We were charged $20 per night for a housekeeping tip and the housekeepers never entered our room.

It’s very basic: scrambled eggs; sausage/bacon; and pancakes - and the hotel charges for it.

However, he was then asked for his email address, when he was then asked for his credit card number (the hotel had already received our deposit and an imprint of our credit card); my husband lost patience and terminated the conversation.

We were charged $3454.00 for three nights for this “suite”.

but also gave us a $250 room credit for another visit.

I just do not understand how this hotel can charge $560 for a room in the off season and treat the customers so badly.

To charge such high rates and then insult the customer by adding a suggested gratuity is ridiculous.

The other annoying thing is the fact that they actually charged our account $1450.00 days before we even arrived.

For a resort that prides itself on luxury, could not really identify any element that you would usually expect at a place charging these kind of prices.

but they don't tell you that there is a delivery charge and gratuity included so what we thought was a $36 breakfast plus our $4 cash tip turned out to be a $52 breakfast for 1 order of french toast, 1 order of bacon, 1 order of toast, 1 order of home fries and 2 coffees.

I almost fell over when they demanded to put a $2080.00 "hold" on my credit card for a stay where the total cost was $2,100.00 and half was prepaid.

They charge $15 per day for use of their chargers.

The charge was $50, which was a bit much.

For what they charge, they need to fluff up everything except the staff.

One gripe was the WiFi - its slow and they charge you after two devices - c’mon - its 2019 and the place is not inexpensive - knock off the nickel and dime business.

Are the cleaning people really getting this or is it a hidden add on charge for the hotel.

But when I stayed In April, I left my debit card in my spa robe and I had no idea I had left it.

The manager graciously agreed to immediately credit our credit card.

On the back of the key card you can read if you need any thing please let the front desk know.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff.

Check in was easy and the front desk staff, professional and friendly.

It needs a major renovation for the room rate they are asking at almost $700 a night.

The meal was overpriced for what was presented.

but the breakfast buffet is average at best and way overpriced.

On top of it, if you want regular eggs or an omelette, you have to pay extra.

but not only is it not, there are no a la carte options- you must pay for the full buffet and if you want something else such as an omelette (which isn’t offered on the buffet), you need to pay for the buffet and then an additional price for the omelette even if you don’t touch the buffet.

We paid $3454.00 for one night - it’s infuriating.

For the price we paid, I expected something that would wow me when I walked in the room.

this inn was so disappointing and so very expensive for that quality.

but breakfast is too basic, at least take yogurt out of the store container and serve it on a plate for that price..
Our room was not there when we arrived.

For $725.00(not including tax) per night, you would expect it to be less noisy.

Coming for peak Fall color, I know we paid a premium.

For example, each room has its own fresh air intake instead of sharing a central HVAC system, and much attention has been paid to air sanitization in public spaces to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff.

This place was the worst place we stayed and the most expensive by nearly $100.

No real plates no real flatware ,but still priced like it was real room service.

I don't know if its the scenery or staffs or amenities or inroom balcony or lack of resort fees,

Furthermore we stayed two nights and received zero housekeeping the second day with the one tiny trash can in the room overflowing yet you pay the same rate regardless.

The don’t want you to use your car alarm and if you do you have to pay if it disturbs another guest!?!?

Short of it is, overpriced and better options in the area.

It's the kind of place where you can roll in after a day of exploring, kick off your shoes, and enjoy.

Front desk is always there to help, room service  every day, food delivery to your room is possible straight from The cottage or The View.

The service was honestly exceptional, the admins at the desk were knowledgeable not only about everything anybody would ever need to know about the hotel

From the minute you walk in the staff greeting is top tier until the minute you leave.

I would rate the spa and the spa employees 5/5.

Can't leave out a nod to the wonderful staff and management that make the Mirror Lake Inn a can't miss destination for a truly wonderful getaway.

It was a joy to work with such professionals.

Facilities, staff, amenities all of the highest quality.

