The breakfast is well appointed and everyone will find something.

As there is no lift in the hotel, it is best to bring small luggage bags.

We had the large family suite on the top floor and, while it was some work carrying suitcases up so many flights of stairs without an elevator, the view was well worth it.

Our room was up 40 steep stairs and there was no lift.

although without a lift be prepared for a few stairs.

The only negative is that there is no elevator so be prepared to climb the stairs or request a lower floor.

No elevator, that may not be an issue, just to be taken in account if traveling with seniors.

The hotel has no elevator, so we had to carry your luggage up the stair.

We recently stayed at Bavaria superior Hotel and were disappointed that no elevator was installed when they upgraded it.

There is no elevator so you will need to carry your luggage up stairs.

Just a minor downside: there is no lift, only staircase. So travel light :)

They were really helpful, spoke excellent English, and arranged for me to get the train via a taxi and Salzburg, thus avoiding the hell which is the station Freilassing - no lift - pretty ghastly if you have heavy luggage.

Wolfgang and Petra are outdoor enthusiasts and they have great tips on where to go for a good hike and how to get there either by car or public transportation.

Petra and Wolfgang are so welcoming and helpful.

The lovely Petra (owner of the Hotel) was so kind to hand us towels, robes and slippers explaining that one would need to pay extra there.

As hosts, Petra and Wolfgang, together with Julia in the office, just couldn’t do enough - restaurant recommendations and bookings, advice on sights and the best way to get there - sometimes by car, other times by bus - showing us live webcams so we could check the weather above the clouds when they were around, and generally anything we needed.

Wolfgang, Petra, and their kids are the friendliest, most attentive, and most helpful hosts.

We also found Wolfgang and Petra to be SO helpful - they offered directions, recommendations, and even recommended a great restaurant in Nuremberg, where we stayed next.

Wolfgang and Petra proved most friendly and very helpful with providing free bus passes and sharing bus departure times for the Eagle's Nest and the Königssee.

About 5PM we received a knock on our door and greeted Petra's colleague and replacement for the evening.

Our 3 night stay here was our favorite in Bavaria.. Wolfgang and Petra made us feel so very welcome.

Wolfgang and Petra, the owners were very helpful, spoke English well and were very friendly.

While our bed was comfortable, our daughter's sofa bed was a bit firm and the bathroom was very small.

The bathroom was small and without a separate shower stall,

Biggest disappointment was the small bathroom (shower only).

In the end about 1/3 of the small bathroom was wet after two showers.

although the small shower room was in need of an update.

So, the first night was spent in a small, hot noisy room with very small bathroom and no fridge in the room, and none of the room accessories/services we had paid in advance for - naturally we agreed a very reduced rate for the first night's stay.

The only disappointment of our whole stay was the tiny bathroom which was also very dark,

however a bit disappointed by the room as it was in the back building of the hotel, had no balcony, very dark, with a very small bathroom.

Snacks are offered throughout the day until evening.”  Coffee and tea service is open 24 hours a day.

Hotel Bavaria is a locally owned hotel that takes pride in serving it’s guests with excellent accommodation and incredibly friendly staff, From breakfast to tea, coffee and snacks throughout the day, this Hotel affords visitors with the best Bavaria has to offer.

Lots of nice extras at the hotel (24 hr coffee/tea/water/beer/wine), afternoon snacks, very nice breakfast.

They even leave snacks and bier for late-night consumption!

The feature of coffee almost all day with snacks, including small sandwiches is a very nice feature and both of these items being the reason for the 4 rating.

but snacks are available - FREE- all day and tea and coffee 24 hours a day.

Breakfast was remarkable - much enjoyed the 24 hour coffee and tea service, the snacks, and the bus passes.

Rooms were of a good size, comfortable and clean, and breakfast was very good, with free snacks, tea and coffee available during the day.

