We also tried the breakfast and it was plenty with a station were you can get omelets or fried eggs.

Spotlessly clean, a breakfast which is the best I have ever had in Europe, free parking, and a private bathing area right on the lake with its own “Honor Bar” refrigerator.

The cuisine is simple, freshly prepared and tasty with adequate choice for breakfast and dinner.

Breakfast spread was extensive and staff were very helpful.

Fabulous room, spotlessly clean hotel and very nice continental breakfast.

Breakfasts were delicious and we often had freshly made omelettes.

but none of these come close to the breakfasts that are served here, the choice was brilliant something for everybody.

Breakfast choices amazing, there was even a girl making you fresh omelette, in front of your eyes.

But the decor is traditional, the breakfast full of local delights (such as meaty local sausage, meat patties, interesting local cheeses, beautiful elderflower preserve etc etc) superb and the service homely and traditional.

Their breakfast buffet is tasty and filling.

The breakfast at Hotel Zimmerbrau was lovely each day with a range of continental delights, fresh fruit,  cooked items and an egg station where eggs of your choice were freshly made.

The breakfast is one of the best in Austria.

Good varied menu, well cooked food, especially the Wiener schnitzel  & apple strudel.

The breakfast was excellent, especially the omelet's.

The food arrived quickly and was delicious traditional Austrian fare.

I did not actually stay here because I messed up my reservation due to an oversight.

We are in a room overlooking the Main Street in this beautiful village, which in itself wouldn't be objectionable due to limited traffic and slow driving speeds.

but we refused to dine there due to the rude woman.

Due to St Wolfgang being a mainly summer resort, it was a little frustrating that most of the shops were closed, and there is very little choice for night life.

Due to location of hotel only a small number of rooms have lake views.

She seemed to be very stressed out a lot of the time, perhaps due to having to cope with three children including a baby (we did arrive towards the end of the School holidays).

Having just stayed at this hotel 18/6-2/7/08 I would make the following comments:

Bad points:if staying in a lake view room at the rear of the property you are woken every morning between 5.30 and 7.00 by bin lorries and/or deliveries to the hotel next door-very noisy, and ,because you are  facing a busy street not always possible to get an early night due to late night revellers.

There is a private beach only open to hotel guests.

Since we came late, we found only handful of restaurants open

The rooms do not have aircon, this was only really noticeable at night when we had the windows open and there was a fair bit of noise coming from the street,

however, be warned it is a good pull up a narrow street to get to and from your car each time if you use the open air parking.

Unfortunately the town allows loud music  to be played in open air conditions until 11 pm.

Do be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning, meaning you'll want your window open in warm weather.

My only down fall with this room was that it did not have air conditioning, and the days which we stayed were very warm (around 30 degrees c) and so we had to keep the balcony door open to let the cool air in,

Unfortunately the landhaus wasn't open during the Winter season so we picked the Zimmerbrau after reading several reviews and booked through Crystalski.

The sign on the outside stated that it was open until 11pm.

however, in saying that, the closed ones didn't seem to be selling anything different from the open ones.

The village of St Wolfgang is very picturesque and the only downside to the holiday was that none of the shops were open whilst we were there and there was hardly any snow up in Postalm, and none at all in the village.

Once the little advent huts have been taken down which is usually on New Years day the only shops that seemed to be open were the 2 small supermarkets.

but I felt so sorry for the many older couples who had hoped for leisurely trips across the lakes and "Kaffee und Kuchen" at one of the many open air cafes.

It rained while we were here and we were glad to have the whole house to relax in instead of being cooped up in a single hotel room.

The room was well furnished with everything we needed.

But all rooms seen as passing were also very pleasant.

Yes, they have the wifi and the restaurant, TV in the room, tea making facilities etc.

There is a great sitting room where you can have afternoon tea after a morning's exploring.

We were warmly greeted by the hotel owners and taken to our beautiful room which was situated on the 4th Floor.

The rooms were comfortable and spacious and the beds were very comfortable.

Strong, brolly also provided in each room.

The rooms are modern and spacious with a bar fridge and internet.

The rooms were clean, the beds fantastically comfortable, of a good size with views to the lake from the back if your room was above the 2nd level.

The staff that clean your rooms and serve in the dining room and the bar were also really pleasant people which is important.

Good food with vegetarian options, spotless rooms, some are a little small so worth paying for south facing (lake view).

although bedding never changed in week we stayed and only one towel replaced.

On the fourth day my husband nicked himself while shaving and, I decided to put a little bit of blood in the hem of the towels.

although the towels were like cardboard and the food was generally quite good, However the lack of warmth from our hosts meant that we probably couldn't recommend this hotel to others.

Towels are of a poor standard and if wanting to be really picky never match.Toiletries are provided on arrival only therefore good job brought my own as they are quite expensive in St Wolfgang

The only reservations I have about the hotel are that the towels could do with being a softer and fluffier as they a little too thin and hard and the coffee was a bit weak for my wife's taste

but poor quality towels, bedding very good, but don't think sheets, cover were changed whilst we were there.

Went to room which was spacious, the only thing that was wrong were the towels, we felt we were drying ourselves on dishcloths, they were hard and had seen better days.

