If you’re planning to be in downtown rather than the strip this place is fantastic.

First time staying at Downtown Grand and I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I’ve stayed at the Downtown Grand Twice this month.

I loved staying downtown as opposed to the strip.

Gregory Walver was a wonderful host for Downtown Grand Hotel and casino, he was fantastic representation for this chic hotel which is perfect for us!

The Grand is always my go-to hotel when I want to stay in downtown.

Super close to downtown so very convenient.

The Downtown Grand Las Vegas is a surprisingly decent hotel despite its location in downtown Vegas.

The Beds are always comfortable and the staff is so very friendly and helpful and Curtis is my Host he's always there to help I have been going to Vegas for a while and always stay at the Downtown Grand 😊

My friends and I had a fantastic experience at the Downtown Grand.

The Downtown Grand is a block off Fremont Street and is UNKNOWN to most of the public.

It's unfortunate, 'cause it could be a decent downtown spot.

We have stayed at Downtown Grand several times, and due to our recommendations, several of our friends choose this Hotel.

Get to Downtown Grand Hotel and Casino , a very good time and friendly dealers who really appreciates you being there - especially SAN , clean safe cozy casino that doesn't overwhelm you with it's size sights and sounds of the bigger properties.

Little did I know, the room was located directly across of the Gold Spike courtyard.

Across the street is the Oasis at Gold Spike.

You also have a lot of popular bars nearby on each side, hogs and heffers, the gold spike and is close to the fremont experience!

The furnace in the room squeaked so loud I had to turn it off completely.

I’ve never been to a hotel that prioritized party guests over hotel guests.

Loud music from Freemont is unavoidable, 

Not much gambling area so we had to play at another casino.

There seems to be no free drinks on casino floor unless you're playing tables.

but you can still hear music late into the night, with the bass notes being especially hard to drown out.

Even without the DJ playing late 80s hits to crowd of screaming bachelorettes, there's also motorcycles and loud cars making noises on the road right below you.

The 'music' blasted so loud we were unable to sleep, and at one point my phone vibrated off its charger and fell, cracking the screen.

Was not loud and noisey like other casinos in Las Vegas.

All these people complaining about loud music obviously forgot where they were vacationing at, vegas has many pool clubs with events at their pools.

One drawback was the loud music over the citrus pool area, which started quite early and could interfere with audio during meetings or calls.

Gave me a room overlooking the pool where they had a party playing music so loud not even the tv could drown it out, until 1 am.

The “upgrade” room was below the pool party that lasted until 1 am.

Next in the middle of the night from 10-3am there was music playing from spike casino…a discount should’ve have been given if you are putting people on that side of the hotel.

I only inquired about the theme of the pool party and he said that to me right in front of the pool manager.

I'm writing this as I sit in my hotel room which is rattling from the bass blasting from the pool deck several floors below.

I was up half the first night due to a band on fremont that went until midnight that was so loud it was thumping on the 19th floor.

The street noise was so loud you had to have earplugs to sleep.

The noise from a party at the pool on a Thursday night was so loud we could hear it three hotel aisles away in our room.

The only noises we heard were foot steps from the room above.

We could hear all the sounds from everywhere around our room including music from the street, plumbing, and noise from other rooms and hallway.

Between finding your adorable little sticky note about the earplugs stuck to our mirror, no earplugs to be found, and the tissue box stuffed full of SOMEONE ELSES USED TISSUES it is incredibly clear that you dont clean your rooms.

Was a bit noisy, even with a room facing away from Fremont street.

You can hear the footsteps of the upstairs neighbors thundering.

They did not provide a “sound machine” to drown out the crap on Fremont St.

If any one in the room next to you or above you or in the street make any noise, you will hear every peep.

but you don’t get all the late night noise if you want to get a good nights sleep.

The suite was on the North side of the tower, away from all the noise of the Fremont Street Experience.

Waiting for the elevator at 10pm, someone was loudly wrenching in the ladies room.

They sent up 20 pair of earplugs, like if we kept shoving them in maybe we could pop our eardrums? Weak.

The only way to drown it out was to run the air conditioning on high and wear earplugs.

Make sure to get a players card and use it all the time.

The front desk supervisor clearly lied to us when we indicated that there were no rooms available, and then had the audacity to try and charge me for the larger suite price for the remaining 3 nights in a petite room.

Was allowed to check in a 10am without any type of up charge.

My biggest complaint is the players card was easily defective, I went through 4 cards.

I asked her to pull my $$ in with my players card,

We were given a compensation of 1-day’s refund of the amenity charge, which amounted to about $27.

but perhaps they could invest in card readers instead.

