Excellent breakfast choices, with waffle makers, cereal, bread, oatmeal and much more.

Breakfast was continental in style and more than adequate.

Having coffee and breakfast in the pool area each morning was delightful.

The facilities are well cared for, our room was really clean, and their breakfast was nice.

Breakfast in the morning was plenty to get you on your way.

Breakfast is good - continental style with a choice of cereals, patsies, waffles etc.

The Lobby and breakfast area were very nice and the breakfast had nothing left to be desired.

It's not just the room that brings you value though, they have a free breakfast everyday from 7-10am.

I didn’t realize there was complimentary  breakfast until we checked in .

Oldtown Inn is a hidden gem with friendly staff, reasonable prices and the only hotel anywhere near downtown San Diego with free parking!

The average cost to stay is less than fancy chain hotels, and parking was free.

We chose it for its free parking, easy access and price

so just straight down the end of US 8 to Dog Beach and Free parking at ocean front beach.

The parking is free and the location is great, about a ten to fifteen minute walk to Old Town San Diego, where there are lots of restaurants.

but this time we drove and it's straightforward with free parking.

We enjoyed free parking, free wifi, free breakfasts (pretty basic) and a comfortable, clean, quiet room with a big screen TV.

The room size, free breakfast buffet, and free parking are what helped us to choose this hotel over others, and we are so glad we did.

When I was researching hotels in the area I was looking for a highly rated hotel with breakfast and free parking included.

but it’s clean, cozy, has a nice pool area, coin operated laundry, free breakfast in the morning and free parking (which a lot of other local places do not offer).

Noise, condition of the rooms, presence of homeless folks, mechanical issues of elevators, plumbing, etc.

I had read previous reviews about homeless people in the area and there is a shelter a block away

(Headboard lamps, USB ports…) We didn’t hear a lot of external noise, just the train a couple of times and the neighbors every now and then.

Although is a little off the beaten path and looks to be in an industrial neighborhood.

You can hear your neighbors every so often, especially the little kids.

it is located in a sketchy area, not a nice area to walk around, especially at night.

However, while my husband and I were happy to walk to Old Town in the daylight, walkability after dark is a bit questionable.

The neighborhood is going through some construction and there seems to be a homelessness problem in the area.

I booked a room with two queen beds…spacious with fridge & microwave, the best pillows and mattress, and when you close the door, you can’t hear anything from the outside world (Okay, noisy neighbors hooting it up outside my door at 7:30am, and the National Anthem on a loud speaker at 8am from the serious-looking Naval War complex across the street)

We were unfortunate to have some very noisy neighbours on 1 of our 4 nights,

however as, apart from the Old town, the neighborhood seems a little seedy (and anyway uninteresting), even if I didn't have any security problem.

but a bit scary if you are coming back in the dark.

Some reviewers here showed their concerns because of homeless people by the station.

There were three or four harmless homeless people who bedded down under the freeway overpass each night we were there,

One thing that did surprise me was that there is a small homeless encampment about a block away

but at no time did I feel I was in any danger.

but in the future would prefer something in a walkable neighborhood.

Rooms are clean and the beds are extremely comfortable.

Very comfortable bed and linens; very clean room and bathroom; nice staff.

The room was spotless with room service every day and regular fresh bed linen.

The rooms were clean, had a nice size television.

We were very impressed with how clean our room was.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed.

Breakfast ladies (Tata, Julia, Amelia) were welcoming & provided a great service - always a banana kept aside for us, and a changing menu daily.

They offer daily eggs, sausages, toast, juice and waffles that are blandly edible.

Had a pretty descent breakfast in the morning.

Pros: Ideal location, cleanliness, satisfying breakfast

Cons: Outdated décor and no immediate response to internet disruption

The complimentary breakfasts and evening happy hour specials were tasty and appreciated.

Breakfast was ok, there was eggs every day, sometimes with a different addition to them and the breads, bagels and muffins were good, a bit dry.

We appreciated the hot meals (breakfast and dinner) and cold beverages offered each day of our stay.

Breakfast n dinner served and family friendly place to just worry about the attractions and rest is taken care at the hotel

The meals breakfast and dinner were very good.

The room has a fully equipped kitchen and they serve a full breakfast daily.

Dinner one of our two night were delicious homemade cheese enchiladas and rice accompanied by a complementary Modelo beer.

We also appreciated the nice complimentary breakfast as it even had hot items offered.

They have a great selection of breakfast items and there dinners are always good we like to start on Thursday night with hamburgers and hot dogs.The property is very clean.

Like every positive review - everything was great: clean and well-maintained room, comfortable bed, good hot buffet breakfast, solid facilities (pool, fitness center, business center), ample parking, very nice and courteous staff, efficient checkin/checkout, affordable rate (at least the night I stayed), I could go on.

The room I stayed smells, the AC is too loud, the bedding does not fit.

The overpowering fragrance was so intense that it caused my eyes to water and triggered an immediate headache.

however, that, after we pointed out the issues and the fact that we were unsatisfied  with the room and were planning on moving, the front desk staff attempted to have a better room available. When we looked at it, the room had the same deficiencies (mold, unstacked kitchenette, etc.)

The room has a stale smell, The shower floor bubbles / lifts up and feels gritty.

-Sink: smells of bacteria build up whenever you run water.

The room smelled badly—like old cigarette smoke or mold.

Our room floor had something sticky in the tile and the stairways were filthy.

Hotel clerk doesn’t wear mask properly.

All in all, it was ok.

Some of the halls on our floor we very much under construction, and you had to watch where you walk anywhere you're at in the hotel due to construction debris.

To make up for this inconvenience, I was given a room adjacent to the exit where seemingly the entire hotel staff step out to smoke, at all hours of the day and night, along with other guests.

