The staff was great from breakfast, to the pool and beach staff, to the restaurant and front desk staff.

Highlights were the breakfast and the beautiful vistas and the half moon pool, which we had to ourselves most of the time.

Breakfast at RHOY RHOY restaurant, the foods was great, really selection, and good quality.

There were other issues as well, such as calling for the buggy and them forgetting our order, so we ended up waiting for 15 minutes in the dark at the hotel entrance.

Rooms are very dark and there are different levels - a fall risk for sure for elderly / infirm guests.

The only negatives are those mentioned by others ie not a sandy beach and some rooms are a bit dark with all the dark wood.

That said, they are quite dark and could do with a refresh, the bathroom area is much more modern feeling.

I found that the sea view suites were dark inside and our one had damage to the wooden floor.

but it's down a dark and windy road which we wouldn't have felt comfortable walking.

The steps are dark wood, at different angles and fairly hazardous especially if you don't turn on the under stairs lights.

Really underwhelming experience.The front of house staff were disengaged and when we asked to move rooms we were informed there was no refund as we were downgrading (no interest in why we asked to be moved - our room was dark, mosquito infested and isolated ).

Heard that The Tongsai Bay hotel is the oldest hotel in Koh Samui - truthfully the furniture, dark cherry colored wooden floor.

If you decent to rent a car during any portion of your trip and aren't familiar with the island, try to get back before nightfall as it is a tad bit difficult to navigate the roads surrounding after dark.

I felt the villa was somewhat dark and the steps could use a nightlight.

But maybe a little be dark (what is not so bad after sunbathing).

We couldn't see anything beyond the balcony in the dark only to wake up to PARADISE!

The wood inside the room is dark,however this is the style of the area. Restaurants.

What comes to rooms - basically the only option is villas (beachfront suites small and ugly, cottage suite with really bad location, bad a/c system, tiny and dark) But when you consider villas, you end up with such prices that you'd better go to Four Seasons/Banyan tree or Six senses - where you will get 100% 5 stars guaranteed services.

The beachfront rooms overlooked the pool and had a sweeping view of the beautiful private beach and of the sunrise.

The resort  was top notch in every aspect from the stunning views , super breakfast with special anniversary /birthday and bon voyage plated treats  , free coffee/tea area / , private beach , pool area and of course the ever friendly and helpful staff .

The private infinity pool and outdoor jacuzzi provided a perfect spot to unwind while taking in the breathtaking beach views and mesmerizing sunrises.

insane value, probably the best beach in Samui (private beach where you can actually swim) , everyone from the staff was top level (from the beach boy , to breakfast/restaurants staff, porters , front desk and managers - can’t name one as all of them were outstanding).

I had Phad Thai and Half Chicken that was one of the best Phad Thai I have ever had.

The Thai food is one of the best I ever had, they had a mangosteen dinner meal that week and it was mind blowing.

Dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Po-Lad Beach Bistro & Bar, was a culinary journey that celebrated Thai and international flavors with a commitment to sustainable sourcing.

We did a lovely beach bbq one of the nights, a traditional Thai dance dinner another,  that was magical and movie night under the stars was also really special for the kids.

From a mouthwatering seafood barbecue one night to an unforgettable dinner of local Thai street food accompanied by a mesmerizing Thai dance performance, every meal was a delight.

With some interesting twists on some Thai classics, they also have a wide range of dishes to choose from to keep us going back.

Breakfast has a rich selection of fruits and juices (amazing and prepared fresh in real time), eggs, Thai dishes, breads and pastries.

Thai street food night was a lovely new addition, entertainment just right and happily sat drinking soaking it all up.

The Thai street food nights at Rhoy Rhoy were a lovely addition to each week, and the beach bbq on our first night was not to be missed.

The hotel also hosted a Thai street food buffet with Thai music and dancers which was another great experience.

Mark, the hotel manager, who I had already chatted to about cycling around Koi Samui did everything he could to assist with my wife and explaining how Thai processes work.

Here you will find a great variety of bars ,restaurants, Steakhouses ,Italian pasta / pizza  or Thai and Seafood speciality .

Fish tails offers a mixture of fusion and Thai fish, meat and vegetarian dishes and Rhoy Rhoy excellent Thai dishes; we highly recommend both restaurants.

