but the quality is rather poor and sometimes the dishes are cooked badly.

We had to wait around in the bar (where we got one drink before the poor bar-man vanished again) for an hour and a half before we got available tables. Ridiculous.

Pros:  The view, the location, "old world feel" and basically a nice place to visit. Cons:  VERY poor service in the restaurant - I almost jumped up and said several times "We need someone to actually wait on us here!"

Only criticism was the TV - is located at a very poor angle from the bed and also the volume did not work properly.

The only downsides are the Internet access and speed are quite poor, and there are no irons in the room -

Europe's ubiquitous poor customer service still managed to rear its head during our stay, albeit mildly: My wife and I were addressed in a condescending manner once by staff at the front desk and were yelled at like children by the hotel's boat operator, who when confronted appologized.

I could not find anything wrong with this hotel the staff where friendly and helpfull at all times could not do enough for you, the rooms where spotless and the view was amazing.

The dinner in the main restaurant is generally awful, busy and slow.

The keys are still physical keys and lift is slow.

The service was painfully slow and as another person noted there were children running up and down the restaurant so the atmosphere was not particularly good.

The only slight negative we had was that the service was quite slow if you went to the restaurant at busy times.

WLAN - a 4 star hotel without working WIFI, or only very slow Wifi in the lobby that regularly disconnects is just not acceptable in 2014. they really need to invest in this - very annoying when you have to do sth.

Was an old worn down room, smell of mold in bath room and lazy staff, very slow service except for some few.

but as it was just me hitting the bar anyway, so I can't say I had to wait for my drinks.

A hotel should be able to cater for their guests at any hour when it comes to food, not make them wait until 8pm to eat!

The only thing that is missing is air conCan’t wait to come back.

My only concern was that there is no elevator for the rooms on the higher floors.

It was on the top floor and there is no elevator

This hotel is not a luxury and the rooms are rather simple.

Like most of the other reviews, this hotel isn't luxurious,

but still in walking distance from village center; the restaurant was a little disappointing; they put us (did not understood why) in the breakfast room, where it was also cold and not as friendly as in the restaurants; we were the only ones there; food was average; but breakfast was ok.

Upon entering the room, a nicely designed and decorated room, we found it to be cold.

The rooms are well appointed, quiet and you can hear the gurgling brook as you go to sleep (as long as it is not too cold to leave your windows open).

My only suggestion is the pool temperature is way too cold, could not enjoy as it was frigid, should be heated warmer in colder seasons so you can enjoy before a massage.

Breakfast was included in our rate and included warm and cold dishes (eggs, cheese, meat, yogurt, etc.).

A cold beer at the hotel pub was perfect after a full day of exploring the area, and then we slipped downstairs to enjoy the indoor pool, sauna, and tanning bed.

If that is how they treat potential guests then they should not be in the hospitality industry.

I do not think that the hotel have too many English speaking guests.

We went to dinner quite late and requested a table by the window which had just been vacated by guests who had finished their meal.

My stay was a business trip, and I think I was the only guest there alone.

We had excellent food here last year,and, whilst the food is still good there were some disappointments especially with some main courses and desserts not reaching the heights we had expected.This was confirmed by some other guests who visit frequently.We have heard that the hotel is changing ownership in November,so whether this may account for changes we don't know.You will still have a great time here and the halfboard terms are excellent value for money in a beautiful part of Bavaria.

On the second night, the service was much better since there were fewer guests.

but then found accidentally this hotel and can say that it was well worth the additional kilometers! I only stopped there for 1 night so if you are there for such a short time try to visit AlpspiX as Zugspitze is bit pricey and probably will take longer :-)

We had reserved 2 bedrooms with a balcony ( already paid in full) and they claimed to have a reservation for one room only, so we didn't get the room we were expecting..

They did give us the key to the garage to park a couple of times when the lot was full, at no extra charge when normally there is daily rate for its use.

but did have a couple drinks in the small bar (which were very pricey).

I had to check  with them a few times and finally got an answer that they cant accomodate us.

We insisted to go back to our room to get refreshed before driving later and check either we didn't forget something (what turned out to be true).

but still have old fashioned bathtup showers which can be challenging  and "dangerous" specially for older people whenn climbing in and out of the bathtub.

My only concern was the bath in our room which was situated under a sloping eve meaning that unless you are young/limber gets out of the bath involves a very high risk of banging your head which does make it rather dangerous.

Lot's to do in the neighbourhood: biking, hiking, bus and train stops in front of the hotel.

I asked her if we could have new rooms as we'd now had 2 days without power meaning we couldn't wash, charge anything or have any light to get ready in. She seemed extremely reluctant to give us new rooms and said she had guests arriving the next day, then she said she was tired and her english wasn't great (what an excuse!)

Well, the internet is charged per day, and, 2013 I don't think that is right these days.

He couldn't find a solution and asked us if we plugged anything in (which we hadn't) so said he'd call the electrician in the morning.

I don't understand the positive reviews and also am starting to have doubts about booking.com with whom we booked Hotel Bergland, reserving a room for one week.

but it was booked so we found Hotel Bergland.

but Hotel Bergland (which in fact a family business offering all amenities) had no such reservations.

The breakfasts were delicious, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the view of the Alps out of my bedroom window made it feel like we were waking up in a fairy tale every morning.

To make it better- Managers need to be more present  regarding behavior of guests inside of building 

Menus in English need to be available , and restaurant needs to be open at least until 9 PM.

The Manager is a whiskey fan and you can tell by the quantity and quality that he wants to share his knowledge with all the guests!

We had 2 rooms for 2 days with ages 2 yrs to 68yrs and five guests.

The hotel was full of noisy seminar guests.

Also, the garage is way too small and there no one checking the parking, guests are parking how they want and comsuming two spaces in stead of one - well, not really hotel's fault,

Unlucky, we were punished by an unfriendly lady staff who seem to be really really tired and angry as there were so many quests standing around her.

If you plan to visit the Zugspitze, get your ticket on the day from them, the same price as the official website

I booked the room months in advance. We were supposed to have a room described on their website as "The forest will not obstruct your breathtaking view as you look across the lowlands to the rocky peaks of the Bavarian Prealps.  "

Since the hotel has listed a strict restaurant dress code in their hotel info manual , they need to add rules forbidding “out of control” behavior !

He also tried to defend himself saying that "all our customers book direct, no one uses booking.com" so he was obviously not familiar / accustomed to check whether a booking had been prepaid and assumed that I booked directly with the guesthouse.

The Wi-Fi was a real pain - impossible to use for mobile devices (some system based on ticketing and login using random, 8 letters, user and password, requiring re-login after every phone or tablet sleep time).