I would have given them 5/5 if wasn't for the washrooms in the premium tower room for having to wear a wristband and for charging a resort fee when they really are not offering anything.

After getting to look at the logs there was an entry at 10:31 with a card using the same number as my card

I presented my credit card for the stay, an amount of $520.

After a 7 day stretch they charged us a daily $25 fee for staying past 7 days.

To his credit, FOH manager was helping bus.

*****HOTEL GUESTS BEWARE***** returned from Las Vegas 13 hours ago & had a $150 charge on my credit card for "room damage" from El Cortez.

en april 17 we go to el cortez and we have reservatiion just for one night  we pay 213.39  take for my card.

My charge card was billed an additional 97 bucks with no invoice or explanation of charges to back it up.

So I sulk crying to my room- no credit cards or even identification, while the thief is given permission to gamble, drink, and enjoy the casino.

Banging doors in the hallway and a loud siren like beeping caused by too many unsuccessful key card attempts are what kept me up until 2:45 am.

December 18, 2019 El Cortez went into my account again charge $10.00.

Ours barely spoke except to count out the cards and sat there with sour looks on their faces.

You almost expect that at a downtown property.

I spent considerable time in just about every other casino downtown, and nothing came close to the stench that greeted you upon entering the casino at the El cortez.

I have been to this casino on every trip to Las Vegas I have been on for its classic Vegas look and feel plus the best gaming downtown,

It’s close to everything on Fremont Street, easy to get anywhere Downtown, while being a quiet place to stay.

This is helpful if you want to park for free Downtown during a future visit when you may be staying somewhere else.

Also, the El Cortez is located downtown, a few miles north of the main strip.

Loved the casino, restaurant was ok. 10 seconds from downtown Vegas which was the highlight for us.

So I like going downtown to visit the El, and occasionally to visit the MSS.

Liked that I could walk quickly to anywhere downtown.

The view of downtown was beautiful at sunset.

She really ruined our trip, it was our first day in Vegas and we were so excited to stay downtown.

And it was really the only blackjack game in town, can't play on the strip, can't play downtown.

She is the epitome of what draws Vegas history lovers to the downtown/Fremont area.

Overall, a decent value for the price in Downtown Vegas.

We have stayed at many different Downtown Vegas properties over the years and we both agree this is our favorite by far and we would 100% stay here again.

I have to say that it is one of the most pleasant places to stay downtown.

We had our wedding in the Fiesta Room at the El Cortez hotel in downtown and we also stayed there.

Downtown is where it's at these days in Vegas!

but they’re the best value of anything downtown.

So, around 1: am, the CSR from Booking.com calls and tells me they found a room at a nearby hotel near the EL--the Oasis at Gold Spike and offered to refund the price difference in price, etc.

even though I do not gamble, nor drink, nor smoke, and I chose the El Cortez for my stay this visit because my previously-favorite Old Town hotel, the Gold Spike, closed in early 2013 and is currently being remodeled and re-purposed.

I did stay at the Gold Spike last year and the El Cortez beats them hands down.

Its a pity they done know how to mop the floors because they remained  filthy for the whole stay.

Aside from the bad smells (the elevator smells of urine) and the lumpiest mattress of my lifetime, the worst part was being awakened by aggressive banging on my room door by a shabbily dressed security officer (wrinkled shirt and ratty uniform) who insisted he had to take me down to the front desk - that I had not paid.

We were relocated to room 1508, it was just as filthy.

but this time we had a particularly nasty cocktail waitress.

Sleeping is going to be  tough with the smoke odor and club music.

Terrible smell of cleaner throughout the hall and rooms, No hot water in shower any time we showered.

It is dark, smells of alcohol and cigarettes.

The El Cortez definitely has that old Las Vegas feel (and smell) to it.

only six tables in the smaller area, smoky and grungy, and a few 10 splitters due to low stakes.

We stayed here due to the fact none of the other downtown hotels offered smoking rooms.

They should be happy anyone still comes in the smoky smelly old casino!!!

It is so bad that you can smell the nicotine on your clothes, after a night here.

The Casino was musty from cigarette smell and the area of the strip is definitely the old part of town,

The light shined urine all around the toilet walls- just gross.

I am impressed by the remodel casino floor ( new carpet, less smoking, new slot machines) .

No more dingy carpets and smoke stained walls.

Also, you can play blackjack and not worry that some gross smelling homeless guy is gonna sit down next to you.

The bathroom was almost too small for one person.

I went to restroom for my travel was a bit long,  and toilet did'nt flush,  I immediately went to front desk to let them know and they fix the issue right away awesome on their part.