Beautiful grounds and gardens, amazing views (colonial house faces straight down the lake looking southeast at the high peaks), terrific service at all the facilities we used- front desk, boathouse, breakfast.

We loved the hotel;  the lobby is gorgeous and inviting with many sitting areas, our room was lovely with a gorgeous view, the dock area is beautiful and the staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful.

We knew as we drove up the drive to the welcoming festive lights that we were in for a spectacular weekend.

You will not be disappointed with: Lisa G’s (very family friendly); Caffe Rustica; Purple Saige Bistro; Fiddlehead Bistro (Saranac Lake) or Smoke Signals.

On one occasion my nurse practitioner was trying to get hold of me (cell service in LP is spotty). She called the hotel. "

Wifi only allows 2 connections, then you have to pay an additional charge.

WiFi policy dates back 10 years, with high prices and limited MBs.

Only two devices can be on-line at a time, though, as an upgrade you can get more.

(They no longer charge for basic internet service).

It seems outrageous that this hotel wants to charge you extra (around $14/day) for fast internet and adds in a "suggested gratuity" per day  on your bill.

Only room for improvement is re the pool when empty, awkward to do lengths due to lane rope dividing the pool , and, the limit on 2 wifi users per room - which was very frustrating

Small refrigerator, safe, cable tv and radio/ sound machine, there is an extra charge for internet usage.

I think they should have been offered something more than complimentary internet

but to add insult to that, they charged for the Wifi.

I've read many reviews of this Inn where people have complained of paying for secure Internet and breakfast

I was tempted to make a point and tell them to strike off gratuity for my last night and then buy the wifi package -

Not so welcome is an added wifi expense which seems just ridiculous  when one considers the price of staying here.

but you are going to charge me for wi-fi?

I would have given it the five stars that it deserves, except for the fact that it charges for Wi-Fi, which I find to be quite annoying.

Wi-fi was an extra $15 for the week for 5 devices.

A huge plus for me was that the bathroom had both a vent and airflow with temperature control!

If this will bother you, you may want to ask for an end unit.

The one night I went to the pool, the hot tub heater was broken.

but the a/c was too loud and made the room way too cold anyway.

This is a very rustic setting with heating/cooling units that turn on & off all night, a bathtub/shower combo with a high lip, no clocks and a poor use of living space with only 2 chairs in the 2 rooms.

The heater, when turned on, smelled like burning hair.

however it is very loud when on the outside balcony, as the two-person balcony is very small and the unit sits between the two chairs. 6.

but only until 11 - was a rather loud group around the outdoor fire - which was right below our room - with their personal music (people always amaze me when they act like a hotel is their private back yard) - but turning the air con on drowned that out.

but the AC sounded like a jet engine and was annoying at night.

I walked by a maid in a room cleaning a vent.

Only issue was with air conditioning and the hotel management took care of my issues and concerns at checkout.

There are TV's on the walls and the ceiling is equipped with fans.

We slept with the air conditioner on all night instead of enjoying an open door to the lake due to the noise level both inside and outside the hotel.

I realize the pool is in a different building etc and there’s a wall AC unit that was a little loud

One major con: the air conditioning in the room was the noisiest I’ve ever heard and it made it difficult to sleep.

The a/c unit was LOUD, woke us up every time it kicked on.

The heaters are so loud when they switch on and off that it woke us up throughout the night.

The next thing I noticed was that our toilet paper holder was affixed to the sink partially secured by duct tape.

They didn't have 2 of the drinks on their menu and the patio heaters were not working.

Friendly, helpful, service, great people, great execution of all services.

Everyone we encountered on staff was so friendly and willing to help us have the best stay possible.

The hotel is perfectly located and centralized in its proximity to everything downtown Lake Placid…, as such it’s likely because of this that while the main staff are friendly and accommodating— management seems policy and rule driven.

The staff was excellent, good location, the place appeared clean and the room we stayed in was just recently renovated.

Lakeside view has a deep set private balcony, so you can just sit back and relax without having to interact with your neighbor in the next room.

