We love the peace, the simplicity, a good breakfast and a nice and clean room.

An excellent breakfast, a perfectly maintained room with bathroom, beautiful view of the surroundings and super facilities for storing ski equipment.

Breakfast gives a huge choice of cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, rolls etc to send you on walks and bike rides in this stunning area.

Continental breakfast is excellent and they take great personal care of everything.

The view from the rooms (at least the one I was in during both stays) is simply stunning, the breakfast is exactly what you need to get the right start for a day in the mountains and they even have a gym in the basement if you didn't get enough exercise.

The best gasthaus in Ehrwald and surroundings , Evelyn and Gary are very fine people , Always very clean rooms , Always ready to give advice.

The rooms were spotlessly clean as always and Gary and Evelyn were as friendly and as exceedingly helpful as they have been on previous stays.

In addition, you will find warm, cosy rooms that are perfectly clean (I insist on that point : it is rare to find Hotel or B&B rooms that are this clean and well prepared) 

The stay is in the center of the lovely Ehrwald town where you will find everything you need : from small restaurants to ski shops and grocery stores.

Haus Karl's Ruh was spotlessly clean and our room was lovely with great views from the window, a comfortable bed & soft fluffy duvet.

The rooms were spotlessly clean alongwith the rest of the guesthouse and couldn't ask for more from them or a place to stay.

We stayed in Haus Karl's Ruh mid January for our short ski trip.

On a recent 5 week trip to Europe Haus Karl's Rue was on our agenda for a 2 day stay in October.

It was a great place to stay and plenty to do - from rides up the Zugspitze, to the local pools (for which you get a discount with a guest card), walking and renting bikes for cycle trips.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Haus Karl's Rue in December last year for a snowboarding trip.

No air conditioning -which is typical of a European hotel -

though it was a warm room with no air conditioning, i opened the balcony door to let some air in.

Travel in spring or fall if you can, as with most hotels in Europe there is no A/C.

The rooms are not very exciting, especially in the back of the hotel (a little loud with the dumpster and air conditioner).

Most glorious location for a great hotel for couples and families.

The Eibsee is a dream location in southern Germany.

Primarily, this hotel is about the location on the Eibsee, at the foot of the new cable car to the top of the Zugspitze.

We love the beautyful location, the well maintained building and the friendly and attentive service - be it at the reception or the service stuff, the restaurant or house keeping.

Overall, we arrived in wonder for the location and we left "wondering" about all the rest.

Also, the location is perfect: one can take the cablecar or the train to the Zugspitze, the bus or train to Garmisch and all are very near to the hotel.

The location is unbeatable, especially with the Lake view room.

Our location and the view from our balcony was superb.

It's simply stunning location tells its own story, given room 221 overlooking Lake Eibsee, lovely room with two beds, beautifully clean, well appointed bathroom.

It is in the most beautiful location and direct access to the lake means swimming and boating (free canoes and stand up paddling on the beach) in the summer.

The Hotel is located right at the Eibsee with a full View into the Mountains.

We booked the Eibsee hotel purely because of it's location and the location did not let us down.

Very clean, warm staff, great service and with a great position, right in front of Eibsee Lake and highest peak of Zugshpitz.

but the quality is rather poor and sometimes the dishes are cooked badly.

We had to wait around in the bar (where we got one drink before the poor bar-man vanished again) for an hour and a half before we got available tables. Ridiculous.

Pros:  The view, the location, "old world feel" and basically a nice place to visit. Cons:  VERY poor service in the restaurant - I almost jumped up and said several times "We need someone to actually wait on us here!"

Only criticism was the TV - is located at a very poor angle from the bed and also the volume did not work properly.

The only downsides are the Internet access and speed are quite poor, and there are no irons in the room -

Europe's ubiquitous poor customer service still managed to rear its head during our stay, albeit mildly: My wife and I were addressed in a condescending manner once by staff at the front desk and were yelled at like children by the hotel's boat operator, who when confronted appologized.

Wi-Fi is free - our connection was poor as we were at one of the furtherest points from reception,

There were no English tv channels, there was poor lighting, and the wifi was free

Our room was clean, big, bed comfortable, the bathroom had everything we needed.

I could not find anything wrong with this hotel the staff where friendly and helpfull at all times could not do enough for you, the rooms where spotless and the view was amazing.

The dinner in the main restaurant is generally awful, busy and slow.

The keys are still physical keys and lift is slow.

The service was painfully slow and as another person noted there were children running up and down the restaurant so the atmosphere was not particularly good.

The only slight negative we had was that the service was quite slow if you went to the restaurant at busy times.

WLAN - a 4 star hotel without working WIFI, or only very slow Wifi in the lobby that regularly disconnects is just not acceptable in 2014. they really need to invest in this - very annoying when you have to do sth.

Was an old worn down room, smell of mold in bath room and lazy staff, very slow service except for some few.

