however ,The food in the restraunt is poor, i can honestly say ive been to lot of AL and travelled a fair bit, this is by far the worst food ive had, we had raw chicken which we informed the staff, they were horrified and apilodlgetic,we let the Tui rep know incase anyone became ill. My partner and i got diffrent chicken so it wasnt isolated.

Highly recommended to all, adult entertainment is a little poor

It was quite poor overall and again very little interaction with people round the pool area.

Sort of economic peapole coming to this place make stay really poor.

The all inclusive is poor, especially with the drinks unless you want to pay “more” money to get a better drink which goes against an all inclusive package.

Entertainment is poor, costumes, dancing , kids disco all lack effort and input from TUI.

although saying that I thought the entertainment was poor so we didn't miss out.

Other than swapping rooms  the staff offer no solution which leaves the next poor family to be constantly disturbed.

has very poor people skills and really needs to think about the manner in which she speaks to people.

I want to start this review by saying I have never left a poor review of anywhere as it takes a lot for me to hate somewhere that much .

Ignore any poor reviews especially regarding the power station this has no effect on the hotel at all.. it tells you about it when you book it therefore shouldn’t be surprise when you arrive.

Check in was poor and didn’t have a cot available on arrival, no drinks available.

The drinks at this hotel are poor.

Our air-conditioning was very poor, I'm not sure if this was just our room or was the same throughout all rooms

The hotel rooms were so clean, cleaned daily.

The room was immaculate, bedding changed every 2 days if you wanted and towels changed as you wanted them, the view of the pool and sea was gorgeous.

The rooms are spotless lots of hanging space and drawers,lots of plugs sockets, the towels were changed everyday and linen twice in our 7 day stay.

The rooms are clean and towels etc changed daily.

Hotel and our rooms were clean all the staff were great.

Apart from that, hotel and room was clean, food was delicious and people were nice.

The hotel room was clean, roomy and the beds were so comfortable!

The power plant, I don't get peoples complaints with it, you have to go out of your way to look at it, even in the sea it doesn't really catch your eye and even if it does its not even that bad, didn't smell it either.

We could not smell the power station so really did not cause any issues.

Ignore the comments re: power station, it’s not that close and didn’t smell or bother us.

but we were not aware of how big it was and how much you could smell the smoke most evenings.

but I honestly can’t see why it’s a problem, we never looked at it a thought anything about it we never smelt anything from it and it’s really not that much of an eye sore.

right next to the active power station that was  smoking all day leaving horrible smell in the air.

Btw there is a small power station next door - the pictures look far worse than it is - you can barely see it unless you’re in the top bar and can smell it or anything.

Really disappointed when we arrived as I live on a main road I was not happy as my room faced the main road and the power station , con-try to other reviews I could smell the power station and sitting around the pool you could see black smoke coming out followed by yellow smoke .I asked to change my room

but did not impact on our holiday as not smelly or noisy as others have suggested.

Negatives
- The power station is ugly, occasionally smelly and almost guaranteed to be expelling something into the sea at the hotel's beach.

I think I noticed it twice in the 10 days we was there and smelt it once when the wind blew a certain way, the smell didn’t stay….

The carpets in the corridors are filthy and the rooms need some TLC.

The only other negative was that smoking was permitted throughout the outdoor spaces around the pool and the cafe which was frustrating with children.

Although when on the balcony you can hear the traffic and planes once you close the doors the room is completely sound proof.

The room looked untidy with some hairspray stains on the bathroom door and sticky surfaces.

We were there several days and could never determine why we constantly heard slamming doors.

but extremely noisy… we could hear, the cars, the planes and people next door.

The railings, the elevator, the doors and rooms.

but once evening came or when the balcony doors were shut, we heard nothing.

We had a harbor-view room, which meant a teeny balcony with a low partition from the room next door - when our neighbor also came out on his balcony, we were inches apart and had a lively conversation!

Rooms do get noisy if rowdy guests go up and down corridors due to Poor door Insulation.

There was a lot of noise from the floor above and the banging of doors through the night echoed throughout the hotel.

The only negative was the state of the bathroom which could be cleaner as far as it concerns the walls of the douche and the bathroom and the door which were dirty.

but if you only want a drink you can’t sit with a sea view, you have to sit in a lounge area looking at the building next door.

Bathroom a bit small, difficult to open door and get in / out, especially with someone else inside.

However, what decreased the quality of our stay was the fact that some so called athletes, a Greek football team in particular, was also staying there.They were shouting and banging doors all night long.

Door to bathroom/toilet was placed in awkward position such that you will need to move to the shower end in order to close/open the door.

Additionally the elevator was right outside the door.

but the next day we had the same problem to open the door.

In order to use the toilet, we had to close the door and squeeze into the corner.

Great location within walking distance of old town and the waterfront, wonderful breakfast buffet, pleasant staff and very clean rooms.

The staff are very kind and friendly, the hotel have a lot of choice and it is tasty and the room was clean correctly everyday.

This year, unfortunately we have had a small room in the annex of the hotel, no balcony and quite hot, at a low floor.

We had a boutique room with veranda overlooking the port,marina and fortress,although the room a little small it still offered all the usual extras,mini fridge robes etc.

