Very comfortable guest room which made me even dont want to go out :) I highly recommend their Chinese restaurant with excellent food quality, the staff there named William Qin looked after us very well with our special preference - delighted!

Being in a Chinese restaurant, both Eastern & Western cuisines were served and we chose from the Western Menu.

Food in the hotel's Chinese restaurant was good too, they had a promotion when we were there and the food was a good break from the oily food from the restaurants around.

Breakfast has lots of good selections, western and Chinese food.

Food at Chinese restaurant was just ok comparing to Hilton Beijing.

The good quality food served in the western and Chinese restaurants give excellent respite from the often-oily local fare.

Lastly the Chinese restaurant is in my opinion the best in town (better than Hyatt) - with lots of fusion type options, a great service & a wine list which stays reasonable in terms of price.

The best value perhaps is the Club Intercontinental room which entitles guests to morning breakfasts (featuring Chinese noodles cooked to order), afternoon tea, and pre-dinner two-hour cocktails (top shelf) and snacks.

The food at the Seven Colors Chinese restaurant was excellent.

They have a bar with a view (indoor and outdoor seating), Chinese restaurant and an all day dining.

The view of the Jade Dragon mountain from the lobby bar and the terrace of the bkfst/ chinese restaurant is just spectacular.

This is a truly 5 stars hotel, there are Chinese restaurant, western restaurant, club, bar, spa… and the guest rooms are all spacious, well-decorated and top-notch.

The chinese restaurant food is really good.

Also, having an early dinner on my own on my first evening, Della, the supervisor in the Chinese restaurant, delightfully chatted throughout and kept me company.

One cons is the air conditioner, you can only make it warm instead of cold.

Everything that was served to me was cold, not even warm.

For 348 Yuan PP/PD you will have access to an executive lounge where there will be a small breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, and happy hour between 5 pm and 8:30 pm including some limited hot and cold food and a selection of beer, wine and cocktails, plus 2 articles of clothing laundered per day.

This may be an issue if it's too cold , specially for people who live in warmer climates and in inclement weather like rain.

Our room was part of an old wing I think and on the first night I found it freezing cold!

but were a bit put off by the cold temperature of the water, and even more by the bizarrely strict rules of the pool.

Separate sitting room area that came in handy when because of a bad cold we needed to have dinner in our room.

7) I caught a cold whilst in lijiang so I approached a waitress for a cup of water.

Badly lit lights in the cold winter nights with uneven pepped road prove to be quite dangerous.

Only complaint was we ordered room service one evening and the food arrived cold.

As a result, due in part to my sensitive nose in cold February, I did not sleep well in the first two nights till I open part of the windows on our third and last night .

Unfortunately the spa pool was freezing cold so was unable to enjoy that facility.

I got there on a very cold evening in December and the only heating provided was a couple of round electric heaters.

We visited at an awkward time where it was too hot for heater and a little too cold for air con

though a little cold, with sauna and steam bath in the shower area.

It is really dark at night because the lights around the hotel compound are dim and the swimming pool water is really cold, no joke!

It was also very cold in the pool area which put us off using it.

The area of the hotel is clean and beautiful with all the gardens and decoration, making it a pleasant place to take a walk too.

The atmosphere was ambient and we also saw locals dance around the campfire in the courtyard as it coincided with a festival during April.

Excellent location in the south side of the Unesco Da Yan old town district, rooms are spacious and well decorated, in the true comfort of an Inter Continental hotel.

Every aspect of the property - right from the landscaping to the architectural elements - echo an old Chinese Village/Hutong vibe!

The hotel is next to the ancient town of Lijiang city and all rooms are in small ancient style buildings,

Trees with autumn colors line the several paths to these houses.

The rooms are separated from the main lobby such that you may need to take a shuttle to get to your room (but they are super efficient with their shuttles) and the room design is really open and beautiful.

