However, when we asked the next morning for help, they sent a technician who established that the wall unit was broken and pointed us to the control panel on the AC unit itself.

Ultimately, with doors and windows closed (and air conditioner and fan running) we really didn't experience any outside noise.

If you get an ocean front unit, there will be many times a group of 3, 4, 5, or 6 laying on the grass directly below you drinking and smoking cigarettes and pot.

Our air conditioning was broken as was the soap dispenser in the shower so getting the soap out of the plastic bag was a two-person operation.

2) The second night, the air conditioner began churning, clicking, clanking grinding and it was as if there a cement mixer which was falling apart.

The overhead water leaks from obvious old leaking pipes in the concrete structure were ingeniously rigged with homemade contraptions to funnel the dripping leaks (we assume it was only water and not sewage) to the massive floor grate in the garage; and they charged us $20 per night to park in this filthy garage.

The AC unit had to work overtime since it was very hot and humid during our stay.

Running the air conditioning was enough to drown out the noise, and we had great sleeps each night.

Cooled the room down quickly then kept off.

We had two rooms and one of them had problems that were immediately addressed by the management (burnt out heating unit, dysfunctional TV, very noisy people upstairs in the middle of the night).

The only reason I gave it an Average rating is because it needs to be updated esp around the kitchen area, and the air conditioner was loud every time it kicked on.

I would suggest some sort of a fan system to keep the air moving in those areas.

The building could use a/c (the guest rooms have a/c, thankfully)  and the layout is kind of confusing.

though we had it turned down all the way, there was hardly any air coming out of the air conditioner).

in the morning you can make a great walk along the beach

Right on the beach, a block and a half from the bus stop and right in the thick of things going on in Pacific Beach.

The location was excellent--you just walk across the boardwalk to the beach.

This hotel is right on the beach separated only by a pedestrian promenade which in itself makes a colorful scene blending the locals and the visitors.

The location was right next to the beach, so if we wanted to walk, it would be practically outside the hotel.

We were right in the beach within seconds from the pool area so was nice and convenient being in the middle of everything.

It's the perfect place to chill at the beach for a few days.

The Team at Ocean Park Inn, the Property, the Rooms and Views, the near-by shopping/dining/entertainment, and of course the Location on the beach and ocean all combined made for a perfect setting for a whole family celebration of Nan's 80th Birthday.

It has a real beach vibe and is less of a resort (if that‘s what you are looking for).

Perfect location: beach across the street, restaurants across the street and many others nearby, the swimming pool is heated, room was clean and roomy.

For us, this reality is so much better than hotels or vrbo that are across a street and away from the beach.

The location was perfect for the beach, brunch, and all the bars/restaurants.

Incredible view and location, a few steps from the beach, with a jacuzzi and a swimming pool on the way.

It is also walking distance to coffee, food, and the beach had great waves for wake boarding or the zen sound of the ocean.

Outstanding location right on the BEACH, excellent and friendly staff, delicious HOT breakfast!!!

They even rented us beach chairs to use outside on the sand!

The hotel was in the perfect location and we loved the SoCal beach vibe decor of the room.

Close by to restaurants, bars, and of course the beach.

We had an ocean-view room on the second floor with a balcony - a perfect setting for a breakfast with champagne (which we had every morning of our stay :-).

The majority of the staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast was good.

Rooms were very clean, beds and pillows comfy, breakfast was very good as well.

The breakfast was good: make your own waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, breads, yogurt and cereal.

Joanna was awesome for breakfast hours and food is hot and abundant.

This is one of the best places I have stayed very nice super clean looking forward to next year trip so closed to all the food places bed room were very nice and the patio view was amazing and breakfast was so good the only thing I wish they gave free water next time I would bring my own

The vendors sell some great souvenirs and yummy drinks like coconut water out of an actual coconut etc.

Week of stay with family.Need little improvement in service ( breakfast and safety ) .

as you stepped out the gate and a nice outdoor shower when you returned, (4) breakfast available in the morning so little ones could be fed without long waits at local restaurants, (5) great espresso shop just steps outside the gate and otherwise lots of good places to eat within easy walking distance.

Breakfast service was just starting up again in the middle of our trip and we enjoyed it.

They have absolutely no business charging what they do.

but no credit was given for it's absence.

They didn't offer a continental breakfast and yet they still charged us an extra fee for my 14-year-old. Why?

There was no bottled water in the room got charged for them.

Cons: the shutters don’t keep much light out if you are trying to sleep in, poor water pressure in shower, front desk could not replenish voss water bottles in room (these waters are charged to the room $2 each

It looked run down for the prices they were charging (299 a night over weekend!).

They have hotel car parking (might be charged based on your vacation package).

Therefore, we could buy snacks for the room and use our Fry's discount card to get the bargains.

One of the bars we went to charged $12 for a bottle of bud. Ouch!

everything was explained to me: key card use, parking garage, breakfast hours, etc etc.

$15/day charge and only one car per room allowed.

That includes the parking fee they charge you when you check out.

2) I wish they wouldn't charge for parking.