There is a great breakfast spread with lots of options (in case you happen to tire of salami and cheese every day), and always snacks and tea out throughout the day.

the managers and hotel staff were great, big breakfast served with champagne every morning, it was the best time we had for 6 days, coffee and snacks were available all night plus beer and wine, many thanks to the owners and their son

Very friendly & wecloming check-in, plenty of free parking, free tea/coffee & snacks available in the kitchen area downstairs just off the lobby (we had a kettle and fresh water available in our room as well), and a "honesty bar" for beer & soft drinks available all day/night.

Big German breakfasts were terrific, and having the dining room/lounge open all day for coffee and snacks was brilliant.

but with a bit of a slog up the hill (we drove)
-  Million dollar view from breakfast room (food was good and typical for Germany)
-  Gracious host (lugging suitcases up the stairs) with maps and tourist suggestions
-  Bathroom was modern and up to date.

Not only that he grabbed two of our bags and carried them to the train (up and down the stairs at the station) and put them on board with only seconds to spare.

Be prepared to do some walking up the stairs.

Now, don't get me wrong four flights of stairs are not my ideal,

On the down side there are no lift, should you on a member of your party have difficulty in climbing stairs.

A downside to the hotel is that there are no stairs,

He appeared to be impatient when we struggled to carry our luggage up the stairs and only helped by carrying the smallest bag.

It was filling and the dining area was relaxing with beautiful views.

Room was clean and quiet, Bathroom is small, Balconey makes this hotel with a great view of the Watzmann.

Many rooms have balconies that overlook the Watzmann mountain, the second highest mountain in Germany.

The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and provide breathtaking views.

We had 2 balconies, one overlooking the river, train station and mountain.

We wrote directly to book the hotel at a better rate and the room is fantastic with a balcony facing directly at the picturesque mountain view.

Very kind hosts and amazing view of the mountain.

Wolfgang was also kind enough to give us an excellent day trip suggestion with swimming in the Hintersee after breakfast and hiking on a nearby mountain after lunch.

On the way back down to the hotel, you have a pleasing view of Mt Watzmann.

We had a beautiful room with lovely views.

The view from the dining area to the mountains was impressive.

We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Bavaria, our room is spacious, clean and has a stream view.

but nothing prepared me for the view, I could stand on the balcony all day and never tire of it.

We were in room 33 which has a perfect view of the Watzmann The rooms are big, bathrooms very clean, and the breakfast is perfect.

The views are simply magnificent and unmatchable.

Our balcony had a small table & 2 chairs with a view of the river and mountains.

Guests were encouraged to enjoy the view of Watzmann from the breakfast room at any time.

but can recommend outstanding walks, hikes and mountain trails as well as the normal visitor attractions.

The only thing i would say, if it very hot there is no A/C in the rooms or dining room, which makes it a little difficult to sleep and to eat inside.

They fan was a big deal for us as we came at the tail end of a heat wave and the last hotel prior was a bit too warm at night.

We happened to be visiting when it was extremely hot, so having air conditioning would have been nice.

Overall: super place for a short (or longer) break in the mountains..only reason for 4 rating is the high temperature in the room (no AC)

The rooms should be equipped with air conditioning since it was too warm during our stay in early september; i can't imagine what it was like in july or august!

He has it in his shop and he also let the children try their skills at blowing the horns.

Dining staff was exceptional - food was fantastic, drinks were delicious and the service was excellent.

The food is just fabulous with huge choices at both breakfast and dinner with something to suit everybody.

Breakfasts were also great with a huge choice of continental and cooked items.

Food was incredible as well - delicious breakfast buffet, great brotzeit, and wonderful five course dinner with several different entrees to choose from.

Lots of activities, food was great (vegetarian and lots of healthy options too).

We enjoyed relaxing at the pool in the afternoons also.

The pool areas are wonderful and there are so many different areas to sit, relax and take in the views.

This is a real gem of a hotel in a quiet mountain location: large and comfortable bedrooms, excellent food, lovely grounds and swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), and a top-flight spa.

There are several sauna's and pools available.

The hot whirlpool and sauna in the Wellness Centre were great!

I particularly liked the outside swimming pool.

The pool and spa area was the perfect temperature and we used it often every day.

We had a view of the mountains and over the pool area.

