Broken A/C resulted in having to move rooms.

It takes ages to resolve aircon issue once i report it to front desk.

In that first night,same air con problem recurred after i slept and woke up during night because of feeling hot.

It seems they don’t take the request into account
- I had to change room during the first evening because the aircon was not working anymore
- WiFi was a disaster.

The rooms air conditioner was faulty so the room was freezing cold - heater element not working.

Also the air conditioner was not working properly it took thirty minutes for maintenance technician to come and attend to it.

We spent the night with a annoying noise of water dripping from the ceiling aircon onto the carpet in the room.

My rooms aircon could not get the temperature below 25 and kept switching off.

If you are sensitive to temperature, I would look elsewhere, since most hotels have individual A/C units controlled by the occupant.

Sleepless nights due to no Air con after being reported 3 times, water not replaced even after contacting reception about not being replaced also towels not returned after used ones took away,think staff re training is needed

Bathtub and shower, fridge, electric jug, fan, something I bet is a coffee maker etc.

Absolut and Elyx lounge was super liiiit, the girls and l were kept on our toes the entire night though the heaters weren't so warm

Please cover up the deck, it's a bit chilly or put more heaters

The Rooms were really not great, TV in both our rooms did not work, the Aircon in Room 139, did not work properly, as i think the AC is too small for the room.

Aircon wasnt cold and stopped working on Auto mode, giving error messages.

Several times over the course of my stay, I noticed the air conditioning had shut off during the night and had to be manually restarted and waking up in a pool of sweat was not pleasant.

And the tub itself is difficult to step out of as it is approximately a 20-22 inch high tub and it is difficult to climb out with one foot and try to lift your other leg out, and hopefully not slip on the floor.

No service at breakfast buffet, has to eventually walk around chasing down a server
Parking gate not working
In room TV remote not working.

The lifts need to be checked as the door closes whilst trying to enter..

The lift didn’t work where I was, neither did the automatic door, so had to do a round trip around half the hotel to get to my room.

Sometimes there is no electricity and the rooms on the other side of the square have no backup generator so expect to be stuck in the lifts or even in your room unless you feel like going up and down 6 flights of stairs.

Got the key to my first floor room soon I got out of the lift I got lost in a maze of winding hall ways.

I got stuck in the elevator for 30 minutes.

To access the gym, I have to come downstairs to the lobby and walk across reception in my gym clothes in front of everyone to access the elevator to the other 'tower'.

The elevator’s could use an upgrade as at times I had to wait quite a while to get downstairs as the other elevators were out of service.

I unfortunately was allocated a room in the annex area , the lift and lobby area poky and untidy, my floor had unfinished maintenance and the AC were just not working on the floor which created a very uncomfortable evening .

), light switches in the wrong places (bathroom controlled from main door), very loud bar (nightclub/bar) on 3rd floor (until after 12 on Fri/Sat and till late other days), slow almost non-operational lifts and drunks noisily leaving the 3rd floor roof bar past rooms on the 3rd floor (waiting for very slow lifts and friends).

The secure key card lifts give are the best with terms of security. Had a few issues with reception staff regarding check in

Room: Was on the second floor, so left bank of lifts.

There was also little problem with one of the elevator, for some strange reason sensor wouldn't read the room keys.

The Lifts are a bit rickety,  They are new

Third time up and down the lift and I finally got my cold milk.

Little did I know there was a club in the hotel, patron sharing a lift to the club upstairs with guests.

Firstly, at check in, they gave me a room too close to the lift.

In fact, the staff go above and beyond to help their customers - I found myself stuck in an elevator because my key-card had stopped working (elevator access to the room floors is access controlled).

The warm welcome, friendly staff, secure environment, proximity to almost everything in Gaborone, a modern touch, great conferencing facilities.

Employees overall very friendly and helpful, unfortunately we had several defects in our 2 rooms.

The hotel is  very nice and clean,friendly staff except for that 24hr room service .The food is always out of stock and took a long  time (hours)to come to the room.I reported that to the manager and Lebo was so good in handling my complaint.Except for that I would go there again nice and quiet and the Wifi is so good  .Their breakfast is also nice.

