This seafront hotel is probably the best accommodation in Fortaleza if you are not looking for a resort.

A great location, right across the road from what felt like one of the safer areas on the beachfront.

A good hotel, food customer service, nice location near to prai futura beach, with good restaurants around, the breakfast is delicious and the room clean and with good A/C.

The beach just across the (torn up) street in front of the hotel hosts a street fair/flea market frequented by locals and tourists alike.

So, thieves walk around the beach day and night looking for their next target.

Smart rooms, smart lobby, friendly service, well-situated on the beach with decent restaurants nearby, good breakfast - this hotel ticks all the boxes you need.

The hotel is perfect for who want to stay in fortaleza because it is in front of the sea near the famous feirinha and a short way by car the futuro beach.

Another reason we enjoyed our stay at the Grand Marquise Hotel so much is the fact it is located right across the street from Iracema Beach and a walking distance to several divine restaurants and bars in the area.

Finally, the location is great, in one of the most noble addresses in Fortaleza, with beautiful views of the beach and the port.

During breakfast you could taste typical northwest Brazilian food, you must eat tapioca and fruit natural juice.

Breakfast has a lot of quality products and the dinner that I ordered was wonderful too.

The lobby looks very old fashion, really noisy, cold and dark.

My only criticism would be TV channels all in Portuguese with exception of CNN which let's not kid ourselves it's very boring.Also water temperature was very strange, in the afternoon there was no cold water at all and in the morning shower it was either boiling hot water or cold no in between. Apart from that we had a great stay and we loved the variety of foods for breakfast including Champagne :-)

AC system ok (i prefer to sleep in cold temperature and unfortunately system did not refrigerate below 23 degrees celsius).

You can't turn the hot water on in the shower even if cold water is totally open.

Our room was comfortable with a great view of the beach and active day and night Brazilian life .

The hotel was renovated for the soccer world cup games, and does provide big comfortable rooms.

I am writing to you because I tried to withdraw money (150 BRL) at the encounter of the hotel and the woman said that my card was rejected and didn't give me any money back.

but they always have some availables (do not accept amex, but accept other debit cards).

Outstanding staff, very warm and professional, specially the staff on duty on the eve of August 10, who solved my problem when leaving for the airport at midnight with no cash to pay for the taxi ride (to have in mind, taxis to the airport do not usually accept credit card as taxis from the airport, so keep some 50/55 Reais for the ride back to airport!).

but as we were doing it they were also trying to charge another guest for the same thing.

The view is great and the service from the bar is superb.

Service is spot on - rooms are cleaned and tidied every morning, so if you get back to your room early in the day it's ready.

This was my second stay and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Mariana who helped incredibly in booking a car service to Jericoacoara.

Despite being from an unknown brand, it does provide good service and good amenities.

Worm welcome even it is late evening, fast service, in 5 min I'm in the room.

There are only very limited shopping, restaurant and bar choices within close walking distance.

Was greeted at the front desk without a single smile, and after 22h a bouncer bars the entrance of the hotel to check you're on the list.

For diner they have a good restaurant with a decent bar.

It´s not so near to the typical local handcraft fair and most of restaurants and bars, if you look for fun time. Deuce!

The location makes it very attractive, the kilometer long beach is just across the road and a few hundred meters to the right a beach market and countless restaurants and bars can be found.

I got assigned room #1713 which had a fantastic view of the beach and ocean.

We came in early and got checked inn right away rooms are very spacious staff very friendly we felt at home the food was great really tasty it’s the third time I’ve and still the best the pool and jacuzzi made it really great to finish the day after a long day at the beach i recommended this hotel

The hotel is located directly on the beach and had a great view from the side balcony.

Beside that very unacceptable exception, the service was friendly, the room was nice, It was in a good neighborhood and right on the beach.

Location is very good, breakfast is just at the beach, and prime location for a walk.

Breakfast:  Restaurant in premise was excellent.

Breakfast is extensive and the location is convenient.

Despite this the buffet was always well stocked.

Breakfast is splendid with an egg chef, fresh fruits and lots of local things to try.

The breakfast buffet was also quite good.

I appreciated the large opening hours of the breakfast (6.30 or 7am to 10.30am) with tables both inside or outside.

We were a group of 9 people divided in families of 3, we have been there for 2 days enjoying the people, the breakfast, the services, the room, the position .

but not least the spectacular breakfast that rivals all the breakfasts in every hotel in Brazil.

Free parking and breakfast was also a plus.

A shout out to the breakfast Top Chef John who makes the "best tapioca in Brazil" every morning!

Breakfast: This hotel had a great variety of breakfast and everything seemed to be very well done. Delicious.

Coffee machine does not work properly at breakfast and it creates huge Q.

However things seemed to be a little confusing: on the same small place of lavatory, there was a small fridge, some snacks and coffee machine.

The only suggestion that I have for the hotel would be to please get an ice machine for the guests use.

The hotel including the rooms are very outdated, this is no standard Holiday Inn IHG quality that I’m used to.

Even if i am writing on behalf of my family, i can confirm the judge of the others is the same.

He then saw my spouse and told me that I would have to pay an extra $40 BRL per night for my spouse, because my reservation (booked directly through IHG) indicated one adult.

By the way the hotel was not half booked next day.