Our room was very large with a roomy shower, Japanese-style toilet, and an inviting living area.

Property in general is designed as a Naxi village and is extremely beautiful

Although the room is decorated with (dark)brown colors, it has good lighting,

However, when we got to our room all was forgotten - it was huge ( I believe 60+ sqm) and decorated in a local style

This is definitelv a top location for families with children located adjacent to the Ancient Town.

So many great qualities, with a beautiful setting, perfect location and a surprisingly good breakfast inclusive of western options.

This hotel is perfectly located on the edge of the Old Town with a back entrance that makes it very easy to get in and out.

The resort is perfectly located right inside the Dayan Ancient Town (most popular ancient town in Lijiang), towards the southwest corner.

Having said all that, we had an amazing time here, mostly due to the location and hard product,

It is also in a very convenient location within ancient town.

I loved the location, the hotel is connected to the old town and there are lots of restaurants and stores nearly.

but had our breakfast and dinner in Intercontinental.

The club offerings for cocktail time were so extensive we ended up having dinner there most nights!

The small shared garden is a nice touch and great for outdoor dining if eating in the room.

We really like our room which had a comfortable bed and really enjoyed the pillow menu.

And duty manager Joey He also very helpful to arrange our departure limousine and take-away breakfast.

He really looked after us with general advice and restaurant tips.

As there are many eating options within the old town, all my other meals were consumed within the old town.

He went out of his way to look for chilli flakes for my pizza and came back with a few different varieties!!

Special Shout out to WENDY at front desk who made our stay even more special with a great room allocated to us!

Food in the restaurant is tasty and breakfast is excellent.

Easily within walking distance for food or drinks.

They even have a pillow menu for us to choose the kind n type of pillow we like.

Dinner was good, being in an International Hotel Brand, you would expect that.

The hotel had an excellent breakfast and a choice of two restaurants one western and one Chinese - food was outstanding and perfect for my teen son who is picky.

The rooms are comfortable, the bathtub was fantastic, beds were soft and nice, the living room was cozy and all nicely decorated.

Our recent 4 day stay at the Intercontinental Lijiang in an executive room for 2 adults and 2 young children was excellent.

Firstly, a big thank you to Winnie Wen for assisting with our reservation process, setting up our room with warm welcome amenities and even a little plush toy for my daughter.

The room was spacious and ours overlook the courtyard.

Buggy service was provided from the main lobby to the chalet type rooms or back.

A buggy transported us and our luggage to our room on Level 1 in one of them.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms were very nice.

but the service really made our experience memorable.

From the minute we checked in, we were greeted by Tony from Guest Services with a huge smile and attended to all our needs so patiently.

It is a very beautiful resort with very caring service.

This is a truly fantastic resort in Lijiang and the service was equally outstanding.

Not worth paying such high price when you cant enjoy the full package of good service and nice room.

Our whole family were super impressed with Rain's attention to detail and commendable service level.

A truly 5 star hotel
Great and efficient service.

Kaiyuesheng lijiang jinmao hotel has beautiful environment and good service.

but the bottom line is, if you want to stay in a beautiful surrounding, do come, but don't come for a good service.

I ordered tuna salad with potatoes and the tuna were stinky and spoiled.

It was foul smelling, probably due to baby defecation/pee.

Mr Wan understood our breathing was difficult!

While the drinks and snacks in evening were very good, the afternoon tea was mainly stale little sandwiches, no alcoholic drinks and poor selection
- The men's locker room near the pool and gym stinks of mould.

but a staff came and worsen by spraying liquid on carpet which smell of air freshener to cover the foul chemical smell, while we were in the room without warning us.

although this room was completely free of smoke, it was musty.

One smoking room was not ready by the time we were there.

After braving the crowd and smoke in the old town, we are always so thankful to have a peaceful room to come back to.

Complaint #2: One of them had the smell of cigarette smoke.

I really hated to let my young kids breathe in smoke, so I had to move to another table.

