The only downside was that the wifi did not work one night, which if you are traveling internationally can be a big deal!

however the owner carried our bags to the third floor without us asking so it was not a big deal.

The breakfast was delicious with a lot of choice, and the breakfast room was so cozy and nice.

The style was Bavarian and also warm welcome.

but the hotel is part of the ambience and I am sure will be a lasting memory for us as we reflect on our visit.

Although pictures are of simple style, the hotel is quant, friendly, quiet, and situated within walking distance from shopping and restaurants.

This is a lovely traditional style hotel guest house.

The room was spacious, lovely and cozy with its own private patio, the on-site parking was free, and we could easily walk to touristy shops, local sights and a couple of grocery stores.

There were many breakfast options including savory and sweet items, a fabulous coffee machine, & a large bright breakfast room to enjoy it all in.

This hotel has a lovely, welcoming feel to it and is decorated in the local traditional way.

The room was warm and cozy, perfect for December.

We stayed in an attic room (#18) on the third floor which was so cozy and I adored the decor -- a woodsy and natural with a hint of Bavarian comfort.

We stayed in Room 40 - Family Apartment, and had a most wonderful week at Hotel Bavaria, so full of character and charm.

The country style hotel sits on a hill, and many rooms have a balcony.

In total, we had 4 windows and the double wide door out onto the balcony.

I opened the door to see what had happened.

While the room was somewhat noisy from the car traffic, just close the doors to shut it out.

The other window (door to the balcony looks down to the busy main road and little else.

Doors were a little thin so you could hear everyone locking/unlocking their doors from the hallway.

The Schloss (royal residence) next door to the church was not open when we were there (around 2 p.m. on a Saturday).

From the moment we walked through the door nothing was to difficult for our host Wolfgang.

We were given a room next door, that was much less bright

although we had a balcony overlooking it, we weren’t affected by the noise as it was winter and we had the doors and windows closed.

When we arrived with our luggage (raining heavily) we had to walk around looking for the hotel entrance not knowing it was the same door.

The staff failed to tell me that they lock the doors at night and there are NO staff on duty.

The only problems were the low ceilings (my poor partner, who is quite tall, bumped his head too many times to count) and the third floor rooms are furthest from the internet router, which made for inconsistent coverage, and you had to constantly connect to the log-in page and agree to the terms, which was not the easiest when you want to just get online quickly. However.

Most of the poor reviews on this hotel over the years seem to hit similar issues.

In the week we were there - 23rd to 30th September - we has poor service at only one establishment - Das Goldenes Bar - I had to ask for my main course - my husband's was cold by the time I received it - no apology was given - our glasses were empty by this time too -

The hotel is conveniently located near the train, bus and restaurants.

There is a delicious breakfast with an amazing variety of food.

They gave us good recommendations for dinner, only 15-20 minutes walk away.

Wolfgang was also kind enough to give us an excellent day trip suggestion with swimming in the Hintersee after breakfast and hiking on a nearby mountain after lunch.

There’s a self service “honesty bar” and the towns best restaurants and bars are all within a few minutes walk.

From the time we checked in to the time we left we were given all the help we needed and had access to a beautiful breakfast each day as well as continuous tea, coffee, beer, cakes all day (and night!).

There were sandwitches, desserts & other items available free of charge from 11:30 AM to 6 PM every day.

Take the train to Salzburg for a day trip and definitely have a pit stop at Café Mozart.

As hosts, Petra and Wolfgang, together with Julia in the office, just couldn’t do enough - restaurant recommendations and bookings, advice on sights and the best way to get there - sometimes by car, other times by bus - showing us live webcams so we could check the weather above the clouds when they were around, and generally anything we needed.

We also found Wolfgang and Petra to be SO helpful - they offered directions, recommendations, and even recommended a great restaurant in Nuremberg, where we stayed next.

the managers and hotel staff were great, big breakfast served with champagne every morning, it was the best time we had for 6 days, coffee and snacks were available all night plus beer and wine, many thanks to the owners and their son

Great location close to amenities, shops, cafes and transport (buses and trains).

Very friendly & wecloming check-in, plenty of free parking, free tea/coffee & snacks available in the kitchen area downstairs just off the lobby (we had a kettle and fresh water available in our room as well), and a "honesty bar" for beer & soft drinks available all day/night.

Breakfast is very good with plenty of food.

Room was clean and quiet, Bathroom is small, Balconey makes this hotel with a great view of the Watzmann.

