Interleading door needs better sound proofing.

One set of our room doors were stuck shut, the curtains were tied up with string and wouldn’t open properly, the deck outside of our room was very worn, there were bare electrical wires behind the bed, there were several burned-out lightbulbs which we replaced after requesting from staff, there were broken floor tiles, the shower knobs didn’t work properly, and we couldn’t close the bathroom door without locking it.

although the setting was lovely, it was spoilt by the lack of power all night!!

Also, we had to unplug the fridge in our room because it was noisy and woke us up in the night.

Friendly service the, food was amazing and it is quiet and tranquil.

The only redeeming feature (since check out was already at 0900 and no breakfast was on offer) was a nice bathroom and a very friendly owner.

if check out time is 10: 00, it must apply to all  your guest regardless of skin colour.

but if you are booking make sure you check which bedroom you are booking and confirm the size bed.

In two phone calls prior to arrival she was blunt and unfriendly.

Upon entering the room I reported that the room was not what we paid for as there was no four posted bed.

The only gripe we had was having to pay for drinking water as the tap water was not recommended.

I booked (and paid more for) a luxury room via Hotels.com (Expedia) and got a really sub standard room.

Just one negative that one needs to adress was the fact that 12 months ago it was a bed and breakfast included in the price and this year no breakfast and the price was also much more that last year.

but it was, none the less, comfortable.I thought it was a bit costly but it was all we could find for one night.

What we paid for the night is what we normally pay for our diner in the bedroom charge, quite an opener.

but as we have only the end number it seemed overpriced.

From the friendly welcome, the beautiful, adequately equipped unit and the majestic view of the dam (we were blessed to have a unit that overlooked the dam)- we had no complaints.

Parking was secure, our hostess was charming, friendly and quickly helped us and our dog settle in.

We were two couples that recently spent a night at this hotel on our way back from Cape Town.This hotel is much to be desired.The rooms are atrocious and the bathroom pathetic.The only plus factor is the view of the dam

I am 1.84m and i had to lift my arms to get over the bathroom basin its so high!!

Furniture is delapidated with signs of water damage in the bathroom; bathrooms, especially the showers, need a good scrub; food is nice

Toilet seat looks like it was installed when hotel was build.

Sleep was disturbed by showers and slamming doors  between 3:00 and 4:00.

but make it cold and looks kind of dirty - from the sun shining in you could see where it had been brushed in the middle but not around the sides of the room, so walking on the floor left your feet dirty after a shower.

Only one bathroom (probably should have noticed in the information given) and no air conditioning.

A basin in the small kitchen is available for washing cups

but for the price it is not acceptable that a self-catering apartment doesnt have a basic set of dishes or that the dishes i received were dirty.

Floor gives you the look that its very dirty.

Stayed overnight on my way up from Port Alfred to JHB and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing views, clean and neat rooms, friendly staff and amazing food.

After staying at many other places throughout SA we feel that the price is a little high.

The meal in the restaurant was pricey and really not good, tough lamb and overcooked eggy creme brulee.

Eventually when we paid the GM for teas we were introduced to one of the TWO restaurant managers,

Its definitely overpriced for the service&quality you receive!

For the type of hotel and cost of the room, I would have expected a LCD against the wall and double the screen size.

but expensive and we were surprised to find that a cooked breakfast was not included in the bed and breakfast rate - we were told that only cereal and fruit was included.

We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and found the food to be tasty, varied, plentiful and well priced.

We booked into the 'Good Hope' suite at a cost of R2 450 excluding breakfast.

The rooms are spacious, the location is great, as the view over the dam was stunning!

Currently, while the rooms are spacious and clean, there is a feeling of neglect.

What followed was  a skirmish over packets of Ricoffee and extra milk.

The buffet breakfast of everyday cereal, a punnet of yogurt, bread, eggs, bacon and a sausage was  just under R100 - we had to pay R18 a cup for filter coffee instead of the instant that was included..

We would have preferred filter coffee instead of the instant coffee served at breakfast though.

Also, there was only instant coffee at breakfast.

The staff are very friendly and we had a nice chat with the owner, what a nice guy!

The whole set up is now much more developed with thick well looked after, green, kikuyu lawn, a reasonably good dirt road to the compound from which you will see various types of buck, and friendly, helpful staff.

Beware of  a lot of noise when people in the upstairs unit move.

They also have beer in their bar :)
2 negatives I could mention is that there was no WIFI, the floor was a bit noisy upstairs.

Not great due to noisy neighbours right next door.

I was warned of the noise from the freeway,

but at the same time let in lots of noise from the families with young children who appear to be this resort's primary market.

The staff is kind, the area is calm and relaxing.
