It’s an expensive place and was our second choice

Prices too expensive compared with massage along Fisherman’s lane.

The only reason I haven’t given five stars is the crazy high prices for drinks and food.

It's shocking that the selection is not better when you pay as much as you do in Anantara.

I'm afraid we wouldn’t return to this hotel, while our experience was OK, and certainly not uncomfortable, for the price of the rooms, we believe there is better out there.

but as a special treat worth it- if you can, do it ;-) 

The only downside is that meal prices are a bit steep and especially at the pool bar could have been better in size, quantity and quality, but with fisherman’s village being 2 minutes away there are plenty of other options.

but expensive and not really 5* compared to other resorts.

I did book and paid for a sea view room with balcony and got a room with very limited sea view on the 2nd floor and without balcony.

Service was very good- modern, clean, the prices for massage to expensive,  the problems with brown water in the room for 2 of 5 days has to Do with sewage , that is also in the ocean.

Did not expect to have to pay extra to use a sauna and/or steam room.

The room rate is expensive and because it’s lost it’s personal charm we wouldn’t return and would look for smaller more intimate cheaper hotel of which there are many in Bophut.

The ambiance of the hotel grounds/pool area is peaceful which we enjoyed during our stay and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

One other review commented on cannabis being smoked at the resort and we noticed this also, its legal in Thailand so if someone wants to puff a joint on their balcony then I guess there is nothing they can do

unless you've got money to burn then join away.

but I’m keen to have some respect for those who don’t want to be subjected to second-hand smoke, particularly children.

There were only two men in the gym and they both had the shirt off, which is not really what I want to look at in the gym and it's not hygienic, sweat dripping everywhere.

Guests leave cigarette ends and food remnants in the sand.

but when unexpected happens (rain on New Year's Eve) they push for the firework show where the local (sub) contractor given wet fuses had two young boys firing up the fireworks by hand, suffering from burns and hearing impediment with no health and safety consideration.

The kitchenette in #503 has a smell that i unable to describe (its like the exhaust dan broken and the smell stuck in the kitchenette), again #504 doesnt has this unpleasant smell and i use the kitchenette heavily (wash kids bottle and etc..) which i find it not very pleasant.

Also the sea there smelled like dead fish.

Bed had black marks everywhere and looked extremely dirty

Bathroom smelled foul and everything seemed very old and dated.

The sheets were horribly dirty, the bathroom stench made me want to vomit, there appeared to be semen stains on the chairs, our terrace bench didn’t have cushions because the they had bird poop on them.

If you care about noise / smell of construction, you may want to specify that before checking in.

Bathroom smelt bad had to get cleaners to come in and clean again when we checked in.

Views are breathing taking from both the balconies.

In many areas the smell and sight of the hotel premises will improve with proper cleaning sweeping and maintenance.

As we were both exhausted I asked if there was somewhere we could wait and were shown to a hospitality room which smelt like something had died in the air conditioning unit.

We stayed in a two bedroom villa - there was often a sewerage smell from the toilets which was annoying specially given we were paying such high price.

On the other hand, the price of the buffet and show was a bit high in terms of value for money.

Taxis from the hotel are expensive, in fact everything in the hotel is more expensive than outside.

Prices in the hotel were more expensive than Thailand averages

but are pricey to start with and then will have service and local gov tax added to them (so an extra 17%), you can get nowhere on foot as the hotel is a way out.

but they are quite expensive in comparison to other experiences we’ve had.

but the following night they could so I paid then the extra to get us out ASAP.

Sadly, a few of the issues, which could be (and I’m sure will be) remedied means it falls behind its 5* competitors which cost the same or less (such as Melia).

Leaving the feeling of haggling on a bazaar, when prices are fixed in the menus.

Bedsheets ripped and holes in duvets covers, when I’ve paid for a 2 bedroom pool villa I felt so disappointed.

We just decided not to bother, I didn’t want to pay for the repetitive food.

Please look elsewhere for that price - significantly better options for the same or even lower rate.

And the stay is very expensive I’m comparison to most other hotels on the island.

Drinks and food are a bit expensive we felt.

Breakfast very good, otherwise lunch and dinner a bit expensive for Thailand and also boring to eat there every day, because nothing going on there, excepting the barbecue evening and one or two other animation happenings;  they offer happy hour for cocktails at the pool.

you pay 105thb for a can of coke which you can get for 20thb in 7eleven.

Prana Spa is on the walk up from the beach and the 2 massages that we had were good , only detrimental thing that I have to say is the facility is poor after your massage has finished , you are taken back to the small air conditioned reception where your drink is waiting and then you are herded out as quickly as possible.

