The hotel is situated in a class A plus plus location, it's clean, well maintained, ha a s fantastic kitchen, friendly stuff and is not too expensive.

You can drive to Sarah Bernhardt's seaside cottage, the charming village of Sauzon, with several good cafes (try Le Cafe) and very friendly people, a nearby creperie, Creperie au Coton (quite good) and lovely beaches all around the island.

Make sure to get a room overlooking the ocean.Staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed there for the Easter weekend, staff are very friendly and tried their best to fulfill our needs, especially when we requested a vegetarian meal for dinner and when I twisted my ankle.

The view from the breakfast room and the terrace was fabulous, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Never caught without a smile, they also are very human in their exchanges with the clientele.

Hopefully the hotel will improve its service to paying guests going forward.

During our stay, half board menu was offered for dinner as long as you were hotel guests (even if you were not on a half-board plan) and it was offered to anybody (even non hotel guests) for lunch.

Leave your car in Quiberon, we did not this time and paid that ridiculous price of 340,- just for the car.

Views are spectacular, I would have paid more for an ocean facing room,

but we discovered much better food at lower prices in Sauzon especially.

It is expensive and worse still, there is little or no choice on the menu.

More unconvenient, we have found food offerings well overpriced and not diversified enough.

Motorists will find themselves wondering why their half-hour ferry crossing has cost them about  £300 for a car plus two passengers.

So since breakfast is not included, we decided not to spend the 9 Euros and instead had quite a feast at the little store for half the price.

The concierge staff was pleasant and very helpful.

First the people, very professional and always willing to go out of their way to help with the most mondain details.

but we could enjoy the swimming pool, a nice diner, a great breakfast and we found all the staff very helpful and smiling.

The ambient was very nice and the waiter was very kind.

The view is fantastisk, service is great and flavuored with personality touch.

but there are no ties for the drapes to prevent them from blowing out the windows in the wind.

Be careful of the parasols ours blew over in the breeze,luckily no one was hurt and only water was spilt.

- Lunch menu, drinks and other extras in general were quite expensive
- While we can't blame Castel Clara for the hottest July on the Belle-Île since 1951, it's a fact that the absence of air conditioning in the rooms really spoiled the overall experience.

but the shower was weak and you had to climb in and out of the bath, not ideal.

The toilet room was so small that you could not shut the door unless you squeezed in and turned around.My husband is 6ft, so his knees hit the door.

Three things to keep in mind:  The amenities are not provided in miniature containers in 
order to reduce waste.

The staff were without exception very friendly and helpful.

This was a bad start to what was otherwise an enjoyable  stay: the food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent and of particular note was the friendly cheerful and efficient staff throughout the hotel from chamber maid to breakfast staff to dinner waiters and waitresses .

The place was super dog friendly and despite that ther were other dogs in the hotel, this never caused our Aussie any problems.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay with friendly (English-speaking) service, the only thing to note is that it's a 10-minute walk from the town centre

The rooms are delightfully decadent, spacious and tastefully decorated befitting this 1500s citadel (tip: ask for a sea view), the staff incredibly friendly and helpful.

At the hotel, we were informed that our room still wasn't ready and they would call us.

The place is not without it's challenges: wifi only in lobby, iffy cell reception, no tv.

we were there for 2 nights and after the first night we left the room at 10 AM, we came back at 5 PM and the room was not made as new, we had to call to have someone to come over and clean it.

A total 5 star experience - How special to get to stay a week tucked up in a fortress in luxurious historical surroundings - nothing was too much trouble the staff were very accommodating and discreet, the restaurant  (The Captains Table )had amazing food, excellent service and beautiful surroundings, and not too badly priced for an upmarket French restaurant.

Finally the staff are friendly and helpful, with a local's pride in their home.

but their colleagues on reception, while efficient and polite, lacked the friendly approach we found elsewhere on the island.

It was our second time in this hotel and we particularly appreciated the good and friendly service of the staff.

First for the view: the hotel sits on a point above the port of Sauzon and is sited to look straight down the jagged coastline of tiny bays with black rocks sheering out of the water beneath emerald green bush.

It was on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator.

It was a pity the bar closed so early in the evenings and some rooms require a lot of stairs (there is no lift! ).

We explored the island on foot, we lounged in the garden on deck chairs while Perrine fed us ice cream.

We decided to take them up on the offer on our last night and were really pleased we did so.

As soon as we arrived we were welcomed and told to make ourselves at home in the beautiful and large garden.

but bears no resemblance to the one advertised on the hotel's website.

After about 15 minutes and having almost finished my drink I was confronted by a member of staff and publicly admonished for drinking at a table that was set for dinner.

The staff is very friendly, they are all islanders and work all over the year, because the wild Belle-Ile is even more beautiful in winter than in the high summer season! (--)

I pointed out that I had not disturbed the table, I was a resident and that as yet no customers had arrived for dinner.

although the view of the port is nice, the ferry alone makes it noisy.

The wifi didn't work the entire time I was there (my guess would be that my room was out of range) and the whole room reeked of fish, whether the windows were opened or closed.

but rather a restaurant with rooms to let.

Not the greatest place if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room,

The staff were lovely at breakfast, and I found it to be great value.

On arrival our French 'greeting' was an abrupt confirmation of our surname and being informed that breakfast would cost an extra €9.
