But the picture did not match the room, the cusions were either extremely soft or extremely hard, the outside was a bit run down, and there was no privacy between us and the room next to us.

Rooms do not comply at all with photos on the web.

I asked for the pictures to be changed as this was misleading.

It was not cool to wore wrinkled clothes when I went to the meeting.

Could be used as a business stop- over, not for meetings.

The only redeeming feature (since check out was already at 0900 and no breakfast was on offer) was a nice bathroom and a very friendly owner.

but no take away or earlier breakfast was offered.

We were offered dinner as there are not many places to eat in Gariep and most places were fully booked.

Michelle is very welcoming, great value for money, booking was easy and quick, lovely place, beautiful room, clean and neat, safe and secure, beautiful location, definitely recommend, will be back when travelling again.

the dam water flow is a great attraction so maybe a flag outside to note when the water gates have opened to notify guests will be great .

Although we still paid a normal price, there was no warm water the first evening and the second evening the toilet wasn't working.

My husband went out in dark to find taps for extra water so that we could at least flush the toilet.Very early the next morning I found the owner and she said we could use another toilet in the main building.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

From the friendly welcome, the beautiful, adequately equipped unit and the majestic view of the dam (we were blessed to have a unit that overlooked the dam)- we had no complaints.

Parking was secure, our hostess was charming, friendly and quickly helped us and our dog settle in.

There are never any problems and the people are very friendly.

Unfortunately for us we could not sleep as there was a party in the neighbourhood which kept us up until the early hours of the morning.

The owner should consider remote installed for the gates as room 3 parking was unsafe when reversing out into a main road, and getting out to close the gate.

We really enjoyed our stay - great view, clean accommodation, warm and welcoming host.

Host was very efficient with check in as well.

Arriving at the premises were welcomed  by the owner and his dog.

The owners hospitality and friendliness made us feel right at home, we would have loved to spend another night.

The aircon was broken, there are no cupboards and there is a very dicey and wobbly sliding door between the toilet and main room which one must be careful not to dislodge.

Not great due to noisy neighbours right next door.

We only arrived after 7 (due to excessive rains on our way to Colesberg) and were told the restaurant closes at 8.

Large swimming pool (a bit fresh at this time ^^), bring your towels.

Apparently the manageress  alots 2 sachets per room , and no fresh milk,

The staff are very friendly and we had a nice chat with the owner, what a nice guy!

The whole set up is now much more developed with thick well looked after, green, kikuyu lawn, a reasonably good dirt road to the compound from which you will see various types of buck, and friendly, helpful staff.

The staff is kind, the area is calm and relaxing.

When booking this place the owners will send you directions how to get there.

The only issue was that the double bed mattress creaked.

So drive for 6-7 hours up to Gariep Dam and pay only R230 for a bed to sleep for 8-10 hours, Next day you are fresh for the balance of the trip.

The rooms with the single beds could have had a bedside lamp.

but she told me that they were close and I could not stay there because I was late, so I have to stay in another facility.

This venue is very basic, comprising of very limited facilities.

Inspite of me having my dates muxed up, the personnel were very friendly and accomodating.

The house is neat and host very friendly and helpfull.

The staff went out of their way to ensure we were adequately taken care of.

but I notified on the same day of my arriving that will be arriving around 11 p.m.

Hospitable with good service.Interesting history both of venue as well as the origin of the name Abancidou.Well done Phillip.Peacefull good nights rest just as one would wish for.Gariep is a good half way stop.

Check in was prompt, staff was friendly nice and quiet to get away from city life breakfast could do with a slight lift other than that worth going back

the place is immaculate.. the staff are very friendly and helpful.. the rooms are just the right size.. we got an excellent room with ‘our own patio’.. it is so peaceful.. simply blissful !

It's in a part of the town where I certainly did not feel safe.

It felt like these 'cottages' were legacy from the construction of the road and dam in years gone by.

The location was terrible as it felt like you were staying in an informal settlement.

On arrival where met at the garage by Johan and his wife, which was friendly and polite and very accommodating.

The staff and owners greeted us with kindness.

although Ronnie Lovemore the manager was charming and helpful it wasn't for us!

Some of the problems we experienced were the two leather chairs on the stoep being so weathered that one cannot sit on these, and the upholstery and carpets inside also look weary and dusty.

but the kitchen was just a wall at the end of the lounge which meant a very cramped space to work in and with no table or chairs it meant having to sit on the settees with your plate on your lap.

The kitchen had a working kettle and fridge, and whilst it had crockery and cutlery, they were the very bare essentials.The bedrooms had air-conditioning, which, in our room, at 5:00am, started making such a noise it had to be switched off.

In the kitchen, the fridge compartment was so blocked with ice that we could hardly remove the two ice holders to get some ice, two legs of the table in the living area are broken and near collapsing, and there were not enough wine and water glasses for four people.
