The breakfast is well appointed and everyone will find something.

Our room was up 40 steep stairs and there was no lift.

although without a lift be prepared for a few stairs.

The only negative is that there is no elevator so be prepared to climb the stairs or request a lower floor.

No elevator, that may not be an issue, just to be taken in account if traveling with seniors.

The hotel has no elevator, so we had to carry your luggage up the stair.

We recently stayed at Bavaria superior Hotel and were disappointed that no elevator was installed when they upgraded it.

Just a minor downside: there is no lift, only staircase. So travel light :)

They were really helpful, spoke excellent English, and arranged for me to get the train via a taxi and Salzburg, thus avoiding the hell which is the station Freilassing - no lift - pretty ghastly if you have heavy luggage.

While our bed was comfortable, our daughter's sofa bed was a bit firm and the bathroom was very small.

The bathroom was small and without a separate shower stall,

Biggest disappointment was the small bathroom (shower only).

In the end about 1/3 of the small bathroom was wet after two showers.

although the small shower room was in need of an update.

So, the first night was spent in a small, hot noisy room with very small bathroom and no fridge in the room, and none of the room accessories/services we had paid in advance for - naturally we agreed a very reduced rate for the first night's stay.

The only disappointment of our whole stay was the tiny bathroom which was also very dark,

The bathroom was tiny in our room which was a bit difficult,

however a bit disappointed by the room as it was in the back building of the hotel, had no balcony, very dark, with a very small bathroom.

but with a bit of a slog up the hill (we drove)

-  Bathroom was modern and up to date.

Not only that he grabbed two of our bags and carried them to the train (up and down the stairs at the station) and put them on board with only seconds to spare.

Be prepared to do some walking up the stairs.

Now, don't get me wrong four flights of stairs are not my ideal,

On the down side there are no lift, should you on a member of your party have difficulty in climbing stairs.

A downside to the hotel is that there are no stairs,

He appeared to be impatient when we struggled to carry our luggage up the stairs and only helped by carrying the smallest bag.

The food is just fabulous with huge choices at both breakfast and dinner with something to suit everybody.

Breakfasts were also great with a huge choice of continental and cooked items.

Food was incredible as well - delicious breakfast buffet, great brotzeit, and wonderful five course dinner with several different entrees to choose from.

Lots of activities, food was great (vegetarian and lots of healthy options too).

The hotel's restaurant offers good breakfast, snacks and coffee in the afternoon, and delicious 5-courses menu for dinner.

Be sure to enjoy the cake buffet in mid afternoon.

But as I say this is a German hotel, not an international chain.

We are a family of four (two small children) and we travel quite a bit. Normally we stay at recognized chain hotels (Marriott, Intercontinental.  )

but the set menu for dinner (half board as they call it) was not to our liking, poor food choices.

We were on dinner bed and breakfast deal, dinner on Sunday night was average leaning towards poor.

The indoor and outdoor pools were lovely and the changing facilities were poor luxury.

The cons were the selection  of food at dinner (very meat focused for soup and main, with poor attention to sides such as pasta and rice which both came covered in

The only negative from my standpoint was a poor internet system.

Also missed hair conditioner and other small bathroom amenities.

The shower in the top floor bath was way too small, so we just used the showers in the pool area which was right next door.

Whilst it is rated a 4 star hotel it has very small bathrooms and not all amenities you would offer from a 4* property.

however the bathroom was far too tiny, you have to go into the bathroom and shut the door to use the sink.

We were told different things regarding A/C.

but of course like too many European luxury properties, no thermostat in the room.

The only negative aspect is the lack of AC.

First, the air conditioning is not the normal forced air type,

The only downside is that while there is an a/c control in the room, it doesn't seem to cool down as much as I'd like.

One tiny drawback: no air-con, so Windows had to be left open all night, and the small main road through the Old Town right below our window turned out to be astonishingly busy/noisy at all hours!!

but even then there was little to no circulation.

but there actually isn't air conditioning; just a weak fan system that controls the entire floor (as the girl at the front desk explained to me).

The weather was unseasonably cold yet our room was too hot so I tried to get the aircon to work

It was very hot outside (and granted unseasonably warm) and the air conditioning was very poor.

The breakfast buffet is one of the best and caters to every kind of diet and needs - a recent addition has been the juicer.

The roof pool was romantic, breakfast best I have ever experienced in hotels, nice and clean everywhere and super tasty cocktails at the bar.

This will be a rather odd reviews because it is simply about breakfasts.

I am not sure, including dinner we paid almost 600 euros for the night and for this price I did receive a better treatment elsewhere;

In a hotel of that category and in the countryside, parking should be provided for in-house guests free of charge in my opinion.