Our room was clean, a decent size and had a good sized balcony for us to sit on.

The room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable- it felt like we were inside a delightful log cabin!

The whole place is spotless and the room was amazing, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom with a spa bath a real treat, breakfast was lovely with a massive choice, there is also free tea and coffee 24 hours a day and free sandwiches and rolls all day.

If you’re traveling by public transportation, it’s convenient to the train station (a 5-6 min walk) and all the buses you would take to the Eagle’s Nest, the Konigsee, Jennerbahn, etc.

We were especially grateful for the advice to do the Eagles Nest trip (very worthwhile) on the day we arrived as the weather was looking good.

The best part of our stay was the helpful staff who gave us great directions for our trip to The Eagles Nest, and also proved us with discounted tickets for a Konigsee cruise which was a wonderful addition to our sightseeing.

We would recommend this hotel for its location also, so close to all the sights and activities in Berchtesgaden, the salt mine, lake cruises and Eagles Nest all very close by.

Buses go very frequently up to the Eagles' Nest.

I booked this hotel for 1 night to enable me to visit the Eagles Nest.

This is a family-run hotel that's a great base for exploring Lake Konigssee, Eagle's Nest and Ramsau if you're on a road trip.

The hotel is in an ideal location, approx 12 mins from the car park for eagle's nest and about 10 mins to lake kongisse.

The highlights of the area are Konigssee Lake, Eagles Nest, Documentation Center Museum and St Sebastian Parish.

This was our first stay here and we enjoyed it.Very good bedroom with a view of the Alps and an excellent breakfast.The hotel was clean and tidy with traditional furnishings..An easy walk up the hill to the centre of Berchtesgarden which is lovely .We ate at the Greek Acropolis restaurant which was first class.The food was lovely and the view of the Eagles Nest stunning.The staff spoke good English and were very helpful.The italian cafe in the square is also a gem.A very lively owner !

Short walk to tourist info centre (where we took our Eagles nest tour) & supermarkets.

They truly enjoy running their hotel, and the enthusiasm shows.

We were able to walk everywhere: to the town center, to eat, and to the Eagles Nest Tour bus stop.

The whole of the hotel is exceptionally clean and the star of the show is Andre!

Even if you are not a 2WW buff, you must get to the Eagles Nest - on a clear day the views are sublime.

A quick drive to Konigsee and Jennerbahn (the hotel has free parking), and a quick walk along a single road to town center, which is everything you'd want a Bavarian mountain town to be - quaint, lots of restaurants with outdoor seating, pedestrian-only streets and open spaces, incredible mountain views, biergartens bursting with traditional song and dance, and great people-watching.

although my room was relatively small (single room), it was as expected as mostly in europe the hotelrooms are small.

There is no fault that one can find with this hotel, even if one was pushing himself to find it.

This is a real gem of a hotel in a quiet mountain location: large and comfortable bedrooms, excellent food, lovely grounds and swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), and a top-flight spa.

The pool and sauna areas are fantastic - after long days of hiking we enjoyed spending time in the jacuzzi and in the saunas.

There are several sauna's and pools available.

The hot whirlpool and sauna in the Wellness Centre were great!

I particularly liked the outside swimming pool.

The pool and spa area was the perfect temperature and we used it often every day.

Food is excellent - we upgraded from breakfast only (wonderful) to dinner too (even better) and our allergies were easily accommodated.

We had a view of the mountains and over the pool area.

But we did spend a few hours one afternoon in the nicely warmed pool, where we found the jets to ease our aching back.

The spa complex is not to be missed, encompassing treatment rooms, relaxation rooms , heated indoor and outdoor pools.

The outside pool was warm and it was lovely to swim with those magnificent mountain views.

Our room overlooked the pool area and out across the woods to the mountains beyond.

We really liked outdoor swimming pools with warm water, and various saunas inside.

My wife loved the outdoor pool which was delightfully warm, even in mid-September.

The hotel has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, plus outdoor jacuzzi.

The spa is extensive, with two pools, saunas, steam rooms and every imaginable relaxation room - all with local unique flavor.

And then there are the wonderful pools and jacuzzi, and a fantastic fitness and wellness complex that's like a rabbit warren of treatment options, relaxation rooms, solar rooms, sauna, salt, everything.

When we were moved, we were on the first level and the pool was close by.

The wellness is the best area of hotel, with amazing sauna and swimming pools.

Food was incredible as well - delicious breakfast buffet, great brotzeit, and wonderful five course dinner with several different entrees to choose from.

