Very close location to metro and bus stations, good price/performance ratio.

One metro station is only 20 meters from the entrance, allowing for quick access all over the city.

Although this hotel is not in the main tourist areas we found that it suited us as it was right next to a Metro station to easily reach these areas and the airport.

There is a metro station called Campo Pequeno about 5 minutes away.

We chose it primarily because of its location - just 2 minutes walk from Campo Pequeno where we had tickets to see a favourite band.

A short block away on your right is Campo Pequeno where there is a market, several stores and MaxPay which offers the best rate when exchanging from USD to Euro.

Within quick walking distance to the Campo Pequeno metro.

Very close to metro (Campo Pequeno is closest), and there are frequent buses to central Lisbon a two minute walk away.

The hotel is not far from the airport and is located very close to a main metro line (Campo Pequeno) which was so convenient and safe to use.

This is a great location for Campo Pequeno and the Bullring.

The lifts are SLOW, they take an age to arrive and then the doors take ages to open on each floor!

Elevators were busy at certain times of the day so sometimes we had to wait for a couple to go by before one was free.

One thing I didn’t like was the elevator sometimes you have to wait longer than 5 minutes it was kinda frustrating.

Only fault of hotel is the lifts as they took ages to come to our level.

The only little inconvience were quite slow elevators.

My only complaint was that the elevators were extremely slow and there were no stairs, which would have been way faster!

Only minor gripes were inability to have only one sidelight on (both seemed they had to be either on or off) and rather slow lifts.

If passing the lift and seeing us approaching pushed the call

No welcome drink other than flavoured water in paper cup by the lift.

but there was never a hold up at the elevators.

Last comment, the three elevators seem not to be sufficient when  the hotel has high occupancy, they are slow and often full, so you have to wait for a few ones to pass by before you can gat in to get anywhere.

but don't explain where the elevators are, the pool, that the key needs to stay in the slot to have electricity, you should know everything.

Only we had to wait sometimes long for the lift.

but walkable and the metro is close and frequent, paying for the indoor pool was a surprise and the rooms close to the elevator a little noisy

the elevator was pretty slow, this is the only thing I would complain about.

though design of the rooms is a bit rough (too white.gray, no color). Note: hotel is on the "modern" (ugly) side of Lisbon, though there are basically no hiotels in old town and here is a superb metro (important: if you carry a heavy suitcase, leave at SALDANHA station, not Campo Pequeno, though the latter are simply stairs with no elevator)

A great stay at this magnificent classic hotel.

The hotel, located in a perfect area of Lisbon,  is a historical hotel.

If you enjoy traveling to well kept and maintained historical site, with an amazing team who only wants to make certain your experience is pleasant then you just found your home in Lisbon!

If you want historic, best location in the middle of everything, great views, great staff, this is the place.

The hotel is beautiful and historical, we had room 416 with a statue to the right of our window.

The location was perfect for visiting the sites of historic Lisbon.

This hotel had all the classic charm supplemented with all the modern touches the traveller of today requires including lots of chargers and a fully charged no cost I phone in your room to take out and about with you if required.

The Avenida location within historic Lisbon is the best.

We chose Hotel Avenida Palace because we are very fond of historic hotels.

From the moment you walk through the doors everything is beautiful, the staff is courteous and caring, classic and charming hotel.

but also for its historical connections - you will be staying in a building which in its time has hosted not only the rich and famous but also Spies, secret agents, world celebrities, Royalty, and of course, Alves Reis, arch conman and brilliant criminal mind, who used the Palace bar as his office, ( do go for a look at his house, The Casa do Menhino D’Oro, The house of the golden boy, and then afterwards visit the home of Amalia Rodrigues, which is close by, Amalia’s pet parrot, Chico, will welcome you!)

One last thing, the breakfast buffet is extensive in a beautiful room overlooking a roundabout of the Main Street with a classic monument to view.

The hotel is in the center of the city, it is clean, well designed and the night music is a great addition.

Staff were welcoming and helpful, the building is absolutely stunning, bar with live music (and well made cocktails)  in the evenings is a lovely touch and the location is very good for a wide number of hotels and tours.

Great location next to a metro station; free breakfast, upgraded to a suite upon arrival, music in the salon nightly, good drinks from the bar.

Our room was great, housekeeping was outstanding,and the bar downstairs was a perfect place to unwind at the end of the day, while listening to jazz or fado while sipping perfectly made drinks.

The staff were so attentive, from the front door to check in all very special, professional with old style grace, in the bar at the piano lounge, plus the cocktails were delicious 😁 and the breakfast experience was 2nd to none and I have been lucky to travel to and stay in some of the best hotels in the world.