After complaining to the front desk, it took 90 minutes (until way past midnight, after a 12-hour flight) to get us moved to a non-smoking room.

Finally, we too noticed that the hotel staff make no effort to prevent smoking in the clearly marked “No smoking” areas.

- Smoking: the hotel should have enforced the no smoking rule in its restaurants, especially during breakfast and in the lobby lounge.

but it left a nasty feeling about the place.

The staff are amazingly kind and supportive .

Staff seemed pretty good in general, nice and welcoming esp at the dinner.

All the staff are polite, competent and friendly, more than in other Chinese regions we have visited.

We encountered several very nice and highly professional staff including Sharon, Melody, Nilesh and Herman all of them were extremely gracious and helpful.

One more situation whereby while she was clearing my soiled plates, she realised that my tea was cold and she immeditely changed and served me a pot of hot tea.

but a pity that when we went in January, it was too cold to use the pool in our villa, though it could have been heated up (after several hours of heating).

I found the luck of cheeses (only 3 cheese in a small plate available) a bit annoying, especially if I compared it to the huge selection of cold meats that was being served.

It was so cold for hours that I actually ended up being sick for 4 days.

The ladle was put in a bowl filled with cold water, which means it was very likely to get the milk or soybean milk contaminated.

The Travelzoo three-course meal started with a mushroom soup with a bread soaked wet in the soup, shouldn't be the bread normally served on the side dry?Main course was certainly an eye-stunner, came in a bento box with cold chewy beef tenderloin (so called Wagyu beef strips) and very few stir-fried vege.

Don't expect that the beer in the minibar is cold and I had to wait 2 days until the light at the entrance to my villa was repaired.

but too cold for us during very chilly evenings in March.

Some small not fully perfect things: the property is very big, so you either need to walk a couple of minutes to get the entry or call an electric car (which usually takes 5-10 minutes to arrive); the ceilings in the bedrooms are very high (which is nice) so the aircon was not really able to heat the room to a cosy temperature in Winter (it’s not freezing cold,

Stayed for a few nights February last year, when it was still pretty cold - unlike many places the Banyan tree was properly heated, which was a major point in favour.

Food terrible in both restaurants with each person's meal coming at 10min intervals and food cold.

Our  meal in the Chinese restaurant was unimpressive and some dishes were cold or only lukewarm at best.The Asian restaurant is marginally better,

We had some difficulty with cold restaurant and room.

where you walked from one room to another, were freezing cold.

but the restaurant is also a bit cold in the morning.

but are frequently overwhelmed by the amount of guests crammed in a small lobby = no privacy, no personal touch, cold and rushed attention to guests.

However, the Banyan Tree t-shirt I purchased should have been much better quality for the price. The color ran on it the first time I washed it (in cold water) and essentially ruined the nice part of the shirt advertising "The Banyan Tree-Lijiang."

but it definitely pays to check it before signing.

And given the price you’re paying, it is infuriating and unacceptable.

I would call it so shabby for a 740 USD accommodation per night.

but again not worthy of a 5 star hotel and this price.

The chinese food restaurant food is absolutely awful - avoid at all costs.

Food unfortunately is still a bit hit or miss and is definitely at western hotel pricing.

But this would be nothing if this wasn't reinforced by the ambience inside the hotel and this is certainly first rate.

but our first dinner at the western restaurant certainly didn't pay off.

They also collected our train tickets for a small fee and there was a slight problem as our son had a new passport number which did not match the ticket order

There are 5 reasons why we would recommend Banyan Tree Lijiang at this price range:

1)	Strong local knowledge to organize bespoke sight-seeing itinerary beyond the bog-standard top attractions
We were initially concerned that 9 days is too long a time to spend in Lijiang and we would run out of sights to explore and end up disappointed.

Services are ridiculously overpriced for the region and area.

but it's not cheap as one couple 3-4hr  treatment is more expensive than 1 night's stay.

