Breakfast was healthy with made to order eggs or noodles + another changing hot item.

The breakfast had a lot of variety - I especially loved that there were homemade items!!

Great customer service, good food, they make their own wine that is delicious.

Serves a good breakfast with Chinese and western food options (very good self made jam).

The food was very tasty, both for breakfast and for lunch.

The breakfast was an amazing spread each day, and we ended up eating each evening at the hotel - both from their regular menu, and we pre-ordered one night the Chinese banquet, which was an absolute feast!

We loved the breakfasts every morning especially the rotation of hot foods ( Come on the weekends for pancakes!!).

The breakfast was wonderful, they cook a hot option every morning (pancakes, spanish omelette, scrambled eggs, etc) plus a nice range of other breakfast foods (western and chinese) and drip coffee.

Rooms is so cozily lit and equipped with hot gushing showers , thick comforting quilts and more pillows than  I can remember ..so delicious to sink into after a whole day of walking and exploring about .

but we did come for lunch which was delicious and well priced.

We enjoyed the breakfasts and other meals at the hotel.

The breakfast is robust and offers a good mix of western and asian foods, and the lunch and dinner foods are also great.

Beautifully designed rooms with tiny touches that hit the spot after a long day out in the cold - think heated floors, heated toilet seats, even heated bed pads for a toasty snuggle.

We don’t feel cold when you shower when the temperature drop to 3 degree Celsius bcos of the lifted wooden panel & portable heater  provided.

Have a cold Shangi-la IPA and hang out with them.

The beds had electric blankets, perfect for my daughter who is always cold.

To put the facts right, the staff at The Bivou did informed us in their email that it would be cold

We were presented with a cup of hot tea and delicious snacks, most apt for a cold winter night, before being told that we were upgraded because the room we originally booked was still undergoing renovation.

The cooked breakfast  though did tend to be cold by the time it was brought and there was no choice of what to have -

The airport pick up was prompt, the staff very welcoming, speaking flawless English, and when they realised we had flown in from Singapore and did not quite expect it to be SO cold, they lent us down jackets for use during our stay.

The tour operator stated that Joe had instructed him to make sure that we were kept warm and that if the snow continued, not to continue with the horse riding as he was worried we might be too cold and fall sick.

Electric blankets, bed heaters and also electric convection heaters in the rooms to keep the cold away.

I had a bad cold on the first night and she not only had a humidifier brought to my room

There were two space heaters, one for the room and one for the toilet, if it got too cold.

Only problems, some noise from building of neighbors, and some of the room configuration a little strange and cold.

My only critique is this: the bed is too hard.

I sighed with joy as I walked into the lobby, passing a peaceful patio overlooking a garden.

The hotel is wonderful, a real little oasis with a lovely terrace overlooking the vegetable garden.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is sensational.

You can enjoy a drink outside with a view on the local garden.

The garden villa is a two bedroom, 3 room apartment with fully stocked kitchen and dining table.

It is a small boutique style hotel in traditional wood frame buildings, beautifully decorated with nice planting in the courtyard and overlooking the local  garden plots.

The hotel is in a very beautiful garden with a lush garden surrounding surrounding it, and very nice landscaping in the area within the hotel.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Bivou - it was perfect for our family of 4 as we had two rooms next to each other overlooking the garden.

The hotel is tucked away on a beautiful, quiet lane in Shuhe and has a gorgeous courtyard garden.

You walk to your room amidst a manicured garden full of local herbs and flowers.

It was set almost in a small garden with lots of fresh vegetables being grown around.

I felt very safe here and love the gardens of this beautiful guest house.

Hotel is very cozy designed, with its interior and little garden.

The situation was delightful - tucked away down a quiet little lane and surrounded by gardens.

Beautiful small garden, very spacious family rooms, and great meals with warm staff that felt more like friends by the time we left.

In truth, the public areas like the gardens, patios and dining area are nicer than the room itself,

but in its own little green oasis, with its own little kitchen garden at the back.

They offer a wide range of activities and tours.

The staff is very friendly, speaks English and helps with tour planning.

They also helped us with transfers and tours.

They also offer a plethora of activities and tours that we regrettably could not participate in since we already had a car and driver booked.

The tours Bivou offers is also great quality. Nongbu and Xiaoxia took us to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Tiger Leaping Gorge - two extremely memorable (and tiring!)

They arranged a tour for us to Shaxi and Shibsoshan,which we greatly enjoyed.

The hotel offers a range of activities including yoga and free walking tours.

They organised our airport transfers and local tours.

