When we requested electric bikes or a lift to the airport, nothing was a problem.

the main roads  are narrow and drivers ignore speed limits invariably, luckily they are introducing a mobile radar on the island which should calm things up )  ( hotel bicycles are not of the greatest quality

The rooms are clean and very comfortable.

Spa is spotless (great hammam and sauna), breakfast is fabulous, and the rooms very clean and comfortable.

Lovely, quiet and really clean rooms, managed by a friendly staff that really cares about your well being.

The room was immaculate and well equipped with the one exception of no hair dryer.

Our room was clean and spacious, the hotel has an immaculate spa and outdoor hot-tub, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing.

It was on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator.

It was a pity the bar closed so early in the evenings and some rooms require a lot of stairs (there is no lift! ).

There was no elevator and we were not offered any help with our bags.

If you arrive early you can leave you luggage in a room up a steep flight of stairs, not ideal if your luggage is heavy.

The curtain could not close completely either.

although right at the top, and whilst we paid extra for the sea view it probably wasn't worth it, and the ferry starting at 4 in the morning was a bit disturbing with the windows open.

but there are no ties for the drapes to prevent them from blowing out the windows in the wind.

Be careful of the parasols ours blew over in the breeze,luckily no one was hurt and only water was spilt.

- Lunch menu, drinks and other extras in general were quite expensive
- While we can't blame Castel Clara for the hottest July on the Belle-Île since 1951, it's a fact that the absence of air conditioning in the rooms really spoiled the overall experience.

but the shower was weak and you had to climb in and out of the bath, not ideal.

The toilet room was so small that you could not shut the door unless you squeezed in and turned around.My husband is 6ft, so his knees hit the door.

Three things to keep in mind:  The amenities are not provided in miniature containers in 
order to reduce waste.

but the hotel itself seemed a bit underwhelming for the price.

Also, in such an expensive and classy place, you do not expect to get soap and shower gel dispensers,

though the weather was not always ideal, simply looking out of our window at Port Gopher was a delight.

As we had to keep the windows open and our room was just above the breakfast terrace (also used in the evening for the buffet dinner), we were ultimately denied of the absolute peace and quiteness we were expecting
- On departure there was a mistake on the bill (laundry service charged twice)

None of these issues in isolation would have stopped us from giving the top rating to Castel Clara,

Never caught without a smile, they also are very human in their exchanges with the clientele.

Hopefully the hotel will improve its service to paying guests going forward.

During our stay, half board menu was offered for dinner as long as you were hotel guests (even if you were not on a half-board plan) and it was offered to anybody (even non hotel guests) for lunch.

Leave your car in Quiberon, we did not this time and paid that ridiculous price of 340,- just for the car.

Views are spectacular, I would have paid more for an ocean facing room,

but we discovered much better food at lower prices in Sauzon especially.

It is expensive and worse still, there is little or no choice on the menu.

More unconvenient, we have found food offerings well overpriced and not diversified enough.

Motorists will find themselves wondering why their half-hour ferry crossing has cost them about  £300 for a car plus two passengers.

So since breakfast is not included, we decided not to spend the 9 Euros and instead had quite a feast at the little store for half the price.

Very clean rooms, fantastic location and views.

The staff were always so helpful (even picking the 5 of us up at the ferry since we came in late and didn't have a car) and the rooms were clean, large and bright with gorgeous views of the "wild coast".

We decided to take them up on the offer on our last night and were really pleased we did so.

Our room was immaculately clean with a comfortable bed and large ensuite bathroom.

but bears no resemblance to the one advertised on the hotel's website.

Our room was clean, spacious enough and the view from our terrasse had superb views of the sea.

Cons: our standard room looked dated and a little tired, without a single personal touch.

As for the bathrooms, any French chain hotel could do better: tiny cramped showers and a few thin towels.

First for the view: the hotel sits on a point above the port of Sauzon and is sited to look straight down the jagged coastline of tiny bays with black rocks sheering out of the water beneath emerald green bush.

but we opened the skylight and went out to eat.

There were 2 bedrooms separated by a small bathroom (Jack & Jill style).

If you have difficulty with stairs, I do not recommend it.

The only downside is that one of the bedroom did not have a window

Over priced, impression is that as one of only 2 hotels on the island, they do not need to made any effort in service or decor, the room was clean, basic

but the bar was closing, time approx 10:00pm ( had  one drink), on the morning of leaving had to get out through the fire exit as the door to the reception was locked ( were not advised of this, so had a slight panic.).

After about 15 minutes and having almost finished my drink I was confronted by a member of staff and publicly admonished for drinking at a table that was set for dinner.

I pointed out that I had not disturbed the table, I was a resident and that as yet no customers had arrived for dinner.

although the view of the port is nice, the ferry alone makes it noisy.

The wifi didn't work the entire time I was there (my guess would be that my room was out of range) and the whole room reeked of fish, whether the windows were opened or closed.

but rather a restaurant with rooms to let.

Not the greatest place if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room,

All the tables inside and outside were set for dinner except for two tables to my left and right where people were drinking.
