The A/C in the room didn't seem to be all that forceful

No hot water, AC puddles in the room, old windows that do not filter the freeway noise that the site sits next to, crappy food (went to in and out and smart n final to get Cup of Noodles for something better tasting than the restaurant), heater that didn't work.

The vents in my room had spiderwebs blowing out to of them.

Our first night we couldn’t seem to get the AC working so Ben from the front desk was nice enough to upgrade our second night to their Superior Room without any additional cost.

but this is really the only disappointment, the AC was a little noisy at times but OK.

but for some the AC is a little outdated and may be a tad loud for others, but didnt bother me or my girlfriend.

The air conditioner in my room went out in the middle of the night both nights I was there.

Rust in the bathtub fixtures, some cracking in the plaster, no exhaust fan in the bathroom--and I did have to evict a spider from the tub the first night.

though there didn't seem to be exhaust fans in the bathroom.

Even with the air conditioner on, we still heard  freeway traffic noise all night, and about 7 am the maintenance crew was pruning the palm trees outside making a lot of noise.

but as soon as you open the window and turn on the AC it's ok. Breakfast was good, a bit on the expensive side.

but all 6 rooms we seen were identical to what we already had so switching served no purpose.

the bathroom really fits one person only, unless the other is showering; there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your stuff up a flight of stairs (it's only 2-story and built prior to the Americans with Disabilities Act); the parking is a bit cramped and cost $14, which I wasn't a big fan of,

I mentioned that the hotel we had stayed in the night before wouldn't accommodate us 1 hour before check in and gave us a room with a view of an aircon unit.

The A/C kicking on and off all night kept both of us awake.

The pool area is large, clean and well kept.

Staff were friendly and helpful and it was pretty clean and tidy.

The hotel was spacious and clean, and the pool area lovely.

This place also has a bar, restaurant, spa and hair stylist on sight
Ten minute drive to beach, Coronado Island, breweries and Balboa Park.

Absolutely gross hotel under the disguise of somewhere actually decent.

The room was clean  they were able to a join my room to the kids room which was great.

The restaurant was clean, inviting, and well ran.

The room was clean and spacious, very comfortable beds (with a view over the freeway).

Glad to know I just picked the wrong time to show up and have everything work and see a clean hotel.

Everything is well kept  and spotlessly clean,especially the rooms!

Out dated and I found no elevator to the second floor.

The only elevator is to accomodate staff!

If I had to find a fault with the Handlery, the one thing I could mention is the lack of either a ramp or a lift to the second floor, which would have made it a bit awkward with heavy luggage had an accommodating employee not been right there to give us a hand.

There are no elevators, so if you have problems with stairs, you need to notify staff when reserving a room.

Was dismayed to find the two story hotel did not have an elevator.

I stayed on a second floor, and found it odd that they didn’t have an elevator.

This is a 2 story facility and I’m not sure if there is an elevator so be aware of that.

My only concern is there are no elevators and I have a lot of luggage when I travel so I would be happy on an upper floor if there was a lift.

Pros - central location, restaurant onsite, clean room
Cons - no elevators, not enough pillows, very small room and bathroom, look out for extra charges with room service 
I would probably stay here again

There were many people hanging out in the hall that assured us it was true that there was no elevator.

Checked in on Friday May 25 2018 I got the keys to my room went upstairs because they have no elevator so walked two flights of stairs .

Appreciate due to the nature of the building that there can be no elevator

Unfortunately, our friend had a hurt leg and we couldn't easily access the room (no elevator).

There are no elevators so ask for a 1st floor if you find stairs difficult.

Had a room in a building that faced the pool, on the second floor WITH NO ELEVATOR.

Had to ride around a bit to find a place to park and carry our luggage to the second floor since there was no elevator.

No elevator means you have to schlep you luggage up and down the stairs.

Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Every single one of the staff we interacted with were fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly, polite and professional.

We traveled there for a youth sporting event and the person in charge of booking rooms for the team picked this hotel and we were expected to  stay there.

Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating providing a room that was ideally situated for us with our boxes of items we needed to remove while our condo complex was tented.

The employees were all friendly and helpful, 1 employee who really sticks out in a very possible way is Junneah Alilain, she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Every thing about this place was great--the staff was friendly and helpful---we loved the pool---i must have spent 50 percent of my time out there-----it was a vacation of a dream----they catered to our every need.

The waitstaff and bartenders were very friendly.

took multiple calls to front desk to halt an all night party across the hall.

but you are trapped in a 5 by 5 foyer and I had to use my cell phone light to see where I was.

But not even a call to my room to warn me?

but needless to say I have not had a call back.

We were advised that if it continues after 10pm to ring and then they could send security up.

The obvious point to this long event is that on that first call when I said I hear a rattling sound coming from the wall on the side of 214, they should have said that is not possible, and that there is a pump room between you.

I was told to call the next morning at 10am to request the original rooms again and when the people in them checked out and the rooms were cleaned they would move us.

Sometime after midnight, I thought for sure we were gonna have to call in a domestic!

