however it needs to be highlighted that the hotel is in need of an interior refurbishment, rooms are very run down - carpets worn, marble flooring cracked and discoloured - in its heyday it must have been spectacular!

You pay 5* prices for old furniture, bathrooms that hadn’t been updated since last century 90’s, a carpet smelling dust and signs  of wear and tear, lack of investment all over.

Rooms and common areas very tired,  paintwork was very tatty and the carpets so dirty we felt uncomfortable.

If the paintwork and carpet issues were addressed this would be an amazing hotel.

however the corridors and room are in dire need of refurbishment, no way in this condition could you say it is more than 2 star, worn carpets, room smelt damp and musky, such a shame as until this is completed we would not spend the money to stay here again.

Carpets are filthy and worn both in the rooms and in all corridors ive seem better 2 star hotels .

All rooms have very old carpets and there was visibly mold in the walls.

The Negative is the hotel needs to get rid of the carpet, which I am assuming has been down for quite a few years.

All fixtures were dated, carpet stains etc.

but had mould in the carpet (see pic).stained carpets and chipped paint and wood everywhere in hotel.

The first room that we have received on 11th August had a lot of dirty spots on the carpet as well was not smelling well.

One Thing I dislike, is having carpets in the room!

but managed to get a room, the hotel is definitely in need of a spruce up, all the carpets in the public area were dirty, our room had a shower over the bath with a shower curtain not what you would expect in a 5*, for €210 for one night, the breakfast was fine, again food under lights and cold is not 5* to me.

but probably clean just that carpets, bathroom are getting tired and could do with a refurbishment.

This hotel is so very tired and needs a revamp big style, cracked tiles, stained carpets, chipped furniture and we booked deluxe rooms too!

The hallways have not seen any decoration in 2 decades at least the carpets probably not cleaned in that time also.. you find plug sockets hanging out the wall, fire extinguishers missing, chunks taken out of walls and cracks in the walls.

but some of the carpets in the corridors are def.

Boys were pleased with golfing side, professional and everything they needed.

The facilities were top notch, the kids club (half days only) was great, the kids loved it, we also played mini golf, pitch and putt, tennis, swam in both the spa pool and the outdoor pool (though a little chilly in October - it would be great if it were heated) and had a footy kickabout.

Spent 4 days as last year here..great for children doing so many activities

We have been to La Manga before with one of our teenage sons and he loved it so this year we took his friend and they had a great time playing Tennis and Football.

My adult children played in the tennis tournaments, which they loved.

Chris Halliday taught my kids tennis; he is a born teacher, and had them giggling away as they improved their games.

Bar 37 (Golf Clubhouse): The new interior and deck are beautiful and the menu was perfect for a lovely sunny light lunch.

We spent two weeks at this hotel with our 11 and 9 year old children.

Disappointed that I could not use my flotation device in the pool yet it was acceptable for children to bomb in the pool and to have ball games in every part.

My son (almost 12 years old) and I stayed here for 5 nights.

Needless to say the pool isn’t an option unless of course you’re happy listening to screaming children and being hit by flying balls and it’s not even end of term!

We first visited this hotel 4 years ago with our then 17 year old son.

but not brilliant the kids still had plenty to do will be returning in 2018

although there were a few young children.

Perfect place for middle aged guys who want a civilised break and some sport and also nice for families

I joined the tennis academy for days great value and fun for daughter 8 and my wife and I. Hotel,seemed full so perhaps my comments are not of value

The boys had a great five days, with personal 1-on-1 coaching plus group sessions, while we sat in some shade reading a book.

Los Nietos beach lovely and deserted with calm clear water in the LAgoon - perfect for children.

Hotel was very poor and a bit like stepping back in time.

but then you walk along the corridors dragging your own cases (as there is no one to take bags to the room) & the realisation is that the poor reviews were spot on.

Where once immaculate white hatted chefs turned out creative and delicious food, there now operates a behind the scenes kitchen totally reliant on poor quality bought in catering food.

