Well located and pretty easy to get about without needing a car, we managed Hallstatt and Salzburg easily.

The friendly front staff will guide in full details using a map where your room is located and where you can park your car.

From the minute we drew up in our car we were looked after by the efficient, friendly and oh so helpful staff. Our room (50 again!)

I was taken rather than just directed to a garage where I could park the car.

At the end of the stay the car and luggage were again efficiently organised.

We travelled to St.Wolfgang by car and had a parking space assigned to us behind the apartment.

Whilst we parked the car in their secure car park (about 7 minutes walk away) our cases had been taken to our room (46).

+ Mr. Hans, who was both helpful in carrying the luggage and parking the car.

Some staff are extremely professional and warm such as Doris, Martin and an old staff who took great care of getting our car and helping us with bags.

Singles are usually consigned  to a broom cupboard with a view of the trash cans and car park - not here.

Parking is available at a cost and a car is needed.

Examples: park your own car in the garage, blocks away, rain or sunshine.

You have to use the car park at the other end of the tunnel and walk back.

but we did ask for a fan which helped, the room also needed a bit of a refurb (torn carpet in doorway, dirty paintwork in the bathroom, and some woodwork which looked like it needed re- painting).

The only distaff is that we felt that some of the corridor carpets need to be renewed/cleaned once the summer season was over.

but decor was not tasteful - green carpet and orange curtains with flouncey curtain above bed.

Rooms, at least one we were given woefully outdated, red shag carpet, and not very clean.

Everyone at the hotel is extremely welcoming, friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay just that little bit more special.

A cosy and comfortable hotel, with friendly and efficient staff who go out of their way to help the guests.

The suite was lovely with a perfect lake view, great spa and pool facilities, very friendly, cheerful staff.

The owner is a friendly host meeting and greeting a champagne breakfast on Sunday mornings with piano music been played in the restaurant there is also a cocktail hour prior to dinner one evening again hosted by the owner.

St Wolfgang is really lovely - we watched the band that played in front of the hotel 3 times during our stay and took part in the local food and drink evening that was on whilst we were there which was great fun.

Only thing I can say is that maybe the furniture in the living area of the apartment could be updated after 8 years of staying there !

One of the only places I've ever been to where one can pay upwards of $500 a night and still sleep in sweltering conditions.

but a little run down, they could use some updating.

It's almost like they started renovating these rooms and stopped when almost finished.

I think that since we stayed the rooms have been updated as some were looking a bit old fashioned.

but the wood furniture & decor in the room could use a bit of updating.

On the negative side we found the bedrooms were in need of some refurbishment and the beds were extremely hard.

Currently the hotel is undergoing renovation and this should be finished by 1st May.

although it could have done with abit of updating.

Room was very dated and needs urgently updating.

The servers at the restaurant were outstanding, providing lots of kids' activities, and the staff was generous and welcoming throughout.

Staff attentive at all times and service excellent throughout the hotel.

A completely carefree stay, the staff fulfilled all wishes.

It was nice to see the hotel owner working alongside her team, I’m guessing there were staff shortages due to the pandemic.

The rooms close to the church tower will be disturbed by the bells ringing every 15 minutes during the night!!

Top quality hotel and restaurant, very nice location on the Wolfgangsee lake, one of the best trained personal I experienced and very present owner/manager.

The whole Weissen Rossl team make you very welcome and cannot do enough to make sure you have a great stay.

They arranged a carriage drive for us and were very helpful.

Excellent experience, cleanliness is second to none, hotel staff are so polite, helpful and professional.They speak perfect English as well as German.The spa is perfection, outside heated pool, and heated jacuzzi are amazing, The hotel is perfectly situated in an outstanding area at Wolfgangsee, with a panoramic views of the mountains and the lake.Cuisine experience is a winner, fresh ingredients and professional chefs, made The Whole experience unforgettable.

The staff were fantastic and the food was excellent, with a good choice of vegetarian dishes.

To the contrary hotel staff at the reception and the breakfast/dinner restaurant were very helpful and polite.

The service and the people make you feel welcomed and the views are breath taking it truly is magnificent.

In the old town section, with very narrow streets and limited parking.

It is a pain to get in and out of and that street is a constant pedestrian street.

It was so hot the second night that we slept with the windows open despite the street noise and church bells.

This meant that sleep was very broken due to the incessant (every quarter hour) tolling of the church bell, and early morning racket in the street below from delivery people and street cleaners.

The very efficient glazed window units opened out onto a small private balcony and also kept out any minor street noise together with the sound of the bells from the adjoining Church clock tower which continue all night.

but were kept awake by outside doors being slammed and voices from the street below (some shouting in the early hours of the morning).

but there were no staff there so eventually we gave up and went across the street to eat.

There was a TV in the room with one English Channel (BBC world news).

Additional requests for an iron, early 7am breakfast on one occasion and the free loan of a DVD player (English news channels only provided) were very speedily met.

We visited all the surrounding villages by ferry, the cog railway and took the cable cr from St Gilgen.

It was fun to watch the movies about it plus Sound of Music on the hotels TV channel.

The family room was spacious and the kids loved their room that also had a TV!

There were also big, fuzzy blankets to drape over you while you lounged and admired the beautiful lake view-very nice touch!

They even play the Sound of Music on their in-house channel.

The furniture left a lot to be desired being rather old & weary, beds were low, and shade curtains unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.

The third night was unbearable and we were bitten by bugs that streamed in through the windows.

Our friends are in room 31 with Windows on two sides and a more intimate view of the lake and old Austrian furniture.