[BTW: My daughter booked the same and reported an even worse experience.  ]

I guess the hotel was fully booked, so in the morning there was often a queue to get a table for breakfast.

But what was a complete unpleasant surprise was the fact that at check in Mr Alysson charged me a fee of 215.47 Reais that is fully improper and incorrect as my prepaid booking was completely prepaid in advance (redundancy in my statement is on purpose) and the voucher very clearly stated that my reservation was fully prepaid.

To my surprise there was nothing when I arrived.

We arrived very early in the morning and had to pay a 'fee' to check in early, something which I expected.

After numerous attempts to charge me a full day's rate to check in 4hrs ahead of their normal time, the front desk staff recognized that it was purely stingy business practice to have a room completely ready,

There was no notice of this on the hotel website when I checked before arriving in Fortaleza.

but couldn't check in because apartments are only available from 2PM on.

even though the reservation stated that the credit card would be charged in case of no-show (but I checked in around 9:30pm).

Other advantages of this Brasil Tropical hotel are very well-known including the location close to the beach, ample rooms with views to the amazing Meirelles skyscrapers and sorrounding area, and a swimming pool located in the "cobertura" (roof) allowing to have sun baths and also the service of drinks.

Although it is well located, walking distance to the beach, beira mar nd many places, the room was not as I expected.

The location is one of the best near to the beach and good restaurants, so we had to walk to go dinner.

The restaurant has an excellent hot breakfast with eggs, local tasty tapioca, fruits and juices, breads and variety of cheeses and cold cuts - we strongly recommend that you include that on your daily rate when you book.

The apartments are just fine, with an incorporated small kitchen that gives you the option to cook your meals and save some money or just be creative with local ingredients.

Not that good:  at breakfast you get only two kinds of juices of exotic fruits -caju and acerola- both of them quite bitter, (although you are in Brazil and "normal" fruits such as orange, pineapple or watermelon are available.

Breakfast in the restaurant was pretty basic (bread/pastries, cereal, fruit, eggs and an omelet station).

The hotel is very well located around the beach block (not beach front) of the Meireles Beach, which is the best city beach in Fortaleza.

There's a large grocery store a few blocks away as well.

There are too many options within blocks at better rates, Spazzio Hotel and Hotel Casa Blanca to name a couple.

The Beira Mar is one block away and the night market is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

There is also a grocery store about 3 blocks east (Pão de Açúcar).

One block away from the bus stop to Jericoacoara.

but it is a block from the beach, or the flea market that happens everyday from 6 to 9 pm, a handy craft market with a lot of souvenirs to buy, and a place to see.

At a later stage, I spoke with the hotel manager Pedro Ruau and he explained me that the fee was because my travel agency used Decolar as intermediary, which is used to charge the 10% to the guest.

If you drive, don't rely on your credit card's insurance coverage.

I had a few problems with reception staff who tried to charge my credit card in advance

Waiters Andre and Wilson are among the best as they are so kind, humorous, smiling, and serviceable in the restaurant and they are the ones that encourage to come back all years!

The restaurant waiters and attendants are very courteous and friendly.

We loved Allyson at the front desk and the whole staff in the restaurant and front area.

The restaurant is a real plus and added to my convenience!

It’s worth getting the buffet breakfast and lunch and dinner prices are very reasonable and food quality food!

You can cook your own food as there is a big market nearby (Three blocks via the main avenue where the hotel is located).

In the weekend the dinner is accompanied by live music.

We were also forced to search the city for a Internet cafe and pay out of pocket to use functional internet access.

There was a fantastic choice of food available.

The location was unbeatable, close to the sea, Beira mar, a little artisanal market, restaurant area and city center.

The on site restaurant was surprisingly good for lunch (ate off the menu one day, had the Buffett another day).

The bedroom was much smaller, and had no TV in that area which I would have liked.

May need some more extensive guidance and how to use TV and WiFi.

They should add more english, french and spanish channels, instead of having only portuguese channels.

Two issues to solve:
- it was easier to get the world cup ticktes that watch the games at the hotel tv.Terrible TV reception.

Then, the next day, Ms. Kelly and Mr. Rogerio at Breakfast did all they could to make us feel welcome. The rooms are very clean, the place is nice and comfortable (the bed will really put you to sleep!)

The breakfast included was great -- lots of fruits, lots of cakes, tapiocas, and other hot items.

Very good service, excellent breakfast plenty of different food styles.

The breakfast served there had real good food as well.

We got lunch at the restaurant downstairs  and the meals were delicious.

Good and safe location, neat room, nice pool and gym, a garage space, cool breakfast and helpful staff. That being said, there's no doubt I'll come back one day :)

This is an excellent place to stay in Fortaleza, due to its central location and overall high marks on everything from personal service to breakfast to the space and cleanliness of the rooms.

But the disappointment was our flight was later in the evening and we requested a late check out.

Would strongly suggest that staff at check-in mention to his customers in Brazil it's quite dangerous.

My only complaint was the check in as they only had 2 people and a long line.

Check-in is confusing, there is no organization of queues and apparently everybody is a VIP for I was systematically bypassed while waiting.

Very comfortable rooms, clean, with individual air conditioning, and big beds.

Anyhow the area is pretty much safe & clean in my opinion.

The room was clean and the staff was very kind with me and my friends.