There is no gym or spa to speak of, something we were really disappointed about, plus the condition of the golf courses during our stay was exceptionally poor.

so very poor management of the hotel and the hotel manager.

We played golf the next morning on the West Course again not what we expected, the course was very tight and in poor condition, neither the hotel or the golf were worth the money

Very expensive food and very poor quality, for example you pay 4 euro for a Fanta.

The restaurant provides breakfast and dinner: the food at breakfast, whilst of top quality, is served warm and not hot; the evening meals are quite poor.

The Wi-Fi signal is really poor in the rooms.

Breakfast for the first 4 days was like a obstacle course due to the poor layout of the breakfast with people going in every direction & children running round.

but a poor attitude prevails in the management team.

I now would not do so on principle, and reading the recent poor TripAdvisor reviews that decision was set in stone.

There have been comments on the carpet - the route along to the second floor bedrooms has rucks in the carpet all the way along - clearly not fitted properly seems action may only be taken if some poor soul actually trips on it, gets an injury and sues the hotel.

The room was old, the wifi didnt work, the tv channel was very poor.

No recommended unless they upgrade the rooms and facilities to match the price point.

however this is massively short of investment, wouldn't pay to play this again unless they have done a huge amount of work.

Food in the hotel and drinks were expensive so often we ate at the establishments nearby.

Way to overpriced and overated for this prehistoric hotel.

Evening meal had a restricted menu and was not cheap

Food was a little disappointing and q overpriced.

the hotel manager was threatening us all the time that we had to get out of the hotel and find our own, or we could find a hotel in town for Monday, which we had to pay for ourselves.

but rather expensive and only à la carte.

Golf buggies are expensive compared with other Spanish courses.

The restaurants were varied enough and of high enough quality if a little pricey.

However I extremely disappointed to report that I had pair of expensive Headphones stolen by the Lifeguard.

This is the only problem with the hotel, and I am assuming it would cost quite a lot of money to relay, or replace, hence why it has not been done.

A mile up the road, dated and you have to pay to use the indoor pool and jacuzzi.

I am very angry at the cost of this hotel when it needs shut down and refurbished.

but for the price paid this can be overlooked.

Small family run hotel, excellent personalized service, friendly staff, spacious tidy rooms, very quiet air condition, doule rooms with 2 kingsize beds, en-suite shower bath,  lift, served breakfast made to order, 3 bars, one on rooftop, shops and restaurants in walking distance, ideal for a getaway.

Our room was clean and comfortable (personally I loved the soft pillows - hate a firm one) and the views are just fabulous.

From the friendly staff, who were all too willing to assist, to the cleanliness of the rooms and the service levels (world class - 5*).

During our stay we found the hotel to be very comfortable, we stayed in a beautiful clean room with fabulous views over the golf course.

We had  family room which was clean and well equipped, It had a small balcony which got the afternoon sun and  overlooked the golf course ; a great way to pass a few hours on this lovely sunny balcony reading my kindle and watching the golfers.

Staff extremely helpful room spotless and breakfast second to none.

Our room was clean tidy and tastefully  decorated with two queen beds feather pillows and duvets,linen changed daily,flat screen tv,,Wi ,and tea or coffee facilities with a great view of the 9th green and 10th tee on the North course. 5*rating.

On arrival reception was very helpful room was ready even though we arrived early,room ok clean

This hotel is in a great spot we have been several times over the years the rooms are clean comfortable with a  large bathroom  ours was a club room.

rooms and were extremely pleased our view over the golf course was beautiful to wake up to .

Really can't fault the room we had as it was clean and comfortable - apart from the shower which was attached to the wall about 5 feet up and could could not be adjusted high enough to cope with me being over 6ft therefor had to bend down to showere properly.

I always like staying at this hotel the rooms are clean & spacious & the staff friendly & helpful.

Even the smell is like an old folks home!

(And the chairs in there smell really bad by the way).

Serious rethink needed by hotel if it is to continue, as eventually the reviews of musty carpet will keep people away, which would be a shame.

Unfortunately we have had a bad experience as on arrival we had to change rooms due to a damp smell and now the room we are in has no proper balcony.