Although the hotel did offer free in-and-out parking, the parking attendant seemed generally irritated that we were pulling him away from whatever Netflix show he was watching on his phone as we tried to figure out which slot to put our ticket into.

He informed me to call back in the morning to deal with room service .

Then they said they had to call management on Monday to which I replied they could call them immediately as this was urgent.

As a business traveller, I also found the technology a bit outdated--30 year old phones, not enough outlets etc.

We called the main desk and after waiting several hours, we had to call again.

but you could still phone in orders to the indoor bar and have them brought out to you.

I have worked in customer service and as a travel agent for more than 20 years of my life and I know that sometimes a simple call or note makes the world of difference when it comes to dissatisfied people.

It took 2 phone calls & it was finally done.

Oh, another in our party called the front desk because the Wi-fi had gone out, and they gave her the number to their IT people and suggested that SHE call them.

Welhen booking the room over the phone I stated I needed a pack and play, when I called to see if our room was ready I asked for a pack and play, when checking in I asked for a pack and play and when we finally arrived to our room there was no pack and play.

Called and asked for early check in and was told to call day of.

While Adam was not there my girl Sara was there to answer questions and knew me on a name basis witch I like immensely makes me feel important 😂😂😂 anyhoo she got what I needed in my room helped me out poolside when I kept calling over and over again lol sorry Sara it was all for the groom. .

The convention price was very good and included breakfast, which was at convenient times with good food and good service.

There is a mall about a 15 minute walk away with a good selection of shops and a food court,

It was ok the chicken wings in the hut by the pool were huge and a good value for poolside food.

Room service breakfast is supposedly available from 7am,

The staff is so helpful and courteous, the food is spectacular, the pool is gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful and the beds are so comfortable.

The Postcard restaurant in the hotel was fantastic with huge portions.

The restaurant and bar area was clean and had a good menu for drinks and food.

And to Mani in the restaurant and bar outstanding service from both of these guys!

The restaurant in the hotel was also a plus- great food.

The room was clean, with hot water, good water preassure, the gym was good for small rutines, the swiming pool was ok, I do not use the laundry room or the restaurant.

You will noticed that the staff are nice from the room service cleaning ladies to the waitress at the “restaurant “ for free complimentary breakfast.

Had dinner in the restaurant was ok, had pizza and a cup of soup.

The hotel has a restaurant which for the most part was empty.

Room service was ok. Food was ice cold when we got it.

Juan in the cafe was a delight -- going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for breakfast in the morning.

They did not have elevators available and the rooms were really spread out.

but rooms fulfilled our needs, the beds are comfy, clean and the room quiet.

The room was large, comfortable and acceptible.

As for the room quality, bed was large and moderately comfortable.

We had 2 rooms at the back of one of the long buildings with our car parked right outside our window.

I plan to book rooms here for our relatives who love to visit us in San Diego!

Rooms are just the right size for up to 4 people.

Lol well if my room has this happening and your already aware of it I’m sure the other rooms also have this issue.

The room was pleasant, clean and comfortable.

We were shipped out to the second to last hotel room row in the parking lot.

The quality of the rooms varies somewhat based on age.

He did not seemed surprised by any of the comments I described about the room.

they always make sure I have my favorite room.

We asked for a price at front desk upon arrival, and they suggested to book it online because the price would be much lower.

I received wonderful customer service at the front desk, especially for the fact I arrived middle of the night.

When 16 families of different backgrounds and personalities ALL choose to leave - well, there must be a reason why.

Here are a couple employee shout outs and praises:  first the front desk clerk named Alana.

The walls are paper thin, we could hear full conversations between people and their dogs barking or babies crying at night.

If I had to give it one negative, it is that in the building I was in, which was one of the off buildings from the main area, the walls were very thin.

I moved here because of the horrible conditions at the town and country (also drilling into my walls, construction at 630am).

The walls were not sound proof so I was woken up at 7:40am by delivery trucks backing up and housekeeping carts being pushed around and people walking outside our windows.

My cousins that also stayed there said the walls were thin and heard televisions and people all night.

He lost, I'm positive, because with those paper thin walls, I think we would have been quite aware!

however the walls are thin and it can become difficult to sleep with folks
at the pool.

but you couldn't sit and watch the pool as the balcony has high solid wall.

The walls are thin and you can hear everything.

It was like having three walls and a totally open wall that lead outdoors to our personal patio.

Paintings are all off the walls on the floor, signs ripped off the wall on the floor, baseboards ripped off, oh and carpet ripped up!

My bed was one that pulled down from the wall.

The furniture was old and the walls were paper thin.

I ended up dusting things down myself because it bothered me), dirty (something, who knows what, was smeared above the TV on the wall and looked so gross), just overall looked like housekeeping only cleaned the bath tub and changed the linen.

Only complaint was that the walls are pretty thin.

Walls are paper thin & the bathrooms are tiny with no exhaust fans.

4 stars only because the walls were paper thin.

The bed was pretty lumpy and the walls are a bit thin. My boyfriend likened it to "military barracks."

However, when we asked the next morning for help, they sent a technician who established that the wall unit was broken and pointed us to the control panel on the AC unit itself.