When a person is already showering, a clogged drain cannot be corrected anymore - just deal with it.

There’s a saying as it relates to companies with poor leadership, that, “The fish stinks from the head down.” Not this fish!!!

However there is a pervasive smell in the entryway and throughout the hallways/rooms (actually, 3 different strange smells, I'd say) that were very hard to stomach.

Trust me, I can tell the difference between real and "chemical" eggs and these were the real deal.

There is a shuttle offered and the hotel is really close to the airport; expect construction inconveniences at the airport.

We choose this one for its location close to the airport and it was a great stay.

Only positive was location and proximity to airport.

The Homewood Suites at Liberty Station is very conveniently located in a small oasis near the airport that used to be a Navy training center.

Location is amazing, near the airport, downtown and Liberty Station.

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to the airport with a free airport shuttle.

We needed to be near to the airport for an early departure & this property was exactly was l was looking for.

While I prefer to stay in the Hilton hotels, the Homewood suite was close to the airport and offered a  free shuttle.The location is close to the airport and serves as a good home base for daily excursions.

Great location, close to airport, walking distance to 20+ restaurants, groceries, Trader Joe's, 2 Starbucks, nail salon (for pre-wedding).

It’s close to the airport and there are some good restaurants in the area.

Overall a great stay, and this will probably be my new hotel of choice near the airport.

The Free breakfast is so good it is very clean and the room we got was so accommodating.

As well as the Kitchen staff (Isabel, Fili, Ana, George, Lita and Francisco) for always serving the best breakfast and for a wonderful manager reception (Allison & Virginia)!

The breakfast was great - you can tell they use real eggs for their scramble and everything else was fresh and two steps above what you usually find at a free hotel breakfast.

The staff was friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast was quite good.

Hot Breakfast was a nice touch to our stay & plenty to choose from.

Great breakfast every morning:) Waffles, fruits, bagels, yogurts, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and green salsa was a delight for my family;)  Front desk goes above and beyond to accommodate your requests.

The breakfast is awesome and on weekdays they do happy hour with free beer, wine and snacks!

I asked him what 10,000 Hilton Honors points would correlate to in dollars (I'm guessing a whopping $10), to which he had no idea; leaving me to heat our dinner with the microwave in the public breakfast area.

The buffet breakfast was surprisingly good.

The free breakfast was good and the hotel was in a great location and had some nice outdoor areas.

The breakfast was plentiful, offering a wide variety of selections, included seasoned eggs and ham.

Two days later, Allison had to show me the charges, in depth, because I logged in to see that the credit card company had messed up again.

The parking charges are straight up robbery in my opinion.

We had to leave a day early and they didn't even charge us a penny and were so nice about it.

Only thing that seemed unnecessary was the charge for parking when there was so much room in the parking lot.

Charging $19/night for parking in this area seemed a bit ridiculous.

We were also charged $25 a night for incidentals that should be credited back to us soon.

The hotel does charge for parking and if you do the digital check-in they automatically assume you're parking.

Also be aware of additional parking fee which they never used to charge.

but only because I inquired why the charge was more than I was quoted.

$14/day park fee is not necessary and should not be charged to hotel guests!

They’ve started charging for parking and required me to pay $14 to park in what appears to be a public lot – there are restaurants and stores that share the same lot.

The take the card for “incidentals” and upon checkout there is a $14/day fee.

Just a thought - you should not charge for parking overnight

To the hotel's credit, I reported this when checking out and was comped for parking for one night.

It has a good location and layout and a park close by.

It’s a 10 minute, easy drive to the airport as well as great for plane spotting (but without the noise), and the walk-to Liberty Station neighborhood is full of terrific places to eat and a lovely park along a channel and the bay.

The hotel sits adjacent to a scenic waterway and there’s a large park a block away.

It's delightful to be able to walk right out of the hotel and be in a park setting, the waterfront is beautiful, the pool is heated, the breakfast was good, and my room was very clean and had a nice floorplan albeit slightly small

The area around this hotel is beautiful and it is an easy walking distance to the water, parks.

It's in a park right on the water, walking distance from a trader joes, safeway, starbucks etc.

It also is across the street from a lovely marina-side park and walking path (Spanish Landing), and we had a lovely view of this, as well as the harbor beyond, and downtown San Diego, from our room.

The walking paths around the area are fantastic, as are the local parks, and it was wonderful being within walking distance of so many restaurants and grocery stores.

4) location is right next to a huge park and within a few blocks of a Trader Joe’s and other grocery stores.

Near lots of restaurants, huge park right next to hotel, (great for kids or joggers), by the water and bay and within 15 minutes of so many places!

The daily room cleaners are thorough yet quick, the front desk ALWAYS helped me out, and everything you need is either in the building or right outside of it(pool, basketball court, grill, park, gym, etc).

Close to so many attractions and services: restaurants, Trader Joes, Whole Foods and several parks.

There are so many things close by from restaurants, parks, walking trails, shopping, downtown, really everything you may need.

Great location that open on the a running trail that leads to NTC park.

SeaWorld, Legoland, Zoo and Safari Park).

VERY quiet area on the river just down the street from a park and the rest of Liberty Station which is fantastic.

although this was a couple of miles out of town we found the location nicer, with views over the bay and a lovely quiet park setting right on the water.

There is a heated swimming pool, hot tub, basketball court, walking path, grill and so much more.

There is an outdoor pool, hot tub, the Esplanade (public coastal walking paths), sports courts, grills, on-site laundry, gym rooms, courtyard patio with beautiful garden, a fireplace, they serve a top notch buffet breakfast daily and a have a social (Mon-Wed) with complimentary alcohol (beer, wine, and sangria).

I loved seeing the rabbits and squirrels on the jogging path.