There was no plug in the sink which had clearly been adapted to save water.

Bathroom sink was literally a 12” x 12” square with no counter top space at all and shower was barely large enough to fit a very small adult.

The bathroom was small and dirty, hair all over the bathtub.

but I was only in the room to sleep and shower.

I found several water bottles under the bed and someone’s blood pressure meds.

primarily the shower head in room 1236 is a piddle and then the drain doesn't work so you are standing ankle deep in gray water.

Bathroom toilet looked to be straight out of a public bathroom.

was the toilet plugging and sitting in our room om Friday night for an hour while they fixed the toilet.. We got yelled at by security several times for pulling our masks down to have a drink or a puff, We will not be back

The toilet is from a 1980's middle school.

but the walls in the bathroom were coated with toothpaste/soap splatters.

Both the sink and tub had cracks in them.

There was black stuff stuck or cigarette burned on the bottom of the top, there was mold on the outer edgest of the handle in the tub and the bathroom mirror had dirty fingerprints all over it.

Bathroom had pee marks down the wallpaper next to the toilet.

The bathroom, in particular, needs a revamp.

With the renovation and upgrades to this hotel, as well as many others on downtown Fremont Street, it’s a fun, more casual happenin spot of Vegas for tourists.

I have family in the area and so Downtown is a good place to stay because there is plenty of public transportation and Uber so I did not need to rent a car to get to my family member's apartment.

however, its in the center of the downtown area, which is a fun place to be, especially in the evening/night.

Had a great time at the Fremont and other hotels downtown.

Another thing the Downtown area has turned into a SEWER we always felt safe walking Downtown and enjoyed the entertainment.

The location is excellent for experiencing Downtown Vegas and Fremont Street.

If you’re looking for a cheaper option than staying on the strip id 100% recommend staying at the Fremont hotel in downtown Las Vegas.

Although I stay at others hotels downtown The Fremont is my favorite.

The Fremont Hotel & Casino is one of 
the oldest in Downtown Las Vegas.

The close proximity to all the downtown casinos makes it easy to go from one to  another.

So glad that I tried another downtown hotel.

It is right at the center of Fremont St. and near all of the action downtown.

We find the Fremont to be centerally located downtown with the bus line directly across the street so hopping the bus and enjoying the strip iif you like for a day is super easy.

We were interested in staying downtown and decide to give the Freemont Hotel a try.

Those of you looking for a good time and fun this place is it downtown is great.

It's a different view from the sophistication and brilliance of the huge casinos downtown.

The hotel's location is second to none in all of Vegas - across Fremont from the 4 Queens, Casino Center from Binions, and catty-corner to the Golden Nugget, with Fremont Street offshoots like the Gold Spike and El Cortez in easy walking distance.

Not many free free rooms in Vegas anymore: Rooms are small,

The room is small, we had a two double bed room, two queens would not have fit.

My room was as small as Harry Potters cabinet.

Small rooms, kind of smelly, and desperately in need of an update.

It was just a small room with a bed or 2.

It is quite a bit older and could definitely use some TLC, the rooms are small and the ac does not work that well.

I opened up the Lyft car door and was greeted by the unmistakable smell of pot in the valet area.

For foreign tourists be aware that rates advertised often mask the  hefty resort taxes.

However, we asked for non smoking and received smoking.

We requested a non smoking room and I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn’t a single smell of smoke in the bedroom.

It's filthy, not kept up and rooms look like they should be in a flea bag motel they're so run down.

but I wasn't expecting the bathtub to look disgusting!

Gross smelly stuff from the pipes kept coming up through the drain into our tub.

First & foremost, the location in downtown has numerous nightclubs & bars, including the floor level nightclub at the Oasis itself.

I recommend this place 100%.. it’s close to the downtown area and very convenient location.

This place  is amazing every time I come they take care of me with the best customer service in downtown vegas area.

It’s in a great location, just a block away from Fremont and downtown.

but downtown has changed a lot since the last time I was here and Oasis is definitely the spot to stay at!

I've stayed at every downtown casino and this is thr best for the money.

Loved it would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy downtown Vegas or the strip.

There is a neat outdoor backyard feeling area and nice pool and close to walk to Fremont Street and downtown Vegas.

It is a minute walk to the downtown experience.

We wanted to stay a few days in downtown this trip rather than just a quick dash downtown and this place hot the spot.

but let me tell you the hospitality of the professional in this industry in Downtown Las Vegas never changed.

Defiantly would recommend oasis gold spike for anyone Comming to las Vegas if your looking for a cheap fun and walking distance the downtown experience.