Ultimately, with doors and windows closed (and air conditioner and fan running) we really didn't experience any outside noise.

Air conditioning did not work in the livingroom area.

If you get an ocean front unit, there will be many times a group of 3, 4, 5, or 6 laying on the grass directly below you drinking and smoking cigarettes and pot.

Our air conditioning was broken as was the soap dispenser in the shower so getting the soap out of the plastic bag was a two-person operation.

2) The second night, the air conditioner began churning, clicking, clanking grinding and it was as if there a cement mixer which was falling apart.

The overhead water leaks from obvious old leaking pipes in the concrete structure were ingeniously rigged with homemade contraptions to funnel the dripping leaks (we assume it was only water and not sewage) to the massive floor grate in the garage; and they charged us $20 per night to park in this filthy garage.

The AC unit had to work overtime since it was very hot and humid during our stay.

Running the air conditioning was enough to drown out the noise, and we had great sleeps each night.

Cooled the room down quickly then kept off.

We had two rooms and one of them had problems that were immediately addressed by the management (burnt out heating unit, dysfunctional TV, very noisy people upstairs in the middle of the night).

The only reason I gave it an Average rating is because it needs to be updated esp around the kitchen area, and the air conditioner was loud every time it kicked on.

I would suggest some sort of a fan system to keep the air moving in those areas.

The building could use a/c (the guest rooms have a/c, thankfully)  and the layout is kind of confusing.

though we had it turned down all the way, there was hardly any air coming out of the air conditioner).

in the morning you can make a great walk along the beach

Right on the beach, a block and a half from the bus stop and right in the thick of things going on in Pacific Beach.

The location was excellent--you just walk across the boardwalk to the beach.

This hotel is right on the beach separated only by a pedestrian promenade which in itself makes a colorful scene blending the locals and the visitors.

The location was right next to the beach, so if we wanted to walk, it would be practically outside the hotel.

We were right in the beach within seconds from the pool area so was nice and convenient being in the middle of everything.

It's the perfect place to chill at the beach for a few days.

The Team at Ocean Park Inn, the Property, the Rooms and Views, the near-by shopping/dining/entertainment, and of course the Location on the beach and ocean all combined made for a perfect setting for a whole family celebration of Nan's 80th Birthday.

It has a real beach vibe and is less of a resort (if that‘s what you are looking for).

Perfect location: beach across the street, restaurants across the street and many others nearby, the swimming pool is heated, room was clean and roomy.

For us, this reality is so much better than hotels or vrbo that are across a street and away from the beach.

The location was perfect for the beach, brunch, and all the bars/restaurants.

Incredible view and location, a few steps from the beach, with a jacuzzi and a swimming pool on the way.

It is also walking distance to coffee, food, and the beach had great waves for wake boarding or the zen sound of the ocean.

Outstanding location right on the BEACH, excellent and friendly staff, delicious HOT breakfast!!!

They even rented us beach chairs to use outside on the sand!

The hotel was in the perfect location and we loved the SoCal beach vibe decor of the room.

Close by to restaurants, bars, and of course the beach.

They have absolutely no business charging what they do.

but no credit was given for it's absence.

They didn't offer a continental breakfast and yet they still charged us an extra fee for my 14-year-old. Why?

There was no bottled water in the room got charged for them.

Cons: the shutters don’t keep much light out if you are trying to sleep in, poor water pressure in shower, front desk could not replenish voss water bottles in room (these waters are charged to the room $2 each

It looked run down for the prices they were charging (299 a night over weekend!).

They have hotel car parking (might be charged based on your vacation package).

Therefore, we could buy snacks for the room and use our Fry's discount card to get the bargains.

One of the bars we went to charged $12 for a bottle of bud. Ouch!

everything was explained to me: key card use, parking garage, breakfast hours, etc etc.

$15/day charge and only one car per room allowed.

That includes the parking fee they charge you when you check out.

2) I wish they wouldn't charge for parking.

The only negative was that bottled water in the room was charged at $4 a bottle which I consider far too much - I bought water at the 7/11 across the street which was no great inconvenience.

over a month later, a $550.13 charge appeared on my charge card without any confirmation or even a pending charge.

but please make sure to bring them back to the room or a 50.00 charge per towel will be assessed.

but you can come in & out as many times as you want using your room card key once you check in.

I didn't mind paying the additional daily charge of $10 for their gated underground parking.

I got the feeling that the clientele may have been suspect in the past as there were signs informing you that you'll be charged if this or that is missing form the room.

but the elevator was not working -  it was fixed by the next day.

BUT we had no elevator for the majority of our stay and we were on the 3rd floor.

was hard to comprehend that there was no urgency to fix your elevator the two days I stayed in the hotel.

When we arrived, the elevator was working.

I was a bit skeptical at first as I thought it looked old from the outside & elevator in the parking garage.

The only elevator was out of order for hours during the day.

It's in an underground parking garage and you can load your luggage and take it up the elevator.

Even the hallways and the elevators of this beach hotel constantly reeked of marijuana.

Only negative was that the elevator was broken

The only reason I didn’t give it the highest rating was because the elevator was broken almost the whole time we were there!
