The rooms do not have aircon, this was only really noticeable at night when we had the windows open and there was a fair bit of noise coming from the street,

The rooms have no a/c or fans, and even with all doors and windows closed the music across the street is unbearable and the room hot.

Do be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning, meaning you'll want your window open in warm weather.

My only down fall with this room was that it did not have air conditioning, and the days which we stayed were very warm (around 30 degrees c) and so we had to keep the balcony door open to let the cool air in,

Car parking for the hotel guests was just up the road and was free to use, garage parking was available for a charge, hotel is centrally located in the pedestrian area, and so very handy for the lovely restaurants and bars, entertainment also in the village square a couple of nights a week.

Thank you for space for the car, leaving late, and also ginger breads on pillows in our room.

The hotel has a private garage for parking your car, good quality bicycles for guests to use and a wonderful lakeside garden just a short walk away for sunbathing and lake swimming.

Last of all a big thanks to the young lady that checked us in to the hotel, Vanessa, she went above and beyond, doing everything she could to make us more comfortable, even walking out into the street and showing us where we can park our car.

The hotel has its own multistory car park a few yards away from the hotel.

but the male owner kindly directed us to the free hotel parking where we could keep the car and explore the town.

The cable car is 30 mins approx (up and down) and there are two cafes at the summit.

Due to St Wolfgang being a mainly summer resort, it was a little frustrating that most of the shops were closed, and there is very little choice for night life.

When we arrived we found the door closed and there was a note, in German, telling us that the proprieter had taken his kids somewhere and that he wouldn't be long.

although it's proximity to the church when the bells started ringing at 6am was enough to ensure the windows were closed after the first night!

On the Thurday we went out to a concert in the village & returned at 10.15pm to the hotel for a drink in the bar, only to find it was in darkness having closed early.

It seems to be more of a summer than winter resort as some of the shops were closed for the season,

but even the bigger resorts like Bad Ischl are completley closed, i would recommend maybe going up to the Postalm on these days just for something to do.

We were staying in the hotel next door so cannot comment on the accommodation

Luckily there was a small desk by our door to our room as I setup a chair there as it was the only place where I got a reliable Internet connection.

Our room was spotlessly clean and had a balcony with 2 chairs.

The room was spotlessly clean and of a generous size with bathroom, separate wc, ample cupboard space, a sofa bed for our son and a balcony with seating.

The hotel and rooms are immaculately kept and traditionally Austrian in style.

The rooms were clean, the beds fantastically comfortable, of a good size with views to the lake from the back if your room was above the 2nd level.

The staff that clean your rooms and serve in the dining room and the bar were also really pleasant people which is important.

Good food with vegetarian options, spotless rooms, some are a little small so worth paying for south facing (lake view).

When we were finally checked in, we were directed to a long, tiny room with a bathroom that was even smaller.

Due to location of hotel only a small number of rooms have lake views.

We booked the hotel through Inghams and initially had a problem when we arrived as we had booked a south facing room whereas we were allocated a very small room (north facing) just over the reception -

Yes, they have the wifi and the restaurant, TV in the room, tea making facilities etc.

The room we stayed in was very spacious, and had a tv, balcony and two single beds pushed together as a double.

but comfortable, with little thoughtful touches on our arrival – Mozart chocolate balls on our bed and a bottle of water in the fridge.

On entering the room I found a Mozart Kugel chocolate at the side of the bed and a bottle of water on the desk.

The temperature was over 30 degrees while we were there and as it is a beautiful traditional building there is no central heating.

but in an old, traditional building like this, we wouldn't want anything else.

but I still got a good view of mountains. Monday night appears to be choir practice night in the building opposite and as I had all my windows open (and the balcony door!)

We loved how we could just leave the car parked and walk to everything in the town.

Mozartplatz (with quite a few shops, hotels & restaurants), the cable car station as well as Lake Wolfgangsee are all within walking distance from the hotel.

The lake and the cable car stations are within walking distance.

Very friendly and very helpful, especially when we had trouble with our rental car on the steep hills.

The transportation options in St Gilgen is quite good even if you don't have a car (and we're here in wintertime).

It's close to the town's cable car that goes up the nearby peak.

Unloading of bags can be done at the rear door of the hotel and the car then parked.

The location of the hotel is excellent, just a three-minute walk from the Salzburg-bus stop and the valley station of Zwölferhorn cable car, and a five-minute walk to the shores of lake Wolfgangsee.

We visited in February for the mountains and snow could not have been more welcomed, hotel handy for bus station,cable car and restaurants all within a few hundred metres , traditional Austrian decor and nice breakfast even gluten free bread for my wife.

The hotel is located in a small side street in the beautiful village of St Gilden and has a small car park or you can park in the street.