The only negative was that bottled water in the room was charged at $4 a bottle which I consider far too much - I bought water at the 7/11 across the street which was no great inconvenience.

over a month later, a $550.13 charge appeared on my charge card without any confirmation or even a pending charge.

but please make sure to bring them back to the room or a 50.00 charge per towel will be assessed.

but you can come in & out as many times as you want using your room card key once you check in.

I didn't mind paying the additional daily charge of $10 for their gated underground parking.

I got the feeling that the clientele may have been suspect in the past as there were signs informing you that you'll be charged if this or that is missing form the room.

but the elevator was not working -  it was fixed by the next day.

BUT we had no elevator for the majority of our stay and we were on the 3rd floor.

was hard to comprehend that there was no urgency to fix your elevator the two days I stayed in the hotel.

When we arrived, the elevator was working.

I was a bit skeptical at first as I thought it looked old from the outside & elevator in the parking garage.

The only elevator was out of order for hours during the day.

It's in an underground parking garage and you can load your luggage and take it up the elevator.

Even the hallways and the elevators of this beach hotel constantly reeked of marijuana.

Only negative was that the elevator was broken

The only reason I didn’t give it the highest rating was because the elevator was broken almost the whole time we were there!

There are stairs on each wing which we used more than the elevator.

It was a bit of walk from the elevator to our room

Getting up to it was interesting as it was on the far wing, only one elevator, so a bit of a meandering walk down the hall giving you time to take in the very old avocado green carpet and coordinating green paint job on the walls, and those shrivelled net curtains did make me smile   .

When I was getting on the elevator I noticed that the restaurant/bar next door had very loud music late at night.

But the way there is only one elevator on the property,

There is only one elevator, so if your room is ocean front, you have to walk a little more (not bad though).

The hotel had a sign, near the elevators, that said it used chemicals known to cause birth defects and miscarriage.

the standard room without the ocean view would be less appealing to me because when I went to the elevator at night, I could definitely help the extremely loud banter from the restaurant across the alley.

Breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast, elevators were a bit slow, pool area very clean.

Only downfall, one elevator and it was as far from our room 323 as could be possible.

To be fair, the manager was apologetic and gave a small discount for the inconvenience.

Management was of no help when we complained about all the smoke.

When we mentioned it to hotel management they said to be sure to contact them when that happens and they will call the police to deal with it.

We woke up 2 hours later to unbelievable loud noises so much so that the manager came up and advised us to leave everything as is and use the next room to sleep.

Oh and manager deducted $100 from our bill for our “ inconvenience!

Neighbors were ridiculous and management never bothered to correct behavior.

Worst customer service I have ever received from the female day manager.

When I tried to talk to the female day manager, she was rude, very aggressive and unprofessional.

but management could have inquired if this was acceptable upon making the reservation.

The manager comes out to say hello and there's nothing I need that they won't try to get for me.

The manager spoke to me when I went to the front desk, apologized again and said he'd discounted our rate for that night.

I wrote a letter to the General Manager and never even heard a response!

We were in the 1 bedroom partial ocean view suite - and management told us if we had an oceanfront room we most likely would not have heard the noise from the night club.

I wish the manager would spend more time and energy on the hotel itself.

To OPI management : please do not comment, as we already discussed this, and you had no arguments.

I had to check in around 10:30 pm on a Saturday night and called the manager to let him know this earlier that afternoon.

The security guard tracked me down in my room to return it and management called to make sure everything was satisfactory.

but I am very upset that Ocean Park Inn apparently does not allow people to discuss issues with their management.

There is shopping and restaurants along the boardwalk.

So many places to eat and drink in less than a block.

The only housekeeping glich of the whole stay (missing top sheets on sofas in five rooms) was quickly and quietly corrected by Manny and Ivy of the front desk plus husekeeping while we were away from the property for dinner.

Easy to get downtown, to Belmont park, and to food in the area.

The waffles, bacon, and muffins were basically all we ate here after the first day.

Plenty of restaurants & a grocery store across the street.

even though it is next to many bars and restaurants, once you get into your room the noise goes away(well almost-the DJ on the boardwalk outside the hotel all day got very annoying-but that is not the hotel's fault).

There are restaurants and activities for everyone from toddler to age 92!

It's central to all of our favorite food spots and has beautiful views.

Wonderful views, close proximity to ocean & beach, lot of good restaurants nearby.

The hotel is within short walking distance to several restaurants as well as a grocery store which is convenient.

Great restaurants and shopping are close by and there is a supermarket across the highway for convenience.

It is clean and decorated nicely and newer and great views! Perfect!

View was of the vendors selling their stuff.

but you can not see the ocean with all the vendors tents set up on the broad walk.

The rooms overlook the boardwalk and ocean.

Our view was obstructed by street vendors most of the time.

Balcony with beach view and fridge to store your stuff.

The view from the room was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating.

We upgraded to an ocean view room and glad we did!

Bottom line- the view is great, and several of the staff are very nice (the valets especially were all awesome).

Nice shallow ocean there for quite some distance, good for playing & boarding.