For breakfast we recommend that you sit in the buffet part, a) its closer to the buffet ans b) its easier to get a seat right by the window as in the Kaiserterrasse, you tend to get given the same seat each time.

Also, it was hot when we were there and no screens, no AC meant bugs came in with the open window - shutting it was too stuffy to sleep. As usual in this area, bring your own shampoo and conditioner as they do not provide any - just the "body and hair soap."

A small Sauna has windows overlooking the lake and as with the steam room, is for adults only.

I paid 400€ for a double room which had decor from the 1980s, and the whole hotel has a 'stale' smell of carpets and curtains long overdue for change.

At dawn the light streamed in through the window around the gaps left by the blinds.

Negatives - no black-out curtains in the room.

One has to keep the windows open and it becomes very uncomfortable in peak summer.

As mentioned, the corridor outside reeked of damp, and the room was only habitable by keeping the window open and using an electric fan.

Unfortunately, the rooms we had booked were spoilt due to a fault in plumbing; and the owners themselves came to meet us at the bus stop with their own car; escorting us to an excellent replacement hotel (the foersterhof hotel).

Despite the lack of snow, we had a great time: we pottered about, visited nearby Bad Ischl (pretty), St Gilgen (up the mountain by cable car - gorgeous panoramic views, café with tasty dumplings) and Salzburg (lovely city).

From St Gilgen at the end of the lake is the cable car which climbs to about 5500 ft, again with fabulous views, walks around the top or back down, and paragliders hurling themselves off the top.

We enjoyed our trip up the cog railway and the cable car in St Gilgen (the cars are 50 years old)  We did some nice walks around the lake and went to Hallstatt (very pretty) on the bus.

but I know screens are not popular any where in Europe, just a wish.

Only downside  to the room was that shower arrangement over bath with rigid screen was quite awkward to use with very  little room to manoevre.

The staff were friendly and helpful, our room had everything we wanted and breakfast was brilliant.

The private beach was amazing and the hostess were very friendly and helpful.

The place was really well rested and the staff were friendly and had a good time in the quiet and beautiful resort town.

Unusually for a four star hotel, there was no tea or coffee making facility in the room.

The only thing I would say is that I couldn't quite see the four star aspect of the property in regards to facilities, there was no pool, sauna or fitness room

There are places to go within the area like a thermo pool, a cable car to a gorgeous view and bar.

We arrived after dark and the kind woman at reception allowed us to keep our car parked in front of the hotel for the evening so we could settle in and enjoy our dinner at their restaurant.

Parking is about 500m away in a covered car park and free for guests.

The hotel offers car parking accommodation in a nearby multi-storey facility, which is convenient and easy to access.

We had a rental car and the car park was a short walk up the village (free to guests of the hotel).

If you are traveling by car then a trip to Salzburg some 47km away is well worthwhile.

We hired a car for 3 days and visited other lakes.Halstatt is very spectacular -would recommend the visit to the saltmine.On the other days we did some walks from the resort-would recommend the walk to the Swarzensee(about  3 hours return) and the walk to St Gilgen(about 2 hours-return by ferry).

The hotel is located in the centre of St Wolfgang and it is in a car free zone ( restricted access).

The hotel has car parking facilities (in a car park close by).

The girl at the desk was brand new yet she went above and beyond to help us with a little car rental glitch.

It was off-season and most of the restaurants were closed

This time we came back for my wife’s 50th and we stayed at a different hotel as the one we stayed in last year was closed for referb.

Despite some shops being closed at this time the beauty of the area made up for it in spades.

The lake is exceptionally beautiful and the town is simply charming.

Reception was lovely, the room was big and fine.

Ladies of the house really want to help you and know everything worth to know.

We have returned again to this great hotel and spent four nights relaxing and enjoying the hotel and the surrounding areas.The staff and facilities are great and we always feel welcome.Due to the lack of restaurants open in the area we ate here every night and had very good meals and service.The breakfast spread is excellent and they will even do eggs the way that you like them. This hotel is lovely, the staff are very welcoming and cannot do enough to please.

The reception lady also was very helpful in providing us directions to local sights.

A big thank you to Patricia who was so helpful throughout our stay - she provided driving directions, translation services and recommended 2 lovely restaurants - one at Hallstatt and another at Gmunden.

Good breakfasts, nice restaurant, and really good, attentive and pleasant service from everyone there.

Wonderful time again.Some places just never fail to do it right.Front of house reception nothing to much.Very helpful ask anything and for sure it will be done if possible.Rooms very,very clean.Beds you get actually a good night sleep.Food .Breakfast the best you can get in whole Austria I think .Plus a lovely young lady was serving eggs the way you like it and gives you the best smile ever.And NO I am not related to the Owners .Ill be back 😎    .

Space in the garage is tight if you have a larger car.

We only stayed one night because of tight schedule, it's a pity that we couldn't stay longer at this hotel at St. Wolfgang!

From a purely personal point of view only two things would turn excellence into perfection; a tea/coffee maker in the room and some sort of transportation to and from the car park.

The minor is that the lake area isn't easy reachable by public transportation.

The hotel is ideally situated for trips in all directions, both in public transport or by car.

Recommend to go to nearby Wolfgangsee as well and get the cable car up the Zwolferhorn.

The hotel has its own car park just outside the front door.

We would definitely recommend a visit to Hallstatt and a trip on the Dachstein cable car.

The Zwolferhorn in St Gilgen is a spectacular cable car and we were lucky and went up on a clear sunny warm day.

The staff are excellent - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

The family running the hotel are super friendly and welcoming in every way.