Transportation: This area is best with a car.

It was about 5-10 minutes walk to the lake/ferry etc and in the other direction it was 3 minutes walk to the cable car station.

This hotel is located a stone's throw away from the Bus #150 bus stop and the base station for Zwolferhorn Seilbahn cable car.

However there are plenty of restaurant options in the village.

Room is comfortable and stay comes with a wonderful breakfast that includes an assortment of cereals, baked goods, eggs, deli meats, cheeses, and fruits and vegetables.

Staff: super friendly - so helpful and happy to have a chat, the annual stand up paddle was on that weekend 
Facilities: buffet breakfast had a large variety of choices, very tasty.

We enjoyed our breakfast and found it very tasty and filling before a day of site seeing!

His mother is very kind and suggested a great place to have dinner.

It had a great bunch of restaurants for various budgets.

Her dinner recommendations were fantastic.

St. Gilgen is a village easy and comfortable to simply stroll, stop in boutique-like shops, enjoy the lakefront park and relax in the many restaurants, bakeries, and pubs.

The hotel is ideally located in the picturesque lakeside town and is in close proximity to all services including numerous restaurants, shops, ferry and the Zwolferhorn Gondola.

St Gilgen itself is a very cute little village that has a few decent places to eat, and is a beautiful quiet wee place.

Actually, in the center of town where there are several good restaurants and cafes.

We enjoyed our takeaway dinner seated in our own private balcony, gazing at the mountains.

Within 5 mins walk there are numerous restaurants a beach and access for swimming, boating etc.

but it would be perfect if it can provide some hot food especially on some cold mornings.

The Location to the center is about a 5 minutes walk.

Location/transport: a short walk from the bus stop off the main road through St. Gilgen you will find this beautiful hotel.

You can easily walk down to the lakefront and enjoy the views and charming town.

A supermarket (SPAR) is also just 10 minutes walk from here.

The inn is centrally located in the village and it's easy to walk everywhere and get in and out for other sites in the region.

You can take the Bus 150 to Salzburg and/or Bad Ischl, and the station is a five-minute walk.

Walk up a few steps, and you arrive at the front desk.

Without my own transportation and having so many places on my list to visit in the region, my weary legs appreciated the short walk home.

We were traveling by public transport so appreciated that is was an easy walk from the bus stop in St. Gilgen.

If it's too misty or cloudy to go up in the cable-car, there is a lovely walk around the lake to St. Wolfgang - a much more 'touristy' town, from where you can get a boat back to St. Gilgen.

The beautiful  lake  is a 10 minutes walk away.

It's near the bus stop and St Gilgen is pretty easy to walk through anyway.

A short walk to the lake (St. Wolfgangsee) was truly enjoyable to spend a summer evening.

Well located and pretty easy to get about without needing a car, we managed Hallstatt and Salzburg easily.

The friendly front staff will guide in full details using a map where your room is located and where you can park your car.

From the minute we drew up in our car we were looked after by the efficient, friendly and oh so helpful staff. Our room (50 again!)

I was taken rather than just directed to a garage where I could park the car.

At the end of the stay the car and luggage were again efficiently organised.

We travelled to St.Wolfgang by car and had a parking space assigned to us behind the apartment.

Whilst we parked the car in their secure car park (about 7 minutes walk away) our cases had been taken to our room (46).

+ Mr. Hans, who was both helpful in carrying the luggage and parking the car.

Some staff are extremely professional and warm such as Doris, Martin and an old staff who took great care of getting our car and helping us with bags.

Singles are usually consigned  to a broom cupboard with a view of the trash cans and car park - not here.

Parking is available at a cost and a car is needed.

Examples: park your own car in the garage, blocks away, rain or sunshine.

You have to use the car park at the other end of the tunnel and walk back.

but we did ask for a fan which helped, the room also needed a bit of a refurb (torn carpet in doorway, dirty paintwork in the bathroom, and some woodwork which looked like it needed re- painting).

The only distaff is that we felt that some of the corridor carpets need to be renewed/cleaned once the summer season was over.

but decor was not tasteful - green carpet and orange curtains with flouncey curtain above bed.

Rooms, at least one we were given woefully outdated, red shag carpet, and not very clean.

They have an outside floating pool anchored in the lake, 15 meters long, heated at 30 degrees- great fun to swim.

St Wolfgang is really lovely - we watched the band that played in front of the hotel 3 times during our stay and took part in the local food and drink evening that was on whilst we were there which was great fun.

Only thing I can say is that maybe the furniture in the living area of the apartment could be updated after 8 years of staying there !

One of the only places I've ever been to where one can pay upwards of $500 a night and still sleep in sweltering conditions.

but a little run down, they could use some updating.

