My only issue was the noise of the AC unit.

The air conditioning unit could not be set below 70 degrees - and it was also very noisy - which made for a poor nights’ sleep, so “2”.

I suspect the unit on the room door was defective or in need of new batteries.

The only small issue that we faced during our stay was the very noisy air conditioning in the room.

The rooms are a little outdated and there was no fan in the bathroom for when you showered.

so for the not so good stuff : the AC is loud!

The saying goes that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease",

Although this hotel is located in a great area, it has many anoying features, noisy airconditioning, odd furniture everywhere - looks like it was decorated from a surplus furniture store, poor cleaning service, noise from other rooms.. . .

The main downside is that the AC is noisy; we switched it off overnight, leading to somewhat warm nights.

The beds are comfortable, and I like that you can adjust the room temperature -- not just a window unit with varying degrees of cold air blowing on you, like many hotels.

The one downfall, which I did read in other reviews, was that the air conditioner in the room was very loud (we were in room 507)!

Unfortunately, the air conditioning/heating system is so incredibly, almost comically loud, we had trouble sleeping.

It’s no secret that I’m a Hampton fan.

Only minor issues were rather loud heating and bath tub that did not fill up

The air conditioner had a tendency to be on the noisy side though.

Phone charger did not work in bedside table too loose of a connection.

We were not recognized as Diamond Members by front desk, save a message through the mobile app to which I received no reply when I asked for assistance.

Michelle promised a refund and Isabella promised return calls neither have happened.

Had a very frustrating time making a phone reservation because of the language barrier.

I asked for the phone number of the vendor at the end of the transaction.

The person that I spoke with over the phone told us that some of the even numbered balcony rooms have a partial lake view with trees blocking the full lake, so rather than mislead customers, they just don’t list lake view at all.

I tried to call both the desk and housekeeping

but our room was not available however the front desk placed us on a priority list took our cell number and contacted us a short time later great customer service.

Had to call multiple times over a 90 minute period and I let it ring, and ring, and ring, and ring. 14.

I got call that I was going to be a no show.

I felt terrible for the student hire forced to answer calls while trying to just about everything else.

i would call it a large room with a divider in the middle, not really a suite.

She said I didn't know I have to call and I am sorry.

She wasn't trained on when to call the police and she had no idea how to deal with this situation.

I  call it gouging not supply and demand!

comfortable, clean rooms; beds great; lots of linens; coffee and tea available 24 hours; staying for 3 nights to revisit Lake Placid after too many years away; breakfast had good selection including healthy hot cereal with fresh blueberries and raspberries and skim milk.

Breakfast was plentiful and rooms were clean and up to date.

The location is within walking distance to  the Olympic attractions, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly.

Swimming pool was freezing way colder than the stated 80F.

A/c had an issue floor in about one fourth was soaked wet, maintenance came to check on second day and never came back.

Upon entering the room, we immediately began shivering, and when I checked the thermostat, I found that it was set to 62.

The room was average with the patio a bit run down and dripping from the air conditioner from above.

Our first balcony was a little noisy with the air conditioner system nearby.

The air conditioning unit was too loud to sleep with (not unusual) so we turned it off and were then just left with diving noises and loud shireking from the pool until nearly 10pm.

Front desk sent extra blankets and offered a space heater for the night.

The room's air conditioning was also very loud - reminiscent of an industrial fan, which wakes you up every time it switched on during the night.

The only downside was a loud air conditioner in the room.

The units should be separated just like smoking units.

He had a terrible and dismissive attitude and just blew it off and they charged me the maximum rate (I would have stayed elsewhere or at least booked through HotelTonight if I had known this when we inquired).

The exhaust fan was almost non-existent, so the mirror was useless for 10 minutes after a shower until the rain stopped.

Was up with friends for a hockey tournament in April (where the temperature was a balmy 20 degrees with freezing rain and snow. .).

The only issue we had was the heater trying to get the room temp constant and the heater sounded like a jet engine taking off.

Old school wall heater blasts cold air then finely changes to warm and is noisy.

If I were being picky, my only complaints are the air conditioning unit in the room was a little loud when it clicked on and there is no vent fan int the bathroom, both of those issues probably can't be fixed at this point.

Rest room fan did not work, Sitting area was bookended by two air conditioning units that dripped water and roared on through our attempt to converse.

A stale smell masked with fragranced cleaning products.

The lobby and the lower floor was never quiet.

The only major complaint that we have is that when checking out the lady behind the counter was coughing non stop.

One note though, if you are there on a huge weekend event like Ironman or during a youth hockey tournament, I would expect a little more noise of kids running around from room to room.

Brought both issues to booking agents attention and the lack of care or understanding was disturbing.

Seems to get a lot of youth sports teams, so some halls can be a bit noisy depending on where they place you.

The walls were not soundproofed enough to minimize the normal speaking in the adjacent room.

The fireplace was underwhelming and noisy.

We were tired, a little frustrated, and anxious about where we were going to spend the night. After an initial misstart with a room that wasn't quite what we were looking for, we were located in a beautiful (and quiet!)

You could hear them running through the hallways all night long.

The only complaint -- and I wouldn't even label it as a complaint -- is that the fire alarm went off on new years eve around 10 p.m. for a very quick period of time (two or three very loud chirps).

.the noise and puppy barking was very loud and caused our dog to be very curious instead of him being calm.

A dangerous and unruly evening in the pool, banging on our door by running group of teens, and loud conversation in our corridor at 12:30am.

My biggest issue with this hotel is that you can hear everything and it is not very sound proof.

The next morning, we saw the same waiters, still coughing and looking ill, working in the dining room.

