Just got back from Ischgl had another great vacation at the hotel sonne as always nice to be greeted by Peter and Sonia on my arrival always good start to my vacation staff very friendly as normal food selection/ breakfast perfect and eggs how u want them omelettes perfectly cooked by a very friendly chef evening meals great choices to pick from they will always make u some thing else as I’m very fussy which is not a problem for them

* High-quality food:  the hotel offers delicious, gourmet-level food both at the full board dinner options as well as in the cozy downstairs a la carte restaurant.

Both the BF buffet and the evening meals were perfect, could not have wished for anything else!

All made with the best (and probably local) ingredients.

It may be an option to potentially offer bed and breakfast if people are travelling with fussy teens.

Breakfast is wonderful with everything you might want for breakfast and a cook who bakes your eggs to perfection in any possible fashion.

We had a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived when a hotel driver had taken care of the cars and parked them for us, through the beautiful and specious room that we stayed at, the location of the hotel right at the center of Ischgl and right next to the tunnel that takes you to the Fimba Gondola, and the superb breakfast and superb dinner we had during our stay at the Sonne Hotel.

Chef would do you an omelette or eggs as you like.

Every night is fine dining at its best, the breakfast buffet so plentiful you could spend hours just eating.

The rooms were excellent, the food delicious and we look forward to visiting again.

..there is a €2 euro charge for a carafe of tap water on an evening, not at breakfast, and this is puzzling..this should really be free.

tap water 2 euros the carafe (first time in my life I have been charged for tap water across the globe).

Wellness/Fitness
The small fitness room has the basics, which is enough during vacation: cross-trainer, bike, treadmill, weight/strength machine, balance board and vibration plate.

but make sure you buy water in the Spar shop up the street, as they charge €7 for a jug of tap water! !

We were never charged for either them or me staying, my mum was refunded for the nights not staying as she returned home early and all the staff went out of their way to make the days that we still had to stay in Ischgl as little traumatic as possible.

There was no jacuzzi as seen in brochures and pictures and the jet showers were all out of function which was a shame.

We found the location quieter than the other side of the town/tunnel where there may be more noise from apes ski bars.

The spa has a very small swimming pool, again a small Greek Ancient statute of Aphrodite here near fake plants, the jet back massage wasn't working, no jacuzzi and beyond that in the room brochure was written that was for adult only (nude areas)  you could see kids everywhere.

but away from the noise of the centres drinking areas!

but there was noise coming from the level above our room, I think there was a technical room.

There was a little bit of noise from people coming home late at night -

but could still hear the music in the background.

At first sight I did not like Ischgl very much, as I am used to quiet and small villages,

Our room was a bit disappointing: it was neither noise nor smell proof!

The swimming pool is very small & children are reprimanded for making noise as it disturbs the so called 'paying customers' in the relaxation suite!

The sound of the church bells very early in the morning was a bit annoying,

- Noise: you do hear the church bells at 6:45am since the hotel is right next to the church and there are a lot of people partying in the town at night.

It must be noted that the street is at times festive, meaning noisy outside.

It was full of children (of Russian vacationers) who were screaming and making too much noise uninterrupted and even encouraged at times by their parents.

That said, the courtyard did help prevent us from hearing any late night revelers on the streets below.

Or even better, because their chief (dinner, snacks at 4pm and breakfast are included in the room price) cooks better then your wife and mom, I think, at least better then mine :)) lockers for ski/snowboards, spa complex and convenient location are included as well.

Plus, the food (both breakfasts & dinners) are incredible!

I was in ischgl ski resort last week,i stayed at hotel ARNIKA,it was amazing hotel with friendly staff,the rooms was  clean,the food was very delicious with lovely staff.the location was very close to ski lift,we had great time at this hotel,hope to be there  in future again.

Besides breakfast and dinner there is an afternoon snack available every day, freshly prepared.

From the excellent breakfast, the afternoon snack and the unbelievable dinners we ate there.

Breakfast is superb and come dinner time you are in for a real gourmet experience where the chef, Stefan, has put together a superb menu, varied daily.

but not only was breakfast included with our stay, but a 6-8 course gourmet meal is also included.

I was very impressed with the dinner service which included rolls with spread, soup, salad from the salad bar, a starter, main, dessert and cheese platter every night.

Breakfasts, snacks, dinners and deserts; everything was delicious.

The food is delicious and served in a cosy restaurant with great choice of lovely wines. The hotel is close (150m?)

