Fabulous for fans of hotels with excellent bedding, a beautiful heated swimming pool, a "to die for" breakfast buffet.

Dinner is a real gastronomic experience - delicious seafood, steak and lamb and lovely touches like vegetable tart, apricot crumble and the very lightest soufflé.

The breakfast gateau pistache was so good, I went looking for a recipe to make at home - sure enough they’ve posted it on their blog!

but wished we had stayed at La Disirade for our entire trip. We went back to have breakfast there (best on the island!)

Great rooms, comfortable beds, a perfect host and services as well as an excellent breakfast and a marvellous restaurant. Perfection!

Breakfast is a real treat with a selection of fresh homemade cakes, pastries and yoghurts.

Breakfast is a standout, with a range of savoury and sweet local snacks.

We loved our room, the pool, the fantastic dinners, and the personal service.

The pool area and spa (with a jacuzzi), as well as the many sun beds dotted around the garden are perfect for relaxing with a book.

The pool area is lovely, a really tranquil haven.

The heated pool was warm and well maintained.

The pool is quite small, the gardens are nice (but you’ll have seen some as lovely) and the rooms, while charming, won’t be the most amazing you might have stayed in.

Had the weather improved we would have stayed for the rest of the vacation because the hotel is so peaceful with beautiful gardens and an outdoor pool.

The rooms are lovely, ours was set around the beautifully maintained swimming pool, and we were upgraded to a suite, as there were no double rooms available, given that we had not booked in advance.

Run by Pierre, Benedicte and family it is everything you need for a peaceful getaway.

Meals were amazing and room very homely and comfy.

This was the second time we have stayed at this wonderful hotel on Belle-Ile-en-Mer enjoying a full week of walking and fantastic food.

Beautiful hotel, welcoming staff, outstanding food - all evidence of the owners’ genuine love and care for Belle Ile and what they do.

When my kids were ages 4-12, I was able to send them to the restaurant for dinner by themselves, where they sampled a combination of a kids menu and, with Pierre's urging, sampled more exotic fare, like . fish.

The A la Carte restaurant must be out of this world.

We were greeted by a most friendly and helpful girl.

Heated swimming pool was relaxing, clean and very well maintained.

Our room, in a little traditionally designed cottage, was very comfortable, and the gardens well tended with a beautiful swimming pool.

The hotel is well equipped with a heated swimming pool (spotlessly clean) and the rooms are adequate, despite the fact that they have no sea views as the hotel is located inland by about 3Kms.

but there are no ties for the drapes to prevent them from blowing out the windows in the wind.

Be careful of the parasols ours blew over in the breeze,luckily no one was hurt and only water was spilt.

(special mention for the creative desserts, though)
- Lunch menu, drinks and other extras in general were quite expensive
- While we can't blame Castel Clara for the hottest July on the Belle-Île since 1951, it's a fact that the absence of air conditioning in the rooms really spoiled the overall experience.

but the shower was weak and you had to climb in and out of the bath, not ideal.

The toilet room was so small that you could not shut the door unless you squeezed in and turned around.My husband is 6ft, so his knees hit the door.

Three things to keep in mind:  The amenities are not provided in miniature containers in 
order to reduce waste.

This was a bad start to what was otherwise an enjoyable  stay: the food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent and of particular note was the friendly cheerful and efficient staff throughout the hotel from chamber maid to breakfast staff to dinner waiters and waitresses .

The scenic location and the great walks along the coast helped us to burn the calories we collected during the fabulous breakfast buffet (the local caramel and local pastries were divine) .

For our 1st stay in Belle Ile, we chose this hotel,

Most of the Thalasso I have visited lately already  have integrated light 400-600 calorie 3 course options into their menus (that taste delicious by the way).

Breakfast is massive and delicious, and our  evening meal at thier restaurant was memorable.

You have to decide between buffet or the menu.

we were staying in the suite Grand Large which is superb, and refurbished.

Nice surroundings and very relaxing, small nice villages.

but for me it is quite a lot especially if you plan to have a healthy time off and go to bed early feeling light. Nevertheless the food in the restaurant 360 was rather good and Desserts were really a piece of art that I had no choice, but to consume ;)

Nor did it allow for enough time to simple sit on the comfortable deck and just absorb the beautiful view and warm atmosphere.

Staff are friendly and professional, the classic style.

