however it needs to be highlighted that the hotel is in need of an interior refurbishment, rooms are very run down - carpets worn, marble flooring cracked and discoloured - in its heyday it must have been spectacular!

You pay 5* prices for old furniture, bathrooms that hadn’t been updated since last century 90’s, a carpet smelling dust and signs  of wear and tear, lack of investment all over.

Rooms and common areas very tired,  paintwork was very tatty and the carpets so dirty we felt uncomfortable.

If the paintwork and carpet issues were addressed this would be an amazing hotel.

however the corridors and room are in dire need of refurbishment, no way in this condition could you say it is more than 2 star, worn carpets, room smelt damp and musky, such a shame as until this is completed we would not spend the money to stay here again.

Carpets are filthy and worn both in the rooms and in all corridors ive seem better 2 star hotels .

All rooms have very old carpets and there was visibly mold in the walls.

The Negative is the hotel needs to get rid of the carpet, which I am assuming has been down for quite a few years.

All fixtures were dated, carpet stains etc.

but had mould in the carpet (see pic).stained carpets and chipped paint and wood everywhere in hotel.

The first room that we have received on 11th August had a lot of dirty spots on the carpet as well was not smelling well.

but it’s looking very tiered rooms clean but in need of a refurbishment, carpet in room left a picture this is more 2 star at a push.

One Thing I dislike, is having carpets in the room!

but managed to get a room, the hotel is definitely in need of a spruce up, all the carpets in the public area were dirty, our room had a shower over the bath with a shower curtain not what you would expect in a 5*, for €210 for one night, the breakfast was fine, again food under lights and cold is not 5* to me.

but probably clean just that carpets, bathroom are getting tired and could do with a refurbishment.

This hotel is so very tired and needs a revamp big style, cracked tiles, stained carpets, chipped furniture and we booked deluxe rooms too!

The hallways have not seen any decoration in 2 decades at least the carpets probably not cleaned in that time also.. you find plug sockets hanging out the wall, fire extinguishers missing, chunks taken out of walls and cracks in the walls.

but some of the carpets in the corridors are def.

but also very friendly and smiley at all time.

Friendly  and efficient albeit apologetic and embarrassed about the food.

Can not fault the hotel reception staff pool bar staff and breakfast staff excellent friendly helpful service.

Small family run hotel, excellent personalized service, friendly staff, spacious tidy rooms, very quiet air condition, doule rooms with 2 kingsize beds, en-suite shower bath,  lift, served breakfast made to order, 3 bars, one on rooftop, shops and restaurants in walking distance, ideal for a getaway.

Wherever we went on the complex the staff were friendly and most helpful.

First & foremost, the staff are so friendly and helpful & genuinely welcome us back every time, particularly Mercedes and guest services Juan who help make our stay so enjoyable and relaxing.

The staff were mostly friendly and the clientele almost exclusively English families (as you'd expect in August).

The service was friendly and there were lots of staff.

We stayed in an executive suite, which was a very good sized room, views of the golf course (which is amazing and very well maintained).

Located in sumptuous greenery among three golf courses, surrounded by La Manga Club villas, restaurants and first class sports facilities, only 20 minutes from nearby Mar Menor lagoon, real estate cannot be beaten.

The rooms were nice with good views over the golf course to the sea.

we played all three golf courses all of which were in excellent condition, just fabulous.

Golf practice facilities are great, loads of space and everything you need, this is the main plus of the location.

I have been to La Manga (to play golf) on numerous occasions

Sadly it's now become a venue for lads golf trips so don't go expecting a nice quiet family retreat in 5* luxury.

In general I would return for the golf which we enjoyed as a large group.

but I must say we had an enjoyable and relaxing stay in this hotel set amongst beautiful garden areas and golf courses.

We were on a golfing stay with Golf Breks.

We availed of a few rounds of golf while there and again the courtesy of all staff in the Golf Courses was again exceptional.

The hotel was a pleasure to stay in with excellent food and the 3 different golf courses a challenge for all standards.

Perfect Resort to early start of our golf season (Nordic senior citizens)  .

La Manga Club may not be the best hotel or golf courses or spa or beaches in the world,

Boys were pleased with golfing side, professional and everything they needed.

The facilities were top notch, the kids club (half days only) was great, the kids loved it, we also played mini golf, pitch and putt, tennis, swam in both the spa pool and the outdoor pool (though a little chilly in October - it would be great if it were heated) and had a footy kickabout.

Spent 4 days as last year here..great for children doing so many activities

We have been to La Manga before with one of our teenage sons and he loved it so this year we took his friend and they had a great time playing Tennis and Football.

My adult children played in the tennis tournaments, which they loved.

Chris Halliday taught my kids tennis; he is a born teacher, and had them giggling away as they improved their games.

Bar 37 (Golf Clubhouse): The new interior and deck are beautiful and the menu was perfect for a lovely sunny light lunch.

We spent two weeks at this hotel with our 11 and 9 year old children.