Their Chef should defintely get a Michelin Star!!!

Before I booked Arnika I read in these reviews and somewhere there is a comment that the hotel belies its official 3 star rating, and that comment is spot on.

The front desk got our lift tickets, arranged a taxi the day we left to go to St. Anton for the train, and when I needed a computer charger the family even took me to his apartment to borrow one from his son!

We knew we wanted to stay in a 1/2 board hotel and not just a B&B, as we were traveling with our 5 year old.

You can make your packed lunch from anything at breakfast.

An amazing breadth of options each night, constantly varied, well prepared, and incredibly tasty, and the salad buffet and two nightly soups were constantly changed, further increasing the options.

Meals at both breakfast and dinner were faultless and all the staff and the owners were polite and prompt without being in any way awkward.

The breakfasts and evening meals are all that you could wish for, with the bonus that you are allowed to create your own 'packed lunch' from the sumptuous breakfast table.

Inghams guests are entitled to make themselves a free packed lunch from the breakfast buffet each day: others may do so on payment of 2.20 Euros per lunch.

The food was consistently good - the fish dishes in particular were superb - and being able to pack a lunch from the breakfast buffet (Inghams customers) was a great bonus.

This family run establishment has everything you could wish for - brilliant location, fabulous rooms which are clean and spacious, staff who are friendly and helpful and great food - plentiful and delicious!

Friendly and efficient service, very comfortable spacious bedroom, pleasant lounge with a view over the village and up the valley, attractive restaurant providing a variety of hot and cold breakfast dishes plus a 5 course evening meal, with a choice of 4 dishes for the main course.

but one day I had a nasty ski accident which meant I couldn't walk - on my return to the hotel from the hospital a wheel chair was available and dinner was served in our room for us.

There is now an enclosed smoking lounge so no longer any problem with cigarette smells affecting the bar, dining room etc.

It is a real shame for those of us that don't smoke.

Most rooms (if not all) have a balcony - most seem to be shared balconies where guests are permitted to smoke.

The staff seemed to congregate in the dining room after dinner and the smoke from their cigarettes was wafting out the dining room door as you passed by.

but the music and friendly atmosphere in the Eagle pub was a welcome retreat after a hard days walking.Although on the downside for non smokers, smoking is still allowed inside.

The spa area is very relaxing and doesn't have that "damp" smell that some places have.

but the only thing we could find to complain to each other about was the smoking in the bar which is something which is in every bar - one day they will catch up with us in the UK.

but not spirits - G&T was 7.5 Euros whereas a large beer (0.5L) was 3.2 Euros) but the lounge area got a little smoky at times - I thought that Austria passed a law in 2003 forbidding smoking in public places?

(E) there are no snacks served with drinks, no cake or coffee or water for when you get back from the slopes.

Drinks are quite pricey and we were shocked to be charged for a carafe of tap water [3 Euro].

This hotel subscribes to the €1 charge per litre of tap water served to your table – a growing practice in hotels that I object to.

The food at the hotel was wonderful and the only gripes regarding the dining experience was that the hotel charges for tap water even if you buy alcohol and that the tables are rather close to each other.

Our biggest gripe was having to pay 2 euros for a carafe of tap water with dinner.

There was a 2euro charge for tap water which we found a bit strange

However there was a charge of 2 Euros for a jug of tap water and if you asked for more then you were charged more.

The only gripe I would have is the €2 charge for a carafe of tap water which I think is a little cheeky.

Invariably someone will ask to add scoops of water to the fire.

The room was spacious, well decorated and very clean, the breakfast superb.

Our son has Inflammatory bowel disease so we made some special requests for breakfast - staff went over and above to help.

Compliments to Josef behind the bar and also at breakfast.

There was also the option of boiled eggs too.

As such the hotel is of a great standard very comfortable great boot ski room the buffet in the breakfast was always well stocked and the evening meals had well thought out menus which you could chose from the night before and the food was of a high standard.

Breakfast and evening meals offer wide choice and are plentiful and tasty.

It is clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast and dinner is very good.

The evening meal is a sumptious 5 course offering which never fails to please.And breakfast ( hot or cold or both) has a good variety of choices to suit every taste.

Breakfast was everything you could wish for and as good as any on offer at any hotel I have stayed in.

The hotel provides a substantial buffet breakfast, and a good five course evening meal.

Somehow I left my ski-jacket at the hotel and they were kind enough to post it overseas to my home address at no charge!

