I love the breakfast bufffet and the little bar.

All encountered, reception, cleaning team, breakfast staff and bar were all extremely friendly,welcoming and helpful.

Breakfast the following morning was great, too, with a lovely assortment of breads, cereals, hot and cold dishes, as well as freshly squeezed orange juice.

Breakfast was very good with lots of choices and you could cook your own egg.

Rooms are large and very comfortable, the buffet very generous and the staff always very helpfull!

With regards to F&B, the breakfast was good, with plenty of options available and decent coffee, and the eating area is pleasant and well lit.

They provide a very varied breakfast in a comfortable breakfast room with other catering facilities we didn't take advantage of.

One great thing we remember from previous visits was the excellent breakfast.

However, the rooms are small and during hot weather, the airconditioning struggles to work.

I travelled solo and got a very small room with double bed.

We stayed for one night and found the property to be exactly as described with lovely spacious rooms, an excellent breakfast and helpful staff.

The buffet breakfast was good, squeeze your own fresh orange juice, heat your own crepes, pancakes and French toast!

We had a fantastic breakfast the next day which saw us on our way back to Birmingham.

Breakfast and service excellent too, and has a good sized swimming pool and spa.

Breakfast is great - fresh baguettes, waffles, freshly squeezed juice.. all you need really.

but said they had an issue refunding the credit card and therefore requested bank details (which were supplied).

They charge 30 Euros for this dangerous service that can actually deeply damage your car.

It turned up 7 hours later, opened and served to my friends without me even being present, then it was charged to my room.

A quite excessive charge for what could simply be a goodwill gesture.

But then tried to charge me 24€ to send it; scrambled eggs at breakfast not very nice

but i was charged 42 Euros for two gin and tonics (chose a cheap gin as well).

The extra charge of € 23, = a person for scrambled eggs made of egg powder, burned bacon, cold eggs in the water and bad coffee served didn’t fit our expectations in this class of hotel.

The only downside is that we were overcharged by upwards of €100 at checkout.

but when i did the checkouts , they have charged us €46 euros per day extra!

Check out ok, only had to ask the Hotel to remove the high speed internet charge.

(The only reason not to allocate 5 stars to this lovely hotel is that the breakfast, for which there is an additional charge, was very uninspired - pre-cooked scrambled eggs in a warmer are not what one expects of a 5* property - grab a coffee in your room and go out for breakfast!)

Bit surprised to be charged E60 for the privilege!

We have never experienced that at Marriott properties, so it was an unexpected additional charge.

On the second day, both of our room cards didn't work due to no fault of our own.

It turned out that the system needed repair and we weren't charged for it when we checked out, which was generous and right,

I suppose it should have since I was billed 8 EUR for that coffee.

but have read from other reviews that the hotel charges €25 entry fee for the pool, there is no gym here disappointingly.

However, what was EXTRAORDINARY about this hotel, and the reason for the average award, was that the swimming pool entry was charged at 25e per person.

I am a big Marriott fan - I was for a time, when I was working, a Platinum Rewards Card holder -

I'm not sure why hotels of this calibre seek to rip you off with their wifi charges.

We paid quite a lot for it - perhaps heightened demand because of the World Cup.

If we were unable to attend for any other reason, the costs would obviously be borne by us.

Reasonably priced and not overly expensive either.

but not outstanding and rather expensive for Lille standards, although it would have been far more expensive in Paris.

though I think the treatments were a bit overpriced.

but 30 Euro per night to park is expensive.

Not cheap, at around Euro 340 for a superior room for a night,

though the bar prices are a little eye watering.

The only problem I would have was the high price of breakfast especially for what was available, I would not have had breakfast if I didn't get it automatically.

First they denied having it, then when I offered to pay the postage to send it to me they said they'd found it.

The bar prices are expensive and the choice of background music is twee - Frank Sinatra singing “I’m getting married in the morning”.

The price of a beer in the lounge is ridiculous.