I booked The Bivou in order to combine my stay with a climb of Mt Haba (The Bivou also organise trips and tours to other places in Yunnan).

I had prearranged with my tour company activities for my time in the area,

Bivou provides reasonably priced tours that you can arrange directly with them.

The cars and english speaking tours they organised for us have been a great standard.

We have just returned back from Lijiang a week ago with our 8 days 7 nights all inclusive tour package for our all girls trip.

The package tour arranged by The Bivou was super.

They planned a electric scooter route around Lijiang that took me past farms, undulating hills, and historic temples.

Great place, highly recommended for travellers requiring a little luxury en route to Tiger Leaping Gorge and the Haba Mountain trips ( Bivou organise these trips and do all the liaison as well ) - useful if you can't speak any chinese)

They arranged the airport transport, painstakingly coordinated the local tours with extraordinary patience, provide wholesome healthy meals, accommodation was really very unique and well maintained.

Lijiang is truly a Spring City 

Thank you for being so thoughtful throughout our stayed - from giving honest recommendation on where to shop , best places to eat, arranging for our Shangri-la tour (which is awesome btw, i start missing all the natural beauty and scenery plus friendly people), rectifying the shower problem, packing us our favorite groundnuts for the road trip and not forgetting the little gifts of lip balms when we check out - love it !

the location of the hotel is fantastic (in Shuhe old town).

The location is excellent, a few minutes walk into the old town of Shuhe, which we preferred slightly over Lijiang old town, maybe because it is a bit smaller and a bit less commercial.

They also have things like hand drawn maps for Shuhe and Lijiang Old town.

I would highly recommend the hotel and look forward to staying here next time we are in Lijiang (a really beautiful town and well worth the visit).

but the highlight of the trip was staying at the Bivou and exploring the amazing old town and the country side and meeting all the fantastic people who work there

We really enjoyed this beautifully maintained property in an accessible part of Shuhe old town next to a charming patch of genuine vegetable farm!

Excellent hotel in the heart of Old Town with a great restaurant!

The location in Shuhe Old Town is ideal, quiet yet convenient for sightseeing.

Originally from Singapore, excellent English and very helpful with advice where to eat in the town and other matters.

Well located in an interesting and bustling old town

They also provide bicycles for you to ride to the nearby town.

We arrived mid afternoon and borrowed some bikes to cycle to the old town, which I'd highly recommend.

The buffet breakfast was so mediocre, with hardly any choice.

Each day, all the staff from the morning breakfast to housekeeping to concierge, everyone greeted us sincerely and warmly and engaged us in conversation.

The breakfast buffet is expansive and suits a range of needs from child to adult and from Western to Asian which was perfect for our mixed family.

So many great qualities, with a beautiful setting, perfect location and a surprisingly good breakfast inclusive of western options.

The breakfast was delicious with a lot of Western and Chinese choices.

And duty manager Joey He also very helpful to arrange our departure limousine and take-away breakfast.

As a Platinum Ambassador, we enjoyed the breakfast and club lounge snacks.

Breakfast was more than sufficient with huge variety of options, and the spa is very nice as well.

The next morning, he was again on duty during breakfast and he presented us with a local 'cake' delicacy to try.

Food in the restaurant is tasty and breakfast is excellent.

Being in a Chinese restaurant, both Eastern & Western cuisines were served and we chose from the Western Menu.

Food in the hotel's Chinese restaurant was good too, they had a promotion when we were there and the food was a good break from the oily food from the restaurants around.

Breakfast has lots of good selections, western and Chinese food.

Food at Chinese restaurant was just ok comparing to Hilton Beijing.

The good quality food served in the western and Chinese restaurants give excellent respite from the often-oily local fare.

Lastly the Chinese restaurant is in my opinion the best in town (better than Hyatt) - with lots of fusion type options, a great service & a wine list which stays reasonable in terms of price.

The best value perhaps is the Club Intercontinental room which entitles guests to morning breakfasts (featuring Chinese noodles cooked to order), afternoon tea, and pre-dinner two-hour cocktails (top shelf) and snacks.

The food at the Seven Colors Chinese restaurant was excellent.

They have a bar with a view (indoor and outdoor seating), Chinese restaurant and an all day dining.

The view of the Jade Dragon mountain from the lobby bar and the terrace of the bkfst/ chinese restaurant is just spectacular.

This is a truly 5 stars hotel, there are Chinese restaurant, western restaurant, club, bar, spa… and the guest rooms are all spacious, well-decorated and top-notch.

The chinese restaurant food is really good.

Also, having an early dinner on my own on my first evening, Della, the supervisor in the Chinese restaurant, delightfully chatted throughout and kept me company.

