Be prepared for a sleepless night if you have the air conditioner on.

The string to put on the bed side light is not there, the AC remote does not work, you get a nice Nespresso machine

Also air conditioning and phones were broken.

Its a very humid location and I really wish air conditioning was working as getting a good nights rest was difficult.

the air conditioning in the room kept turning off during the night and some of the lights would continually flicker.

Broken AC, chair with leather cover that is pealing.

I expected better service - seems no one inspects rooms (cleanliness, plumbing, electrical, cooling).

Some of the facilities need upgrading, namely the air conditioner units.

The air conditioners are old and not really cooling with high temperature in Gaborone in summer.

While there is a water cooler downstairs, in our 3-week stay there were never any cups and both areas would also benefit from some sanitizing spray, paper towels and fans.

At first I was in an (unnecessary - courtesy of my sponsor) suite which, in the hot month of January, the air-conditioning was not up to.

The air conditioner is loud even at the lowest setting.

Service at breakfast painfully slow - I think they must have been roasting the coffee beans to order.

Not the most cost effective for cash strapped visitors though.

And the aircon wasn't heating the room well enough.

Once in the room I felt the coolness of the aircon and had some tea.

However I quickly found the air con unit was faulty, producing a "clanking" noise when on.

The hotel refused to honor my GHA Discovery rate of P900 per room.

The only restaurant available - The Pool Bar is expensive, offering carbo loaded, tasteless, generic food.

The food and drinks is also very pricey considering that most of the wine comes from South Africa.

Money paid v service delivered is not proportional.

However there are somethings to which guess pays attention.

Compared to the high rates for their rooms the quality of service and room standards are to be desired.

I am appalled that they had the nerve to charge me 2880 BWP/ 265 USD when they couldn't offer a half decent Internet service, for that price I'm expecting lightning fast Internet speed.

I have no idea about the price of the rooms,

As the booking and several of the meals I had while there were paid for by work and the host company I can't comment on value.

How i wish they had an Avani card where one will earn points and have reduced prices especially in accommodation.

Reception tried using my MVG card instead of credit card to pay bill .

Staff members need training, they seem to be too casual and for the type of hotel and the cost of staying in it, i would have easily rated the hotel as a 5 star hotel,

Relative to its price, this hotel is not good.

The only problem is money exchange as there are not many Exchange house close by to hotel and (even at Airport just one Exchange house is not very efficient as they were found closed at 1330 hrs when my plane landed) Hotel  USD or ZAR  /Pula Exchange rate is horribly unfair.

Additional drinking water could be provided at nominal additional cost.

We would have been charged a different price had we not had a copy of our booking information.

but the double burger and club sandwich is a rip off.

Expensive for the facilities, some parts of the hotel are not well maintained.

The room was quiet dated and a lot of the items in the room didn't work e.g.

but the bathroom was showing it’s age and avoiding being shrink wrapped by the nylon shower curtain was a constant struggle.

A few very small things: the wifi in the rooms wasn't great in the room, I'd to stand by the door in order to send emails and texts; I was in an adjoining room and while I didn't know my neighbours and the door was never open I could hear when they were chatting, their tv and also when they were showering, it really wasn't an issue

My room faced the bar/pool, so I could hear loud talking and smell smoke seeping through my room.

The rooms overlooking the garden can be noisy especially at weekends.

We moved because we couldn’t hear each other, and were getting soaked from the kids splashing in the pool.

Music from pool bar still so loud that I can hear it above my TV sound.

Room so noisy my bed might have feel been on the pavement; leave blower at 0600hrs every morning didn't help.

Even with both doors closed I could clearly hear what was happening in the room next door and I am sure my neighbour could hear everything I was doing as well.

Sleep was quiet as long as i did not turn on the AC/heater which was a bit noisy.

Although under renovation, construction was kept within business hours and our stay was not disrupted.

The lobby area has been clearly hastily put together with lots of chairs and sofas thrown around in a very impersonal manner on a busy corridor full of noisy people.

Maybe because there is renovations currently underway at this Avani, I found that there is little or lack of attention to details and small things which can make customer forgive the noise, the dust and the smell of paint all over the place.