You have Bophut Beach to greet you mere steps away.

but the staff provided shower curtains so that was fine :) The sand on Bophut beach is a bit grainy and the sea is not great so we mostly spent our time in the pool which is absolutely amazing - big with lots of loungers around so finding a place was never a problem.

The room looks directly to Bophut beach, which is a pretty quiet beach compared with others in the island and you can even hear the sound of the waves after sunset.

The Superlatives:
1) The resort is located right on the Bophut Beach, a short drive from the airport and immediately to the west of the Fisherman's Village.

The infinity pool was amazing - right behind a part of the Bophut beach that's semi-private.

We stayed 6 nights at Hansar Samui resort, a luxury hotel by the Bophut Beach, just off the so- called fisherman's Village which a nice pedestrian area.

The Hansar is in a nice location on Bophut beach, just down from the Fisherman's Village, where you'll find an ample amount of shops, bars, and restaurants.

but at the same time has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and things to do (many tour companies operate directly out of Bophut beach)

The pool is the best on Bophut beach and screams vacation.

Location: On the end of the main road in Bophut beach, so it was very walkable to lots of restaurants, bars, spas, shopping.

All in all a good choice in Bophut beach.

What i least liked was Bophut beach: sand is rough and thick, and the colour of the sea is nothing extraordinary

The Hansar is a large, modern complex with a good pool on Bophut Beach (in my opinion the worst beach I've been to in Thailand - very coarse, gritty sand, not suitable for walking on barefoot).

Hansar Bophut is without a doubt the best located resort on Bophut beach.

); all meals we had on site were delish, including a romantic supper in the signature restaurant

Location: Bophut Beach by the Fisherman's Village- not busy like Chewang Beach

A truly delicious way to learn the culinary art of Thai cooking.

The resort is well maintained, the beach in front of the resort is nice and the breakfast is good.

The breakfast buffet has everything you could want and more.

Pool was large and very clean , lots of loungers and plentiful supply of towels - property is centrally located at fisherman’s village and has easy access to lots of very good restaurants and bars located 100 metres from the resort

Service at breakfast was also highly commendable.

We loved the cook to order egg and coffee menu that personalized what you needed.

Breakfast is good, continental and service throughout is very friendly.

The food was good, good choices, good quality and delicious.

Small improvement on the breakfast like natural orange juice will make this place one of the best in the world.

During the check-in the staff noticed that the day after would be our birthday (my gf's and mine) and so the staff surprised us with two birthday cakes at the breakfast on the day.

A good breakfast selection, I always went back for seconds!

The food was exceptionally good in the morning for breakfast and in the evening, my wife has a gluten-free diet and they looked after her very well during our stay.

Rich and varied breakfasts and a personal attention from Meow, who is in-charge of the customer’s experience, which makes each guest feel as the most important guest.

The food there is ok and we would have welcomed more variety at the breakfast buffet

They accommodated our vegan breakfast every morning and provided great care and attention to detail.

The hotel layout is not to my liking as well as not giving any sense of seclusion and privacy.

Although they have put both a sheer curtain and a blockout curtain on the balcony windows to try and account for others looking in, people can still see through the sheer curtain so the blockout was required for privacy.

Cons:
- Beach sand is very granular and so squishy it’s nearly impossible to walk on for very long
- Our mattress was much too soft and we both had back aches by the end
- Breakfast service can be slow and the language issues confuses the order sometimes 
- Because of the glass walls around your shower and toilet, don’t expect too much privacy.

but if you are travelling with kid(s), housekeeping can install a temporary curtain for privacy.

I supposed the only complain I have would be the open concept shower where there is neither door nor shower curtain to keep your privacy.

The only slight negative about the rooms, and bear in mind that I can only speak for the two rooms that we had on the top floor, was that there is almost zero privacy in the bathroom.

And if you like privacy when you shower then this definitely isn't for you - it is open to the front and glassed with only a rudimentary attempt at a curtain around the glass.

The inclusion of the bathroom in the room is very strange - it is open and the shower and toilet have glass walls which leaves you with little privacy sitting on the loo when your partner is still in bed!

The only thing is that there is little privacy and it's a very big and open hotel with rows and rows of day beds.

Not much privacy if you were a family or with friends

although not a biz road, still you don't have the privacy.

If possible, book the second floor rooms for the better view and a bit more privacy from passing foot traffic.