We also enjoyed the live pianist each evening whilst having a drink in the bar.

The classical pianist playing the piano in the lounge everyday at 7:00 pm and the choice of a complimentary bottle of wine in our room.

At 7 pm each evening there is a 1 hour piano concert.

We wanted to spend more time enjoying the evening music in the stunning bar area, it's that nice.

Their cute bar is a good place for a pre- or post-dinner drink and had lovely music every day.

We enjoyed the tea service and the nighlty piano music.

At night we'd stop off at the lounge for drinks and live piano music.

The large, open lounge space is a nice place to relax after a day of sightseeing to enjoy some music and a glass of wine.

Rooms were immaculate and luxurious, and breakfast was a much anticipated event for us each morning, as the food, variety, and service were exemplary.

Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.

It is in walking distance to the historical center, just few meters away from Rossio train station (trip to Sintra) and has a nearby metro station.

The location is perfect to tour Lisbon and to take the train to Sintra.

The hotel location can not be beat, it is immediately next to Rossio station which is the main gateway to Sintra.

It’s directly next door to the Rossio train station that goes to Sintra and a 1 minute walk from the Hard Rock Café and Restauradores square which is where many of the tour companies begin their tours.

It was so convenient to have a five minute walk to our Sintra/Cascais tour departure area at the Hard Rock Cafe.

The location is fantastic and minutes away from everything, including the metro and the Train station if you are planning on visiting Sintra (highly recommended).

We booked a small group trip to Sintra and had a great time.

The concierge service was really good, and they arranged a very nice trip to Queluz, Sintra, Cabo da Roca and Cascais with a private driver.

The only minor negatives were the shower being on the small side and we had a couple days of missed turndown service.

The bad thing is the bathroom was so small and it's not advisable to open door widely because the toilet seat blocks it, a sliding door will be better option

but can’t recommend because of short-sighed corporate policy that requires that the totally unnecessary door in the tiny bathroom that is just always in the way (it HAS to be closed to sit on the toilet which means your significant other is trapped either in or out while you are sitting) HAS to remain in place and they would not remove it upon request even though there is already a door separating the bathroom from the bedroom in the small hall.

For a suite of that size, the bathroom was tiny, just filling some spare space between the two rooms.

Both times, they set up the kids' area in the cutest way, with tiny bathrobes and slippers for them!

It was joined by a dark corridor and had a tiny bathroom, with a shower that my husband could barely fit in.

The bathroom is small, Two people were hardly can use at same time.

It is a very old hotel so the rooms are small as are the bathrooms.

The bathrooms are small with limited shelf space.

Only real let down was the gym, just a couple of cardio machines in a small room.

Our room was a little small when you have 2 large suitcases and felt a bit cluttered.

The room was very small and so finding a place to put your luggage etc can be a. Challenge.

The table in the room was too small, so don’t plan on sitting and working while you on vacation 😊.

I was with a colleague and we booked 2 single rooms, the rooms were very small

I don't think rooms are 5 stars, a bit dated and our bathroom has a sewer gas smell for a few days.

My wife suffers from severe mold allergies.

but it is old so the rooms have that wet mildew smell.

but upstairs it’s musty and very dated.

There was a very bad sewage smell coming from the bathroom especially in the morning.

We left them in the room when we went out for the day around 10am and they came back around 4pm the same day, folded immaculately in a nice wicker basket and smelling fresh.

The sheets smelled dusty as if the bed had not been used in a while.

Well after that I must say the place was so dated and musty.

But it’s not cold cereal and stale pastries.

Only issue was a slightly musty smell - hotel staff advised and said would be looked into.

The shower/tub grout was covered with mildew.

but then I check out the night and I stumble across the lobby smelling of tobacco and the officials smoking it inside totally a lack of respect as I remember at check in saying it was forbidden .

The bottled water is not complimentary, it is charged.

Charge for water so beware, has a minibar for a charge.

She took my passport and credit card and never once looked up at me while handing me room key.

There was only one socket available, at floor level, so charging your devices was a bit more laboroius than I would have liked.

The shaver point to charge my tooth brush also did not work.

No tea or coffee making facilities and if you wanted to use the bottle water in the room, they will charge you €3.

but we were charged 3 booking deposits instead of 2.

Athough I booked the room directly via the hotel website, the front desk apparently cannot issue a receipt or statement as the room charge was managed by a third-party vendor called “hipaywallet”.

What also confused us was that there were ZERO free sockets in the room so we could charge our phones.

We were charged for 2 desserts off the trolley