Only big complaint was Hotel was going under renovations and it was very noisy as the workmen carried out work all day and night so a lot of banging and noise in the middle of the night and early morning! !

though the hotel is unedrgoing some renovation, noise was kept at a minimal and the team was prepared to giide in case one was lost and did not know where to go.

Variety in the breakfast menu, room cleanliness is always at its best.

The rooms were kept clean and service was of good supply.

I stayed in Avani Gaborone for 2 nights the newlook is amazing as u enter the hotel,reception staff,housekeeping staff woow the service is top notch my room was very clean from the bathroom to the bedroom,the linen pure white and of high quality.

The hotel has a new feel about it, the service has improved and the rooms are clean and very well kept.

However, the room was clean and the aircon was a welcome relief from the heat.

The service is slow when you can get any.

The pool bar staff were a little slow to follow up to take orders and even slower to bring the change.

but the last few visits hap been very disappointing,
firstly the wi fi is never is a proper working order you need to log in all the time (this is very frustrating) once you are logged in the wi fi is so slow it is better to rather go with out it.

Other than slow internet, which is a standard across Africa, I cannot complain about the Avani, I only have good things to say!

Reasonable Internetbut could be very slow and furstrating.

Having moved rooms today to try and get away from the noise of very loud music, I waited for nearly 2 hours for room service - promised in 40-50 minutes.

I am awake 11.30pm with loud music from a club after waiting for hours to check in and get some sleep.

Please note that this hotel has restaurants that play very loud music until late at night.

Loud speakers have plastic bags over them to stop the rain causing any music to be distorted.

At best it is average, at worst it is sweaty and loud.

Loud music can be heard in 1rst floor room

but the loud music at night made our stay very unpleasant.

The music is really loud and disturbing for the likes of me who needed sleep.

Be warned: On the weekends a DJ plays very, very loud music on the patio, which can be heard throughout the hotel.

really bad nothing was okay the staff was totally bad make no mistake to book this hotel you gona be disappointed 100% i guarantee you that and the service was 0 % and the pool was never open because the roof top bar was open and very loud even night

), light switches in the wrong places (bathroom controlled from main door), very loud bar (nightclub/bar) on 3rd floor (until after 12 on Fri/Sat and till late other days), slow almost non-operational lifts and drunks noisily leaving the 3rd floor roof bar past rooms on the 3rd floor (waiting for very slow lifts and friends).

There was also a lot of noise from the party by the pool which was irritating.

Theres is loud music every night until 3am.

Even on the first floor, we heard the bass bumping for the majority of the night.

The noise from the square can be very loud on a Friday and you will hear it no matter where your room is.

Ask for a room facing the street, not the courtyard, or you will have a lot of noise from bands that play in the square.

Every weekend there is a bar in the square that booms out loud music until the early hours of the morning.

Thirdly they had this party and offered breakfast for the Vodka party or something like that,

Service appalling and noise does not make for a very satisfying stay.

Firstly the noise as it’s in CBD 2nd one of the days no fresh milk for breakfast & following day no tomato, onion or cheese at breakfast ( no stock count in the kitchen, run till empty or guests complain) thirdly come back on a Sunday afternoon @16:00 and no house keeping also laundry is a day late.

although wanting to help, are unable to control to noise of their neighbours.

Noise levels on the Friday and Saturday nights unbearable.

Shortly after i sat down and ordered my food, the same person who had been snoring loudly the previous evening sat at the next table - he had brought along his own drink.

I was in a room facing the front of the hotel which overlooked a fairly busy road that got noisy from about 05.30 (normal working day starts at about 8am)  If you need sleep or are a light sleeper perhaps the back of the hotel might be a bit quieter.

We spent the night with a annoying noise of water dripping from the ceiling aircon onto the carpet in the room.

The only downside to my stay, which is of no fault to the hotel, is that when your room gives on the square, don’t expect to sleep until after all the restaurants close at 2AM or later because of the noise.

The noise level from downstairs particularly on a weekends is unbearable.

The problems start with the restaurants downstairs and the square being really noisy.

Also there was a high school dance held there Friday night and the noise from drop off vehicles and the event could be heard clearly in my room.

The noise from the outside courtyard of non residents made it impossible to sleep until after midnight.