This really is a wonderful hotel in a friendly, clean and top-class city.

First, the good:  front desk help was friendly and efficient at check in.

Very helpful and friendly staff and the rooms are fine with plenty of room, good bathroom and some facilities such as a safe and desk to work at.

however is very friendly, there was a porter that showed us around (he wears his jacket with several badges from different countries).

Quiet, with a desk to work at, restaurants downstairs, friendly staff, a safe for laptops and valuables and basement parking.

The hotelstaff were super nice and always friendly and smiling.

I really enjoyed my stay and staff at the reception area are very friendly and helpful.

I formerly was a frequent guest at the Gaborone Sun,

After two visits to Gaborone Sun (which I loved), my client booked me into Lasmore Masa Square.

I come from the perspective of staying at the Gaborone Sun on two previous trips.

The hotel lacks the charm of the Gaborone Sun

I'll stay at the Gaborone Sun next time and give this one a try again in a year or so.

but staff were professional and courteous and managed all the guests really well.

This is accessible to both residents and non-residents to the hotel using the same lift to guest rooms.

The bathroom has 2 signs requesting guests to save water by re-using towels.

In my view, the reception should advise guests on night events and location during check-in, so that can choose  their preferences for rooms.

When it belonged to Lonrho, they recognized me as a frequent guest and I would receive an upgrade to a Club Room.

Hotel staff, whilst for the most part friendly and willing to help, are largely ineffective and at times, appear to have absolutely no idea what they are doing - the nuances and subtleties of the hotel business and guest relationship management seems to escape them!

Todd the Guest manager made sure everything turned out alright.

There is also a nice open air bar/club on the 3rd floor that is open for hotel guests.

What an outstanding way to treat your guests.

but that will be evened out by the cheaper room that guest houses offer.

They really go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and "make a plan" to assist with requests,  like a quick deviation on the way back to the airport to feel a local market atmosphere.

but greet the guest, looking him or her in the eyes.

From the very beginning, the staff greeted me as a VIP guest, calling by name, and welcoming me with smiles.

Hotel wifi is weak, often very congested, and since it's unsecured (anyone can login), your computer is visible to other guests using wifi.

Underground parking is secure and free if you are a guest.

Definitely the courtesy calls made every evening around 17:00 by the reception truly assure the guest that comfort and security is their personal pledge not so much fiduciary.

Room phones dont work means of communication is WHATS UP

House keeping was a problem (twice) had to call the duty manager to address the matter.

We began the drive back to the hotel, halfway he got a call and turned back to pick up more people who had been forgotten.

but he refused to talk on phone (Front desk requested to send an email )when i had issue @8pm and problem remains same till next day 8PM.

and even after calling the reception to receive that it took them more than an hour to bring it.

Only thing I did not enjoy was the call from room service and hour after delivering the tray to ask me if they can fetch the tray.

Am I the only one who finds it unacceptable to even be calling a guest at night?

In entire Gaborone airport, there is NO WI FI so either you use international call or get stuck.

I was told that they'd call me back (what do you think happened?).

Is this serious management in a city that can all goods from South Africa in 4 hours or just call Shoprite around the corner??? ?

Last time I had NO towels in my room and had to call.

There isn't enough information in the room on how to order room service or phone other rooms.

I tried to call reception  who did not answer and walked down to reception.

It took 3 calls to room service before they could tell me what the soup and veg options were and only got it right because the chef herself had to take over to tell me on the phone.

It would help if staff can indicate if something is not available when you place the order rather than calling minutes later and then you have to change the order.

TV remote didn't work and we had to call for assistance with aircon.

but subject to cancellation without any reason or notice, please check and call before going).

However i did advise reception and the guy on duty immediately gave me another password .

My stay at the Masa Square hotel was truly  and  unforgettable experience, the staff at the  front desk  Lebo who with a smile assisted me, also Jessica Laone, Kago , services  Ntmabicseng,Albertinah,Kelly , and others will definitely recommend .Harry Baboolal  Canada.