But we did spend a few hours one afternoon in the nicely warmed pool, where we found the jets to ease our aching back.

The spa complex is not to be missed, encompassing treatment rooms, relaxation rooms , heated indoor and outdoor pools.

The outside pool was warm and it was lovely to swim with those magnificent mountain views.

Our room overlooked the pool area and out across the woods to the mountains beyond.

We really liked outdoor swimming pools with warm water, and various saunas inside.

My wife loved the outdoor pool which was delightfully warm, even in mid-September.

The hotel has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, plus outdoor jacuzzi.

The spa is extensive, with two pools, saunas, steam rooms and every imaginable relaxation room - all with local unique flavor.

but the set menu for dinner (half board as they call it) was not to our liking, poor food choices.

We were on dinner bed and breakfast deal, dinner on Sunday night was average leaning towards poor.

The indoor and outdoor pools were lovely and the changing facilities were poor luxury.

The pumpkin ginger soup was perfect on a cold winter afternoon and the pastries were inviting.

We didn't expect a full salad bar and then four course meal prepared by a kitchen that knew what it was doing.

We paid the little extra to have the 5 course meal included and it does not disappoint.

We had the 1/2 board and most of the food was very good.

Also missed hair conditioner and other small bathroom amenities.

The shower in the top floor bath was way too small, so we just used the showers in the pool area which was right next door.

Whilst it is rated a 4 star hotel it has very small bathrooms and not all amenities you would offer from a 4* property.

however the bathroom was far too tiny, you have to go into the bathroom and shut the door to use the sink.

All around are beautifull views of the surrounding mountains.

On top of it the location is really nice: nice view on mountain and forrest, quiet place.

What we got for our money was an outstanding spa facility, incredible view of the Watzmann mountain from our spacious room, friendly service and very good food.

The room was clean and comfortable, our balcony overlooking Berchtesgarden was amazing.

The room also has a large living room attached to it, with a door leading out to a balcony  and enjoy a mountain scenery setting, such as a meadow, a forest and  a terrific view of the mountain “ Watzmann “, further to right there is another mountain to be seen.

but who cares with such lovely facilities and wonderful views.

The pool is set near the mountain view end of the hotel and the view is breathtaking from the nearby lounge chairs.

I really hoped to share that with the children and for them to like as much and I was not disappointed - the warmth and ambience of the hotel, the stunning scenery and the amazing snow did the job for me.

We were told different things regarding A/C.

but of course like too many European luxury properties, no thermostat in the room.

The only negative aspect is the lack of AC.

First, the air conditioning is not the normal forced air type,

The only downside is that while there is an a/c control in the room, it doesn't seem to cool down as much as I'd like.

One tiny drawback: no air-con, so Windows had to be left open all night, and the small main road through the Old Town right below our window turned out to be astonishingly busy/noisy at all hours!!

but even then there was little to no circulation.

but there actually isn't air conditioning; just a weak fan system that controls the entire floor (as the girl at the front desk explained to me).

Cons: Squeaky bed, no air conditioner, no free-wifi,

The weather was unseasonably cold yet our room was too hot so I tried to get the aircon to work

It was very hot outside (and granted unseasonably warm) and the air conditioning was very poor.

Again, we were provided by the hotel with a 'guest pass' which enabled us to travel on local buses to most if not all of the areas beautiful locations.

The hotel has a wonderful large lobby area bar, a fabulous restaurant next door and 2 other restaurants - one on the roof called the Panorama with views of the nearby mountains.

Relaxing sauna area and pool area made this weekend very relaxing and worth every penny.

Good sitting area and the whole room was spotless.

:-) We will absolutely stay here again when we return the area! !

The area around the hotel is a pearl of Germany.

The pool and sun area have the most stunning views of the area.

but even though I love pastries and cakes, nothing really spoke to me, which is a shame in an area that offers a big variety of excellent pastries.

Good work area, lots of outlets and  excellent lighting.

The area that directly surrounds Edelweiss is extremely walkable with a low-grade hills if you’re considering bringing family members or friends who may have physical limitations.