If this was not a Banyan Tree resort or if we were not paying $500 USD a night for a villa, then so be it.

though expect to pay 5 star prices for them.

Today this is no longer the case and you can find much better options at lower prices.

When I book a two duplex with two rooms and I do not expect to pay extra for the third or fourth person.

We stay in the Banyan tree  hotel for the last 3days of our yunnan trip, Villa 220 with out door  Jet pool was so relaxing after a lot of walk and hike.

though the grounds are quite large, it is never crowded and a perfect retreat from busy Lijiang Old town.

We have chosen this hotel because of its relaxing and beautiful nature surroundings!

Wonderful experience !Friendly staff !Extremely nice view !Extremely relaxing while staying  there !It is really a good place to relax and " find !!

but not the least, the Banyan Tree spa, totally relaxing!

It was such a relaxing stay at Banyan Tree Lijiang – I even had my morning runs around the resort.

The hotel is set like a resort, so every room is in a separate 'house' from other, make the place more peaceful and quieter.

The design is creative and inspiring, and there were times when we were tempted to just spend the whole day relaxing at the Banyan Tree.

The Jet Pool is comfortable, relaxing with hot bath.

I feel that the hotel is fixated on building its “relaxing resort” brand with all the essential oil, burning incense, etc.

I would definitely recommend this hotel as an excellent resort to unwind and relax in a beautiful surrounding.

Before our arrival, Angela worked out a neat itinerary for us for our short retreat.

Unlike the busy Lijiang old town, the area is quiet and peaceful, a small village is about 5 minutes walk away which is perfect for our family to take a after dinner walk,  in where we also booked our tours.

Positives:  The location is quite excellent (short 10 min walk to a smaller shopping/bar area) and the landscape/environment is superb and serene.

The best thing about this resort is the location, if a restful getaway is what you are after.

We visited Banyan Tree Lijiang for 3-night stay as we attended a wedding there, and it was our first time in the city. The hotel is located outside of the hustle & bustle of the town, which for us was a plus as we could unwind and relax (it’s not easy to find places that you can wake up with the sound of birds singing!)

The pool villa was private and serene with mountain views along with large sitting area and private yard.

Our villa came with a private jacuzzi which was splendid for relaxing in.

We were hoping a relaxing night at the feet of Yulong Snow Mountain to end of our trip.

We had hotpot in the hotel was so yummy and my husband wants to eat again for the second nighg😜

And then for Banyan Tree Lichiang hotel,The Lichiang is a wonderful place  with so many things to see and Lichiang is the  best hotel to be in this area .The staff was very  professional and friendly and we would like to  thank again to restaurant staff !It is very  rare in china to meet people even in luxury hotel  who speak such a good different language !The accommoda - tions were trully fantastic  decorated with an  amazing Naxi style !It was clean ,beautifull with  Many little details the paradise in China.the only  mistake we made ?We only stayed there 3 nights  it was not enough at all !!!!

Besides my kids find the breakfast experience very fascinating cause you're having your meal with peacocks, ducks & then can feed fishes too.

Everything is so nicely designed with local Naxi ethnic minority touches from architecture, and greenery.

In the following days I spent most of time in our villa to enjoy the tranquil time: sunshine, tea, reading, BBQ and relaxing except one trip to Shuhe Ancient Town, which is just 10 minutes walk from the resort..

Dinner both nights were fine and not too expensive.

Food was great which we had all meals at the resort.

but they accommodated our request to BBQ in the pavilion and help us BBQ carrying umbrellas as the pavilion could not quite accommodate everything.

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous at all the outlets; reception, dining, room service etc.

coffee making class, cocktail class, bike tour etc.

We booked the special dinner under the pagoda, which was also an incredible and truly unique way to enjoy an evening.

Jenny is very friendly and the food is great.

There you can find excellent selection of restaurants and shops.