Wonderful sauna and indoor pool for those rainy days and a fabulous walk around the lake for spectacular scenery.

If you factor in the meals and actually use all the spa facilities and the local transport Ticket with discounts, the deals are reasonable.

A great hotel with superb spa for my wife, great food for both of us.

The hotel has spa facilities and a swimming pool which are really nice.

The free spa is exceptional and everyone using it seemed to love it.

My wife a non-skier greatly enjoyed walking in the local area around the lake and pampering herself in the excellent Spa facilities.

There is also a wonderful chill out area overlooking the lake in the spa.

Take a walk around the lake and absolutely use the spa.

This hotel is a great all rounder - you don't have to ski, you have so much to keep you occupied from views to the brilliantly crafted Spa.

The spa is a must with amazing views across the lake from the Sauna, relax room and pool.

Can walk to the tram or ride the train or a bus into Garmisch and other surround areas.

They offer free train access to Garmisch if you don’t want to drive.

but with easy access via road and mountain railway.

Be sure to use all of the amenities and take the cog train to the top of Zügspitze!

It was easy to take the cog wheel train to the Zugspitze for skiing and to arrive from Munich, via Garmisch.

but connection to Garmisch and other surroundins is very easy with the local train and bus.

Convenient location to summit train (less that 150m), dress well for the trip up, the ambient temp was 25-30f colder at the summit and wind chill easily double that.

Take the train and gondola to the Summit of Zugspitze, where you can enjoy the view with a beer and bratwurst.

Its great that you get a Grainau card free on check in which gives you free travel too and from Grainau and Garmisch by bus or cogwheel train.

Parking was easy, and the bus and train are easy and accessible, too.

Walk to the cable car, train into Garmisch, hiking trails around the lake, paddle boats for the lake, and a Bavarian charm.

Easy access to the train and cable car to Zugspitze, or you can just go round the lake on a very accessible path.

We travelled by train from Munich and bus replacement service to Garmisch, we were told by a station official to take a taxi to the hotel which cost 25 euros,

but  there is bus and train transport to town.

Within a few minutes walk of the hotel door there is a cable car which can lift you to the summit of the Zugspitz in ten minutes, or a train which does the same thing at a more leisurely pace - €51 round trip.

As a visitor we were issued with a Grainau card by the hotel and this entitled us to free use of the Zugspitze train and bus between the Eibsee and Garmisch.

Took 7.30am Friday train from Munich main station and on the Zugspitze slopes above Eibsee before 11.30am (having hired equpment at the Eibsee cable-car station).

Its right on the spot  to catch the train or the cable for the ski slops.

No toiletries provided - our son had a body wash in his room and we only had a hand wash in ours!

We had three balcony bedrooms on the second floor - varied in size - only one had a bath - toiletries were disappointing.

Our kids slept on a fold- out sofa which could have been more comfortable, and there was no soap for the shower.

On our first morning, we got 3 Grainau Passes dropped off at our table which gave us free access to trains and buses in the area.

Would I stay there again, yes I would, another selling point has to be the situation within the village, a small shop within 100 metres, the railway station 10 minutes walk away and the bus stop outside.

Also, the hotel is within walking distance to the Train Station and the free bus to take you to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The bus stop is just down from the entrance to the hotel and you get a Grainau Stadt card and can ride the bus to Garmisch or the Eibsee for free.

Included in your stay is a Grainau Pass which lets you use the local train between Eibsee, Grainau & Garmish and the local buses.

My only concern was that there is no elevator for the rooms on the higher floors.

It was on the top floor and there is no elevator

Based on the hotel amenities "Free High Speed Internet ( WiFi )" is available,

You do get a Grainau Village Tourist Card from the hotel and that was a boon giving free travel on the bus and trains between Eibsee and Garmisch.

The staff speak excellent English and there is free wi-fi in the lobby.

Herr Seufferth spoke excellent English and was very helpful with his recommendations on how best to use our limited time. The room was clean and the balcony had a great view of hillsides, cows (with their required bell-gear!)

Nicest Tyrolean Hotel I have stayed in bar the Kaiserhof in Kitzbuhel.

Very traditional style, has a nice comfortable seating area, bar and restaurant.

The beautiful Tyrolean-style hotel building is well maintained and spotlessly clean, with spacious yet cozy public lounge areas, and an inviting bar with service indoors and out.

The hotel is nicely located close to restaurants, bars and some shops.

Huge lounge area with lots of comfortable seating, nice restaurant area and pleasant bar.

Drinks obtained from the bar were reasonably priced and were similar to pub prices in London.

The staff were all friendly and the bar well run.

The portions were fine and one course was a help yourself salad bar and so you were always full at the end of the meal.

The breakfast, after lunch and dinner package was very tasty and could take glutenfree, lactose free and vegetarian option.

but applaud the quality of the dinners and breakfasts.

The evening food was just about adequate except one evening when the vegetarian lasagne was inedible.