It's almost like they started renovating these rooms and stopped when almost finished.

I think that since we stayed the rooms have been updated as some were looking a bit old fashioned.

but the wood furniture & decor in the room could use a bit of updating.

On the negative side we found the bedrooms were in need of some refurbishment and the beds were extremely hard.

Currently the hotel is undergoing renovation and this should be finished by 1st May.

although it could have done with abit of updating.

Room was very dated and needs urgently updating.

The room was spotlessly clean and the light good quality duvet and pillows made for a good night's sleep.

The hotel itself has everything you would expect, comfortable, spotless rooms, excellent food and restaurant and amazing spa facilities.

Our room was very clean and even we did not have a balcony directly to the lake we could see the lake a Little bit.

Our room was clean and comfortable with a small sitting area, sufficient case storage space and a large bathroom.

The room was kept spotlessly clan with change of towels each day.

The rooms are clean, ellegant and good equipped.

The room was immaculate and had all we needed, the staff were helpful and spoke perfect English which put our poor attempts at German to shame.

Standard of facilities are second to none,whatever the weather there is always something to do.The rooms are spotless, however we supposedly had a junior suite

In the old town section, with very narrow streets and limited parking.

It is a pain to get in and out of and that street is a constant pedestrian street.

It was so hot the second night that we slept with the windows open despite the street noise and church bells.

This meant that sleep was very broken due to the incessant (every quarter hour) tolling of the church bell, and early morning racket in the street below from delivery people and street cleaners.

The very efficient glazed window units opened out onto a small private balcony and also kept out any minor street noise together with the sound of the bells from the adjoining Church clock tower which continue all night.

but were kept awake by outside doors being slammed and voices from the street below (some shouting in the early hours of the morning).

but there were no staff there so eventually we gave up and went across the street to eat.

There was a TV in the room with one English Channel (BBC world news).

Additional requests for an iron, early 7am breakfast on one occasion and the free loan of a DVD player (English news channels only provided) were very speedily met.

We visited all the surrounding villages by ferry, the cog railway and took the cable cr from St Gilgen.

It was fun to watch the movies about it plus Sound of Music on the hotels TV channel.

The family room was spacious and the kids loved their room that also had a TV!

There were also big, fuzzy blankets to drape over you while you lounged and admired the beautiful lake view-very nice touch!

They even play the Sound of Music on their in-house channel.

The furniture left a lot to be desired being rather old & weary, beds were low, and shade curtains unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.

The third night was unbearable and we were bitten by bugs that streamed in through the windows.

Our friends are in room 31 with Windows on two sides and a more intimate view of the lake and old Austrian furniture.

For breakfast we recommend that you sit in the buffet part, a) its closer to the buffet ans b) its easier to get a seat right by the window as in the Kaiserterrasse, you tend to get given the same seat each time.

Also, it was hot when we were there and no screens, no AC meant bugs came in with the open window - shutting it was too stuffy to sleep. As usual in this area, bring your own shampoo and conditioner as they do not provide any - just the "body and hair soap."

A small Sauna has windows overlooking the lake and as with the steam room, is for adults only.

I paid 400€ for a double room which had decor from the 1980s, and the whole hotel has a 'stale' smell of carpets and curtains long overdue for change.

At dawn the light streamed in through the window around the gaps left by the blinds.

One has to keep the windows open and it becomes very uncomfortable in peak summer.

As mentioned, the corridor outside reeked of damp, and the room was only habitable by keeping the window open and using an electric fan.

The private beach is a short walk away and there is car parking at the hotel which is unusual in St Wolfgang.

The lake is a few minutes walk downhill (best go through the car park of the hotel opposite).

The hotel also checked for us and we went to a nearby cable car place to take the cable car up to Zwolferhorn mountain by bus 150 again.

We had a hire car which i would recommend for seeing different places. Highlights for us were lake trips to St Gilgen (nice restaurants/mini golf etc) Strobl summer toboggan run ( a must for kids !)

The waiting staff were very efficient and friendly making for a relaxing atmosphere. It's a gentle 10 minute stroll into the pretty town centre and only a 5 minute walk to the hotel's private lakeside area (if you sneak through the car park opposite.)

Lift available, and plenty of car parking.

I can honestly say we had a great holiday at a really good hotel and have no hesitation in recommending it for those thinking of going, if we consider going again I think we would consider hiring a car at the airpoirt for more flexibilty of movement/choices.

Recommended are the sleigh rides and a trip into Bad Ischl to go on the cable car and ice skating.

We managed to speak to the owner and she assured us that the carpets will be replaced later in the year.

I can't get too upset about shabby carpet.
