The hotel does not have air conditioning, the small tilting windows barely open, so the room temperature is so hot that sleeping is difficult.

but had the window open and a fan was provided.

There is no air conditioning which is disappointing for what we paid for a superior room.

Why not give the rooms overlooking the road A/C.

On this visit the temperature outside was 34 degrees and the bedroom felt even hotter as there is no A/con in the hotel and when I enquired if fans where available for the bedrooms I was told NO.

No A/c made it a very stifling room and meant little or no sleep.

The room (407) was easily the stuffiest sweat box I’ve experienced, with no aircon or ventilation (the window didn’t open at all), and made worse by the small minibar, which just kicked out even more heat.

There was some noise outside our room from another guest which kept my boyfriend awake (not me!

The only other thing I would mention (typical of any city centre hotel) was the noise.

I had to shut the window as I couldn't sleep from all the street noise.

but with the window open, you hear EVERYTHING.

The Bathroom was dirty, the noise from the street was all night and the reception team were unhelpful.

It involved assembling something metal so clashes & bangs went on for hours and then a generator started around 5am.

The noise of buses, traffic people wheeling their suitcases and shouting went on to well after 1am.

The rooms do not have air conditioning and the only way to sleep is with the window open, letting all the noise in.

The room was a bit warm, so I slept with the window open and was woken by the sound of the bin lorry.

Also as on main road, the hotel was quite noisy at night.

It starts at the front desk with reception staff who could;t be bothered , slow elevators, pathetic internet service, dirty rooms, hard beds and pillows, noisy backdrop, and everyday noise from other roooms.

A busy thoroughfare outside and, with the window open slightly to give some air, we could hear late night revellers and early morning street-cleaning machines.

We had two single beds which were uncomfortable and also no air conditioning so the room was stuffy particularly at night as if you had the window open, the main road traffic was too loud.

So as the weather was a scorcher we couldn't have the window open as it was too noisy outside.

We were told that no rooms were available (something contradicted by their website, which was still showing available rooms) and that a staff member was going to go and tell them to be quiet.

First time I have seen earplugs supplied as a toiletry.

If parking your car, contact the hotel to get directions before you arrive, took us 1hr 30 to find it due to busy traffic.

Excellent check in we found the room spotlessly clean and well maintained.

My room was very clean and I was pleased that it had a bathtub as well as a shower - perfect for a relaxing soak after a difficult journey to get there!

When I got up at 10am there was no hot water.

The shower temperature was boiling hot then freezing cold no matter which way the tap was turned.

Mini bar in room has no price list, a couple of bottles of water free of charge would be nice considering the stifling heat in the rooms and corridors.

When I arrived at night, no water was there.

In the morning at 7am there was still no water.

The bath plug didn't work so any water you ran, quickly disappeared.

The only (and important) low light were the empty Coca-Cola cans in the mini-fridge containing cigarette ashes in it and the bottle of waters which were opened and refilled with unknown water.

however, complementary bottled water in the room.

When I let the water out of the bath (without having been brave enough to get into it) there was a brown scum all over the bath.

Reception told us that the hot water needed to make its way up to the 4th floor.

I did help myself to a 500ml bottle of mineral water at €2.50 because it was late and I was feeling too lazy to find a place that sold water on the high street - there is a supermarket not very far away where you can purchase water though.

Tap to switch the water to the shower was very stiff and the toilet could have done with a clean as it was badly stained.

but our hotel room was not ready for us until 3.30 pm and then with no kettle, only one towel between two of us and was boiling hot!

Problem for us as everything in Lille closed down at 8 pm on Monday evening so we had to make do with water we had bought in the supermarket.

The bathroom was dated with the toilet cistern taking ages to refill and the water coming from the shower head was not very strong.

So we had the choice of boiling with the windows closed or lying awake with the windows open.

however we went and discovered no milk and cold water.

The only downsides we found to this hotel was that the room was very hot, even with the widows open at night and the curtains kept closed during the day.

It was a warm day and we had to keep the window open.

Very loud with windows open for sleeping, unbearable with them shut due to the excessive heat.

Rooms are anonymous and the windows cannot be opened.

Bit stuffy no air con window was a god send.

Even opening the window wide on our 6th floor room did not help at night,

One or two small issues in the room, the TV remote needs a good clean and the window surround could stand repair

I don't think opening the windows would help much during Summers.

but can be very noisy during the early hours of the morning.It has no air conditioning so we have to open the window to get fresh air therefore hearing all the outside noise.However,the following morning,we asked if we could hire a fan and was given one by one of the very amiable staff.This solved the noise problem.

I travelled solo and got a very small room with double bed.

Our biggest issue was that on booking the hotel we specifically checked it had air-conditioning.

