When the waitress came, she demanded cash or credit card on the spot.

No attempt to get them to either refund, OR to either keep the money and use it as credit for my next stay, were successful.

And is really unacceptable that Espresso and Cappuccino are only with extra charge!!!

I have been 3 times in Kharkiv and tried 4 hotels already - it's simply the best - it's worth it's price if you don't like funny and bad surprises - staff is attentive and very friendly - they speak English - in other places you find everything - from ignorant  to indifferent and even stupid staff - rooms are excellent - take a superior room at least - in no other country you will find such a luxury environment for the same price - maybe in Malaysia and Colombia

but guests have to make their own coffee from a similar mashines you finde at a 3* hotel, but if you catch the English speaking waiter you can get a real handmade cappuccino.

It felt like we were the only guests, which was a bit weird.

She created a sale that did not exist and since it was early and few other guests.

However management should balance thr logidtics of each gunction against the vomfort of guests.

also, the waitresses at the sky lounge need to brush up on the customer service- they were incredibly rude to me and my guests- we asked for a table and were told by a lady with the biggest fake smile i've ever seen that all of the tables were reserved except for the one in the very corner in the separate room.

although it doesn't have the brand of luxury like western chains, anyone staying here will notice their attention to detail to make guests feel at home.

although some female guests may not appreciate the exotic video that plays on the numerous video screens.

Either I had a 'discount' and it should be applied automatically or I did not and the question was irrelevant and annoying in front of guests.

All expected amenities are there for guests, and then some.

There is a shopping arcade with ridiculously overpriced stores that cater to the type of clientele that the hotel seems to attract.

I just wish it was enforced that the guests left their coats before entering the restaurant.

Unfortunately common in Ukraine and Russia, where guests are not civilized.

As one other guest wrote: ". the culture and mentality issue and attitude can be bothering from time to time."

As far as I've heard, this place haven't been fully occupied since the Soccer Championships and we did not run into many other guests during our visit which is slightly worrying.

The hotel doesn't come cheap and therefore the lack of English language knowledge of many of the staff is definitely a weakness the management should address.

The hotel response was top professional – not only the issue was addressed immediately as well as at check-out, I also received a phone call from the guest manager few days after we have left.

But still hotel management should do something about

Beware of a string hanging down above the bathtub - it's an alarm system activation :) - we got a call from front desk right away inquiring if everything was Ok. Would probably recommend the hotel management to put a note there explaining what that is.

The management's politic during the euro 2012 was really absurd

When I got to my room, the music was still loud.

It is now midnight and there are still loud construction noises coming from the lobby.

The piano player in lobby bar was so loud made it impossible to rest, think or nap in late afternoon or early evening.

(The croissant I picked up could have  been used as a blunt weapon, had the need have arisen)

At check-out, the receptionist told me out loud how much the total bill came to.

Soundproof in the room could have been better – Friday party music from the lounge bar above was well heard,

To a person, everyone I dealt with in my 4-day stay was efficient, polite and conscientious.

but any case the  parking was available  for free, room clean the staff was gentle , breakfast available , maybe room was little small, but badroom big.

Pleasant staff and we did order room service and it was good.

However staff great as usual and I hope this hotel can maintain its usual standards.

All of the staff speak perfect English a huge plus for those like me who don’t speak Russian or just a few greetings.

From english speaking staff to map of the city, this hotel is better than 5 star hotels I have stayed at around the world.

The staff graciously filled my thermos every morning with green tea.

The only things I missed were washcloths, I was told they weren't available, and had to do with only a hand and bath towel.

When housekeeping left me a “fresh” towel that smelled like an ashtray, the front desk had someone at my door with a new set of towels in about two minutes.

While I do not need new towels, I do like my towels to be at least semi-plush (you know, some softness left).

Friendly staff and security man, who helped us a lot during our stay when our keycard did not work (we had to replace our cards almost every 3-4 days - 4 times total) which was annoying when you walked up to the last floor just to walk back down - keep in mind that there's no elevator, could be a problem for people who need some accessibility.

No there is no elevator, ask in advance for a room on the ground floor if needed.

Hotel is located in historical building and doesn’t have elevator, so climbing to the third floor could be a downside for families with little kids or senior visitors

Cost was 210UAH, or roughly US$7.Only one tiny drawback - no elevator so be prepared to climb some stairs.

There is no elevator, so be ready to go upstairs and to sweat a little haha.

The building is 3 storeys high and there are no lifts.

NOTE: There is no elevator for special needs or handicapped.

Note: there is NO elevator, and stairs are rather steep, so elder or disabled person might better stay on ground floor.

Rooms and interior are very cool, staff is friendly and helpful.

From the comfort and quality of the hotel to the restaurant and the friendly service, I wish I could take Hotel 19 and Abajour everywhere.

I was taken there by an extremely nice young Lady Kate an IT specialist who had used the hotel for her Company.

They are so helpfull and know very well english because generally ukranian people dont know english.

Most of all it is the staff of Hotel19 that make it a rare diamond.

The staff was excellent (and spoke very good English).

The staff all speak at least some English so they were very helpful to me and even helped with learning some Russian.

I recently stayed at this hotel and I’m very pleased with the quality of service - professional, friendly and helpful front desk staff.

The service is just perfect and extremely friendly.

They arranged a driver to collect me at the airport - (the safest/simplest option) - and were friendly and helpful throughout the three night stay.

I really liked the staff members, who were helpful and friendly and could converse well in English.

.hotel is just 20 minutes walk from Central Sumska Street (or even faster with the bus) (really great place for walking with the variety of shops, restaurants, museums and other interesting places for visiting). Thus, in the evenings, having some free time, I even managed to “Site Seeing” a bit :)

Twice I have stayed here, close to the airport and clean, eating here is a chance of pot lucky ordered a meal and it was obviously microwaved as the centre was cold so there after I ate outer decent restaurant is across the road.Staff were very accommodating,and very helpful, one issue is most time getting a double bed is pot luck! !

The staff has removed the remotes for AC from all rooms and is unable to provide me with one until tomorrow.