Disappointed that I could not use my flotation device in the pool yet it was acceptable for children to bomb in the pool and to have ball games in every part.

My son (almost 12 years old) and I stayed here for 5 nights.

Needless to say the pool isn’t an option unless of course you’re happy listening to screaming children and being hit by flying balls and it’s not even end of term!

We first visited this hotel 4 years ago with our then 17 year old son.

but not brilliant the kids still had plenty to do will be returning in 2018

although there were a few young children.

Perfect place for middle aged guys who want a civilised break and some sport and also nice for families

I joined the tennis academy for days great value and fun for daughter 8 and my wife and I. Hotel,seemed full so perhaps my comments are not of value

The boys had a great five days, with personal 1-on-1 coaching plus group sessions, while we sat in some shade reading a book.

Los Nietos beach lovely and deserted with calm clear water in the LAgoon - perfect for children.

Hotel was very poor and a bit like stepping back in time.

but then you walk along the corridors dragging your own cases (as there is no one to take bags to the room) & the realisation is that the poor reviews were spot on.

Where once immaculate white hatted chefs turned out creative and delicious food, there now operates a behind the scenes kitchen totally reliant on poor quality bought in catering food.

There is no gym or spa to speak of, something we were really disappointed about, plus the condition of the golf courses during our stay was exceptionally poor.

so very poor management of the hotel and the hotel manager.

We played golf the next morning on the West Course again not what we expected, the course was very tight and in poor condition, neither the hotel or the golf were worth the money

Very expensive food and very poor quality, for example you pay 4 euro for a Fanta.

The restaurant provides breakfast and dinner: the food at breakfast, whilst of top quality, is served warm and not hot; the evening meals are quite poor.

The Wi-Fi signal is really poor in the rooms.

Breakfast for the first 4 days was like a obstacle course due to the poor layout of the breakfast with people going in every direction & children running round.

but a poor attitude prevails in the management team.

Tired smelly rooms - damp
Bathrooms very poor.

I now would not do so on principle, and reading the recent poor TripAdvisor reviews that decision was set in stone.

There have been comments on the carpet - the route along to the second floor bedrooms has rucks in the carpet all the way along - clearly not fitted properly seems action may only be taken if some poor soul actually trips on it, gets an injury and sues the hotel.

The room was old, the wifi didnt work, the tv channel was very poor.

No recommended unless they upgrade the rooms and facilities to match the price point.

however this is massively short of investment, wouldn't pay to play this again unless they have done a huge amount of work.

Food in the hotel and drinks were expensive so often we ate at the establishments nearby.

Way to overpriced and overated for this prehistoric hotel.

Evening meal had a restricted menu and was not cheap

Food was a little disappointing and q overpriced.

the hotel manager was threatening us all the time that we had to get out of the hotel and find our own, or we could find a hotel in town for Monday, which we had to pay for ourselves.

but rather expensive and only à la carte.

Golf buggies are expensive compared with other Spanish courses.

The restaurants were varied enough and of high enough quality if a little pricey.

However I extremely disappointed to report that I had pair of expensive Headphones stolen by the Lifeguard.

This is the only problem with the hotel, and I am assuming it would cost quite a lot of money to relay, or replace, hence why it has not been done.

Bad experience for the price we have paid!

A mile up the road, dated and you have to pay to use the indoor pool and jacuzzi.

I am very angry at the cost of this hotel when it needs shut down and refurbished.

but for the price paid this can be overlooked.

Food in the Piano Bar (Asian) was brilliant, al a carte very good food, Italian restaurant very disappointing.

There were 3 restaurants on site and we tried them all, equally as good as each other.

Two other restaurants, Italian and Asian have been incorporated in the hotel which is a lot more convenient.

For example our rooms weren’t ready when we arrived just before lunch and

The food at the pool restaurant was also excellent

The rooms, food and courses were first class as always.

When you do, it is a dull and uninspiring menu.

Some good local restaurants near by; Dante’s (Italian) a tapas restaurant next door & Si Restaurant (good English food menu) a bit further up the road.

On the positive side, the staff are excellent, if very busy, and the food was really good.

The Ampola restaurant is now running a pizza and pasta menu throughout the week.

The course is in great condition and the food was lovely for breakfast lunch and dinner.

The Piano Bar was most comfortable and I’ve now developed a liking for a few jellies to accompany a pint of beer.

Service is attentive and all common spaces, from breakfast room, swimming pool to restaurants work well. But.

We booked an Executive Room, and thoroughly enjoyed our evening complimentary G&T from the Piano Bar.

but the buffet breakfast was outstanding and included in our room rate.

Room was perfect, properly cleaned and serviced.

You have to ask if you want coffee, tea, etc in the room.

the rooms were great, everything throughout the hotel was spotlessly clean.

The rooms are large, clean, comfortable bed.

It’s room 131 if you want to try and improve my stay.

It comes to something when the best part of the room is the bathroom!!

This resort can’t live off its reputation without investment

Been coming here for 6 years now and the actual state of the rooms and corridors gets worse each time .