The hotel precinct is noisy, especially if you staying through the weekend.

even though I had a top floor room, the noise from the square at night (especially the music) were distracting until quite late when trying to go to sleep.

This did not seem like a necessity based on the hotel traffic or the cleaning schedule.

but a friend on the courtyard side (where all the restaurants are) said the music from there was pretty loud in her room, til about 11PM one night.

I requested an iron and ironing board as the rooms apparently do not come with a set.

However we were not met at the airport and had to call and request a pick up which was difficult without reception and whilst being hassled by taxi drivers.

I requested them that i need to talk to GM

It seems they don’t take the request into account
- I had to change room during the first evening because the aircon was not working anymore
- WiFi was a disaster.

When asked if she checked the plates as they left the kitchen, she said they did,

Although the cleaners and reception were notified none delivered to my request.

I would request a higher floor in the future.

but when I requested one, it was delivered to the room promptly.

I requested a later check-out just in case my meeting ran a bit late.

The first night I was there, I requested a car/driver to Mokolodi Game Reserve.

The stay was fine except that my shuttle from the Airport was not booked by the hotel even though my booking confirmation stated my request for an airport shuttle, I was collected 45 minutes after arrivng at the airport and the driver did not greet or apologise for the mistake

Asked for a quiet room, was given a room on the first floor above the square, so noisy.

If you want quiet, request a room the DOES NOT look down into the square.

It looked like the serving personnel didn't all get the same training and there was confusion with certain basic things, such as request for milk in separate containers.

Next i requested for airport transfer, on arriving there was no one there to pick me.

After the second time, I asked for a spare key as I wasn't sure what the deal was.

Requested laundry, ended up with the wrong laundry mixed in with my own.

When i asked staff, they said that they simply dont have stock and that management knows that.

but there was no menu, so i again called down to reception to be told the same story, they dont provide guests menus unless asked for??

The room was clean and everything was in great working order.

The Staff was very welcoming and our room was clean and tidy and well furnished.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food delicious and varied, and the service acceptable.

Rooms are very clean with good business work space, TV and reliable internet.

The rooms are very neat and pleasant, you can literally set-up your business meetings close to the hotel, access to restaurants and coffee shops a few meters away from the hotel.

The rooms are clean, very secured, spacious and has free WiFi, flat screen TV, fridge, comfortable bed, coffee and tea machines with coffee and tea bags.

Just way too expensive for this kind of hotel.

It would be perfect if it were not for the following: noisy rooms because of 24 hour central airconditioning, distance to shopping centres and other restaurants, expensive food and and drinks and the fact that after 18:00 one can no longer order a light dinner at any of the bars or restaurants.

Check in was slow and the rate charged was not as per the Booking.com confirmation

P39.00 for an Amstel Light is still rather expensive.

For the amount you pay the service is abysmal.

but out of principle will not pay a cover charge to enter, joke!!

We had to pay more for what was mentioned on the booking we had made.

We were greeted by being told that our room was not available and that there were only single rooms available when we had paid for a double.

Also be prepared , there is a 10 Pula charge to enter the casino which I found quite strange,as in South Africa we dont pay casino entrance fees.

even though it was among the most expensive in the city.

Atlast I paid whatever they said which was 400pula higher than the booking cost.

I had to order and pay for 350ml bottle of water while in some hotels I have stayed in, complementary water is provided every day.

Please consider your rates as these are a little higher for similar establishments.

I enjoyed my stay with Walmont, the room was neat and refreshing with a nice view overlooking the pool.

The rooms are clean, and you are instantly at home as soon as you walk into the room.

Room were very clean and warm form winter season.

The staff is so warm and welcoming.Variety of food served, cleanliness of the room,WiFi connection very fast for us who are in business.

Clean rooms, good and friendly service, tasty food, beautiful surroundings are some positives of this hotel.

The service were very good and the food very well prepared and offered , accommodation  very good clean neat and room very convertible, add onto that friendly professional service from all personnel, was a genuine enjoyable stay, will surely recommend to friends and colleagues.

Despite repeatedly asking the hotel to investigate the case during our 8-night stay, little real effort was made, progress was slow, communication was poor, and it is unclear whether the 3 main "suspects" (waiter, restaurant manager, cleaning lady) were actually even questioned by security staff.