As time rocked by staff shrugged, told us we had plenty of time and generally refused to take any accountability.

The staff at the masa square was helpful.

Very good reception and the rooms are very spacious and spotless clean.

Had misplaced cell phoned, everyone was helping to find it.

I have stayed at Masa for 7 days and I must say that hotel is an average hotel, welcoming was very moderate and the stuff was unfriendly. In general everyday there was something missing at the room (a towel, soap, etc.)

But the bathroom had no soap or towels, and there was an inch of rather dirty water across much of the floor in front of the showers, which did not drain properly.

Lastly the towels were also not clean, and i was really very disappointed.

Bathroom bulbs were not working, there were no drinking glasses placed in the bathroom, only 2 towels were provided in the bathroom, the cleaning was so sub-standard.

The pool looked unclean no deck chairs no towels no where to even sit, not a soul was at the pool.

Having traveled and stayed in hotels around the world, I’ve become accustomed to certain amenities, one being face cloths in the bathroom and extra towels being replaced with extra towels.

For example, there is no follow up after you request something and requesting room service or additional towels can take a very long time.

The rooms at Masa is good and clean, Only the room I stayed in now had old towels and only one .

One bath and one hand towel in the bathroom.

but found it odd that there was no facecloth in the bathroom and only 1 towel.

It's the basic things that need attention, like a broken soap bracket in the bathroom; no hand towel in the room on the second day and a few other small things.

I don't like the one towel in the room given some of us had long flight and need to freshen up on a late arrival.

For a 4 star rated hotel 
Only one set of towels for 1 person and toiletries per room.

but they forgot to leave clean towels in the rooms a few times.

Due to poor design of the glass partition for the shower, water would get on the floor every day.

Freezing cold water when taking showers and shaving in sink.

In the room bathroom the sink drain was blocked, the bath grab rail and soap tray broken and loose and trying to take a shower with hot and cold water problems was not pleasent.

It was not up to standard, sometimes my fridge was not filled with bottled water.

Poorly maintained rooms, the toilets were worn out bathroom shower left water all over the room, which was a hazard.

Poorly maintained (that toilet seat is a health hazard - see photo), inattentive and inconsistent staff, poor quality room service (service and food), no hot water one morning, shockingly bad internet every day, just an overall bad experience.

No hot water in the rooms at all times leaving us having to shower early in the morning with cold water and not given the special  room rate offered by the hotel as a special as we booked through Booking.com.

but you can tell that your house keeping do not clean the place properly every day I had the gown on the chair in the room from monday and it was only hanged on Thursday, there were marks on the carpet and the bathroom taps had water stains from the morning when I got back to the hotel in the evening.

Despite the freezers highest temp, it can't even keep ice cream solid let alone water cold.

Bathroom fittings loose, water leaks from poorly fitted shower screens, and water temperature impossible to control (too hot/cold).

but the bath-tub should be fitted with at least a screen or shower curtain, as water kept splashing out, causing wet floors each time I showered.

but in the room the amenities were incomplete (no shower gel) and there was no bottled water.

We were only afforded one bottle, per person, of water a day.

Bath shower which I dont really like and the water was tempremental (hot and cold).

Sometimes there is no hot water

Air conditioning did not work for two days.

On arrival the receptionist tried to charge us again for our rooms and did not provide any information about the hotel and amenities.

Had to ask for coffee and soap, which was removed from the room.

I forfeited calling again as having called prior for shampoo got me no action.

Housekeeping could be a bit haphazard, with no shower mat one day, and no shampoo the next.

The air conditioners are old and not really cooling with high temperature in Gaborone in summer.

but the bathroom was showing it’s age and avoiding being shrink wrapped by the nylon shower curtain was a constant struggle.

The bathroom had both a bathtub and a shiwer which us a bit on the smaller side.

A few very small things: the wifi in the rooms wasn't great in the room, I'd to stand by the door in order to send emails and texts; I was in an adjoining room and while I didn't know my neighbours and the door was never open I could hear when they were chatting, their tv and also when they were showering, it really wasn't an issue

but no soap nor shampoo/shower-gel though these appeared later in the stay.

