Had a great stay at the Raincliffe Hotel for 2 nights - The location was brilliant not far to walk into town or on the sea front.

but were pleased to hear that our room was ready and we were able to have a quick freshen up and leave our luggage before taking a pleasant stroll of around 10minutes to the sea front.

This is a cosy place amongst some fine English red brick buildings with an easy stroll down to the sea front and faded grandeur of this northern town.

Our room was immaculately clean and nicely decorated.

This hotel is very well run, the rooms are immaculate, there is a nice well stocked bar and the food is excellent.

However the people were lovely, the room was clean and well appointed.

Stayed and the Raincliffe hotel for a couple of days absolutely spot on host vicki and Steve were very welcoming nothings to much trouble lovely comfy bed room spotlessly clean .

The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy and the staff are friendly and welcoming and the breakfast which was included was very nice which is all we could have asked for given the reason for our trip.

Our room was very clean and looked like it had been re decorated recently .

First visit to Scarborough, booked this Hotel based on online reviews and wasn’t disappointed, we have stayed in many seaside hotels/B&B’s and this one is by far the cleanest we have EVER stayed in, breakfast lovely and all staff nice and friendly, 5-10 minute walk to the seafront, would definitely return

but we enjoyed very favourable weather & the trips to Whitby, Brid, Beverley, Pickering & the North Yorkshire Moors (including Goathland)were very enjoyable.

Jamie was very good entertainer also worked very hard behind the Bar all rounder.,We went to Bridlington.Pickering  Beverley, Goathland home of Heartbeat the TV programme.

We enjoyed outings to Pickering, Goathland, Whitby, York, Beverley and Bridlington and had an enjoyable free day on Wednesday exploring Scarborough snd listrning to an organ concert in the Spa complex.

Unfortunately the room was situated just above the kitchen, and we had the noise from the extractor from early hours of the morning, and in the afternoons.

The only downside unfortunately for me as a light sleeper is the noisy floorboards

Very creaky floorboards and very thin walls in bedroom.

if you elderly and tired you cannot go to sleep before 10.30 as the music from under the floor is like they are in your bedroom you could even sing with them as you can hear every word and the sink in the bathroom vibrates to the noise plus when bingo is being called you hear the numbers too it’s such a shame as the hotel and staff are really good

The only real problem was noise from the Smokers area, several floors below us.

not aceptable thats why do not disturb was on door daaaaa complained to chinese girl on desk who was ruid to man next to her trying to help should be sacked.went from bad to worse went to bed early that evening as long drive next day 2.45 am doors banging loud voices either drunk or not all there.

Walls are really thin, can hear other guests talking/watching TV as if it is in your room.

We could hear the other residents sleeping snoring caughing which deserved sleep.

but so noisy, from corridor and other floors.food was ok. Staff ok, definitely would not return, for what you pay and what you get disappointing

It was very noisy with traffic, people  banging doors etc.

Only 1 fault  could hear alot of noise from room above.

When we arrived back at our hotel around 9.30 pm the noise from the entertainment was deafening.

It was loser in my room than when I went down to reception to complain after a phone call had no effect as they couldn't hear what I was saying because of the 'entertainment'.

The cacophony every morning from the seagulls is awful, and its on a noisy  through road at the front.

The only downside were the creaky floors & the people above were getting up at 4.30 in the morning, luckily they left after 3 nights!! !

This hotel does take coach parties, so can be noisy at times when the coach picks them up, so request a room at the back of the hotel to avoid this.

She went inside the kitchen and called over to Phil, “Phil, you’re wanted, they've started already” How rude is that, I’m not an imbecile and could clearly hear her as I’m standing just outside the door, and who are they've?

Apart from the entertainment on the Saturday night of Wett and Wilde( time to pack it in) who spoilt the weekend with excessive volume to me to their equipment far far  to loud from the microphones both in the Bingo and the singing, we may have another reunion next year

Visited Scarborough for a concert in the lovely open air arena and booked the Cumberland, friendly staff and nice clean rooms at a really good price, rooms a bit outdated decor wise

iv just come back from staying at the cumberland  for the first time with alfa travel for a short break  what a nice hotel the staff are very nice  very good service at meal times with a good choice of  menu  the room was very good nice and clean evening entertainment  could  be improved

The entertainment was first class and finished at 10.30 each night.

but the hotel was fine stayed here before food good & entertainment was great room was small but clean first time we had been on a t &turkey it was very nice

There is entertainment on 6 evenings a week which is reasonably good.

Singers are also good keeping us all entertained.

The Cumberland Hotel is situated on the south cliff in SCARBOROUGH  a well run hotel the rooms are spacious & are well serviced a good range of meals great You at dinner time in the large dining room  nightly entertainment is provided in an equally large ballroom all the staff from cleaners bar staff waiters/waitresses receptionists all wear face masks during Your stay.

Wednesday: chef special: Sausage and Mash 
Starter: Mixed melon and pineapple medley.

We both had a fantastic evening- old fashioned entertainment- just perfect!

We were never asked if we wanted more , Entertainment was distinctly average , Paul Tilley was quite good

Entertainment was on each evening along with couple games bingo.

The cabaret was excellent each night and  very enjoyable.

However due to social distancing the bar was also used as a dining room, and the dining room as well as used for dinning was also used for entertainment.

The Hotel is in a prime location and easy access to The Spa and promenade or to the Valley Bridge / Rail Station / Bus Stops (10 mins walk).