Air conditioning was poor and in my room (not colleagues) the window could only be opened partially.

The air con only seemed to have heat not cooling at night, and the room was stuffy.

Another downside is the airconditioning, it's wasn't airconditioning it was just blowing air around.

Air conditioning works and you can even open the windows.

but bed tucked away around corner in room not getting full benefit of air conditioning.

The air conditioning did not cool anything - even when set at maximum - no point in opening a window, as the room is overlooked by an office block a few metres away.

However, they could not even supply a fan.

Maybe we should not have  mentioned then that it was very warm in the room: we were told that the airconditioning will not be turned on till June 1 - it is just your bad luck that the weather sometimes ignores the calendar date.

By far the worst problem was the noise of some sort of machinery (not the room central heating system) running continuously, all night, near the room.

but like other hotels they only switch the air con on when its summer days.

Breakfast was a little disappointing and the air conditioning was not very effective.

My only negative comment is the air conditioning is inadequate and as our room was on the front having the windows open was not an option so it didn't offer the best night sleep as the room was very warm.

The hotel was under renovation which wasn't advertised on the app when booked nor advised after booking, whilst the disruption was limited to reception, bar and courtyard areas, the smell from that area was less than pleasant,

The lobby elevator area & the bathrooms had a foul odour at times - I know that is to be expected in old cities

Our only criticism was that the drain in the bathroom was really smelly.

It smelled of dusty carpet and stagnant water.

Nice rooms, the only complaint is that the bathrooms had an unpleasant smell.

The sink gave off a most unpleasant smell whenever water went down the plughole.

We didn't really like that the staff use the front of the hotel to smoke having to walk through this to enter the hotel which wasn't a nice experience

Bathroom was a nightmare - the shower head (and ceiling) are so low, that I had to crouch down to get under the water - the towels were not re-folded by housekeeping (I did my best by re-using them) - and the incoming water smelled of sewerage.

Both the separate toilet and the bathroom smelt bad and the shower door didn't shut properly so leaked on the floor.

Did smell smoke on one night coming from somewhere and I would urge the hotel to be 100 percent non smoking.

Furthermore the hotel looked and smelt stale and old!

One thing worth knowing that the city does smell of sewage.

Otherwise, you have to park in the Nouveau Siecle car park which is a bit of a pig to access, smells like a men’s toilet that hasn’t been cleaned in a year and is quite a walk from the hotel.

One couple decided they wanted to change to a smoking room and were easily changed from a 1st floor to a 6th floor room, no fuss.

The bathroom was very small, the couch uncomfortable and also dirty, the towels had stains (I do not want to know from what or from whom), the sink did not smell ok and neither did the toilet (urine).

but the cooked items could have been better, the scrambled eggs (only type availa) are powder and disgusting.

The hotel is also completely none smoking.

Shower in the bathroom was full of black stains and looked as if it had been repaired with some sort of yellow glue .

VERY dissatisfied and dissapointed by my stay at this hotel 18-20th oct Beds were awful two nights of NO sleep, no ac or fan room very stuffy, floor not cleaned at all with dirt and body hairs everywhere shower barely worked and leaked out over side flooding floor l, towels very small and very thin.

There was a mouthwash sample giveaway placed in the shower room, mine was already opened.

The room we stayed in was what can only be described as a little tired, and if you are bigger than 30" waist you will struggle to get in the shower.

- rubbish and dust on the floor & under the bed
- Black mould on the shower curtain
- Black mould in the grouting
- Black mould/ grime/ dust all around the walls & floor of the bathroom 
- stains all over the walls & doors
- hairs on the toilet seat 
- broken bathroom door handle
- the stench of stale cigarettes mingled with damp

I refused to stay and the receptionist did her best to help, as - regardless of the disgusting room- we had booked a room which we had not been given and were this entitled to be ready- roomed.

but there was a concerning lack of cleanliness; there was a hairpin on the bathroom floor when I arrived and it was still in the same place when I left two days later, so it was clearly not cleaned at all while I was there.

Dirt everywhere on the ground and mildew on the wall was just ovrrpainted.

The bathroom was ok, not really inviting and nothing to guard the end of the shower which meant the floor was very very wet right to the door!

although the shower head was a little close to the side wall.

However, there was no cubicle for the shower, just one open space which meant that the floor got wet up to the entrance door which wasn't particularly good.

The only criticism is that the showers need modernising as they are extremely small, with a badly fitting curtain.

No ac, pretty basic breakfast, super small rooms, they are not as good as in Germany (for example), super small shower.

The layout of the room meant that you were required you to wheel your bags into the bathroom as you could not get between the door and the bed.

It would have been good if there had been a little outside area for smokers with a chair to sit.