A sanitizing hand gel dispenser was empty the entire time and has likely been forgotten.

service at the restaurant was a bit slower especially in the evening

In my room I noticed a leak in the shower and I called for the maintenance team which responded immediately to help me out.

Next on my list.. shower, then trying to dry my hair.

but deep down the plumbing has not been revamped, basins do not drain, water pressure is bad.

We stayed at the old room for the first two days which was horrible due to the very small outdated shower with mould

The bathroom was unclean and had mold everywhere.

No response from maintenance employees to open a terrace door, shower door was broken, bathroom full of water after showering.

I found the level of service to be really high - the receptionists, waiters, housekeepers - everyone was really attentive, friendly and happy to help

I like the place, ride when I need it and it was my first time in Africa, I'm excited to say I came here, first of the people I know, and I will come again one day, the outside service in the restaurant was very nice and friendly

It’s a great place to stay with friendly staff that are always willing to assist.

but wonderful stay with my boys, we enjoys the the friendly service clean facilities and luxurious rooms.

This was my 2nd time staying there and the staff were very friendly and polite at all time.

I used to love this place for business lunch meetings when was under Gaborone Sun hotel.

Avani Resort  & casino has been a commendable hotel,even before it changed its name from Gaborone Sun.It is still the best hotel in Botswana,it has kept its great standard regardless of the newly built hotels that gives it competition from CBD ,Avani is still the best.

The former Gaborone Sun has gotten an extensive facelift.

I stayed here twice while it was still the Gaborone Sun, and loved it.

Stayed at the old Gaborone Sun which is now Avani.

Pretty slim pickings in Gaborone (at least I couldn't recognise any well know brands) so I settled for the Avani, which used to be the Gaborone Sun.

Remember it's AVANI Hotel once known as Gaborone Sun Hotel, your preferred business hotel in Gaborone.

On a trip to Botswana I thought I had a reservation to the Avani Hotel, which at the time was transitioning from the Gaborone Sun.

I stayed in Avani hotel (more known as Gaborone Sun Hotel by locals) for one week due to business trip in Gaborone.

The Gaborone Sun is now called Avani Gaborone Hotel & Casino.

Gaborone Sun Hotel was a comfortable and pleasant as expected.

Gaborone Sun is a simple yet lovely hotel situated well.

I note some of the other travellers comments and while they may at times be valid, trust me the Gaborone Sun is still a very good choice of place to stay in Gaborone

As an American expatriate who has lived in Botswana for many years, I have often attended various functions and meetings at the Gaborone Sun, and have put up friends and family there in the past.

Recently stayed for a third time at the Gaborone Sun.

Stayed at the Gaborone Sun again and it's still pretty decent, good food, good central location and nice common areas.

She was so happy even in the morning when we had our break fast.

We live in Gaborone and needed a break and we got that and more.

The break fast was delicious with a wide range of dishes

The swimming pool is clean and feels like a holiday place more  than just a hotel.

but that is part of live, you normally want to enjoy yourself when you are on holiday.

I'm hopeful  that with COVID protocols coming to an end, the service will improve to their pre-covid standards.

The room service was also upto standard and the meals were delicious.

The hotel provide excellent services, staff assists clients with a smile from the first instance you arrive, there is water to hydrate, the health and safety is of high standards.

Rooms are of the highest standard, exceptionally clean and comfortable.

Avani has caught my eye and feelings of course as it has reached a world class standard close to a Dubai one.

I would rate the place as a typical 4 star casino hotel.

From the minute you arrive you feel in a quality hotel.

The room - quality hairdryer, glorious shower (large cubicle), clean wooden floors (not a mucky carpet) and good room service.

I stayed in Avani Gaborone for 2 nights the newlook is amazing as u enter the hotel,reception staff,housekeeping staff woow the service is top notch my room was very clean from the bathroom to the bedroom,the linen pure white and of high quality.

The people are very nice and attentive bu the service doesn't match with the hotel standards.

The food served at the restaurant was really of good quality and standard.

The proximity to the SA border makes a late entry to Botswana seem acceptable.