The Hotel is well located just a short walk from the town centre, or down to the South bay or the spa,

We are regular visitors to this beautiful town and have always stayed on the Esplanade in the big white one with the Spa (no names mentioned) believing it to be the best in Scarborough.

We used the Cliff lift down to sea level and spent several hours in the Spa complex & band stand area( lots & lots of seats to use) just letting the world go by drinking tea.

The hotel is nice, in a good location near to the Spa.

If you prefer you can go via the cliff tram down to the Spa, where you can catch a bus into the town.

but we were very much looking forward to weekend away together alone at the hotel and attending The Spa.

Food was amazing as always and plenty of choice to choose from on the menu.

A great holiday from start to finish lovely clean hotel.very welcoming ,Christmas decorations look lovely all through the hotel ,food was plentiful and plenty of choices, entertainment every evening as this was a shearing holiday we also had two great days out our driver Byron knew all about the places we visited and each trip was very interesting .

Went on a 4 day break for 2 friends special birthdays, the staff were brilliant, couldn't of been more helpful and friendly, food lovely with plenty of choice.

Rooms were clean and tidy with good towels and good quality bathing products good complimentary tray .We couldn't fault any of the staff and the food was good.We only seen the entertainment on Tuesday night and he was great with the kids ,a good all-round entertainer,overall a good short holiday at a great price.We will be back thanks again

The staff were lovely, very friendly, especially Rachael on the desk, the gentleman who served us at dinner and lady who served our breakfast (sorry, I can't remember their names).

On the Sunday evening the dining staff excelled themselves again as they had a birthday card and gifts set out on the table for my birthday too.

Great service from the restaurant manager Eddie, who found us a different table when friends joined us midweek for a short stay.

Had everything we wanted, clean rooms, hot water, friendly staff and food was fine for what we paid.

The room was excellent , the food was excellent and the staff were excellent.The restaurant manager was brilliant , attending to each guest like they were royalty.

The dining staff were very polite and attentive with the offer of kippers or poached eggs accommodated without any fuss or delay.

Yet again we end up at the New Southlands Hotel and are not disappointed ,from checking in to checking out there was no problems.Car parking is reasonably priced rooms are clean,breakfasts are great and staff are spot on,thanks again for another great break.

Just returned from a 5day National holiday to the Bay New Southlands, another great week,(only this time we drove there, and parked car on hotel carpark).Hotel nice and warm,our  room was very clean, with such a comfy bed, lovely large shower, only gripe, very cold draught through window, and heating only intermittent,

This hotel is not pretentious in any way, it offers warm cozy rooms which are clean and a good evening meal and hearty breakfast in the morning.

The first evening there was a singer in the lounge which was a pleasant surprise.

We were pleasantly surprised that there was entertainment at this time of the year and we had the most wonderful evening being entertained by Paul Tilley, a vocalist and guitarist.

There  was entertainment on 2 nights of our stay and both singers were very good.

Enjoyed the acts on a night, Nik and another male singer were very good.

but we did) we really enjoyed ourselves, even the entertainment with a live singer on sat night was good.

There was entertainment in the lounge and the lady "sunny" behind the bar was a credit to the hotel  with her cheery and friendly service.

We watched the entertainment which was on three nights during our stay, the best one by far was on the Tuesday, Paul Tilly he is excellent on his guitar and a very good singer.

Entertainment on two of the 3 nights was outstanding.just a 2 minute walk to the esplanade with the most spectacular views of beautiful Scarborough.

Food was excellent and the entertainment was good too.

Overall a fantastic midweek break with great staff, enjoyable food and very good evening entertainment.

but the window above the bath was in a disgusting condition (very difficult to get to without proper equipment) and there was a big brown stain on the bedroom ceiling in our room 117.

There was no musty smell that I often encounter in other seaside hotels.

The underside of the toilet was disgusting and did not flush properly.

The bed was really uncomfortable, the bathroom had black mould all round the shower; the shower curtain didn’t stop the water leaking out of shower (and was a really really small shower space, impossible to bend while in there) toilet might of leaked too.

The room had obviously been sanitised judging by the smell of bleach which was reassuring.

There was nothing 'deep cleaned' about this hotel and I wish I had brought my own bleach!

I've just come back from a weekend there and I have to say the room was filthy.

We went down for evening meal which was a huge let down as all the evening meals were disgusting, the breakfast was the best meal of the day.

On the way home, the coach was cramped and toilet stank.. again..

My sister and I have just stayed at this hotel with national holidays, we had a fantastic time and are hoping to return .we requested a room near the lift and we were given room 115 which was ideal because I have breathing problems and can't walk very far, the hotel also took this into account when allocating our table in the dining room and seated us near the door.

Chairs in rooms could be a tad comfier they are dining room chairs not arm chairs which is a shame as a sewer I would have liked to see by the window in an afternoon

It is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING that there was just one member of staff on duty.

When nothing happened we spoke to another receptionist who came up to our room, she agreed there was a background odour that affected her throat.

but they would see if they could get rid of the smell.

their was a little bit of mold around the edges in the bathroom around toilet and bath.

Windows so dirty that you could write MUCK on them, drain smells in the bathroom.

The single supplement for a single "cupboard" was a disgrace,the bathroom minute,and smelt of sewers,the blanket on the bed needed throwing out.Hotel refurbed from the bothom upwards ,only didnt reach the bedrooms.Mealtimes were a bit chaotic,but food wasnt bad.Poor value for money.Wake up Shearings.

No soundproofing in my room whatsoever and yes I had closed the window.
