The air conditioner in our room would only run for 10 minutes and shut off.

The airconditioning in the corridors is set on such a low temperature that it is like walking in a fridge.

I sleep with the room fan on low and heard no noise.

It felt really odd walking past it as it blew on your head.

Cons - thermostat didn't work will and the room was quite hot, pool was cold.

Hot tub was broken and the pool was freezing so the kids were disappointed.

we had a view of a wall and an industrial unit.

The 'low' fan just seems really, really high.

but make sure the room you get is not near the make up air unit.

You'll have to call the front desk to ask them to configure the unit in continuos ventilation mode or.

However, in the middle of the night on both nights, the A/C unit on "fan" would shut off for no reason, causing the room to get very warm (on a cool night) and waking me up.

My only comment was the heating fan ran all night - our only choice would have been to shut it off completely.

I've stayed in a lot of rooms where it was either scorching, or freezing - it's no good when you're too hot or cold.

Holiday inn Express obviously understands that having an accessible room is not just installing a grab bar.

That same morning there was a funky smell coming from the HVAC that could be described as well used hockey gear.

The only thing I could complain about is that the AC was noisy and the room door was not sound proof.

Room was very clean, pillows were excellent, large screen TV, and the continental breakfast was excellent.

We all love hot turkey sausages and hot pancake.

Breakfast and the lady who serve breakfast went above beyond to serve us and other customers.

Breakfast was included and set us up for the day.

The breakfast buffet was minimal and cold foods.

The breakfast was excellent and the dining area was spacious.

Pool was excellent for the kids, and the rooms were spacious

The breakfast was a bit unorganized

We didn’t partake of the complimentary breakfast.

The complimentary breakfast was great, the portion was enough to last us through the morning hikes.

Many hotels are doing a grab and go breakfast instead,

But the breakfast will still be the same industrial swill.

but quite dark Breakfast was included which was very good No safe in rooms  Beds very comfortable We had a microwave with plates and cutlery I found this very good.

Breakfast was above average with omelets, sausage, bacon, bagels, freshly made cinnamon rolls, cereals, yogurts, etc.

They was an odor in the hallways that was like wet clothes smell.

One thing that really messed our stay was the noise which was coming from the corridors and from the room above us.

We also encountered cleaning staff in the hallways every day with their masks off around their chins, at a time when a provincial mask mandate was in place.

We used a family room in the basement and found the hallways there to be quite cold.

however the noise  coming from the hallway and room above ruined any chance of a peaceful stay.

We experienced a constant turmoil in the hallways and in the lobby that while not really bothersome was at least a little disquieting.

The room we were put in was located at the end of the hallway on the main floor..there was mud all over the hallway floors and garbage was overflowing from the garbage bin by the door..I suspect it was because of all the oilfield workers staying there

Between the howling dog and the loud men who were presumably practicing their bowling skills in the hallway at 2 am to the loud banging, shouting and cursing across the hall for someone wake the **** up and open the door at 5am I barely slept.

We could hear everyone talking as they passed in the hallway.

The hallway to get to the room from the elevator in the basement was extremely loud from the noise of all the hotel systems.

I was disappointed with the mud all over the parking lot from guests' vehicles, and the dirt that was tracked into the lobby, hallways, elevator, etc, and wasn't cleaned up.

So the place was near full, and you could hear people in the hallway, and people walking in the room above us.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our breakfast - good to have a decent hot option.

The room was incredibly spacious, the kitchen in the suite larger than expected, the service was exceptionally friendly, the breakfast was hardy and they had delicious cookies at the front desk.

Not only were we able to bail out of the quality inn they were able to accommodate an extremely early check in to not disrupt our sightseeing in Jasper with all our luggage. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was amazing (they even offered us breakfast upon an early check in!)

The breakfast consisted on basic fruit, yogurt and prepackaged muffins.

but the pan was probably 10 inches and was very uneven, so when I tried to fry eggs, they all ran to the side of the pan that was in the air and didn’t touch the burner.

Breakfast even with the covid implements was still great and a wonderful variety!

The hot breakfast options of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and hash browns were excellent and gave us a good start for a day ahead.

They are pet friendly.Their complimentary breakfast was excellent.This will be our # 1 place to stay in HINTON.

WiFi was good and the breakfast was excellent consisting of eggs, sausage and even perogies and bacon as well as the usual good fruit, cereal, waffle and drink selection.

One of the better breakfast selections we've seen for this price range.

The hotel is very clean not only in the rooms also in the lobby, elevator and by the breakfast station.

Stayed here with a family our family of 4 and felt it was good with the room being clean, breakfast was good, pool area was good (bit shallow where the slide enters the pool

but there was smoke all over and I noticed weeds smell in the night from next rooms.