One cons is the air conditioner, you can only make it warm instead of cold.

Everything that was served to me was cold, not even warm.

For 348 Yuan PP/PD you will have access to an executive lounge where there will be a small breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, and happy hour between 5 pm and 8:30 pm including some limited hot and cold food and a selection of beer, wine and cocktails, plus 2 articles of clothing laundered per day.

This may be an issue if it's too cold , specially for people who live in warmer climates and in inclement weather like rain.

Our room was part of an old wing I think and on the first night I found it freezing cold!

but were a bit put off by the cold temperature of the water, and even more by the bizarrely strict rules of the pool.

Separate sitting room area that came in handy when because of a bad cold we needed to have dinner in our room.

7) I caught a cold whilst in lijiang so I approached a waitress for a cup of water.

Badly lit lights in the cold winter nights with uneven pepped road prove to be quite dangerous.

Only complaint was we ordered room service one evening and the food arrived cold.

As a result, due in part to my sensitive nose in cold February, I did not sleep well in the first two nights till I open part of the windows on our third and last night .

Unfortunately the spa pool was freezing cold so was unable to enjoy that facility.

I got there on a very cold evening in December and the only heating provided was a couple of round electric heaters.

We visited at an awkward time where it was too hot for heater and a little too cold for air con

though a little cold, with sauna and steam bath in the shower area.

It is really dark at night because the lights around the hotel compound are dim and the swimming pool water is really cold, no joke!

It was also very cold in the pool area which put us off using it.

Excellent location with the back door leading directly into the old town.

This is definitelv a top location for families with children located adjacent to the Ancient Town.

This hotel is perfectly located on the edge of the Old Town with a back entrance that makes it very easy to get in and out.

The resort is perfectly located right inside the Dayan Ancient Town (most popular ancient town in Lijiang), towards the southwest corner.

Excellent location in the south side of the Unesco Da Yan old town district, rooms are spacious and well decorated, in the true comfort of an Inter Continental hotel.

The property is just adjacent to the Lijiang Old Town south side so the location is great.

I loved the location, the hotel is connected to the old town and there are lots of restaurants and stores nearly.

but the service really made our experience memorable.

From the minute we checked in, we were greeted by Tony from Guest Services with a huge smile and attended to all our needs so patiently.

It is a very beautiful resort with very caring service.

This is a truly fantastic resort in Lijiang and the service was equally outstanding.

Not worth paying such high price when you cant enjoy the full package of good service and nice room.

Great and efficient service.

Kaiyuesheng lijiang jinmao hotel has beautiful environment and good service.

but the bottom line is, if you want to stay in a beautiful surrounding, do come, but don't come for a good service.

I ordered tuna salad with potatoes and the tuna were stinky and spoiled.

It was foul smelling, probably due to baby defecation/pee.

Mr Wan understood our breathing was difficult!

While the drinks and snacks in evening were very good, the afternoon tea was mainly stale little sandwiches, no alcoholic drinks and poor selection
- The men's locker room near the pool and gym stinks of mould.

but a staff came and worsen by spraying liquid on carpet which smell of air freshener to cover the foul chemical smell, while we were in the room without warning us.

although this room was completely free of smoke, it was musty.

One smoking room was not ready by the time we were there.

After braving the crowd and smoke in the old town, we are always so thankful to have a peaceful room to come back to.

Complaint #2: One of them had the smell of cigarette smoke.

I really hated to let my young kids breathe in smoke, so I had to move to another table.

After complaining to the front desk, it took 90 minutes (until way past midnight, after a 12-hour flight) to get us moved to a non-smoking room.

Finally, we too noticed that the hotel staff make no effort to prevent smoking in the clearly marked “No smoking” areas.

- Smoking: the hotel should have enforced the no smoking rule in its restaurants, especially during breakfast and in the lobby lounge.

but it left a nasty feeling about the place.

There was no AC or heating units to take the chill out of the room.

We got the snow mountain view (the corner unit, spacious room), and glad it came with heating for the cold winter nights (some rooms don't, due to power supply load).

Travelling in December with young kids, we underestimated the fact that most places in Southern China do not have a very powerful heating system.

Unless you can take cold, I suggest you find a place with heating facility.

There was only a heater in the bathroom which was really too small and

However, the room only had a small heater which wasn't of much use as it only heated the spot right under it.

Though it has no heater and we were there during winter, this wasn't much of a problem thanks to the provided electric blankets.

We stayed there in May 2013 and did not miss the lack of air conditioning.

I don't think the heating system works as it kept turning itself off throughout the night.