It is in the center of the town yet our room was quiet and peaceful with a nice view of the lake.

St Wolfgang is a lovely old Austrian town well worthy of spending some quality time in.

The hotel is right in the middle of truly one of the most charming Austrian towns you will ever visit.

There is something unique in the little town.

Our room has a balcony to see the town and a small glimpse of the lake as the hotel is not situated on the bank of the lake.

Located in the narrow streets of Sankt Woolfgang, an absolutely perfect little town.

My wife and I have just returned from a ten day holiday, during which we stayed at the Zimmerbräu Hotel in St.Wolfgang, right in the centre of this delightful old town.

St. Wolfgang the town either has an acute case of the "cutes", or is your quintessential "Sound of Music" picture-perfect Austrian town by a gorgeous lake.

The hotel is right in the centre of the town, a perfect location.

We met several Austrians that vacation in this town every year.

The hotel location is about perfect, right by the town square.

We have just returned from eight nights in the Zimmerbrau Hotel which sits in the middle of the town of St Wolfgang.

There are endless hiking trails around the town.

but the male owner kindly directed us to the free hotel parking where we could keep the car and explore the town.

While Zimmerbrau wasn't the cheapest option in Austria it was definitely the right choice and was a great base in a lovely little town.

The town is small and the hotel is within walking distance from everywhere.

The bells of the town church, quite nearby, also chime all night (on the quarter hour).

St.Wolfgang is a beautiful town in a beautiful setting.

Cons: The wifi can be better, else you need to be on the hallway or on the ground floor to get signals.

Although my mobile phone can detect several wifi AP,

Wireless Internet was intermittent in our room.

but this of course meant being woken up at all hours of the night from the noise outside (the church bells ringing every fifteen minutes and the garbage men especially) We also had some trouble connecting to the wireless.

The tickets to Dachstein Ice caves were for 75€.

The hotel room was spacious with a lovely balcony to end the day with.

Balcony was also enjoyed, sitting on the chairs and table enjoying the weather and view.

Our room was a nice size and included a balcony.

The bedrooms, breakfast room, balconies everything was colourful and charming giving the place a very country style look.

The room, a spacious suite (Room 17) with not only a sitting area and dining area (and balcony) was part of a shared apartment of sorts; the two suites were separate

The hotel is nicely appointed, the cozy rooms with balconies that look over the lake or to the mountains.

My "single" room with private balcony and en-suite bathroom was perfect for me.

I had a large single room with a balcony, which I always enjoy and the room & shower were all spotlessly clean, there was a TV and I did enjoy the free chocolate.

The room had a small balcony which provided glimpses of the lake and the surrounding mountains, was of adequate size, traditionally furnished, very clean and extremely quiet.

Specious rooms ,clean and also bath rooms are specious, rooms have balconies from you have beautiful view!

The room was large, comfortable and homely furnished, with a sofa and a little balcony.

Friendly staff great room with a balcony, with a view of the town and lake in the background, close to the town and the tram to the top of the mountain, great location.

We loved having a balcony with a glimpse of the lake over the rooftops!

It was a lovely and spacious double with a balcony and a view over the centre of St.Gilgen toward mount Schafberg.

The room had a small balcony overlooking the road and rooftops towards the lake

The room we were in on the upper floor had a balcony facing the highway.

Views from rooms vary - we were in front with a huge balcony (didn't use in December) looking over the charming street with steeple view.

Finally,  during check-out he handed us small bottles of preserves which gave a very personal touch to our stay.

but comfortable, with little thoughtful touches on our arrival – Mozart chocolate balls on our bed and a bottle of water in the fridge.

On entering the room I found a Mozart Kugel chocolate at the side of the bed and a bottle of water on the desk.

The delicious breakfast on offer was above-average European continental and served in the charming breakfast room.

The breakfast spread was extensive and delicious in an Alpine Country Style breakfast room we loved.

The breakfast room is also very nice, it feels quite pleasant and personal.

On the first floor next to reception there was a really quaint breakfast room which provided an adequate breakfast of juices, cereals, meats and cheeses

I liked most the breakfast room - cosy, with a lot of local artefacts, very clean, wooden tables, nice tableware, incredibly good food, everything done with the best possible service.

Bus 150 took us from Salzburg to St Gilgen in just under 1 hour.

Location/transport: a short walk from the bus stop off the main road through St. Gilgen you will find this beautiful hotel.

We took bus no.150 (costing € 6.80 p/p) from Salzburg Central Station which dropped us just 50 metres from the hotel.

We had an amazing week and it was thanks to both St Gilgen, Bus 150 and the beautiful home we had at Schernthaner for a week !

You can take the Bus 150 to Salzburg and/or Bad Ischl, and the station is a five-minute walk.

On top of that, travelers staying in St. Gilgen can either hop the ferry to visit the other villages on Wolfgangsee or hop a regional post bus to those villages, Hallstatt, Bad Ischl, other alpine lakes and towns in the Salzkammergut (Lake District) and Salzburg (none of my adventures were more than a 45 minute scenic bus ride)

It's located nicely in the village of St Gilgen, very close to the ferry, the gondola and the bus stop into Salzburg, so really really handy.