While sitting in the hot tub with my two young children the maintenance man came and dumped in some powdery chemical.

though that they look into their staff because when we walked by the cleaning lady on our floor she reeked of Alcohol, so that's kind of unprofessional.

The floor was stained and the room smelled funny.

but there was still damage to the walls and the nightstand between the beds had an old cigarette butt sitting there.

The room stank of cigarettes, there was hair on the bed and in the bathroom, not to mention stains everywhere in the hotel.

That popcorn you smell when entering reception is free to guests as are the cookies on the counter.

The accommodation is situated East (down-wind) of the Hinton Wood Pulp Mill which is evident from the smell outside and inside the building.

One thing I really noticed are the stuffy smells when first walking in the door.

although it had a strange smell seemed clean.

Unfortunately we had a smoking room as it was the only one left.

The pool room has kind of a gross smell that was not chlorine.

Non smoking room smelled of old smoke and there was lots of hair in the room.

The only negative was the smell of eggs and bacon early in the morning coming into the room - there seems to be poor ventilation.

Men bathroom according to my son was smelly.

but was super heavy, as they had no fresh fruit (apparently their shipment was coming in later that day), and the walls seem pretty thin, as our neighbours were not being loud, but we could hear them talking, and could hear their tv.

On the other side of the wall, in the hall, facing our bed big noisy ice machine working almost all the time.

The rooms (as suggested in previous reviews and comments) were very very noisy (thankfully I had ear plugs with me) road noise, industrial noise from local industries, and paper thin walls.

I should address the noise too , the walls are paper thin and you can hear noises of tv’s , kids crying and people walking from below , above and both sides .

but decided to leave after one night. The walls are very thin and in one of the adjacent rooms (or above us?)

The only thing i would complain about is that the walls are thin and  you do hear everything from the next room, the microwave running, toilet flushing and people talking.

It was all cramped along one wall so it was congested with a bunch of people trying to get their food at the same time.

The walls in this hotel are paper thin and we could here everything from rooms either side of us (TV and general conversations, toilets flushing and coughing and sneezing).

Although the walls were not absolutely sound proof, it did not bother us.

You really can hear everything through the walls.

The only drawback of the hotel is that the walls are thin and you can hear what goes on in the room beside you.

i had a very hard time falling asleep as my neck kept pinching with pain (just something to keep in mind)

staff were all friendly, and i made a request to stay at the back side top floor of the hotel which they were able to honor for me so i had a great view. breakfast was included, it was good

Breakfast was typical eggs, meat, potatoes, waffles, yogurt, cereal.. Quality was just average.

After a long day of driving through the beautiful mountains of Alberta a great resting place with a good breakfast.

The breakfast was just amazing and we have enjoyed every minute of it.

This is the second time I have stayed at this Hotel and will turn into my regular spot when hitting the mountains going forward

My truck was robbed directly outside the front doors, right under the cameras in just a span of a few hours.

We Stayed for 2 days , we were put in room no 412 ( queen Suite )

We may stay again as overall it was not bad experience other than breakfast and some room door lock issue.

The doors slam very hard and both nights, I was jolted awake multiple times.

We got to our room and couldn't open the door at first assuming our key was still attached to the 302 room.. that was fine just a quick switch she fixed our card and we were able to get in.

Also when asking for a late check-out because it takes alot of time getting my daughter out the door, the lady at the front desk was quite rude!

Come the morning to check out  ( 11AM) housekeeping knocks on my door at 9, seriously?

Our door didn't lock, as we found out later that night, so everybody could have walked in and out for a whole day.

This Ramada is old and dingy; beds were pretty bad and the bathroom was so tiny you couldn't get to the toilet without closing the door.

15 minutes later, I was woken up by a knock on my hotel room door.

They must have misread the room numbers or something on their itinerary, because we were disturbed 3 times over the course of our first night and the following morning with people knocking on our door and even jiggling the handle.

Doors shut at 10 am on the dot as stated, if you came in at 9-55 you were unable to access the kitchen area where toast, waffles, cooked breakfast etc was situated surely if you were in the breakfast room before 10am you should be entitled to access the food,staff were miserable and unfriendly I would not recommend this hotel to my worse enemy.

And after getting in the room eventually,  we were wakened up by someone knocking on the door heavily and even did not wait for me to open the door for him.

The doors are very flimsy so when people waited for the elevator it was like they were in the room.

Bathroom was tiny and the floor was warped so the bathroom door would not open all the way as it caught on the floor.

- The toilet and its proximity to the door is awkward - see photo.