Had to turn jets off to make somewhat enjoyable.

The Hotel staff are all very pleasant, the rooms are clean with comfortable beds.

Most IHG hotels provide excellent service, well-appointed rooms at a competitive price.

We frequent IHG properties including Crowne Plaza's and while the views are absolutely outstanding and the rooms are clean the hotel has a much more Holiday Inn feel and service level then a Crowne.

A huge plus for me was that the bathroom had both a vent and airflow with temperature control!

If this will bother you, you may want to ask for an end unit.

The one night I went to the pool, the hot tub heater was broken.

but the a/c was too loud and made the room way too cold anyway.

This is a very rustic setting with heating/cooling units that turn on & off all night, a bathtub/shower combo with a high lip, no clocks and a poor use of living space with only 2 chairs in the 2 rooms.

The heater, when turned on, smelled like burning hair.

however it is very loud when on the outside balcony, as the two-person balcony is very small and the unit sits between the two chairs. 6.

but only until 11 - was a rather loud group around the outdoor fire - which was right below our room - with their personal music (people always amaze me when they act like a hotel is their private back yard) - but turning the air con on drowned that out.

but the AC sounded like a jet engine and was annoying at night.

I walked by a maid in a room cleaning a vent.

Only issue was with air conditioning and the hotel management took care of my issues and concerns at checkout.

There are TV's on the walls and the ceiling is equipped with fans.

We slept with the air conditioner on all night instead of enjoying an open door to the lake due to the noise level both inside and outside the hotel.

One major con: the air conditioning in the room was the noisiest I’ve ever heard and it made it difficult to sleep.

The a/c unit was LOUD, woke us up every time it kicked on.

The heaters are so loud when they switch on and off that it woke us up throughout the night.

The next thing I noticed was that our toilet paper holder was affixed to the sink partially secured by duct tape.

They didn't have 2 of the drinks on their menu and the patio heaters were not working.

but this place is charging Ritz prices for a very outdated, dingy interior.

It did not feel like anyone is in charge and you see dirty dinner dishes in the hallway, service doors wide open throughout the day and an exercise area that was just adequate.

I’m not sure id pay the extra charge for a premier room again.

Beware of the "hidden" resort fee charge that did not show up on our reservation information.

When we stayed here the hotel charged us a 'resort fee'.

I could not see spending the amount of money they were charging and not getting the room we wanted.

Being charged for a room when we left under such conditions is wrong.

There are no outlets near the bed and we had to unplug all the lamps to use those outlets to charge our phones at night.

Unfortunately one dumb guy behind the front desk who reprograms peoples card keys who are so drunk they have forgotten what room they are in without checking id will have unfortunate consequences.

Third, I had to give them $50 on my credit card for a fully paid room "just in case".

Time to do something with this property beyond charging high prices and fees for what amounts to a motel grade experience.

However a day after checkout my card was charged an additional $50 for a mandatory resort fee.

but my calls were not answered and I was still charged $400!

By the time the weekend was over, they charged me for the full stay!

It will take two weeks for the second charge to be removed.” Uh.

We were a bit early and our room wasn't ready, so they did a pre-check-in and we got our parking pass and cards that we could use for the outdoor facilities.

After pointing it out to waitress, she told us there would be no charge for salad, and actually came across as nasty about it.

My driver's license, all my credit cards, debit cards and almost my whole life lost here.

Paddle boats and kayaks are available for use without additional charge.

From not having wash cloths , to no blankets in the room, & a hotel restaurant that doesn’t answer the phone; this place is I’ll prepared for customers who pay $500+/night.

I called & they told me someone would call me back.

The wi-fi was terrible, which was a challenge considering cell service in Lake Placid isn't great.

The only thing is the front couldn't find my reservation because my last name was first and the receptionist was difficult to understand bco her accent on the phone.

When I asked why we were never called, texted or even an email to be informed of this prior to us arriving, we were told that there should have been a call to us, unfortunately that didn't happen with no explanation as to why.

I needed a conference room for a client zoom call- was told no bc of Covid.

Finally, after I checked out, I did not receive my $50 back and by phone was told that Expedia would return the money less a RESORT FEE of $7.50 per day.

The front desk said they would try to phone the owner.

They just would not work at times - frustrating to have to call someone to let you into your room.

but they offered to call (and it was ready about 1/2 hour later) and offered keys to the pool.

The hotel manager also promptly return our calls the next day and followed up to locate the iPad magically.

So I call, and say please make sure only one charge goes through.

I am waiting for another call from the house keeping supervisor

We then proceeded to call the kitchen manager and he told us that he was sorry about the insect crawling on the lettuce,

I had to call the hotel so many times to get hold of the maintenance manager.

First room we were in emitted an odor from A/C unit when we attempted to increase the temperature, balcony had one metal chair and table and beer tops and pop rings on the ground from previous guests.

We booked over the phone and had some confusion over the phone as we did so.

I was just fortunate enough to call in the morning and then drive over to pick up tickets for the afternoon.

The room was clean and spacious, Staff was great, close to all the activities, we enjoyed the bobsled run just down the road and walking around mirror lake, we also had 2 dogs with us, and the hotel welcomed our dogs.

The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable the room was clean nicely put together the bathroom was great and we had a balcony view of the outdoor pool and grounds around it.

Our dog was welcomed with plenty of friendly greetings, a bandana, a cookie, and when we got to our (spotless room) there was a dog bed, and a food and water bowl.

In Clayton, NY that was half the price, was right on the water, spotless and the rooms were spectacular.

The views are amazing, the amenities are phenomenal, the rooms are very clean and comfortable, and you are in close proximity to everything in town.