The parking was an extra € 30, = and the dog cost us an extra € 25, =.

We would tend to agree the bar prices are rather expensive

They knocked off one of the breakfast costs, which I guess was something.

We opted for breakfast and there was plenty of choice for the buffet with freshly squeezed orange juice - made my morning!

Breakfast room service selection was very good.

The bar area was very nice in the evening and the breakfast for a fee was excellent and well worth the price.

We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on breakfast or dinner.

A generous continental breakfast was served downstairs and from there the main attractions and restaurants were in easy walking distance.

The breakfast was great - very fresh and a wide variety.

Relaxed and really helpful staff, lovely breakfast given the price and really like the scheme to get a free drink if you forego housekeeping as well as the eco-friendly toiletries.

Clean room, good breakfast choices and very helpful staff in both reception and dining room.

The breakfast buffet was varied and ample.

Special thanks to the barman Nathan for making things especially lovely with his cocktail creations which were delicious.

I wouldn't bother with breakfast, there is a coffee shop serving pastries nearby and would recommend this instead.

Car park - not the best car park, really smells of urine!

The shower water wouldn’t drain away which meant we had to keep stopping the shower otherwise it overflowed onto the bathroom floor.

This means (as a non smoker) it’s very unpleasant to be in or near the restaurant and therefore it also drifts into the reception area too.

Have read recent reviews which talk about a sewerage kind of smell , and yes we smelt it outside (certainly not inside)

Entire lobby/breakfast area smelled like cigarettes.

I also felt that they have changed their toiletries to cheaper brand very strong smelling honey fragrance not the l'occitan ones they used to use.

The music and outside smoking area were constantly noisy until around 2am and as the aircon was not working we had no choice

The smell can be found all over the city centre.

Previous reviewers mentioned the smell of drains in the lift.

The smell did also seep into the roo a little - not great.

Fortunately the smell did not extend to the room!

The smell was awful, and the taste even worse.

In addition, they have a covered patio as well where you can take breakfast as well as a seating area in front of the hotel where people can take a drink or smoke.

The sausages were rock hard, the croissants had a stale taste to them as if they had been left out for a long time.

but quite nicely done out with features such as a bath with LED edge illumination, hair dryer and an unusual basin with no plug hole but a flat surface sloping gently away to a drainage channel at the rear.

However the smell was not evident inside the hotel.

The bathroom was design led rather than practical, the side of the bath was very high and there was no shower curtain/screen so the water ran onto the floor, hence the skirting boards were rotting, the sink had no plug or anyway to retain water.The minibar didnt work and we reported this every day, also one bedside light didnt work and wasnt fixed during our stay.

Room heating was not manageable and window was a challenge to open.

Coffee machine and airconditioning were broken.

It was also very warm and as the room we had wasn't air conditioned it was a little uncomfortable despite a fan.

It has a glass roof over the main areas yet no air conditioning!

Once it was on, it certainly cooled the room down.

This means that the hotel is very hot when the sun shines and there are many fans dotted around

The AC didn't work after the first day, fortunately, the weather cooled off at night.

but too stuffy to be inside the bar area.

I traveled with my Mother who is blind in one eye and on being shown an interior room which was small and dark and very humid we were moved to an exterior room that was much better.

Rooms are clean, dark due to the small monastery windows and have no air conditioning.

This heat is passed onto the inward facing rooms and whilst we cooled our rooms down with the air conditioning we had to turn it off when trying to sleep due to its slight noise .The residual heat from the central area then heats the room back up again and it made our sleep difficult.

though large, also lacked convenient shelving space and the towels had to dry above a cold and very basic radiator – no towel radiator.

Room had no drawer units for clothes which I thought a bit odd for a 4*

In our room, the safe didn’t work; the shower over the bath and under the eaves is difficult for the petite to step into and for the tall to stand under; there was no air-con,

however when we arrived in the room I was a little disappointed; it was rather small, the furnishings were tired and there was no air conditioning (much needed on a warm day).