Not to mention the paper thin room doors that allowed every noise in the hallway to enter my room quite unopposed.

It sounded like people were in our room, the walls and doors were so thin.

Every time I smelled it, it seemed that's when the quests next door used bathroom.

Rooms and beds need refurbishing, noise level from other rooms made sleeping difficult.

The wall are paper thin, every time someone got up to use the washroom above and below us you could hear.

The room was very noisy both above us and up and down the hallway.

Breakfast is ho hum and no fruit choices.

Non courteous staff , limited staff and surprise to hear from then that they get bread in a packing without mentioning contain which shud be a crime in a country like Canada, if they follow health rule

The noise does travel very easily between  between floors and rooms.

We could hear conversations in other rooms.

The walls are thin so you can hear every step in the hotel and conversations from other rooms.

Our room was near the elevator and we found the constant dinging of the elevator noisy at night.

I only gave it 4 as the sofa bed I slept on was noisy every time I turned over.

but without it, the noise could have become a problem.

Internet was slow, noisy barking pets at night and early in morning, vehicles parked out window had headlights light up our room like daylight

I finally said I would call daily until I hear back

Had a few issues with some pet noise and room amenities.

You could hear other guests in the hallway very easily

Our first night was an absolute nightmare, we could hear the two people upstairs talking and their child’s every footfall.

The main issue we had was noise we could hear everything from the room across from us and the room above us!!

Bathroom door wouldn't close due to warping from water damage.

Bathroom was gross with hair in the corners.

Should have been on the first floor so dogs didn't have to go up and down stairs to use the bathroom.

He ended up manually lifting the plunger inside the tank to get it to flush.

For the price I paid I would expect that they could hire a proper repair man, and perhaps clean the bathrooms better.

The drywall repairs in our bathroom looked a bit amateur

We checked out the bathroom which had dark black hair on the floor and in the tub and the tub was also old and stained.

Carpets are filthy, mild is bathrooms  ripped beds.

The plumbing in the bathroom is also quite questionable.

When I spoke with staff they did not seem to care, no solution was offered and nothing was done to remedy the problems other than after 40 min someone did come to plunger the toilet.

We were disappointed that the hot tub was closed, an amenity I searched specifically for.

There are plenty of hotels in Hinton that offer the same amenities for very similar prices.

No hot water for showers, Sink did not drain.

I saw a huge ant in our bathroom and the carpet was not clean.

Perfect place to go for a swim, lay your head and wake up to breakfast after a long day.

A free breakfast was available in the lobby.

the staff helpful and courteous and the breakfast was very good.

They also  had a hot breakfast which was great unlike other hotels who  have the grab n go breakfast, will definitely stay here again

It is close to a Chinese food restaurant where the food is delicious and have generous servings.

but the hard boiled eggs, white bread, cream cheese, apple and coffee meets my requirements.

This is bazaar when their breakfast is all on disposable dishes and cutlery.

This place can be pretty gross at times, it would be nice if they did a better job cleaning.

Called and asked for towels at 8 am was told to come collect them from the front desk or wait till the housekeeper arrives to work !!?

We were offered a tiny discount on our room if we didn't have housekeeping to help with their green credentials.

I immediately saw a thick layer of dust along the edge of the carpet along the walls which told me it hadn’t been cleaned properly for a while.

not sure if they clean all the blankets..  the breakfast area was over crowded.

.no garbage was emptied, the sink and shower were not cleaned daily.

gross carpet not cleaned, toilets didnt flush, dirt and debris in the airconditioner, bathroom door did not close.

They were going to cancel my next nights stay as well as charge for a smoking cleaning fee.

The lock of the room seemed broken and when we finally got in, it was not cleaned.

(It’s been my experience that when traveling with a pet in most cases I get the less desirable rooms ie high traffic areas, smells or maintenance issues) (small rant) my dog has better manners and cleaner than a majority of people. .

Not sure how you can miss that when cleaning a hotel room lol.

They were overbooked and had to wait 20 minutes to get 1 room cleaned.

When walked into the room, there was a strong mixture odor of smoking and cleaning spray.

but you had to clean a spot at the tables because staff was not cleaning at all during breakfast.

You could tell hotel needs upgrading or serious real cleaning!

Upon looking closer, I realized it was a small piece of squashed chocolate that should have been cleaned off.

but busy and not cleaned up after a lot of people spilled stuff.

For what we were CHARGED for the room we shd have got a full hot breakfast of eggs, meat, toast, fruit, juice, waffles, etc.

I paid $162 for a 2 queen bed room plus a $21 pet fee for my cat!!

Cleanliness in the room and in the facilities.

Was also very loud due to a large group of people staying in multiple rooms.