During our stay we changed rooms three times due to damp and musty smell that was attempted to be masked with plug in air fresheners.

Buffet breakfast is a nice location with good views over the golf course & great if you like lukewarm food & cold coffee.

Complimentary bottled water, a digital safe, television and minibar were present.

I left plenty of balls in the water so if anyone fancies a swim they’re yours.

We are a married couple, we were given a twin room(this room had a balcony with furniture, bath robes and free water.

No free water in room - when we have stayed in other 5 star hotels in hot countries they provide some bottles of water free with the room every day.

For evening meals there are hotel associated restaurant choices and non hotel restaurant choices so you don't get the 'resort only' feeling, just a short walk away including a supermarket/bars/ice cream to get water and daytime snacks.

If you decide to walk make sure you're fit enough and take plenty of water.

Breakfast was ok, hot buffet was tepid at best by 9am so better to choose fresh cooked eggs which were very nice.

Rooms were fine all ensuite plenty of hot water, good kitchen balcony and tv with free sky sports.

Every morning at breakfast they ran out of large plates, the bar had no ice-cream for 2 days and there was one member of staff attempting to serve drinks to a packed poolside which often resulted in a wait of 10 minutes to buy a bottle of water.

The nearby beaches in La manga are nice with their white sand and clear waters.

The milk and water in the fridge on arrival was a nice touch!

just need to hire a car as taxi expensive and much around the area.

We didn't have a hire car so used public transport to venture out to Cabo de Palos in one direction and various stops along the LM strip.

We had a car which is probably necessary as the bus service was quite limited.

The only drawback is that you need to have a car to reach this hotel.

but not for the better, we had booked a twin room, we were put in a tiny room with a sma lead window  overlooking the car park.

Buzzed for entry to car park, were told down intercom that it was full - the women then hung up without bothering to suggest an alternative.

Not much to do out and about, really need a car to explore the area.

This is not the place for you if you like lively holidays and would certainly recommend a car if you like to get around,

We would advise people to rent a car as getting to La Manga might be a bit complicated by public transport.

but if you are staying for a longer period of time you probably do need a car to get out and about.

The only downside, (if you can call it that) is that there is not much around in way of entertainment, you will definitely benefit from car hire, as you need to travel a bit to reach shops, restaurants etc.

but it also meant we had to use the car far more than we wanted to as we did a fair amount of miles to get to somewhere interesting.

some bad things: you need to pay 8 euro a day to park your car, we didn't had a coffee maker in the room and the adult entertainment is lacking

We were on 3rd floor room 340.  was not the best of view overlooking rear car park and side sea view

Needless to say.. we didn't use it, and the car park was empty apart from 3 cars.

Ive yet to come across a car hire company that allows you to take it almost empty fill what you need and leave it back the way you got it.Its a complete rip off this take it full and leave back empty.

The rooms were very clean and views are amazing.

We have just returned from Hotel Servigroup Galua, Having read most of the reviews before booking and generally agreeing with most, our experience was a little different.The Hotel and our room were spotless with a sanitised new bathmat and the usual toiletries.The the public loos and mirrors were immaculately clean as was the Hotel throughout.

but did struggle a little with some words, we were on the 1st floor with a view looking out to sea, the room itself was very clean and the bathroom was large and with little bottles of soap shampoo etc which was a nice touch and regularly replaced.

Rooms are clean with lovely sea views, WiFi in the room is outstanding, we streamed programmes to watch on our iPads etc.

The room was clean and comfortable and offerred sea views.

Great hotel fab food and service , rooms very clean with wonderful views.

We stayed from 26th Oct - 2nd Nov. We went as two couples just looking for a small reasonably priced all inclusive break, reading the reviews before going I was incredibly worried.

Would have been nice to have an all inclusive drinks menu so that you could see what was included.

We visited hotel for a weekend stay , on arrival we decide to change for all inclusive what was a big mistake as all inclusive doesn’t include almost nothing , we been i spain in 4starts hotel

Overall, Excellent Hotel
We took the all-inclusive, which allowed for draft beer, draft wines, cocktail of the day, and also bottled spirits and the like, so you can make up your very own cocktails.