Lots of activities, food was great (vegetarian and lots of healthy options too).

The breakfast buffet was delicious and the half board menus were exceptional value.

The pumpkin ginger soup was perfect on a cold winter afternoon and the pastries were inviting.

We appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel overall, the kindness of the team, the meals in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner).

We didn't expect a full salad bar and then four course meal prepared by a kitchen that knew what it was doing.

We took half board and the food was plentiful and delicious, we were never hungry or disappointed with our meals.

We paid the little extra to have the 5 course meal included and it does not disappoint.

We had the 1/2 board and most of the food was very good.

The food is of a high standard from the breakfast buffet to the afternoon tea to the evening meal.

Service at its absolute best, food at its best and a beautiful place.

The food at breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner was excellent and the menu changed daily.

Despite our German being basically non existent the staff were very good and the menus were available in English.

The serenity of the spa area, the relaxing lounge with the fabulous fire, the delicious menu and Stefan’s fantastic fireworks display on New Year’s Eve are all travel experiences ‘not to be missed’.

All around are beautifull views of the surrounding mountains.

On top of it the location is really nice: nice view on mountain and forrest, quiet place.

What we got for our money was an outstanding spa facility, incredible view of the Watzmann mountain from our spacious room, friendly service and very good food.

The room also has a large living room attached to it, with a door leading out to a balcony  and enjoy a mountain scenery setting, such as a meadow, a forest and  a terrific view of the mountain “ Watzmann “, further to right there is another mountain to be seen.

but who cares with such lovely facilities and wonderful views.

The pool is set near the mountain view end of the hotel and the view is breathtaking from the nearby lounge chairs.

I really hoped to share that with the children and for them to like as much and I was not disappointed - the warmth and ambience of the hotel, the stunning scenery and the amazing snow did the job for me.

We had a lovely, spacious room with a balcony with terrific views of the mountains and the meals were all excellent.

Shorter drive or medium walk to Konigsee and Jenner Mountain

The view of the mountains at sunset from our balcony room was unforgettable.

The hotel itself is attractive, the views are good, the food is excellent and the staff are all friendly, helpful and efficient.

It is a traditionally decorated hotel and we had a river facing room which was an adequate.

Breakfast and dinner were very nice and the restaurant is very airy with inside and outside seating.

Breakfast was buffet style, with a wide selection of breads, cold meat, cheese, fruit, cereals and for hot food bacon, scrambled egg and sausages.

Nothing shabby about this well maintained hotel.

The breakfast is also decent one and the restaurant has a nice view and has a good atmosphere.

It was recently renovated so it had old world charm AND was very clean - something a little hard to come by!

The included breakfast presented an exceptional selection of cereals, meats, cheeses, vegetables, breads, and a fresh scrambled egg buffet style.

The rooms were cosy and each of the two rooms we booked had balconies with lovely views over the river and wonderful picturesque surroundings.

Finally, the offering at the breakfast buffet was very good and we enjoy the relaxing environment.

We had a very clean, very roomy family room (1 double and 2 singles) in what appeared to be a newish annexe.

The dining room was nice and bright and breakfast was varied and very good.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a good deal and doesn't mind a clean roomy simply decorated room.

It was a great room - master bedroom and two twin beds, a roomy balcony, and (most importantly) windows that we could open up all the way to have a nice, airy evening.

There are a few restaurants and shops nearer the hotel,

Breakfast was good and meals were also available in the evening.

Near couple of supermarkets and restaurants.

We ate in the restaurant one night and the portion size was good and the meal was tasty.

Rest of the food totally inadequate quantity.

On the plus side the restaurant was quite good and the servers were friendly.

If you want to eat in the hotel in the evening you can opt for either the half board menu (which is cheaper

We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and we thought the food was good.

but the food in the restaurant definitely needs spiffing up.

The staff at the reception and in the restaurant are friendly and welcoming all the time.

The staff in the restaurant are very friendly- particularly the female staff.

Also when we were too tired to go back out for evening meals the hotel restaurant food was top quality.

but sufficient and clean, balcony  with the view of railway station, tasty food (both breakfast and dinner) - we had half board.

We did use the restaurant once and found that two of our four meals were fine

Breakfast was very good and the menu of the day was good value.

Our rooms were clean, well equipped and having a good view on the town.

but in room some time is not work, the room was clean, the staff are nice, the Breakfast was good, parking is included the price ! !

From now on the stay was ok.