But its service and amenities did not live up to its reputation or price.

I was hesitant due to the cost of this hotel,

We asked for ice $4.00 and then they stick in all these fees on your bill that you have no idea what they are.

but at the check out we were requested to pay for an extra session of massage, although it was postponed from 16:00 to 19:00 (we were late due to a late delivery of our rental car in Munich which we informed the hotel about.

but eh pricey, €25.00 for a burger is a bit steep in my opinion!

Actually, everything in the hotel is a bit too expensive – including spa treatments and food/drink, so you have to be ready to spend.

Also, the car parking valet charge isn’t cheap, yet it can take quite some time for your car to be delivered, so be prepared to wait.

The drinks at the bar were a bit pricey though.

Expensive, certainly, especially as, like any resort hotel, you are going to end up spending a lot on food, drinks, and extras  - 

but it was “meat and animal body parts heavy”, plus  expensive, so we decided to eat at Johann, which had a much more varied menu with more seafood/ vegetable options.

but also expensive unless you are German and used to these kinds of prices.

Compared to other 5 star hotels in similarly stunning locations I felt that this hotel was slightly overpriced (as their facilities do not really compare to other hotels).

It is not as if you are in the city centre and space is a premium here.

There was freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast - lovely, lots of tea and coffee.

but just the job breakfast with great views.

A beautiful view from the restaurant windows on Watzman and Jenner mountains, turning every breakfast into an esthetic and culinary pleasure!

The view from the breakfast room was beautiful you could see the Watzmann mountain very clearly and it was interesting to watch the clouds disappearing over the tops of the mountains and to see the steam rise up from the forests.

After taking one flight of stairs in the hotel, you can take the elevator to the higher floors.

We had to go up multiple sets of stairs, down many hallways through a couple of rooms and finally up an elevator and down the final hallway.

So if you are used to elevators and bellboys, not the place for you.

There is a flight of stairs to the lift .

It is in an old building with no elevator,

When we had stayed here before there was underground parking and a lift to floors from parking - this no longer exists, where the garage entrance was is currently a garage for an apartment house.

There were a lot of stairs before reaching an elevator to our room, so if mobility is an issue for you or you have a lot of luggage, you might keep that in mind when booking a room.

but the lift only goes from the first floor and there is a maze of corridors to navigate - not great with luggage!

Then, there were two more sets of stairs to go up to even reach the lift.

As the last one is a lift, which is only from the the 1st to the 2nd floor,

The only problem, was the elevator did not go to all the floors, which makes people of age a little  had to climb the stairs with the suitcases.

The only downside war the lack of wifi in rooms (could only be accessed around the reception area, and no lift to most parts of the hotel.

Confusing layout of hotel, a bit of a labyrinth to find room and elevator.

The hotel itself is a bit dated, and getting to the rooms is literally a maze of walkways, stairs, and an elevator.

The hotel was confusing to find our way round with the lift only servicing some floors and poor signage.

There is a lift (very small; one person and maybe 2 bags).

The elevator is available from the first floor.

Within the hotel there is no wheel chair access and no lift access to the first place.

from there you take another flight of stairs, plus two or three more short flights of steps before you even reach the floor that has the elevator.

We were cautious as we checked in and observed the tiny reception area and maze-like halls and stairs that finally led us to our rooms.

There does not seem to be any means of access other than from a set of stairs on the main street.

Lots of wood, oldfashioned carpeting, heavy furniture and a maze of stairs and corridors.

Parking is a bit of a problem, and it is a bit of a walk, and there are a lot of stairs to manuver to get to your room.

but bit old fashioned and there are too many stairs.

Only downfall is lots of stairs to maneuver in wings of hotel.

Upon check-in we were not warned about the many, many twists and turns and stairs.

These stairs and passage way are not very obvious so, take note.

There are many stairs in this hotel, so if you do have walking difficulties please ask for a ground floor room.

There is no desk clerk at the hotel at night, there is no wifi in the hotel except if you are standing at the desk, and the whole hotel is really old and worn out.

You could only get wifi in the reception area

You could have better rooms and wi fi if you stayed in a hotel that cost twice the price

Wi-Fi, parking and noise over nights were attributes we have faced to daily.

No internet access in the rooms (but in common areas).

Also, we asked for the Wifi code and tried it,

Getting wifi in the rooms is now essential in 2016 and beyond.

If you want to stay in this town on a budget and don't mind being stuck in the 80s with no internet and carrying cash with you then definitely go for it.

First, the internet access here is somewhat comical.