At the end if the week, we were charged for wi fi usage.

We paid cash when we ordered our drinks unfortunately one of our party forgot and was charged for 2 G & Ts 2 bloody marys and 2 coffees when he only ordered a beer.

No wine included with the meal , and boy do they know how to charge for wine and no complimentary coffee/tea after the meal, and they weren't cheap either, so by the time you've added all those in it's certainly another 150 euros on your spending money.

We've met the guys who are complaining about Corina charging drinks they didn't have.

Corina charges for drinks you haven't had and when you bring this to the attention of the owners they don't want to know.

I think the barmaid is on commision and sends drinks over that you don't want and charges you for them, all quite wrong.

Only problems were getting up/down driveway with ski boots and being charged for water.

There are far better hotels in this price category in Ischgl so try to avoid Albona if you can.

In light of the rudeness following the wi fi issue , I just paid it to avoid further rudeness.

)The hotel had a reputation - or at least its spinster sisters Elizabet and Angela did and our stay got off on the wrong foot long before we arrived at the hotel when our resort rep handed us 10 welcome packs for the 11 rooms we had reserved and paid for.

Also if you order them through the hotel, when you get your lift passes check the dates, one of our chaps had an error and it cost him his ticket depost of 5 euros , no danger of the sisters accepting responsiblity for the error.

Having seen some adverse comments on Tripadvisor regarding bar bills we paid cash for all our drinks,

Well, I guess they got a lot more then they paid for.

All that I can say is pay more and go somewhere else, its no surprise that this is always the last hotel available !!!!!!

Unless you bought a bottle of expensive wine you were charged five pounds for water.

but maybe that is also due to the fact that the owners smoke themselves.

Yes, it does smell a little bit of cigarettes after 10 pm.

There was a constant smell of bins at one time and the sauna at the other.

Don't expect it to be smoke free, both the bar and the restaurant allowed smoking.

Smoking is a major problem in this hotel and appears to be for the benefit of the owners and staff and not considering the clients.

As a non smoker this made staying in the area very uncomfortable.

Drinking water in plastic bottles, hidden under the table. ..

After battles on two successive nights, we managed a very grudging concession of one litre of tap water per night.

In terms of food, both the lavish breakfast buffet, the afternoon snack and the evening meal were very tasty.

The food is excellent, extensive breakfast buffet with everything you could think of, including a hot buffet and an omelette menu.

The staff are pleasant and helpful, the food is very good, we stayed half board, the breakfast was mostly buffet style and much better than your average hotel, the evening meal was definitely a cut above what you would find in most Ski hotels.

We were a group of nine people and we always had the same table for dinner and breakfast.

Guests are assigned to stay in the same dining venue and same table, every day for breakfast and dinner for one week.

The dinner was excellent as well as the breakfast.

Food is high standards and very good at breakfast, snack after skiing and dinner.

The breakfasts and dinners were well presented and tasty.

Food is good and there is plenty, a 5 course dinner every night and a fantastic breakfast.

The main thing is gluten free meal- wide choice for breakfast, for example several kind of fresh bread, muesli and so on!!

The hotel is located across a sort of strip bar, hence attracting nightly many noisy men and women looking for a good time, getting drink and being very noisy in the road in front of the hotel until 4 to 5 am.

although you might prefer a room to the back to avoid the street noise from party goers during the night.

We had a room near the front, which was a tiny bit noisy in the early hours when the late night PESCI`s are turning out of the clubs,

.For the rates they charge and the space you get - never again.

Public spaces is rather limited - very small bar and just few tables in the reception area.

On the negative side, the bed we had was really just not that comfortable as the mattress was too soft, the pillows felt like they had hey in them and the temperature in the room was very high (and we could not control this ourselves).

The only thing we did not understand was high temperature on corridors.

The food was of a good standard in the buffet.

We have booked halfboard, the 6 courses dinner are really average, cheapest ingredients, a meal to forget.

The restaurant is wood-lined and very nice, and the food was good - varied buffet breakfast and good evening menu, up to the standard of the better Austrian alpine hotels we have stayed at.

The breakfast buffet was good and I appreciated the fact that bags were provided for you to take whatever you wanted for a picnic on a day hike.

The breakfast was huge and well assorted with various eggs to your order, fresh bread etc.

Rooms are a bit dated to be honest (but very clean) and the service, communal areas / facilities and dining more than compensates