The location is excellent, a s hort walk from the bus stop and the Zwölferhorn cable car.

We were traveling by public transport so appreciated that is was an easy walk from the bus stop in St. Gilgen.

Location is perfect and safe, close to ferry and bus terminal.

It's near the bus stop and St Gilgen is pretty easy to walk through anyway.

St. Gilgen is 40 min bus ride from Salzburg.

This hotel is located a stone's throw away from the Bus #150 bus stop and the base station for Zwolferhorn Seilbahn cable car.

We took the bus from a Salzburg, and it was less than a 5 minute walk from the bus stop.

For first-timers, it is helpful to remember that the 150 Bus from Salzberg is fast and inexpensive.

We arrived via local bus from the airport which is easy to manage

We took the 150 bus from Salzburg  €6.20 took 45 minutes, the bus station is a 2 minute walk to the hotel you can see it as you pull in.

Buses to nearby Strobl, Mondsee, Bad Ischl and St. Wolfgang are also easy and affordable.

Day 5 (Dachstein Ice caves) -  we took the bus to Bad Ischl.

The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet very good.

Rooms are clean and there is free breakfast every morning.

Our room was clean , well equiped with enough space.

The hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean and Anneliese was the perfect hostess.She was very professional and went out of her way to ensure we had everything that we needed.I loved her personal welcome card on the breakfast table on our first morning.

The room was also very clean and spotless.

The hotel and our room was clean which is always important.

Both rooms were clean, spacious, and had balconies with charming views.

We would have been happier if there was air conditioning in the rooms (travelled with another couple).

There was no air conditioning in the room and it was very hot.

There were a couple of small minor points, our room did not have aircon like most Austrian hotels so was quite uncomfortable in the heat,

It's a corner unit which faces the lake on one side and the unused dock on the other.

One of the only places I've ever been to where one can pay upwards of $500 a night and still sleep in sweltering conditions.

I would start with a caveat that it isn't perfect and if it was it probably would be too stuffy for us.

First, our room didn't have air conditioning or fun for the hot days.

Various reasons were suggested and ultimately we were given a noisy fan to use.

We obviously survived the night with no A/C and it was fixed the next morning.

The only unpleasant point was that the central heating remained completely cold during all 3 days.

They also allowed room ventilation which is important given the lack of a/c.

but unfortunately there was maintenance work ongoing in the block and the heating wasn't working.

Also, it was hot when we were there and no screens, no AC meant bugs came in with the open window - shutting it was too stuffy to sleep. As usual in this area, bring your own shampoo and conditioner as they do not provide any - just the "body and hair soap."

The lake room had eaves type structures with furniture cleverly placed and when the balcony could not be used made the room rather small, the bathroom was very small (fans did not work) and not suitable for people above average size.

The only thing you can do is ask for a fan.

One thing these hotels are not equipped with is that they do not have aircondition or fans.

There is no air conditioning which can make for hot rooms.

no steam, just not so hot towels to open up the pores, the "microdermabrasion" was not really effective, with the thinly applied 10-12 minute mask I was left alone for 20 minutes, so that the skin really felt dried up and when she asked if she should correct the eye-brows, she did not mention that 8 euros would be charged on top.

As mentioned, the corridor outside reeked of damp, and the room was only habitable by keeping the window open and using an electric fan.

The shower area was like a grotto with twinkling lights in the ceiling and three options of cooling off(shower, plunge, mist).

Well located and pretty easy to get about without needing a car, we managed Hallstatt and Salzburg easily.

The friendly front staff will guide in full details using a map where your room is located and where you can park your car.

From the minute we drew up in our car we were looked after by the efficient, friendly and oh so helpful staff. Our room (50 again!)

I was taken rather than just directed to a garage where I could park the car.

At the end of the stay the car and luggage were again efficiently organised.

We travelled to St.Wolfgang by car and had a parking space assigned to us behind the apartment.

Whilst we parked the car in their secure car park (about 7 minutes walk away) our cases had been taken to our room (46).

+ Mr. Hans, who was both helpful in carrying the luggage and parking the car.

Some staff are extremely professional and warm such as Doris, Martin and an old staff who took great care of getting our car and helping us with bags.

Singles are usually consigned  to a broom cupboard with a view of the trash cans and car park - not here.

Parking is available at a cost and a car is needed.

Examples: park your own car in the garage, blocks away, rain or sunshine.

You have to use the car park at the other end of the tunnel and walk back.

They have an outside floating pool anchored in the lake, 15 meters long, heated at 30 degrees- great fun to swim.

St Wolfgang is really lovely - we watched the band that played in front of the hotel 3 times during our stay and took part in the local food and drink evening that was on whilst we were there which was great fun.

All was going very well until the last two nights of our stay which focused on extremely poor service from the restaurant.

but I'm afraid the choice of food on offer left a lot to be desired, particularly the breakfast which we considered to be very poor.I'm afraid I would not recommend this hotel as poor value for money, it does have however a wonderful position in the centre of St Wolfgang with wonderful views of the lake.