The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated.

Massages are wonderful, atmosphere so zen.

The staff was really friendly and helpful, and our kids loved.

but the hotel itself seemed a bit underwhelming for the price.

Also, in such an expensive and classy place, you do not expect to get soap and shower gel dispensers,

I can recommendstaying there and dine at the Le 180 restaurant.

Food excellent at gastronomic restaurant,

but the seafood platters offered on the deck in the restaurant were really excellent.

2. the Bar - we returned our cocktails which were undrinkable.

Excellent view, the staff is really nice and the restaurant is of really high quality.

Absolutely fantastic view and dinner venue, exquisite wine cellar, very friendly and service minded staff.

However, the room was right above one of its restaurants.

This one proudly announces that it's diners are between 800 and 1200 calories.

Few alternatives restaurants are within miles.

We found the gastronomique restaurant to be very fine.

Everything was great, the food ( especially the Cafe Clara formula at 42€ !)

The staff were without exception very friendly and helpful.

But there is another special feature for Castel Clara : staff is not only warmful, it's better than that.

The weather was great and we could dine with our dog on the terrace which was giving us a fantastic view over the little bay.

The room was really nice, and the kids had their own room upstairs (both of our rooms had ocean view).

If you are looking for a tranquil place in one of the most gorgeous coastal areas in Europe, your search is over.

You can go for a walk along the seashore on the cliff.

The location on the rugged coast of Belle Île is superb.

The view to all side of the hotel was once in a lifetime (ocean, coast and lighthouse).

Wonderful walks along the shore and spectacular sceneries a few minutes away from the hotel. A bit pricey, especially the breakfast (not included in the room rate.  )

Spectacular views from the "wild coast", just 50 meters from the hotel.

You can drive to Sarah Bernhardt's seaside cottage, the charming village of Sauzon, with several good cafes (try Le Cafe) and very friendly people, a nearby creperie, Creperie au Coton (quite good) and lovely beaches all around the island.

Belle ile en Mer is a lovely island off the coast of Brittany.

but no worries-they arranged a bicycle hire which came right to the hotel, and we biked the whole island easily, including the beaches.

The staff are friendly and professional, going out of their way to meet even the smallest demand.

The hotel is situated in a class A plus plus location, it's clean, well maintained, ha a s fantastic kitchen, friendly stuff and is not too expensive.

but the restaurant is without fault and the staff is very friendly for the most part.

Perfect to relax, fresh air, windy, great view, friendly staff, excellent location.

The reception was very friendly and efficient.

Liked the terrace with unique view (if weather permits) for lunch or sunset drinks, food incl .service above expectation, friendly and very helpful staff, very calm, rooms to the back are however small

Make sure to get a room overlooking the ocean.Staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed there for the Easter weekend, staff are very friendly and tried their best to fulfill our needs, especially when we requested a vegetarian meal for dinner and when I twisted my ankle.

The view from the breakfast room and the terrace was fabulous, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Never caught without a smile, they also are very human in their exchanges with the clientele.

Hopefully the hotel will improve its service to paying guests going forward.

During our stay, half board menu was offered for dinner as long as you were hotel guests (even if you were not on a half-board plan) and it was offered to anybody (even non hotel guests) for lunch.

Leave your car in Quiberon, we did not this time and paid that ridiculous price of 340,- just for the car.

Views are spectacular, I would have paid more for an ocean facing room,

but we discovered much better food at lower prices in Sauzon especially.

It is expensive and worse still, there is little or no choice on the menu.

More unconvenient, we have found food offerings well overpriced and not diversified enough.

Motorists will find themselves wondering why their half-hour ferry crossing has cost them about  £300 for a car plus two passengers.

So since breakfast is not included, we decided not to spend the 9 Euros and instead had quite a feast at the little store for half the price.

With a beautiful view of the sea from my room and the fresh ocean air blowing in, it was a restorative time away.

Our room was overlooking the sea and cost only €89 a night (yes, we negotiated a good rate as we were just off season).

Our room was fine, albeit a little small, and the breakfasts were good quality .

We were very happy with our stay in the family room, which proved to be spacious and very clean.

The staff were always so helpful (even picking the 5 of us up at the ferry since we came in late and didn't have a car) and the rooms were clean, large and bright with gorgeous views of the "wild coast".