I just mentioned that I thought the room was a little small my wife & I then went out for a drink. On our return the phone rang in our room it was Spiros who said " you are not happy with your room Sir?"

Bedroom: Pool side bedroom (because another review complained about street side noise) was smelly (like someone smoked there before - reminded me cheap US motel) and pretty crumbed with the queens bed and nice size closet (which smelled like wet bathing suits :-) )

there is weird smell in the room which you cannot do anything about.

It smelled like cigarettes covered up by incense.

The carpets were filthy and the room was not a twin room as per our multiple requests (when booking, and when arriving to confirm).

These establishments can be identified by the lack of ashtrays on the tables.

however there are some big flaws with the hotel: 

Unfortunately the bed was very lumpy, the sheets kept coming off and the linen didn't smell fresh thus have knocked off one star for that.

The room we were staying in had a smokey smell to it.

A bottled water,  stale food in a plate, small double bed and a small balcony with a pool view of people swimming.

Oh - lots of people smoke in Crete generally I found and so the hotel was no exception.

Spa facilities were really nothing much more than a basic gym and a somewhat smelly steamroom.

although unfortunately there were some nasty stains on the carpet in room 635.

Also the front desk did not deal very well with an incident involving a faulty smoke alarm and did not provide explanation or apology for being woken in the middle of the night to check alarm.

The pool area was lovely, the pool is a fresh water pool so there's no nasty chlorine smell.

One bad note - the carpeting in the lobby hallway (en route to the rooms) is filthy!

We selected this hotel first as it was the only 5 stars hotel in Heraklion offering smoking rooms; our choice was right in all aspects.

Galaxy Hotel Iraklio

Upstairs had it's own shower, toilet and TV.

Towels and bathroom necessities are changed every day and  daily cleaning of the room olso.

We had a problem with the shower as the water did not drain away properly.

Showers only, no baths, shower head was enormous!

but us having to come one at the time…
I appreciate the reviews from previous customers saying that had an amazing experience with deep tissue massage (and that is why I considered it) but none of them highlighted the cost.

Bad:
Sweet 5008 shower overflows into the bathroom and also in the livingroom
There is no Window to open in the bathroom
(Like in sweet 5007/5006 enz.)

but the bathroom is open to the rest of the room, apart from the toilet.

The weather was not great for some of the week as unfortunately there was a horrible storm which caused major flooding throughout Crete,

The only cons I have just for those to be aware as I appreciate honesty, is that the bathrooms were pretty average, toilet seat was coming away and wasn’t cleaned in my eyes.

Also there were some issues with the shower that when used normally, the bathroom was getting flooded.

but the pressure of the water jets were too strong that it actually hurt to be on it (maybe these could be turned down?)

The cleanliness was very obvious they only gripe I have is that the pool side toilets should be checked more regularly, there was often no paper.

Excuse me: one bathroom, one door number equals one room surely?

Having said that, shower was powerful and there was always hot water.

The bathroom was rather grimy & the block itself was awful.

Although the social facilities, are good, staff and food are nice, the bathrooms need an urgent update, never was a bottle of water in the room, even if you ask for it, and the "animation" after dinner was so bad, people left the tables.

but shower is old and require renovation immediately.

Entertainment is quite poor, a bit boring , except the one with disco party night.

Only negative was the quality of the all inclusive wines and spirits, very poor.

The evening entertainment for the adults was a bit poor though.

The TV selection was poor for the English.

The only minor issue we had was with the Asian restaurant - we found the food there to be quite poor.

Presentation was poor and so was the dish it self- I’m not sure if a chef would even consider that a dish!!!

If you wish to see the old city or port you must take a bus and for more than this you should rent a car because the public transportation is very poor on the island.

People also need to educate their children on animal care, one poor cat had just given birth and people were letting their children pull the bush about so they could see them and trying to pick them up!

Although the view was better the condition of a room that is meant to be in a 4-star hotel was poor.

but really not clean ( floor , table etc )which is not acceptable for the level of the hotel 
I will not return there on next trip just for the poor cleaning of the restaurant

And by the way, we did feed the poor, starving cats, and why not?

Food throughout is generally poor quality, soft drinks machines in all facilities issue high sugar content post mix and fruit flavour juice is of the very powdery tasting non juice type.

First of all I must say I do not understand any of the poor reviews given by others regarding this hotel.

but either alcoholic and non-alcoholic were poor quality, served by a bored staff, so we didn´t order or buy any other.

The all inclusive drinks were poor quality and no orange juice, just different types of squash and the red wine was pink and thin.

The entertainment was extremely poor, I was quite shocked.

Again cant understand the positive feed back on drinks very limited and cocktails are not what they should be pre mixed and poor quality.

The room was immaculate and the layout perfect for our family.

Overall a very enjoyable stay, friendly staff, good food choices, lovely clean room and plenty to do for the grandkids.

The rooms were also kept immaculate and housekeeping staff did an amazing job despite my sons best efforts to bring half of the beach back to our room after each swim in the sea.

Everything was perfect, the room was clean, staff is polite, the meal was very good.

Amazing hotel! Exceeds all the expectation, the stuff is super polite, rooms are very clean hundreds of different dishes during the meals, few open bars, 2 perfect water parks, we completely fell in love and will definitely revisit next year