Our room was beautifully presented with a balcony overlooking the pool area and 18th hole of the North Course.

All the guests had to eat in the 'banquet' room which sounds nice

Even the smell is like an old folks home!

(And the chairs in there smell really bad by the way).

Disgusting, boring, no respectful/responsive staff at the check in!

Serious rethink needed by hotel if it is to continue, as eventually the reviews of musty carpet will keep people away, which would be a shame.

Unfortunately we have had a bad experience as on arrival we had to change rooms due to a damp smell and now the room we are in has no proper balcony.

Very dated hallways, carpet stains, damp smell.

We moved into a deluxe room which smelled slightly better

Damp in the rooms, damp bed, clothes all damp, smelt damp, opened the doors as much as possible

After complaining regarding smoking in the poolside restaurant the management have finally segregated the smokers tables from the non smokers and are to be congratulated for their effort.

During our stay we changed rooms three times due to damp and musty smell that was attempted to be masked with plug in air fresheners.

The first room they checked us into smelled very strongly of damp and

The lifts have a 'certain smell' I'm not sure if it's the air freshener that's used or not???. .

Staff were excellent, courteous and professional so no complaints there.

The whole stay was fantastic and the staff were superb.

The staff are outstanding and couldn’t do more for you, the room we had with a balcony overlooking the large swimming pool was just perfect with great air conditioning and was serviced daily to a high standard.

All these wonderful human beings,alongside their colleagues made our stay even more memorable, and as somebody who has been for 40 years in the hospitality business and I have seen the ups and downs and trials and tribulations, I am proud to see that these guys are a flagship in this hard yet rewarding business, keeping good service alive .

Only place to grab a snack is the golf bar (Spike bar) where the service is terribly slow because despite there being a large competition booked in advance, they didn’t have enough staff to cope with the demand!

Breakfast excellent and the front desk, especially Rita, were very helpful in all respects.

The only area that gets pass marks is the reception area.

However, The most appalling  service  is that offered by the pool attendants.

I find this very disrespectful for the guests that paid full price expecting what we have been used to in previous years.

but the staff were amazing and very accommodating and for that reason 5/5.

Complimentary bottled water, a digital safe, television and minibar were present.

I left plenty of balls in the water so if anyone fancies a swim they’re yours.

We are a married couple, we were given a twin room(this room had a balcony with furniture, bath robes and free water.

No free water in room - when we have stayed in other 5 star hotels in hot countries they provide some bottles of water free with the room every day.

For evening meals there are hotel associated restaurant choices and non hotel restaurant choices so you don't get the 'resort only' feeling, just a short walk away including a supermarket/bars/ice cream to get water and daytime snacks.

If you decide to walk make sure you're fit enough and take plenty of water.

Breakfast was ok, hot buffet was tepid at best by 9am so better to choose fresh cooked eggs which were very nice.

though it was taken off the bil)

Great venue, watched some World Cup games, very few guests there.

We stayed in Los lomas apartments split 6 & 4
Rooms were fine all ensuite plenty of hot water, good kitchen balcony and tv with free sky sports.

Every morning at breakfast they ran out of large plates, the bar had no ice-cream for 2 days and there was one member of staff attempting to serve drinks to a packed poolside which often resulted in a wait of 10 minutes to buy a bottle of water.

The nearby beaches in La manga are nice with their white sand and clear waters.

The milk and water in the fridge on arrival was a nice touch!

just need to hire a car as taxi expensive and much around the area.

We didn't have a hire car so used public transport to venture out to Cabo de Palos in one direction and various stops along the LM strip.

We had a car which is probably necessary as the bus service was quite limited.

The only drawback is that you need to have a car to reach this hotel.

but not for the better, we had booked a twin room, we were put in a tiny room with a sma lead window  overlooking the car park.

Buzzed for entry to car park, were told down intercom that it was full - the women then hung up without bothering to suggest an alternative.

Not much to do out and about, really need a car to explore the area.

This is not the place for you if you like lively holidays and would certainly recommend a car if you like to get around,

We would advise people to rent a car as getting to La Manga might be a bit complicated by public transport.

but if you are staying for a longer period of time you probably do need a car to get out and about.

The only downside, (if you can call it that) is that there is not much around in way of entertainment, you will definitely benefit from car hire, as you need to travel a bit to reach shops, restaurants etc.

but it also meant we had to use the car far more than we wanted to as we did a fair amount of miles to get to somewhere interesting.

some bad things: you need to pay 8 euro a day to park your car, we didn't had a coffee maker in the room and the adult entertainment is lacking

We were on 3rd floor room 340.  was not the best of view overlooking rear car park and side sea view

Needless to say.. we didn't use it, and the car park was empty apart from 3 cars.

Ive yet to come across a car hire company that allows you to take it almost empty fill what you need and leave it back the way you got it.Its a complete rip off this take it full and leave back empty.

As always excellent standard, staff brilliant food superb cleanliness in all areas fabulous.

The rooms were very clean and views are amazing.