We really enjoyed the all-inclusive scheme.

What is the most important for me though, is the fact, that premium alcohols were in all inclusive, which means we had JB, Jim Beam, Ballantines, Bacardi, Absolut etc.

We booked to stay here for 10 nights, the hotel is very clean, and has been completely refurbished, we are all inclusive, the food is only okay!!

Otherwise there is a lovely beach across the road which was heavenly!!!

but it's still a good hotel for beach holidays.

Then you can just kick back and relax by the pool or private beach ⛱️ Thank you AluaSun Doblemar La Manga we will be back for our comfy beds and great views.

Plenty of sunbeds and the pool and beach area is immaculate.

The room was fine, had everything we needed for our holiday.

The location is great, warm beach literally on the doorstep, and the Mediterranean Sea about 500 yards over the road.

The hotel is beautifully situated with a beach onto the Mar Menor at the rear and amazing views of the sea at the front, all rooms have superb views of the sun rise or sun set.

but you'll be able to get beach beer, water & crisps and toiletries.

The hotel is right next to a nice sandy beach.

Swimming pool with the sandy beach just a few short steps away.

Pool and beach areas are well equipped and you can get the WiFi from the pool!

The hotel is well situated, right next to Mar Menor Lagoon, the water level of this beach is extremely shallow.

Location of the hotel right on the beach is perfect.

Beach is very nice and the water is shallow (max to your knees).

but the lagoon is right beside the pool and the other beach is less than a five minute walk across the road (the beach across the road is a much better place for a swim).

Fantastic position right on the Mar Menor beach,fabulous views,great hotel,easy parking,
8 €uros a day.Nice pools and gardens,excellent restaurant,good food.

Slight criticism was that the scrambled eggs at breakfast were always cold,

but uninspiring some nights,  breakfast is the same each morning a little cold but lunch and dinner never had a problem!

In the evening there wasn't actually that much to choose from, & the breakfast was cold the next morning & it had only been open an hour.

The food is truly terrible, with a selection of what can only be described as cold and lacking in choice.

They charge extra for everything even for juice in the morning 1€ when you have all inclusive , food was not fresh very little choice everything is cold ,mojito i try like that terrible first time in my life interesting if i would not have all inclusive then i would pay 7€ for that mojito that i get with all inclusive!???

Hotel is clean and staff friendly however doesn’t not cater for families nothing for children as entertainment or food wise although the food is cold anyway not impressed we are all inclusive

The driveway was short and thronged with vehicles, and the small carpark out the back needed a special card which can only be acquired after check in (and it turned out to be full anyway).

though there is a vending machine that charges €1.50 for a thimble of coffee, bearing in mind you have to dress to get to this, as there  is only 1 machine, for all the floors.

but this was a joke they charge you 2€ for safety deposit box !!!

A small fridge is present plus a safe at a small charge of €2 a day.

The premises across the road on the Mediterranean side are similar.h abandoned.

Location is between the wonderfully warm (and shallow) Mar Menor, and the beautiful slightly chillier Mediterranean.

However, the Mediterranean Sea which is located on the other side of the hotel (5 minutes walk) has a crystal clear water where you can enjoy swimming the whole day.

Mediterranean sea is only 200 m away from the hotel and offers more fun in waves.

though it was mid-afternoon there was still a long queue for check-in, and despite 3 staff on the desks it took almost half an hour before we were served.

An hour queue to check in and no parking anywhere near the hotel despite being advertised it was a ailable onsite.

We gave up trying to get any food at breakfast due to the queues going round the restaurant it was crazy.

The second one is that one particular barman liked to pull the Spanish out of the bar cue and serve them first which is very rude.

but choose not to on my holiday and when I was waiting  to be served one more than 1  occasion I heard the bar staff speaking about how the non speaking Spanish had to be given non premier drinks.

Each night a different type of fish was cooked to order (be prepared to queue at the griddle,

but could have done with another member of bar staff, having said that, the queue was never more than 10.