Rooms are very comfortable, with nice views on the ocean.

There are TONS of people and vendors on the boardwalk from sun-up to sun-down obstructing the view.

Front of the hotel view is  homeless is sleeping on the grass and tents of vendors and ocean .

The A/C in the room didn't seem to be all that forceful

No hot water, AC puddles in the room, old windows that do not filter the freeway noise that the site sits next to, crappy food (went to in and out and smart n final to get Cup of Noodles for something better tasting than the restaurant), heater that didn't work.

The vents in my room had spiderwebs blowing out to of them.

Our first night we couldn’t seem to get the AC working so Ben from the front desk was nice enough to upgrade our second night to their Superior Room without any additional cost.

but this is really the only disappointment, the AC was a little noisy at times but OK.

but for some the AC is a little outdated and may be a tad loud for others, but didnt bother me or my girlfriend.

The air conditioner in my room went out in the middle of the night both nights I was there.

Rust in the bathtub fixtures, some cracking in the plaster, no exhaust fan in the bathroom--and I did have to evict a spider from the tub the first night.

though there didn't seem to be exhaust fans in the bathroom.

Even with the air conditioner on, we still heard  freeway traffic noise all night, and about 7 am the maintenance crew was pruning the palm trees outside making a lot of noise.

but as soon as you open the window and turn on the AC it's ok. Breakfast was good, a bit on the expensive side.

but all 6 rooms we seen were identical to what we already had so switching served no purpose.

the bathroom really fits one person only, unless the other is showering; there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your stuff up a flight of stairs (it's only 2-story and built prior to the Americans with Disabilities Act); the parking is a bit cramped and cost $14, which I wasn't a big fan of,

I mentioned that the hotel we had stayed in the night before wouldn't accommodate us 1 hour before check in and gave us a room with a view of an aircon unit.

The A/C kicking on and off all night kept both of us awake.

They give out free pancakes for kids at breakfast with purchase of 1 adult breakfast.

The convention price was very good and included breakfast, which was at convenient times with good food and good service.

They have a breakfast ‘buffet’ for $15 per person,

Room service breakfast is supposedly available from 7am,

Free breakfast ,centrally located,close to a lot of things to see and do .Provided free parking close to all rooms.

You will noticed that the staff are nice from the room service cleaning ladies to the waitress at the “restaurant “ for free complimentary breakfast.

The $15 buffet needed more hot items, and the quality was just OK.

Juan in the cafe was a delight -- going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for breakfast in the morning.

Breakfast was great (Juan our waiter was perfect!).

The breakfast was amazing and the servers were always helpful.

Our stay included breakfast which was the choice of:

- healthy start (yoghurt and granola)
- pancakes/waffles

We appreciated the complementary parking close to our room and the location was good for getting around to the different tourist attractions such as the zoo, Balboa Park and Old Town.

Ten minute drive to beach, Coronado Island, breweries and Balboa Park.

Absolutely gross hotel under the disguise of somewhere actually decent.

The room was clean  they were able to a join my room to the kids room which was great.

The restaurant was clean, inviting, and well ran.

The room was clean and spacious, very comfortable beds (with a view over the freeway).

Glad to know I just picked the wrong time to show up and have everything work and see a clean hotel.

Everything is well kept  and spotlessly clean,especially the rooms!

Out dated and I found no elevator to the second floor.

The only elevator is to accomodate staff!

If I had to find a fault with the Handlery, the one thing I could mention is the lack of either a ramp or a lift to the second floor, which would have made it a bit awkward with heavy luggage had an accommodating employee not been right there to give us a hand.

There are no elevators, so if you have problems with stairs, you need to notify staff when reserving a room.

Was dismayed to find the two story hotel did not have an elevator.

I stayed on a second floor, and found it odd that they didn’t have an elevator.

This is a 2 story facility and I’m not sure if there is an elevator so be aware of that.

My only concern is there are no elevators and I have a lot of luggage when I travel so I would be happy on an upper floor if there was a lift.

Pros - central location, restaurant onsite, clean room
Cons - no elevators, not enough pillows, very small room and bathroom, look out for extra charges with room service

There were many people hanging out in the hall that assured us it was true that there was no elevator.

Checked in on Friday May 25 2018 I got the keys to my room went upstairs because they have no elevator so walked two flights of stairs .

Appreciate due to the nature of the building that there can be no elevator

Unfortunately, our friend had a hurt leg and we couldn't easily access the room (no elevator).

There are no elevators so ask for a 1st floor if you find stairs difficult.

Had a room in a building that faced the pool, on the second floor WITH NO ELEVATOR.

Had to ride around a bit to find a place to park and carry our luggage to the second floor since there was no elevator.

No elevator means you have to schlep you luggage up and down the stairs.

took multiple calls to front desk to halt an all night party across the hall.

but you are trapped in a 5 by 5 foyer and I had to use my cell phone light to see where I was.

But not even a call to my room to warn me?

but needless to say I have not had a call back.

We were advised that if it continues after 10pm to ring and then they could send security up.
