room size was adequate, the bed was very comfortable.

We had the street view facing the Corinthia—a very attractive building—and the room was quiet.

Located in an impressive historic building near the Thames and bordering the Whitehall Gardens near everything, our stay here for our last two nights in London were memorable.

Centrally located in Whitehall it is a short walk to Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Household Cavalry Barracks/Museum, Covent Gardens, Trafalgar Square, and many more neighborhoods and historic sites.

Location excellent - close to Whitehall; Westminster and Embankment tube.

Great location for Whitehall and sightseeing around central London.

Stunning building nestled within the backstreets of Whitehall overlooking the Thames.

Great location close to Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.

Just off Whitehall and with riverside rooms offering wonderful views across the Thames towards the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Theatre land, indeed most attractions are within comfortable walking distance.

5 mins walk to Whitehall and Downing Street and onward to St James Park .

Our room was large with a very comfortable superking size bed & as it faced Whitehall Court it was very quiet.

Location is excellent, on the Thames and 1 minute walk through to Whitehall then up to Trafalgar Sq or Westminster.

Fabulous location right in the heart of Whitehall and 10 minutes from Trafalgar Sq/West End attractions.

In the area of the hotel, you have Whitehall, Royal Horseguards, 10 Downing Street and Westminster, so it’s really a quiet and safe place.

As others have mentioned, the hotel is an easy walk to many attractions, including Westminster Abbey, Churchill War Rooms, Horse Guards Parade and Inigo Jones' Whitehall Banqueting House.

20 mins to the theatre and the West End as well as all the attractions of the South Bank and Parliament and Whitehall.

It's tucked away on Whitehall Court where as The Rubens is right on the Buckingham Palace Road.