Room i had was on 3rd floor attic and was quite small, no air con,

This is an old convent that is beautifully converted to a hotel with great rooms, a delicious breakfast, and friendly staff.

It is a gorgeous space, full of light, very nice rooms and an excellent breakfast.

But the rate on my third day was €400, pretty much double the rate for the first night.

Should not have to do this in a hotel charge premium prices for the rugby.

Could not provide an efficient service during the braderie and put a disco in the courtyard which is not conducive when you are trying to sleep and have paid a lot of money for the room!

but it could be the going rates for hotel parking these days.

We had a rental car and parked at the hotel for a significant parking fee after finding our way through a maze of one-way streets to get there; much easier to reach on foot.

The bar and restaurant are good if a little overpriced

Considering the room rates at the hotel are around €300 a night I'm glad we got it for less than £100 as I would have been very disappointed at full price.

but at 140 euro plus drinks we felt was expensive.

Food was appalling, lift out of action, drinks extremely expensive.

€22 for a cold continental offering seems out of all proportion to the price of the dinner.

We also felt that the menu was rather limited and also quite expensive as is breakfast which is in addition to the cost of the room (€19).

On our limited budget it was too expensive to eat and drink in the hotel every night,

A good night's sleep was needed and we were will to pay for comfort, on this occasion we left tired, bitten and disappointed.

This is an expensive place, drinks and food are pricey as is breakfast which was not included, Parking available at a surcharge.

Finishing on a positive, breakfast was really good.

Breakfast was good with number of selections to appease all.

Breakfast was very good with a decent selection of hot and cold items.

Breakfast buffet is very good with lots of choice.

We were subjected to staff argument in breakfast room and outside our room regarding overwork and understaffing.

The scrambled eggs were exceptional and the best I have ever had in a hotel.

Very comfortable bed and pillows, and a decent breakfast.

Good tasty breakfast as well so really nice place to stay in a lovely city.

The rooms are clean and quiet even with big roads both sides, breakfast is delicious and the staff helpful.

My main complaint was that the gym was in poor shape, with no treadmill as pictured on the ihg website (an elliptical trainer instead) and the multi function weight machine was damaged and not fully usable.

Rooms were VERY hot overnight and "air con" practically non-existent so very poor night's sleep.

Though the rooms are poor and give an old-fashioned impression.

Lobby is a bit shoddy, bar is dated and with poor service, hallways need a face-lift, rooms clean

The gym was poor and i would recommend to use the near by gym in the shopping centre !

but i have marked the hotel down  over the Sunday morning breakfast The selection was very poor & not a patch on our previous experience in the week The waitress on duty was more interested in talking to her friend & we had to go & find her & wait until she had finished talkijng to ask her could we please have some coffee Are you only interested in business men on accounts?

The air conditioning was very poor (certainly not 4 star standard) and it was not possible to cool the room enough so slept very badly.

The poor side: it seems, as if many things came together during my stay.

We went to breakfast right at the end and there was a very poor selection of cooked food,

but no reply was ever received therefore a poor rating given.

The buffet breakfast food was poor to say the least.

Service is poor: my collegues spent 2 days and the room was not cleaned the 2nd day.

but the carpet had a huge coffee stain next to the bed, the shower didn't spray until day 2 and even then was a poor effort, the hairdryer was a very small low power one.

but, as strange as that might seem, the room service is quite poor (not much choice and not very interesting).

Checkin was fast and without any problems, despite my poor French.

Breakfast the following morning was in the same room and suffered from a poor selection and no service from the staff.

but the service and quality of food in town (particularly for lunches) were poor.

Its pretty expensive to park overnight and there is no.

But no hotel parking so have to pay station underground parking 27€ per 24hours.. factor that into price.

Not worth the 15 EUR charge (or in my case 12 EUR rate premium).

the car park was great, a little on the expensive side

It was pretty expensive at 171 euro's too.