Just be aware that the toilet is open to the room, so if you are the type that needs privacy perhaps look at other rooms.

ME and my husband visited this hotel in February 2016 and after discovering the island decoded to stay all ou time there, because there was no better place:
clean, new, cool rooms (go for the not bathtub one - it will make the room to wet) ideal get the room in first floor (not to much running up and down + you get more privacy.

The room on ground floor seems to be lack of privacy, Upper lever rooms have a ocean view.

Downside, bedroom can see through the shower room which left no privacy.

So when you open the front door of the room, you can literally see/walk straight into the shower - the maids rang the bell on 3 occasions whilst one of us was in the shower, and we had to mad dash to get covered as there is zero privacy!

My only issue with the rooms are that the shower and water closet have glass windows that make it "open" to the room resulting in no privacy.

Not much privacy on the toilet or shower, no curtains or barriers for the shower and a small barrier for the toilet.

Dont stay in rooms in The ground floor: they are very humid And full of mosquitos, not to mention dark And The lack of privacy
Finally, They have 4 or 5 massive big satellite antenas just next to The rooms on The reception side.

The room smelled musty, as many other reviewers have noted….this really seems to be a problem at this resort, and it doesn’t seem to be something that they can fix, as complaints about the smell in the rooms go back many years.

This time the room smells musty so we had to request the air fresher.

On the beach and at the pool you will sometimes be disturbed by jet-ski’s, noisy and smelly,

Hence, non-smokers sitting outdoors had to inhale tobacco smoke if they were seated downwind of smokers.

From the amazing views from rooms to service, its hard to fault anything, if I really have to nit-pick maybe the fact that - despite amazing fresh softener-scented towels - my pillow cases didnt smell as crisp as I’d like, one if the pillow case had a slight moldy smell,

Both my parents’ and my room stunk of mould.

And you can smoke there, if you're a smoker. Pool.

The room & bed sheets smelt musky from mould.

He did not seem to understand what we meant when we said it smelled moldy

Some of the rooms on my second stay were suffering with damp smell,

There were just two things that the hotel slip a little the first is the wifi the signal is very poor no matter where you are and the second is that at certain times in the night the drains would smell slightly nothing major

although the smell of damp was quite strong.

I have read from other reviews to avoid the first floor (damp and mosquitoes).

The only significant issue was the level of dampness in the room (as mentioned in other TA reviews).

The first room had a penetrating moldy smell not uncommon in seafront properties.

If you don't know it - nobody offer you;
- rooms are strange - totally transparent, a little smelly, good for couple

Our interactions evoked a feeling of nostalgia like visiting relatives after a long time away.

The translation of Hansar was true….Happiness and Joy, and I hope to visit you again in the future.

During our stay, they helped with shopping and a visit to the local hospital for health checks so we could fly home.

Once upon a time we have decided to visit the Koh Samui Island.

November was an ideal time to visit as the whole resort was quiet & we could get tables in restaurants without a problem.

Had a great day visiting this resort and spend a very good time.

I visited Samui few times and this hotel is by far the nicest of the island.

This is my 4th visit to this lovely hotel in the last 3 years and they did not disappoint.

The food was delicious—highly recommend the Thai cooking class with local market visit you can book to do with the head chef!

It was our second visit in 4 years to Hansar.

We liked the hotel on our first visit in June 2017, Mainly due to its close location to Fishermans Village.

This as my 3rd visit to Hansar and as always is was perfect.

but it was the service that turned our visit from a 4 to a 5!! !

Dome on the bar works so so hard , he is a treasure and an asset to any business

We normally have breakfast early, and then go for a 5+ mile walk on the beach, which is clean and safe.

Breakfast was plentiful with choices for most nationalities and a great opportunity to try something different.

The location was good and hotel was clean, food for breakfast was average and pool was good, beach was a challenging walk to the end.

Huge array of fruit, cooked breakfast, cereals, pastries, thai noodles, Indian curries, even crumble.

Very good and the service is great

The team were fabulous, accommodating, knowledgeable, the rooms very sizeable, the breakfast was delicious with so much on offer, the food in general was top notch, and the amenities and cleanliness of the resort were A1!

As always, the breakfasts were a superb offering with something to satisfy everyone.

Breakfast cannot be faulted so much choice with tea and coffee on tap.