The young ladies at the front desk and bar tenders are FABULOUS…I would give them 5 stars ALL DAY.

I guess after years of catering to large teams-  the woman owned proprietor forgot Lake Placid is a venue for sports teams and collaborators.

Lisa at the front desk is a gem and we enjoyed seeing her each day.

My only issue was the noise of the AC unit.

The air conditioning unit could not be set below 70 degrees - and it was also very noisy - which made for a poor nights’ sleep, so “2”.

I suspect the unit on the room door was defective or in need of new batteries.

The only small issue that we faced during our stay was the very noisy air conditioning in the room.

The rooms are a little outdated and there was no fan in the bathroom for when you showered.

so for the not so good stuff : the AC is loud!

The saying goes that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease",

Although this hotel is located in a great area, it has many anoying features, noisy airconditioning, odd furniture everywhere - looks like it was decorated from a surplus furniture store, poor cleaning service, noise from other rooms.. . .

The main downside is that the AC is noisy; we switched it off overnight, leading to somewhat warm nights.

The beds are comfortable, and I like that you can adjust the room temperature -- not just a window unit with varying degrees of cold air blowing on you, like many hotels.

The one downfall, which I did read in other reviews, was that the air conditioner in the room was very loud (we were in room 507)!

Unfortunately, the air conditioning/heating system is so incredibly, almost comically loud, we had trouble sleeping.

It’s no secret that I’m a Hampton fan.

Only minor issues were rather loud heating and bath tub that did not fill up

The air conditioner had a tendency to be on the noisy side though.

The location is within walking distance to  the Olympic attractions, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly.

Phone charger did not work in bedside table too loose of a connection.

We were not recognized as Diamond Members by front desk, save a message through the mobile app to which I received no reply when I asked for assistance.

Michelle promised a refund and Isabella promised return calls neither have happened.

Had a very frustrating time making a phone reservation because of the language barrier.

I asked for the phone number of the vendor at the end of the transaction.

The person that I spoke with over the phone told us that some of the even numbered balcony rooms have a partial lake view with trees blocking the full lake, so rather than mislead customers, they just don’t list lake view at all.

I tried to call both the desk and housekeeping

but our room was not available however the front desk placed us on a priority list took our cell number and contacted us a short time later great customer service.

Had to call multiple times over a 90 minute period and I let it ring, and ring, and ring, and ring. 14.

I got call that I was going to be a no show.

I felt terrible for the student hire forced to answer calls while trying to just about everything else.

i would call it a large room with a divider in the middle, not really a suite.

She said I didn't know I have to call and I am sorry.

She wasn't trained on when to call the police and she had no idea how to deal with this situation.

I  call it gouging not supply and demand!

Thank you to the front desk, breakfast staff and management for wonderful stay.

Overall, though, we appreciated the staff and the easy access of this hotel.

but had not stayed and was pleasantly surprised by the facility, staff, and cleanliness of the hotel.

but enough to start the day 
we would recommend this hotel to anyone as such kind service with all staff.

We arrived a few hours before check in and Ozzy was so kind and accommodating!

The staff was very kind and we enjoyed using the hot tub.

The staff was helpful with any questions and requests.

All the front desk staff are from other counties like Mexico and Jamaica with amazing work ethic  and attitude.

but this place is charging Ritz prices for a very outdated, dingy interior.

It did not feel like anyone is in charge and you see dirty dinner dishes in the hallway, service doors wide open throughout the day and an exercise area that was just adequate.

I’m not sure id pay the extra charge for a premier room again.

Beware of the "hidden" resort fee charge that did not show up on our reservation information.

When we stayed here the hotel charged us a 'resort fee'.

I could not see spending the amount of money they were charging and not getting the room we wanted.

Being charged for a room when we left under such conditions is wrong.

There are no outlets near the bed and we had to unplug all the lamps to use those outlets to charge our phones at night.

Unfortunately one dumb guy behind the front desk who reprograms peoples card keys who are so drunk they have forgotten what room they are in without checking id will have unfortunate consequences.