I urge you not to contribute to this activity - the poor elephants subjected to this cruelty for the enjoyment of selfish tourists.

We ordered two very expensive cocktails,  and they were very poor.

They have a poor interpretation of mediterranean food.

Due to the poor weather the management laid on some extra activities to keep guests entertained.

What are the people with the poor rating seeing that I and hundreds of other miss!?

but the choice on a evening was poor, which resulted in us having room service most nights.

We booked with Tonsai Bay based on tripadvisor recommendations and our near perfect stay was ruined by poor communication and poor customer service.

The food was wonderful, only had one poor meal in 10 days

The only slight negatives and I have to look very hard at being picky was I didnt rate Butlers Tapas at all (I thought the food was bland and poor value for money)

The bed linen and pillows are poor quality not as you would expect for 5 stars.

Room was gloomy, dated, had poor lighting and, as we discovered that night ,  a very noisy a/c unit.

but visibility poor (less than to 1 foot) during this time of the year.

but not luxurious - bed was hard, mould in shower and very poor lighting.

We went to the Christmas event and the food was honestly quite poor, it's not probably what Chef Chom's normally serves

Room are cleaned daily and kept spotless and also they come to your room in the evening and get your beds ready for you for bed time, they also leave you little cookies in jars too, such a nice touch.

Tang in Chef Choms & Ravi our amazing maid, who ensured our room was spotless, as well as Mark for making us feel so welcome (even if you are a Man U supporter Mark! lol).

Our room looked like a private tropical bungalow, from our private entrance way a beautifully furnished clean room, our own private pool overlooking a postcard esque scene.

The room has been kept spotlessly clean and the biscuits and fresh fruits are a real treat!

Additionally, we found the cost of traveling in Samui a bit higher compared to nearby areas.

I wouldn't recommend  if they paid me and will never return!

PS - Please make sure you take advantage of the free shuttles that take you to Cheweng and Fisherman's village, They com in very handy for a place like Koh samui where the taxi is expensive.

Caution, a hotel with a crazy view, beyond that they have a lot to improve, poor service, compared to the expensive price they demand for a room, there is no option to get to the room with a scooter rented by the hotel, only by mini golf, which sometimes you have to wait 10 minutes fifteen minutes, Apologizing is not their problem,

W Hotels Koh Samui is overpriced and does not deserve its five star status.

Zero service (the staff doesn’t care at all), poor maintenance if the beach area .the food was not good and overpriced.

For the amount of money that you pay in w hotel - consider other hotels , the competition of luxury hotel in koi samui is stiffed - the W hotel is just not worth it - the location , service , the hardware itself just below average at best

F&B prices are not included tax and service charge so it’s hard to do calculations when we wanna apply resort credit.

Regarding the menu it was not that great unfortunately, inferior to other hotels in this price range and it was too western-oriented in my opinion.

Of course I contacted the the management and paid for a new one - once again, my apologies for any hussle I might have caused!!

We found this to be good value for money as the food can be quite expensive.

I think if you are charging international 5 star prices for food and drinks, then a level of English is required and also a knowledge of the menu, or understanding of what a Bourbon and Coke is?

On a value test, the resort fails to deliver with an average room rate of circa €500 a night for a base jungle villa without any Seaview.

Not sure I would stay again - the W is one of the priciest options on the island and while the service was excellent its hard to justify the price tag when you could get much more impressive views at other hotels for the same price or less (e.g.

This afternoon we arrived at the W hotel for birthday drinks and lunch, having travelled from Le Meridian, Lamai, only to be told (before we’d even stepped out of the car) that we’d need to pay 2000 bht entry just to set foot on the property.

Lobby, grounds, facilities and guest room are all impeccable and flawless.

Although the rooms were very clean, I found a cockroach on the desk.

The room was immaculate, great view and had everything we could have wanted.

The room attendants both in the morning and turndown were very punctual (kept to our requested schedule) and kept the room very clean for us.

The sand on the beach is course and the main pool area had very little atmosphere during the day.The positives were the staff who were pleasant, the cleanliness of the rooms and the sweet bars which were set up around the villas and free for you to eat from.

I paid over 3500 bath (more than I pay in Norway)  to fix my nails.

Taxi cost is about 400 Thai Baht o $10. USD

They don't receive usd or another ususal cash.

The price of the taxi is overpriced as well .

Horrible place to stay and I wish we can get our money back cause with this price they can buy bed sheets for all the rooms !! !

They should upgrade the lobby and the prices in the main restaurant are western prices.

we ended up with very well priced tickets on Bangkok Airways and a 6 nights holiday in Koh Samui- low season still.
